Abstract: International audience; PurposeRecently, ultrahigh-dose-rate radiation therapy (UHDR-RT) has emerged as a promising strategy to increase the benefit/risk ratio of external RT. Extensive work is on the way to characterize the physical and biological parameters that control the so-called “Flash” effect. However, this healthy/tumor differential effect is observable in in vivo models, which thereby drastically limits the amount of work that is achievable in a timely manner.Methods and MaterialsIn this study, zebrafish embryos were used to compare the effect of UHDR irradiation (8-9 kGy/s) to conventional RT dose rate (0.2 Gy/s) with a 68 MeV proton beam. Viability, body length, spine curvature, and pericardial edema were measured 4 days postirradiation.ResultsWe show that body length is significantly greater after UHDR-RT compared with conventional RT by 180 µm at 30 Gy and 90 µm at 40 Gy, while pericardial edema is only reduced at 30 Gy. No differences were obtained in terms of survival or spine curvature.ConclusionsZebrafish embryo length appears as a robust endpoint, and we anticipate that this model will substantially fasten the study of UHDR proton-beam parameters necessary for “Flash.”

Abstract: International audience; This paper focuses on Greek inscriptions from Egypt and the Aegean islands during the Hellenistic period: based on this epigraphic documentation, we try to determine, on the one hand, what are the spatial dynamics of the gods and goddesses named epekooi (“who listen”) or with similar onomastic attributes, and on the other hand, what are the motivations of social agents who chose to address the gods with these names. Facing the diversity of contexts, we consider that the diffusion of epekoos and the like in the Hellenistic Mediterranean was more complex than it was suggested before.; Cet article prête attention aux inscriptions grecques d’Égypte et des îles égéennes à l’époque hellénistique. En tirant parti des sources épigraphiques, nous tentons de déterminer les dynamiques spatiales des divinités explicitement qualifiées d’epékooi (« à l’écoute ») ou d’autres épithètes équivalentes, ainsi que les motivations des agents sociaux qui s’adressaient à elles. La diversité des contextes invite à dresser un tableau plus complexe de la diffusion d’epékoos et consorts dans la Méditerranée hellénistique que celui que l’historiographie a dressé jusqu’alors.

Abstract: International audience; Although the holy grail to store and manipulate data in Edge infrastructures is yet to be found, state-of-the-art approaches demonstrated the relevance of replication strategies that bring content closer to consumers: The latter enjoy better response time while the volume of data passing through the network decreases overall. Unfortunately, locating the closest replica of a specific content requires indexing every live replica along with its location. Relying on remote services enters in contradiction with the properties of Edge infrastructures as locating replicas may effectively take more time than actually downloading content. At the opposite, maintaining such an index at every node would prove overly costly in terms of memory and traffic, especially since nodes can create and destroy replicas at any time.In this paper, we abstract content indexing as distributed partitioning: every node only indexes its closest replica, and connected nodes with a similar index compose a partition. Our decentralized implementation AS-cast is (i) efficient, for it uses partitions to lock down the traffic generated by its operations to relevant nodes, yet it (ii) guarantees that every node eventually acknowledges its partition despite concurrent operations. Our complexity analysis supported by simulations shows that AS-cast scales well in terms of generated traffic and termination time. As such, AS-cast can constitute a new building block for geo-distributed services.; Bien qu’une solution parfaite pour le stockage et la manipulation de données au niveau des infrastructures Edge reste encore à déterminer, les approches de l’état de l’art ont d’ors et déjà démontré la pertinence des stratégies de réplication qui rapprochent le contenu des consommateurs : ces derniers bénéficient de meilleurs temps de réponse et le volume de données transitant par le réseau diminue globalement. Malheureusement, localiser la réplique la plus proche d’un contenu spécifique nécessite d’indexer chacune des répliques existantes avec leurs informations de localisation. Se fier à des services distants entre en contradiction avec les propriétés des infrastructures Edge de telle sorte que localiser des répliques prend davantage de temps que de télécharger le contenu. À l’opposé, chaque nœud ne peut maintenir l’index des toutes les répliques existantes car cela s’avèrerait extrêmement coûteux en termes de mémoire et de trafic, en particulier lorsque les nœuds sont libres de créer ou détruire des répliques à n’importe quel moment.Dans cet article, nous abstrayons l’indexation de contenu par un problème de partitionnement réparti : chacun des nœuds maintient l’index de sa réplique la plus proche, et les nœuds connectés possédant un index similaire font partie d’une même partition. Notre implémentation décentralisée nommée AS-cast est (i) efficace, car elle utilise les partitions afin de confiner le trafic généré par son fonctionnement aux seuls nœuds concernés, tout en (ii) garantissant le fait que chaque nœud finisse par identifier la partition à laquelle il appartient, et ce malgré les opérations concurrentes. Notre analyse en complexité appuyée par des simulations montre que AS-cast passe à l’échelle en termes de trafic généré et de temps de terminaison. De ce fait, AS-cast peut constituer les nouvelles fondations pour construire des services géo-distribués.

Abstract: International audience; While most viral infections cause mild symptoms and a spontaneous favorable resolution, some can lead to severe or protracted manifestations, specifically in immunocompromised hosts. Kidney injuries related to viral infections may have multiple causes related to the infection severity, drug toxicity or direct or indirect viral-associated nephropathy. We review here the described virus-associated nephropathies in order to guide diagnosis strategies and treatments in cases of acute kidney injury (AKI) occurring concomitantly with a viral infection. The occurrence of virusassociated nephropathy depends on multiple factors: the local epidemiology of the virus, its ability to infect renal cells and the patient's underlying immune response, which varies with the state of immunosuppression. Clear comprehension of pathophysiological mechanisms associated with a summary of described direct and indirect injuries should help physicians to diagnose and treat viral associated nephropathies.

