Reduced transition probabilities have been measured for the neutron-rich Ni73,74,75 nuclei with relativistic Coulomb excitation performed at the RIKEN Nishina Center. For the even-even Ni isotope the determined B(E2;0+→2+) value is compatible within errors with the result of a previous intermediate energy Coulomb excitation experiment, although being somewhat larger. For the odd Ni isotopes B(E2) values have been determined for the first time. In the middle νg9/2 shell nucleus Ni73 three peak candidates have been observed and tentatively assigned to the (5/2+), (13/2+), and (11/2+) excitations. Two peak candidates have been observed in Ni75 and tentatively assigned to the (13/2+) and (11/2+) levels. The measured B(E2) values are in line with the large B(E2) reported in Ni70 and at variance with the small strength measured in Ni72. Excitation energies compare well with the result of large-scale shell-model calculations, while B(E2) values are larger than predicted. This could indicate an increasing contribution of proton excitations across the Z=28 shell closure when approaching Ni78.

We conducted weekly intraperitoneal administration of paclitaxel (IP-PTX) with monthly intravenous administration of carboplatin (IV-CBDCA), as a prospective phase 1/2 setting. The purpose of this study was to assess the pharmacokinetics and to decide the recommended dose (RD) according to modified Fibonacci method. Patients aged 20-75 years old with histological confirmed mullerian cancers (epithelial ovarian cancer; EOC, fallopian tubal cancer; FTC, and primary peritoneal cancer; PPC) from stage IC to IV or the patients with recurrent disease with small residual disease (including retention of ascetic fluid, para-aortic nodes recurrence after optimal debulked after interval debulking surgery; IDS) were eligible. The protocol regimen consisted of IP-PTX on day1 (D1), 8, and 15, at a starting dose level 1(DL1) of 45 mg/m2, with 15 mg/ m2 incremental, and IV-CBDCA was fixed dose AUC 5.0 mg/mL.min on D1, monthly. The accrual period was from August 2000 until September 2005. As for result, twelve patients were enrolled. No dose limiting toxicity (DLT) was observed in DL1. In dose level 2 (DL2, 60 mg/m2), one grade 3 (G3) hypersensitive reaction to CBDCA was detected. Further 5 patients had been enrolled but additional DLT was not identified. The RD was decided as DL2, which was the same dose of RD in weekly IP-PTX reported by Francis et al. The serum AUCs of PTX in DL1 and DL2 were 1605 nM.min and 2365 nM.min, respectively. By serum CA125, five complete responses were observed out of 8 evaluable patients by Rustin’s criteria. In conclusion, the combination of weekly IP-PTX and monthly IV-CBDCA at AUC 5.0 mg/mL.min was feasible and the recommended dose of IP-PTX was 60 mg/m2. The therapy was moderate effective for optimal debulking mullerian carcinomas. From our pharmacokinetic results, as for the patients with extra-pelvic lesions, additional IV-PTX would be necessary like GOG 172 experimental arm.

Harnessing the quantum interference of the pair generation processes, infrared quantum spectroscopy, based on nonlinear interferometers with visible-infrared photon-pair sources, enables the extraction of the infrared optical properties of a sample through visible photon detection without the need for an infrared optical source or detector. We develop a theoretical framework for quantum Fourier-transform infrared (QFTIR) spectroscopy. The proposed Fourier analysis method, which fully utilizes the phase information in the interferogram, allows us to determine the complex transmittance and optical constants for a sample in a simple setup without the use of any dispersive optics for spectral selection. In the experimental demonstrations, the transmittance spectrum of a bandpass filter and the refractive index of silica glass are measured in the near-infrared region using QFTIR operated in a low gain regime; these results agree well with the independently measured spectrum using a conventional spectrometer and an value estimated from references. The Borromean halo nucleus $^{6}$He has been studied by a kinematically complete measurement of Coulomb and nuclear breakup into α + 2n on Pb and C targets at 70 MeV/nucleon. Fully quantum-mechanical four-body breakup calculations reproduce the energy and angular differential cross sections below Erel∼1 MeV for both targets. The model used here reproduces the $^{6}$He ground-state properties as well as α-n and n-n scattering data and predicts an average opening angle 〈θnn〉 of 68$^{∘}$ between the two halo neutrons. However, the model underestimates the breakup cross sections for higher Erel, indicating a possible contribution from the inelastic breakup. Alternatively, we examine the empirically modified calculations that reproduce the energy-differential cross sections for a wide range of scattering angles for both targets. The extracted B(E1) peaks at Erel∼1.4 MeV and amounts to 1.6(2) e$^{2}$fm$^{2}$ for Erel ≤ 20 MeV, resulting 〈θnn〉 = 56−10+9 degrees. In either interpretation, the current results show evidence of the dineutron spatial correlation in $^{6}$He.

The nuclear structure of $^{51}$Ar, an uncharted territory so far, was studied by the (p,2p) reaction using γ-ray spectroscopy for the bound states and the invariant mass method for the unbound states. Two peaks were detected in the γ-ray spectrum and six peaks were observed in the $^{50}$Ar+n relative energy spectrum. Comparing the results to our shell-model calculations, two bound and six unbound states were established. Three of the unbound states could only be placed tentatively due to the low number of counts in the relative energy spectrum of events associated with the decay through the first excited state of $^{50}$Ar. The low cross sections populating the two bound states of $^{51}$Ar could be interpreted as a clear signature for the presence of significant subshell closures at neutron numbers 32 and 34 in argon isotopes. It was also revealed that due to the two valence holes, unbound collective states coexist with individual-particle states in $^{51}$Ar.

In March 2021, following the annual International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) ratifcation vote on newly proposed taxa, the phylum Negarnaviricota was amended and emended. The phylum was expanded by four families (Aliusviridae, Crepuscuviridae, Myriaviridae, and Natareviridae), three subfamilies (Alpharhabdovirinae, Betarhabdovirinae, and Gammarhabdovirinae), 42 genera, and 200 species. Thirty-nine species were renamed and/ or moved and seven species were abolished. This article presents the updated taxonomy of Negarnaviricota as now accepted by the ICTV
