Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of apatinib monotherapy as subsequent-line therapy on patients with advanced ESCC. Methods We included 56 patients with advanced ESCC who were administered with apatinib monotherapy. The initial dosage of apatinib was 500mg or 250mg daily. Clinicopathological characteristics, adverse reaction and prognosis of the patients were analyzed. The primary endpoint of this study was PFS, the secondary endpoints were ORR, DCR, OS and safety of apatinib administration. Results All the 56 patients with ESCC corresponded with the eligibility criteria and were available for the evaluation of efficacy and adverse reaction. The ORR of the 56 patients who received apatinib monotherapy was 8.9% (95%CI: 3.0%-19.6%) and DCR was 64.3% (95%CI: 50.4%-76.6%). The median PFS was 3.7 months (95%CI: 3.19-4.21) and the median OS was 6.3 months (95%CI: 3.53-9.08). The common adverse reactions were hypertension (50.0%), fatigue (41.1%), loss of appetite (35.7%), hand-foot syndrome (30.4%) and diarrhea (26.8%). Conclusion Apatinib monotherapy demonstrates potential efficacy and tolerable safety as the further-line treatment for the patients with advanced ESCC. And the conclusion should be validated in prospective clinical studies subsequently.

In this paper, a stochastic SVEIR epidemic model with saturated incidence and partial immunity is proposed. First, we define the basic reproduction number R0 and study the global asymptotic stability of disease-free equilibrium and endemic equilibrium of the deterministic epidemic model. Then we establish the existence and uniqueness of global positive solution, along with delineating sufficient conditions for disease extinction. By constructing appropriate Lyapunov functions, we analyze the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the stochastic epidemic model around the disease-free equilibrium and endemic equilibrium points of the deterministic epidemic model. Under certain conditions, the solution of the stochastic model fluctuates around the disease-free equilibrium point and the endemic equilibrium point, with the intensity of fluctuation proportional to the intensity of white noise. The existence of ergodic stationary distribution is proved by the Khasminskii method. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to illustrate our analysis results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Liver fibrosis is a chronic pathological condition lacking specific clinical treatments. Stem cells, with notable potential in regenerative medicine, offer promise in treating liver fibrosis. However, stem cell therapy is hindered by potential immunological rejection, carcinogenesis risk, efficacy variation, and high cost. Stem cell secretome‐based cell‐free therapy offers potential solutions to address these challenges, but it is limited by low delivery efficiency and rapid clearance. Herein, an innovative approach for in situ implantation of smart microneedle (MN) arrays enabling precisely controlled delivery of multiple therapeutic agents directly into fibrotic liver tissues is developed. By integrating cell‐free and platinum‐based nanocatalytic combination therapy, the MN arrays can deactivate hepatic stellate cells. Moreover, they promote excessive extracellular matrix degradation by more than 75%, approaching normal levels. Additionally, the smart MN arrays can provide hepatocyte protection while reducing inflammation levels by ≈70–90%. They can also exhibit remarkable capability in scavenging almost 100% of reactive oxygen species and alleviating hypoxia. Ultimately, this treatment strategy can effectively restrain fibrosis progression. The comprehensive in vitro and in vivo experiments, supplemented by proteome and transcriptome analyses, substantiate the effectiveness of the approach in treating liver fibrosis, holding immense promise for clinical applications. In April 2024, the Institutes of Science and Development, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASISD) released the 2023 Technology Focus report. The report uses big data and deep learning techniques to explore the hidden deep relationships among patent technologies. Based on 21 812 technology focuses formed by clustering nearly 680 000 dual jurisdictional patents, the Top 100 technology focuses are selected, named, and outlined in 32 technical fields distributed in the four major categories of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) patent classification system, and a key analysis and interpretation of 32 of them are also provided. True morels (Morchella spp.) are renowned for their aroma and taste, and hot air drying is widely used to extend the shelf life of harvested morels. However, the effects of different drying temperatures on volatile flavor compounds and non-volatile metabolites in the morel are poorly understood. Here, fresh morels (Morchella sextelata) were air-dried at low (45 °C, LT), medium (55 °C, MT), and high temperatures (65 °C, HT). The volatile flavor compounds and non-volatile metabolites were analyzed using GC-IMS and LC-MS/MS, respectively. The GC-IMS revealed that aldehydes, hydrocarbons, and pyrazines increased at greater temperatures, while acids, alcohols, and esters decreased. Random forest machine learning indicated that 1-hexanol and ethyl 3-methylbutanoate were indicative flavor compounds at LTs, while those at MTs and HTs were hexanal and valeraldehyde, respectively. Greater temperatures reduced acetic acid, an unpleasant sour flavor. The LC-MS/MS showed that the relative abundance of amino acids and nucleotides increased with the temperature, with the same trend in 5′-nucleotides and flavor amino acids. Sorbitol 6-phosphate was indicative of the non-volatile metabolites at LTs, while several amino acids were indicative at MTs and HTs. This study revealed the flavor and taste characteristics of morels dried at different temperatures, providing a theoretical reference for establishing a standardized postharvest morel drying process and maintaining morel quality. Environmental regulation (ER) and internet development (ID) are important options for addressing the environmental health crisis, but the actual impact of both on public health outcomes (PHOs) is still unclear. This study aims to explain how and to what extent China's ER and ID jointly affect PHO. This is especially important for enhancing the degree of coordination between ecosystems and socioeconomic systems and realizing a harmonious symbiotic relationship between human beings and nature. Unlike previous studies, this paper innovatively incorporates ER and ID into the Grossman health production function, establishing a research framework that includes these factors and their impact on PHO. We employed the provincial panel data from China to methodically analyze the importance of ER and ID in responding to environmental health crises and improving public health, so as to close the gaps in the literature. On the basis of the validation of pollution in China endangering PHO and having heterogeneous manifestations, this paper employed a moderating effect model to confirm that ER and ID can mitigate the harm pollution has on PHO. Furthermore, the two have both demonstrated considerable PHO improvement impacts, with the regional heterogeneity of ER's PHO improvement effect being more pronounced. The usage of the spatial effects model proves that ER and ID have significant spatial performance. Furthermore, as the internet develops, the PHO-improving effects of both comprehensive ER and diverse environmental regulatory tools are becoming more pronounced. According to the study's findings, the government should consider ER and ID as major policy alternatives for improving national health. We developed a policy framework that incorporates multiple measures to boost public health protection in the two, and which aids in the exploration and improvement of feasible solutions to improve public health levels. According to related research, different body temperatures, heart rates, and locomotor behaviors of small-tailed cold goats can represent the physical condition of the goats themselves and are used as direct evidence for evaluating the physical health status of small-tailed cold goats. In this paper, we designed and tested a system for predicting the health status of small-tailed cold sheep based on wearable information monitoring technology. To test the system, sheep wearable devices were worn on 36 small-tailed cold sheep of different ages and inconsistent health conditions at different time points from May to October. A SLBAS-BP neural network model for predicting the health condition of small-tailed cold sheep was established using the collected and processed data, which overcame the problem that the traditional gradient descent method in the BP neural network is prone to fall into local optimization leading to insufficient prediction ability. The correct prediction rates of the improved BP neural network for the four health conditions of healthy, sub-healthy, fever, and disease were 98.4%, 94.5%, 90.4%, and 98.7%, respectively, and the average correct prediction rate of the four conditions was 5.8% higher than that before the improvement, reaching 95.2%.