Abstract: International audience; Highfidelity360 images enhance user experience and offer realistic representations for architectural design studies. Specifically, VR and hyper-realistic imaging technologies can be helpful tools to study daylight in architectural places thanks to the high level of immersion and its ability to create perceptually accurate and faithful scene representations.In this paper, we present a novel method for collecting and processing physically calibrated 360◦ stereoscopic high-dynamic range images of daylit indoor places. The future dataset aims to provide a higher degree of realism, a wide range of various luminous interior spaces supplied with information on the physical characterization of the space. This paper presents the first applications of this method on different places and discusses challenges for assessing visual perception in these images. In the near future, this dataset will be publicly available for architectural as well as multimedia studies.

158. Optimal Microgrid Sizing using Gradient-based Algorithms with Automatic Differentiation

Abstract: Warning: this manuscript was submitted to the PSCC 2022 conference and is under review.; Microgrid sizing optimization is often formulated as a black-box optimization problem. This allows modeling the microgrid with a realistic temporal simulation of the energy flows between components. Such models are usually optimized with gradient-free methods, because no analytical expression for gradient is available. However, the development of new Automatic Differentiation (AD) packages allows the efficient and exact computation of the gradient of black-box models. Thus, this work proposes to solve the optimal microgrid sizing using gradient-based algorithms with AD packages. However, physical realism of the model makes the objective function discontinuous which hinders the optimization convergence. After an appropriate smoothing, the objective is still nonconvex, but convergence is achieved for more that 90 % of the starting points. This suggest that a multi-start gradient-based algorithm can improve the state-of-the-art sizing methodologies.

Abstract: Background Up to now, in the Deese-Roediger-McDermott (DRM) paradigm, the lower production of false memories in Alzheimer's disease has been explained in terms of non-activation of the critical lure. Objectives The aim of this study was to examine the critical lure activation process from items of DRM lists in Alzheimer's patients, using a free association task. Method Twenty-six young adults, 25 older adults, and 17 Alzheimer's patients performed a free association task with DRM words. Results Analyses indicated that Alzheimer's patients produced as many critical lures in the free association task as healthy older participants, but significantly fewer than younger participants. Conclusion Our results suggest that the low production of critical lures in DRM tasks usually reported in Alzheimer's patients might not be due to a semantic deficit that prevents the activation of the critical lure.

Abstract: International audience; A major unresolved challenge in miRNA biology is the capacity to monitor the spatiotemporal activity of miRNAs expressed in animal disease models. We recently reported that the miRNA-ON monitoring system called RILES (RNAi-inducible expression Luciferase system) implanted in lentivirus expression system (LentiRILES) offers opportunity to decipher the kinetics of miRNA activity in vitro, in relation with their intracellular trafficking in glioblastoma cells. In this study we describe in detail the method for production of LentiRILES stable cell lines and employed it in several applications in the field of miRNA biology and therapy. We show that LentiRILES is a robust, highly specific and sensitive miRNA sensor system that can be used in vitro as a single-cell miRNA monitoring method, cell-based screening platform for miRNA therapeutics and as a tool to analyze the structurefunction relationship of the miRNA duplex. Furthermore, we report the kinetic of miRNA activity upon the intracranial delivery of miRNA mimics in an orthotopic animal model of glioblastoma. This information is exploited to evaluate the tumor suppressive function of miRNA-200c as locoregional therapeutic modality to treat glioblastoma. Our data provide evidence that LentiRILES is a robust system, well-suited to resolve the activity of endogenous and exogenously expressed miRNAs for basic research to gene and cell therapy.

Abstract: International audience; In this Perspective, we sketch out a vision of fast charging and self-healable energy systems that are primarily organic, feature only abundant elements, and operate with ions other than lithium. Using conductive oligomers as highly configurable building blocks, it is possible to create intrinsically adaptable conductive polymeric networks that can be rejuvenated and recycled using simple and safe chemical treatments. Using the versatile organic chemistry toolbox, these oligomers can be further functionalized, for example, with redox-active side chains for high charge storage capacity and ligands capable of complexing metal centers. Cross-linking with metal ions converts the soluble oligomers into insoluble supramolecular networks to yield high-performing electrode materials. The oligomer-based approach can thus provide an exceptional level of control to the design of organic-based battery materials.

Abstract: International audience; The relationship between concentration of sodium cations and the properties of faujasite (FAU) zeolite using a two-step synthesis procedure including (1) formation of amorphous aluminosilicate precursors and separation of amorphous nanoparticles, and (2) transformation of these amorphous particles into zeolite crystals by treatment with alkali solutions (NaOH) were studied. Three representative samples including two nano-sized zeolites and one micron-sized zeolite were prepared using different concentration of sodium hydroxide. The crystallization process of these zeolites was studied in details by FTIR, NMR, XRD, SEM, TEM, N 2 adsorption. The results indicated that minor changes in the concertation of inorganic cations can significantly shorten the induction period and crystallization time and thus affect the morphology, size and chemical composition of the zeolite crystals.

ETV6-RUNX1 and RUNX1 induce an excessive RAG recombinase activity. ETV6-RUNX1 participates directly in two events of the multi-hit ALL leukemogenesis: as an initiating event and as an activator of RAG1 expression.

