In this work, a methodology for choosing the modern and advanced electrical machines and electronic units' concept, based on FMEA, has been developed. The developed methodology for choosing the electrical machine and the electronic unit concept allows minimizing the probability of making an error at the initial stage of electrical machine and electronic unit design. As an example, the application of the developed methodology for choosing the modern and advanced electrical machine concept for small-sized aircraft generator has been considered. In order to verify the developed methodology for choosing the electrical machines and the electronic units' concept, the small-sized aircraft generator has been designed according to the selected concept and the small-sized aircraft generator experimental studies have been carried out. The research results have proved the relevance of the application of the developed methodology for choosing the modern and the advanced electrical machines and electronic units' concept. Air-coupled ultrasonic excitation is a relatively poorly studied method of nondestructive testing of polymer and composite materials. The combination of noncontact ultrasonic stimulation in conjunction with laser vibrometry can provide an assessment of the quality of the product without external influence on the tested material. This work is devoted to the study of an ultrasound diagnostic system based on the combined use of a noncontact magnetostrictive transducer and scanning laser Doppler vibrometry for nondestructive testing of polymer and composite materials. We believe that such combination can provide sufficient power for rapid detection of defects, while the optimization of the experimental conditions increased the efficiency of testing results. Measurement of the directional diagram of the magnetostrictive transducer has made it possible to determine the features of the radiation of the magnetostrictor in an assembly with a titanium step-type waveguide. In this paper, an original design failure mode and effects analysis methodology that can be applied to all modern and advanced electrical machines has been proposed. The developed methodology application is possible in the real electrical machines manufacture, which is confirmed by "Tekhnodinamika" holding representatives. On the example of the high-torque permanent magnets synchronous motor, the stages of the electrical machine hierarchical decomposition, the definition of the electrical machine and its components functions, the theory of failures and failure modes have been considered. The prospects and the opportunities that failure mode and effects analysis open in the design and in the production of modern and advanced electrical machines have been described. Proposed failure mode and effects analysis methodology application in electrical machines engineering will allow avoiding serious failures in commercially available electrical machines, as well as collecting into one system the rules that should be followed by electrical machines designers and manufacturers. The regulated failure mode and effects analysis methodology usage in the electrical machines design and manufacture should significantly improve the quality of manufactured products, increase its competitiveness and consumer qualities, and also reduce production costs. In this article, the influence of external operating conditions on the generator with magnetic core made of amorphous low-coercivity material is under experimental study. Experimental tests of generator with amorphous low-coercivity material magnetic core for hard sinusoidal vibration have been carried out. The results of the vibration tests have showed that the amorphous low-coercivity material magnetic core withstood severe vibration, has not collapsed and has not received mechanical damage after vibration tests. The results of the experimental studies have shown the importance of vibration tests for electric machines with amorphous lowcoercivity material magnetic cores, which will be subjected to strong external vibrations during the operation. The results of the thermal tests have showed that overheating of the generator slightly affects its parameters. We propose a combined method for thermal nondestructive testing using optical and ultrasonic stimulation by means of combining individual thermograms obtained at the corresponding time points. The resulting sequences of infrared thermograms provide more efficient identification of defects of various types and can also be processed using well-known algorithms, for example, thermographic signal reconstruction, principal component analysis, etc. We obtained experimental results on a composite CFRP sample imitating aircraft ribs using a robotic manipulator. High-torque permanent magnet synchronous electric motors (HPMSM) are widely used in many industries due to their minimum weight and size parameters, low vibrations and high efficiency at maximum torque. A special effect from the use of HPMSM can be achieved in the aerospace industry as electric motors for various executive units, for example, a flap drive, slats or elevators. The purpose of this work is to make experimental studies and research using the finite element method of the characteristics and parameters of HPMSM with magnetic cores of ALM with more than 6 slots, created according to the technology developed by the authors for manufacturing magnetic cores of ALM. This article considers the experimental studies that have been conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and features of the ALM application in HPMSM. In order to assess the effectiveness of using ALM HPMSM with a magnetic core made of ALM, it is compared with a similar HPMSM, whose magnetic core is made of electrotechnical steel. A multipolar HPMSM with a fractional toothed winding is considered. This article discusses a study of transformer–rectifier units with a magnetic core made of amorphous steel. Transformers with various types of amorphous alloys have been analyzed, and the optimum amorphous alloy for transformers was determined. Thermal processes in transformers with magnetic core of amorphous steel have been simulated, and the maximum temperature under normal operating conditions has been determined. The simulation has demonstrated that no special transformer cooling system is required. An experimental transformer–rectifier unit has been designed and manufactured with a magnetic core of amorphous steel installed on an 18-pulse rectifier with a capacity of 10.5 kV A operating with a frequency of 400–800 Hz and voltage of 115/27 V. To verify the obtained data, experimental studies have been performed that confirmed the validity of the selected design procedure of a transformer engineering flowchart. The stage-like character of the stress-strain curves and microstructure in the fracture zone of coarse-grained and ultrafine-grained specimens of the VT1-0 and Zr–1Nb alloy specimens under quasistatic loading are investigated using the temperature curves obtained by the method of IR-imaging. New experimental data are obtained, which provide evidence on a considerable influence of the ultrafine-grained state on the evolution of plastic deformation and fracture in the VT1-0 and Zr–1Nb alloys.
