This paper aims to determine the relationships between supply chain agility (SCA) in different directions and the operations of the firms operating in emerging nations. An additional objective of this paper is to establish the mediating role of innovative climate in the specific domain. The quantitative field study was conducted on a sample of different SME's managers in Pakistan; 200 surveys were distributed, and the search engine marketing (SEM) technique was utilized to analyze the outcome. Several factors of SCA in the supply chain have been taken into consideration to determine the links of supply chain performance (SCP) and to ascertain the effects of SCP and SCA. SCA factors like swiftness (FAWC) and alertness (FASC) were utilized to establish those linkages towards SCP along with mediating the role of innovative climate. On the basis of calculations, it was observed that there is a positive linkage between FASC and SCP. The linkage of FSWC was also found positive on SCP. Therefore, this study ascertains the fact that FAWC and FASC contain positive connections with the SCP having a positive mediating influence on the innovative climate in the domain of Pakistan. This paper contributed to establishing the fact that innovative climate positively mediates the relationships between FAWC and SCP of the organizations as well as between FASC and SCP, respectively. Such findings confirm the significance of an innovative climate in the organizations, which further support achieving the organization SCP. The findings of this study have implications for sales managers, policymakers, and practitioners who may be interested in considering the impact of personality from a sales perspective.

Supply chain operations of construction industry including road projects in disaster regions results in exceeding project budget and timelines. In road construction projects, supply chain with poor performance can affect efficiency and completion time of the project. This is also the case of the road projects in disaster areas. Disaster areas consider both natural and man-made disasters. Few examples of disaster zones are; Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sri Lanka, India, Japan, Haiti and many other countries with similar environments. The key factors affecting project performance and execution are insecurity, uncertainties in demand and supply, poor communication and technology, poor infrastructure, lack of political and government will, unmotivated organizational staff, restricted accessibility to construction materials, legal hitches, multiple challenges of hiring labour force and exponential construction rates due to high risk environment along with multiple other factors. The managers at all tiers are facing challenges of overrunning time and budget of supply chain operations during planning as well as execution phase of development projects. The aim of research is to develop a Multiple Linear Regression Model (MLRM) and a Rule Based Decision Support System by incorporating various factors affecting supply chain management of road projects in disaster areas in the order of importance. This knowledge base (KB) (importance / coefficient of each factor) will assist infrastructure managers (road projects) and practitioners in disaster regions in decision making to minimize the effect of each factor which will further help them in project improvement. Conduct of Literature Review in the fields of disaster areas, supply chain operational environments of road project, statistical techniques, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and types of research approaches has provided deep insights to the researchers. An initial questionnaire was developed and distributed amongst participants as pilot project and consequently results were analysed. The results' analysis enabled the researcher to extract key variables impacting supply chain performance of road project. The results of questionnaire analysis will facilitate development of Multiple Linear Regression Model, which will eventually be verified and validated with real data from actual environments. The development of Multiple Linear Regression Model and Rule Based Decision Support System incorporating all factors which affect supply chain performance of road projects in disastrous regions is the most vital contribution to the research. The significance and novelty of this research is the methodology developed that is the integration of those different methods which will be employed to measure the SCM performance of road projects in disaster areas.

Freight movements and deliveries into dense urban US regions challenge businesses and governments working within constrained resources to meet customer and societal needs. We examine the relationship between public and private investments in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) as complementary drivers to improve supply chain performance (SCP) and community livability and safety (CL&S). A research framework drawn on precepts from complementarity theory combined with business intelligence and shared value is developed. We propose five key propositions and provide a taxonomy of ITS benefits mapped to SCP and CL&S based on our literature review and industry interviews. Our conceptual study results suggest that increased information sharing provided by ITS infrastructure can contribute to the public and private realms by creating synergy. The study informs managers from a practical perspective regarding the shared value model synergies evident from ITS investment decisions. We discuss theoretical and managerial contributions, study limitations, and directions for future research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: In the supply chain risk management literature, many reviews have been conducted to provide a full understanding of various aspects such as role of simulation and optimization methods in risk management, classification of risks, classification of risk mitigation strategies, and supply chain risk definitions. However, a structured review of risk impact on performance in supply chains is still lacking. Such a review is useful because the literature implies that maintaining and improving performance in risk environments are critically important to the business survival of firms in supply chains. Design/methodology/approach: This review synthesizes and analyses 48 papers published in journals from 2006 to 2020 based on the following criteria: risk type, impact mechanisms of risk (i.e., direct and indirect), performance, research method, research setting, and risk mitigation strategy. Findings: The findings conclude that the impact of risk on performance is complicated and influenced by many factors namely antecedents, mediators, and moderators. Originality/value: This review contributes to the theoretical development of SCRM research through the analysis of SCR impact mechanisms, and indicate gaps of knowledge and future research opportunities. Moreover, it helps managers to devise appropriate risk mitigation strategies thanks to a full understanding of risk impact mechanisms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Predicting future promotion information on markdowns, customers can maximize their utilities by deciding when to buy. With this strategic behavior, this paper investigates a downside-risk-averse retailer's integrated stock and pricing problem using a single case study method. Analyzing effects of the downside risk aversion and strategic customers is our purpose. By exploring a two-phase newsvendor model with a retailer selling to strategic customers, our work determines the downside-risk-averse retailer's equilibrium ordering level and selling price. On this basis, effects of the downside risk aversion and the strategic behavior on the retailer's optimum decisions and profit are analyzed. We find that the reverse effect of the strategic behavior can be mitigated by the retailer's downside risk constraint. We also extend the model to a decentralized supply chain case. It is found that a low (high) downside risk aversion would mean that the supply chain profit in the decentralized case can (cannot) dominate the centralized under some (any) wholesale price contracts when customers are strategic. In addition, for different risk aversions, we also construct contracts to optimize the supply chain profit. Our results will provide reference evidence of making operational management decisions for the downside-risk-averse retailer in the case of strategic customers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper brings to light the powerful connection between buyer and supplier relationships in terms of information sharing, information quality, and supply chain performance. We show supply chain partners coordinate their activities by offering high-quality information to enable interactions between buyers and providers. We show information sharing acts as a mediator between information quality and supply chain performance. A survey is distributed to suppliers of key industrial businesses active in the manufacturing sector to collect empirical data. Confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling (CB-SEM) are used to analyze the data. The results show twenty manufacturing firms recognized the information-sharing function of mediation. We demonstrate that there is a partial mediating effect between information quality and supply chain performance satisfaction through information sharing. Accordingly, this study focuses on information sharing and information quality regarding supply chain performance. The main goal is to ensure that supply chain organizations communicate reliable information, which would boost overall performance due to imposing supply chain management principles that would enhance information quality and dependability.