Abstract: The mixing order of silica sand, clay (kaolinite), and water controls the microstructure of resulting artificial soil samples. Most homogeneous microstructures can be achieved by applying the mixing order “sand-water-clay.” The following methods were used to validate this statement: (1) optical observation, (2) X-ray tomography, (3) scanning electron microscopy, and (4) Mercury intrusion porosimetry. For all samples, clays are mainly organized in a homogeneous matrix but are also dispersed heterogeneously in micrometer-sized layers surrounding sand particles, particularly where sand grains show a greater roughness. At water contents ≥1.5 w L , the microstructures are visually similar from the mm to μm scale whatever mixing order is used. However, for water contents lower than 1.5 w L , the mixing order controls the distribution of the clay particles. This paper proposes a motivated choice of a preparation protocol of artificial clayey materials to be used in laboratory experiments. It might contribute to better understanding and modeling grain movements and arrangements in artificial muds, used for instance in underground mining, foundation settlement, hydraulic containment, road construction, soil stabilization, and in natural soils in the occurrence of soil liquefaction, industrial brick manufacturing, and in studying shear processes in tectonic fault zones.

Abstract: International audience; In this paper, we provide three notes on scheduling unit-length jobs with precedence constraints to minimize the total completion time. First, we propose an exact algorithm for in-trees, of which the complexity depends mainly on the graph height, i.e., the length of the longest chain of the precedence graph. We show that this work improves the algorithm in the literature both theoretically and experimentally. Second, we close the open problem for level-orders by showing how it is polynomially solvable. Third, we prove that preemptive scheduling in-trees is strongly NP-hard with arbitrary number of machines, of which the complexity was also open.

Abstract: International audience; In this study, we report the preparation of BODIPY-(Zn)Porphyrin hybrids and their utilization in photocatalytic H 2 production from water. These entities were employed as photosensitizers upon their chemisorption onto the surface of platinum-doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles (PtTiO 2) which acted as photocatalysts. We prepared two diverse BODIPY-(Zn)Porphyrin entities, in which the BODIPY moiety is either covalently attached (BDP-Por) or axially coordinated (BDP(Im)-Por) with the (Zn)Porphyrin; in order to evaluate the impact of the different connectivity between the chromophores in photocatalytic in H 2 evolution. Overall, we developed highly efficient dye-sensitized photocatalytic systems (DSPs) based on noble metal-free photosensitizers reaching 18,600 Turnover Numbers (TONs) and 225 mmol(H 2) g(cat)-1 h-1 .

Abstract: International audience; Diffusion-ordered NMR spectroscopy (DOSY NMR) is a widely used method for the analysis of mixtures. It can be used to separate the spectra of a mixture's components, and to analyse interactions. The classic implementation of DOSY experiments, based on an incrementation of the diffusion-encoding gradient area, requires several minutes or more to collect a 2D data set. Spatially encoded (SPEN) DOSY makes it possible to collect a complete data set in less than one second, by spatial parallelisation of the effective gradient area. While several short descriptions of SPEN DOSY experiments have been reported, a thorough characterisation of its features and its practical use is missing, and this hinders the use of the method. Here we present the unusual principles and implementation of the SPEN DOSY experiment, an understanding of which is useful to make optimal use of the method. The encoding and acquisition steps are described, and the parameter relations that govern the setup of SPEN DOSY experiments are discussed. The influence of key parameters, including on sensitivity, is illustrated experimentally on mixtures of small molecules. This study should be useful for the setup of SPEN DOSY experiments, which is particularly useful for systems that evolve in time.

Abstract: International audience; The reaction between P2-type honeycomb layered oxides Na2Ni2TeO6 and K2Ni2TeO6 enables the formation of NaKNi2TeO6. The compound is characterized by X-ray diffraction and 23Na solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and the structure is discussed through density functional theory calculations. In addition to the honeycomb Ni/Te cationic ordering, NaKNi2TeO6 exhibits a unique example of alternation of sodium and potassium layers instead of a random alkali-mixed occupancy. Stacking fault simulations underline the impact of the successive position of the Ni/Te honeycomb layers and validate the presence of multiple stacking sequences within the powder material, in proportions that evolve with the synthesis conditions. In a broader context, this work contributes to a better understanding of the alkali-mixed layered compounds.

Abstract: International audience; A low-cost dual linearly-polarized transmitarray antenna (TA) is presented for 5G and beyond networks at D-band. This TA is made of 40 40 unit-cells (UCs) and is illuminated by a stepped feed horn with a F/D ratio equal to 0.75. The flat lens panel is based on UCs with six different phase states at the center frequency of 150 GHz (thus leading in average to a 2-bit phase quantization and 0.7-dB insertion loss from 130 to 175 GHz). Each UC is made of only three metal layers and does not include any via connection to guaranty performance robustness with respect to fabrication dispersions. The measured1-dB and 3-dB TA gain bandwidths equal 16.8% and 19.8%, respectively, with a peak gain of 32 dBi, corresponding to an aperture efficiency of 32% at 150 GHz. The measured sidelobe and cross-polarization levels in E and H planes remain below -21 and -37 dB, respectively. An excellent agreement between measured and simulated radiation patterns was observed.

Abstract: International audience; The 3D characterization of radiating structures is a frequently encountered, and yet challenging, procedure. The theoretical sampling criterion often leads to prohibitive measurement duration, especially for antennas embedded on electrically large structures. However, the position of the antenna under test strongly influences the sampling requirements. By appropriately positioning the antenna with respect to the measurement system, it is possible to promote the low spatial frequency part of its spherical harmonic spectrum. We present a post-processing optimization algorithm enabling a systematic and accurate determination of the antenna best position from a given measurement dataset with no prior knowledge. This sooptimized position is exploited to improve the characterization of the antenna radiation pattern without resorting to any additional measurement sample. The proposed algorithm is validated for both near-field simulations and far-field measurements on various radiating structures, including an antenna embedded on a satellite model.

Abstract: Background Patients with electrical injury are considered to be at risk of cardiac arrhythmia. Assessing the risk of developing a major adverse cardiac event (MACE) is the cornerstone of patient management. The aim of this study was to assess the performance of initial troponin and troponin rise to predict Major Adverse Cardiac Events (MACEs) in all patients with electrical injuries admitted to the Emergency Department. Methods This is a multicentre retrospective study in which consecutive patients with electrical injuries admitted to the Emergency Departments (ED) (adult and paediatric) of five French Hospitals were included between 2005 and 2019. The threshold for troponin elevation is based on the European Society of Cardiology guidelines for patients presenting without persistent ST segment elevation. The primary endpoint was the rate of MACE. Results A total of 785 included patients were admitted to ED with a first diagnosis of electrical injury during the study period. Troponin assays were performed in 533 patients (67.9%), including 465 of 663 adults (70.1%) and 68 of 122 children (55.7%) and 17/533 (3.2%) of patients had an initial elevated troponin. If none of the clinical criteria for MACE were present (i.e., previous known heart disease, exposure to a high voltage of ≥ 1000 Volts, initial loss of consciousness, or an abnormal initial ECG), this defined a low-risk subgroup (n = 573, 76.0%) that could be safely discharged. The initial positive troponin assay had a sensitivity of 83.3 (95% CI 35.9–99.6%), a specificity of 97.7 (95% CI 96.1–98.8%), a positive likelihood ratio 36.6 (95% CI 18.8–71.1%) and a negative predictive value of 99.9 (95% CI 99.2–99.9%) in predicting a MACE. Conclusions Troponin assay appears to be a predictive marker of MACE risk and should be considered in high-risk patients.

Abstract: International audience; Sheep are one of the many animal models used to investigate the pathophysiology of disc degeneration and the regenerative strategies for intervertebral disc (IVD) disease. To date, few studies have thoroughly explored ageing of ovine lumbar IVDs. Hence, the objective of the present study was to concomitantly assess the development of spontaneous age-related lumbar IVD degeneration in sheep using X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as well as histological analyses. 8 young ewes (< 48 months old) and 4 skeletally mature ewes (> 48 months old) were included. Disc height, Pfirrmann and modified Pfirrmann grades as well as T2-wsi and T2 times were assessed by X-ray and MRI. The modified Boos score was also determined using histology sections. Pfirrmann (2 to 3) and modified Pfirrmann (2 to 4) grades as well as Boos scores (7 to 13) gradually increased with ageing, while T2-weighted signal intensity (1.18 to 0.75), T2 relaxation time (114.36 to 70.65 ms) and disc height (4.1 to 3.2 mm) decreased significantly. All the imaging modalities strongly correlated with the histology (p < 0.0001). The present study described the suitability of sheep as a model of age-related IVD degeneration by correlation of histological tissue alterations with the changes observed using X-ray and MRI. Given the structural similarities with humans, the study demonstrated that sheep warrant being considered as a pertinent animal model to investigate IVD regenerative strategies without induction of degeneration.

A dualization appears, between a new supervisory staff, away from social work, and daily managers now responsible for the application of new prescriptions. Abstract: Energy consumption of Wireless Sensor Networks including On/Off keying (OOK) transmitter is important for short range transmission and long battery life time requirements. In order to improve the energy efficiency of an OOK transmitter, the Minimum Energy (ME) coding strategy is adopted in this paper. We first give the energy consumption model based on a real OOK transmitter, which has an energy efficiency of 52 pJ/bit by completely switching off the transmitter during the transmission of low bit ’0’. Based on this energy consumption model, ME-Coding provides an energy efficiency of 30 pJ/bit for coding size $$k=3$$ . Moreover, larger coding size offers more significant improvement, at the sacrifice of spectral efficiency and transmission range. In this paper, we have also determined a closed-form solution for the optimal coding size for a given transmission range constraint.

Abstract: Cet article met en lien le developpement du cohousing, autrement dit des communautes residentielles intentionnelles denommees egalement habitat participatif, avec la question du vieillissement des individus, l’objectif etant de voir si cette forme d’habitat est susceptible de favoriser la notion de « ageing well ». L’exploitation d’une base de donnees permet dans un premier temps d’avoir une vision statistique et geographique du cohousing en Amerique du Nord. Puis, l’etude porte sur l’analyse des modes de vie en vue d’observer si ce type d’habitat est favorable au bien vieillir. Dans cette perspective, la region de Cascadia, comprenant la Colombie-Britannique au Canada, ainsi que les Etats de Washington et de l’Oregon aux Etats-Unis, a ete investiguee, dans la mesure ou il s’agit d’une des principales zones d’implantation du cohousing en Amerique du Nord. Cet habitat offre un espace de vie ainsi qu’un cadre relationnel emplis de promesses d’un vieillissement choisi et apaise. Le sens de la communaute, de l’entraide, du consensus, de l’interaction entre generations ou encore de l’effort (parfois physique) commun representeraient ainsi des valeurs explicitement responsables d’un vieillir mieux.

Abstract: Our paper deals with the stabilization of a class of time-dependent linear autonomous complex systems with a switched structure. The initially given switched dynamic system is assumed to be controlled by a specific state feedback strategy associated with the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) type control. The proposed control design guarantees stabilization of the closed-loop system for all of the possible location transitions. In the solution procedure of the Algebraic Riccati Equation related to the LQR control strategy, only the knowledge of the algebraic structure related to the switched system are needed. We prove that the proposed optimal LQR type state feedback control design stabilizes the closed-loop switched system for every possible active location. The theoretical approach proposed in this paper is finally applied to a model of the Single Wing Quadrotor Aircraft, when changing from its Quadrotor Flight Envelope to its Airplane Flight Envelope.

Abstract: Investment Casting (IC), using the wax pattern, produces metal parts with a high surface finish and complex geometries within acceptable tolerances. However, removing the wax patterns can have processing challenges, such as thermal expansion during wax melting for pattern removal leading to shell cracking defects, the release of hydrocarbons from melting wax, and the burnt residue from this process. To overcome these challenges, it has been proposed to replace wax with ice as a pattern material. Ice has an inherent benefit of reduction of volume during its phase change from solid to liquid. It helps to reduce cracking due to expansion. Rapid Freeze Prototyping (RFP) and Freeze Cast Process (FCP) can produce the ice pattern. In the process of Rapid Ice Investment Casting (RIIC), the ice pattern is invested with a low-temperature ceramic slurry to make ceramic shells for metal casting. Sublimation is used for ice pattern evacuation at sub-zero conditions using a vacuum. Estimating various properties like time for total sublimation, concentration gradient, and energy usage are vital for process characterization and optimization. A diffusion-based mathematical model has been proposed and experimentally verified to sublimate the ice patterns in this research. Experimental results show a close correlation (96.74%) with the theoretical model. The demonstration of ice investment casting has been carried out, and it reported close dimensional accuracy.

Abstract: ConspectusAstatine (At) is the rarest on Earth of all naturally occurring elements, situated below iodine in the periodic table. While only short-lived isotopes (t1/2 ≤ 8.1 h) are known, 211At is the object of growing attention due to its emission of high-energy alpha particles. Such radiation is highly efficient to eradicate disseminated tumors, provided that the radionuclide is attached to a cancer-targeting molecule. The interest in applications of 211At in nuclear medicine translates into the increasing number of cyclotrons able to produce it. Yet, many challenges related to the minute amounts of available astatine are to be overcome in order to characterize its physical and chemical properties. This point is of paramount importance to develop synthetic strategies and solve the labeling instability in current approaches that limits the use of 211At-labeled radiopharmaceuticals. Despite its discovery in the 1940s, only the past decade has seen a significant rise in the understanding of astatine's basic chemical and radiochemical properties, thanks to the development of new analytical and computational tools.In this Account, we give a concise summary of recent advances in the determination of the physicochemical properties of astatine, putting in perspective the duality of this element which exhibits the characteristics both of a halogen and of a metal. Striking features were evidenced in the recent determination of its Pourbaix diagram such as the identification of stable cationic species, At+ and AtO+, contrasting with other halogens. Like metals, these species were shown to form complexes with anionic ligands and to exhibit a particular affinity for organic species bearing soft donor atoms. On the other hand, astatine shares many characteristics with other halogen elements. For instance, the At- species exists in water, but with the least range of EH-pH stability in the halogen series. Astatine can form molecular interactions through halogen bonding, and it was only recently identified as the strongest halogen-bond donor. This ability is nonetheless affected by relativistic effects, which translate to other peculiarities for this heavy element. For instance, the spin-orbit coupling boosts astatine's propensity to form charge-shift bonds, catching up with the behavior of the lightest halogens (fluorine, chlorine).All these new data have an impact on the development of radiolabeling strategies to turn 211At into radiopharmaceuticals. Inspired by the chemistry of iodine, the chemical approaches have sparsely evolved over the past decades and have long been limited to electrophilic halodemetalation reactions to form astatoaryl compounds. Conversely, recent developments have favored the use of the more stable At- species including the aromatic nucleophilic substitution with diaryliodonium salts or the copper-catalyzed halodeboronation of arylboron precursors. However, it is clear that new bonding modalities are necessary to improve the in vivo stability of 211At-labeled aryl compounds. The tools and data gathered over the past decade will contribute to instigate original strategies for overcoming the challenges offered by this enigmatic element. Alternatives to the C-At bond such as the B-At and the metal-At bonds are typical examples of exciting new axes of research.

Abstract: International audience; BACKGROUND: The first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in a drastic reduction in kidney transplantation and a profound change in transplant care in France. It is critical for kidney transplant centers to understand the behaviors, concerns and wishes of transplant recipients and waiting list candidates. METHODS: French kidney patients were contacted to answer an online electronic survey at the end of the lockdown. RESULTS: At the end of the first wave of the pandemic in France (11 May 2020), 2112 kidney transplant recipients and 487 candidates answered the survey. More candidates than recipients left their home during the lockdown, mainly for health care (80.1% vs. 69.4%; P\textless0.001). More candidates than recipients reported being exposed to Covid-19 patients (2.7% vs. 1.2%; P=0.006). Many recipients and even more candidates felt inadequately informed by their transplant center during the pandemic (19.6% vs. 54%; P\textless0.001). Among candidates, 71.1% preferred to undergo transplant as soon as possible, 19.5% preferred to wait until Covid-19 had left their community, and 9.4% were not sure what to do. CONCLUSIONS: During the Covid-19 pandemic in France, the majority of candidates wished to receive a transplant as soon as possible without waiting until Covid-19 had left their community. Communication between kidney transplant centers and patients must be improved to better understand and serve patients' needs.

Abstract: KIR are mainly expressed on NK cells and to a lesser extent on T lymphocytes. Although the KIR NK cell repertoire was well explored in haploidentical Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT), KIR T cell compartment remains to be investigated in this context. In this study, the investigation of NK receptors on T lymphocytes during immune reconstitution after T-cell-replete haploidentical HSCT with Post-Transplant Cyclophosphamide (PTCy) has shown a significant increase of KIR2DL2/3+T cell frequency at day 25. This was especially observed at day 30 in recipients who relapsed. IL-15 but not IL-12 increased in vitro KIR+T cell expansion suggesting that the raised IL-15 serum concentration observed after PTCy in haploidentical HSCT might increase KIR+T cell frequency. Moreover, investigations from healthy blood donors showed a higher inhibiting effect of KIR2DL3 on CMV specific T cell response against allogeneic than autologous C1+target cells. The association of KIR+T cell subset with relapse may suggest that inhibitory KIR2DL2/3 limit anti-leukemic effect of specific T lymphocytes at this early step of immune reconstitution. Further phenotypic and mechanistic investigations on this cell subset from a broader cohort of HSCT recipients should clarify its potential implication in relapse occurrence. Our results demonstrate that KIR-HLA interactions known to modulate NK cell functions also modulate T cell immune responses in the context of allogeneic HSCT.

186. Recommendations for planning and delivery of radical radiotherapy for localized urothelial carcinoma of the bladder

Abstract: International audience; Purpose: Curative radio-chemotherapy is recognized as a standard treatment option for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). Nevertheless, the technical aspects for MIBC radiotherapy are heterogeneous with a lack of practical recommendations.Methods and materials: In 2018, a workshop identified the need for two cooperative groups to develop consistent, evidence-based guidelines for irradiation technique in the delivery of curative radiotherapy. Two radiation oncologists performed a review of the literature addressing several topics relative to radical bladder radiotherapy: planning computed tomography acquisition, target volume delineation, radiation schedules (total dose and fractionation) and dose delivery (including radiotherapy techniques, image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) and adaptive treatment modalities). Searches for original and review articles in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases were conducted from January 1990 until March 2020. During a meeting conducted in October 2020, results on 32 topics were presented and discussed with a working group involving 15 radiation oncologists, 3 urologists and one medical oncologist. We applied the American Urological Association guideline development's method to define a consensus strategy.Results: A consensus was obtained for all 34 except 4 items. The group did not obtain an agreement on CT enhancement added value for planning, PTV margins definition for empty bladder and full bladder protocols, and for pelvic lymph-nodes irradiation. High quality evidence was shown in 6 items; 8 items were considered as low quality of evidence.Conclusion: The current recommendations propose a homogenized modality of treatment both for routine clinical practice and for future clinical trials, following the best evidence to date, analyzed with a robust methodology. The XXX group formulates practical guidelines for the implementation of innovative techniques such as adaptive radiotherapy.

Abstract: International audience; As a general-purpose force field for molecular simulations of layered materials and their fluid interfaces, Clayff continues to see broad usage in atomistic computational modeling for numerous geoscience and materials science applications due to its (1) success in predicting properties of bulk nanoporous materials and their interfaces, (2) transferability to a range of layered and nanoporous materials, and (3) simple functional form which facilitates incorporation into a variety of simulation codes. Here, we review applications of Clayff to model bulk phases and interfaces not included in the original parameter set and recent modifications for modeling surface terminations such as hydroxylated nanoparticle edges. We conclude with a discussion of expectations for future developments.

Abstract: International audience; Biosourced materials for organic electronics generate an increasing interest in the development of "eco-friendly" electronics. In fact, a considerable attention is focused on green polymers in order to reduce the impact of petroleum-sourced ones and to preserve the environmental sustainability, particularly in plant-derived materials. Such materials can provide huge potential such as the development of low-cost, large-area, and biocompatible electronic devices with good mechanical properties, for a large panel of applications, including biological and medical fields. In this paper, we report on the feasibility, the performance, and the electrical stability of flexible N-type organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) based on an agar biosubstrate and fullerene C-60 organic semiconductor. The fabricated OFETs exhibit a field-effect mobility mu(FE) = 7 x 10(-2) cm(2).V-1.s(-1), a threshold voltage V-TH = 14 V, a subthreshold slope SS = 4 V.dec(-1), and an on/off ratio I-Don/I-Doff = 7 x 10(3). The electrical characteristics of biosubstrate OFETs are presented and compared to those of OFETs fabricated on the glass substrate.

Abstract: Background Social communication disorder (SCD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that includes communication difficulties. Literature linking SCD and addictions is scarce, and there are only a few case reports regarding the co-occurrence of addiction and autism disorder spectrum, and only one of them addressed behavioural addictions. Case presentation We report MC’s case, who displayed an SCD and sexual addiction (SA). Clinical and neuropsychological evaluations suggested an alteration of social cognition, especially of affective theory of mind. This article also presents the adaptation made of the usual treatment. Discussion This case report illustrates the importance of social cognition abilities in the development and maintenance of behavioural addictions, and specifically SA. It also highlights the possible comorbidity of these two disorders and the possibility to work on social cognition as an alternate therapy in the treatment of behavioural addictions. Conclusions The co-occurrence of SCD and a behavioural addiction triggered clinical adaptations and implications that may affect a patient’s treatment presenting one of these disorders.

Abstract: International audience; Introduction: Multiple myeloma (MM) is still considered incurable and the outcome of patients with triple-class refractory remains very poor. Immunotherapy is considered as a standard of care for the treatment of MM. Among immunotherapeutic approaches, the PD-1/PD-L1 axis is an attractive target because PD-L1 is highly expressed in most myeloma plasma cells. While many types of cancer benefit from checkpoint inhibitor treatment, their relevance in multiple myeloma needs to be defined.Areas covered: The authors evaluate the published data regarding the mechanism of action, safety profile, and clinical efficacy of the immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) for the treatment of multiple myeloma.Expert opinion: The use of ICI monotherapy does not offer any clinical benefit in myeloma patients. In combination with immunomodulatory drugs (IMID), ICI failed to demonstrate clinical benefit and were associated with increased toxicity. Given the toxicities of these treatments, predictive markers would be useful to select patients who would benefit most. Clinical studies are necessary to evaluate the safety and efficacy of checkpoint inhibitors in combination with other standards of care such as proteasome inhibitors and monoclonal antibodies. The combination of anti-PD-1 with T-cell engager (TCE) or CAR-T cells seems theoretically attractive and should be explored in clinical trials.

Abstract: International audience; The search for simple, low-cost, versatile, easily accessible, stimuli-responsive, highly emissive molecular fluorophores emitting both in solution and in the solid-state has prompted us to investigate the optical properties of a series of synthetically accessible salicyladehyde derivatives possessing a π-conjugated moiety at their 4-position. These dyes are mainly known as synthetic intermediates but can also display sizeable Excited-State Intramolecular Proton Transfer (ESIPT) fluorescence owing to the presence of a 6-membered H-bonded ring in their structure. The photophysical properties of these compounds have been studied in solution (multiple solvents) and in the solid-state, as doped in PMMA films, leading to the observation of a pronounced fluorosolvatochromism. Modification of the spacer (ethynyl, vinyl or direct connection) involved the π-delocalization triggers major differences in terms of maximum emission wavelength and fluorescence quantum yields in the various media studied. All photophysical observations are rationalized by first-principle calculations.

While the lack of accurate and comprehensive inventories at the national scale makes them difficult to manage, advances in spatial modeling using open remote sensing data and open-source software, as well as the increasing use of ecological archives, provide new perspectives for mapping natural habitats. In this context, this study evaluated the contribution of spectral and environmental variables to discriminate and then map grassland habitats throughout France. To this end, 92 spectral variables derived from moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer data, 19 bioclimatic variables derived from WorldClim data, 4 topographic variables derived from the European Union Digital Elevation Model (DEM), and 8 soil variables derived from SoilGrids data were combined at a spatial resolution of 250 m. Reference plots that characterized 6 and 21 grassland ecosystems at European Nature Information System (EUNIS) levels 2 (broad habitats) and 3 (habitats), respectively, were collected from vegetation archives. We first performed descriptive analysis that included habitat description, ordination, and pairwise separability. We then performed predictive analysis of grassland habitats using a cross-validated random forest model that included a spatial constraint. While environmental and spectral variables characterized most grassland habitats well and consistently, some confusion occurred between habitats with similar abiotic conditions. The main grassland habitat types were correctly mapped at EUNIS level 2 ( F1 score = 0.68), but not at EUNIS level 3 ( F1 score = 0.52). In addition, the two variables that contributed most to the model were the near-infrared spectral band in spring and the minimum temperature of the coldest month. The model’s prediction at EUNIS level 2 for mainland France provides the map of grassland habitats at a new spatial scale.

Abstract: Summary Background Two billion peripheral venous catheters are sold globally each year, but the optimal skin disinfection and types of devices are not well established. We aimed to show the superiority of disinfection with 2% chlorhexidine plus alcohol over 5% povidone iodine plus alcohol in preventing infectious complications, and of closed integrated catheters, positive displacement needleless-connectors, disinfecting caps, and single-use prefilled flush syringes used in combination (innovation group) over open catheters and three-way stopcocks for treatment administration (standard group) in preventing catheter failure. Methods We did an open-label, randomised-controlled trial with a two-by-two factorial design, for which we enrolled adults (age ≥18 years) visiting the emergency department at the Poitiers University Hospital, France, and requiring one peripheral venous catheter before admission to the medical wards. Before catheter insertion, patients were randomly assigned (1:1:1:1) using a secure web-based random-number generator to one of four treatment groups based on skin preparation and type of devices (innovative devices or standard devices; 2% chlorhexidine plus alcohol or 5% povidone iodine plus alcohol). Primary outcomes were the incidence of infectious complications (local infection, catheter colonisation, or bloodstream infections) and time between catheter insertion and catheter failure (occlusion, dislodgment, infiltration, phlebitis, or infection). This study is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov , NCT03757143 . Findings 1000 patients were recruited between Jan 7, and Sept 6, 2019, of whom 500 were assigned to the chlorhexidine plus alcohol group and 500 to the povidone iodine plus alcohol group (250 with innovative solutions and 250 with standard devices in each antiseptic group). No significant interaction was found between the two study interventions. Local infections occurred less frequently with chlorhexidine plus alcohol than with povidone iodine plus alcohol (0 [0%] of 496 patients vs six [1%] of 493 patients) and the same was observed for catheter colonisation (4/431 [1%] vs 70/415 [17%] catheters among the catheters cultured; adjusted subdistribution hazard ratio 0·08 [95% CI 0·02–0·18]). Median time between catheter insertion and catheter failure was longer in the innovation group compared with the standard group (50·4 [IQR 29·6–69·4] h vs 30·0 [16·6–52·6] h; p=0·0017). Minor skin reactions occurred in nine (2%) patients in the chlorhexidine plus alcohol group and seven (1%) patients in the povidone iodine plus alcohol group. Interpretation For skin antisepsis, chlorhexidine plus alcohol provides greater protection of peripheral venous catheter-related infectious complications than does povidone iodine plus alcohol. Abstract: Objectives To determine whether shear wave velocity (SWV) of the iliotibial band (ITB): i) increases with active and passive static tasks, and a dynamic task, ii) differs between ITB regions, iii) changes after exposure to running. Additionally, it aimed to determine the between-day reliability. Design Case series & test-retest. Setting Human movement unit laboratory. Participants Fifteen runners. Main outcome measures SWV was measured unilaterally in three regions of the ITB (proximal, middle and distal), during six tasks: rest and contraction (pre- and post-running), modified Ober test, standing, pelvic drop, and weight shift. Results Compared to rest, SWV was higher during contraction and Ober test in the distal and middle regions, and higher for the middle region in standing and pelvic drop. No differences were found between regions. A tendency of decreased SWV was observed after running. Compared to the start of the dynamic task, SWV was greater at the end of the movement. Reliability was moderate-to-good for the middle region in the standing tasks (ICCs = 0.68 to 0.84). Conclusion SVW of the ITB was higher under passive or active tension. Comparisons between tasks/regions need to be considered in light of the small sample size and poor repeatability of some regions/conditions.

Abstract: High‐order sliding mode control laws with gain adaptation algorithms are applied, in Region III, on a floating offshore wind turbine equipped by permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). These adaptive control methods are especially efficient for systems with uncertainties and external perturbations and are well adapted to wind turbines systems. Such controllers can be implemented with very reduced knowledge of system model (only the relative degree is necessary) and strongly reduce the controller gains tuning effort. Simulations are made on Fatigue, Aerodynamics, Structures and Turbulence (FAST) software and compared with standard gain‐scheduled proportional–integral (PI) controllers.

Abstract: International audience; Ever since hematopoietic cells became "events" enumerated and characterized in suspension by cell counters or flow cytometers, researchers and engineers have strived to refine the acquisition and display of the electronic signals generated. A large array of solutions was then developed to identify at best the numerous cell subsets that can be delineated, notably among hematopoietic cells. As instruments became more and more stable and robust, the focus moved to analytic software. Almost concomitantly, the capacity increased to use large panels (both with mass and classical cytometry) and to apply artificial intelligence/machine learning for their analysis. The combination of these concepts raised new analytical possibilities, opening an unprecedented field of subtle exploration for many conditions, including hematopoiesis and hematological disorders. In this review, the general concepts and progress achieved in the development of new analytical approaches for exploring high-dimensional data sets at the single-cell level will be described as they appeared over the past few years. A larger and more practical part will detail the various steps that need to be mastered, both in data acquisition and in the preanalytical check of data files. Finally, a step-by-step explanation of the solution in development to combine the Bioconductor clustering algorithm FlowSOM and the popular and widely used software Kaluza® (Beckman Coulter) will be presented. Abstract: International audience; This paper presents the exact closed-form solution for a new planar lens, hereinafter referred to as Reflecting Luneburg Lens (RLL). The proposed structure consists of two stacked parallel plate waveguides of circular shape. The rays generated by a point source located at the periphery of the bottom waveguide propagate along curvilinear paths, whose trajectories result from a variable refractive index profile with azimuthal symmetry. Then, these rays encounter a reflecting boundary and emerge all parallel in the upper uniform waveguide. The behavior of this lens resembles that of a flat Luneburg lens, with the fundamental difference that it works in reflection. The exact refractive index profile is found by solving the non-linear integral equation of ray-congruence trough a truncated Abel transform method. The concept is numerically verified through different implementations of the effective refractive index profile, including a metasurface-based implementation. The proposed lens triggers new possibilities that the normal flat Luneburg lens does not offer, and it is applicable in a large variety of microwave, terahertz and optical devices.

Abstract: The small, regulatory RNA RepG (Regulator of polymeric G-repeats) regulates the expression of the chemotaxis receptor TlpB in Helicobacter pylori by targeting a variable G-repeat in the tlpB mRNA leader. Here, we show that RepG additionally controls lipopolysaccharide (LPS) phase variation by also modulating the expression of a gene (hp0102) that is co-transcribed with tlpB. The hp0102 gene encodes a glycosyltransferase required for LPS O-chain biosynthesis and in vivo colonization of the mouse stomach. The G-repeat length defines a gradual (rather than ON/OFF) control of LPS biosynthesis by RepG, and leads to gradual resistance to a membrane-targeting antibiotic. Thus, RepG-mediated modulation of LPS structure might impact host immune recognition and antibiotic sensitivity, thereby helping H. pylori to adapt and persist in the host., The small RNA RepG modulates expression of chemotaxis receptor TlpB in Helicobacter pylori by targeting a length-variable G-repeat in the tlpB mRNA. Here, Pernitzsch et al. show that RepG also gradually controls lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis, antibiotic susceptibility, and in-vivo colonization of the stomach, by regulating a gene that is co-transcribed with tlpB.

Abstract: International audience; The chimeric antigen receptor T-cells are a new class of anticancer treatment consisting in genetically modifying autologous or allogenic T-cells to make express a CAR directed against a membrane tumor antigen. In Europe, tisagenlecleucel (KymriahTM) has a marketing authorization for the treatment of relapsed/refractory (R/R) B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children and young adults and of R/R diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The marketing authorization for axicabtagene ciloleucel (YescartaTM) is the treatment of DLBCL and primary R/R mediastinal B-cell lymphoma. The two products are autologous T-cells directed against CD19. This collaborative work, part of a series of expert opinion-based work, aims to give practical advice to help centers in selection of patients for commercially available CAR T-cell treatment.