The mediation effect of transaction cost attributes on the trust-supply chain performance relationships has remained largely under-explored. Particularly, little is known about the mediating role of information sharing, uncertainty and transaction frequency on the trust-supply chain performance relationships in the agri-food sector. Based on the transaction cost theory, this study used logistic regression to investigate the mediating role of transaction cost attributes on the trust-supply chain performance relationships. Data were collected from 396 agribusiness small and medium-sized enterprises, i.e., farmers (n = 203) and traders (n = 193) in Northern Uganda. Analysis was performed using logistic regression in SPSS version 23 and Amos version 23. The results show that, while trust positively influences supply chain performance, information sharing is the only transaction cost attribute that mediates the relationship between trust and supply chain performance. Agribusiness managers, therefore, need to not only renew the effort of sharing accurate and timely information regarding the market's demand for specific volumes and quality of agricultural products and market trends and storage facilities but also utilize the information to become competitive and improve supply chain performance.

The global functioning of supply chains has exposed them to volatility and turbulence making them vulnerable to disruptions. Resilience has become an important ability for supply chains that enhances event readiness and aids recovery to a better operational state. The restoration of supply chains ensures business continuity and improves performance against the firms whose supply chains are not resilient. The importance of resilience towards supply chain and firm's performance has resulted in several studies on its analysis. The literature is replete with studies analyzing antecedents of resilience and their effect on supply chain performance amidst disruptions. Despite the abundance of the empirical literature, only a few have examined the resilience antecedent configurations to assess supply chain performance. Even fewer studies have examined the necessity and sufficiency conditions of these configurations. Limited research evidence exists in the context of global supply chains having partners in India. The present study explores the antecedents of resilience influencing supply chain performance amidst disruptions. Furthermore, the study aims to obtain the necessary and sufficient configurations of these antecedents for enhancing supply chain performance and provide managerial suggestions. Therefore, the research questions are (1) What are the antecedents of resilience that may impact the supply chain performance amidst disruptions (2) What configurations of resilience antecedents can explain the supply chain performance? The research question are solved via following methods: Firstly, based on literature review and expert interviews, the antecedents of resilience are obtained for Indian supply chains. Furthermore, Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) is utilized to obtain necessary and sufficient configurations of the antecedents that can explain supply chain performance amidst disruptions. The output of fsQCA software reveals the presence of multiple, equally effective configurations of causal factors that exist for explaining the interplay of antecedents towards enhancing supply chain performance amidst disruptions. Purpose: To timely manage supply chain disruptions, experts have focused their attention on the impact of COVID-19 on industries worldwide. Epidemic outbursts are a specific supply chain risk with long disruption propagation, disruption persistence, and high uncertainty. This study aimed to investigate the role of R&D investment and firm performance in mediating the relationship between disruption risk and supply chain performance in Pakistani manufacturing industries and supply chain employees during the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic via the application of the dynamic capability theory.Methodology: From 21 July 2020 to 23 August 2020, 318 employees from supply chains of manufacturing industries in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan, participated in this cross-sectional online web-based survey. The four standard research scales were used to examine the research and development, disruption risk, firm, and supply chain performance. The response link was distributed to respondents via Facebook, WhatsApp, and email. The study analyzed the data using structural equation modeling and a partial least squares technique. Results: The study’s findings suggest that disruption risk, research and development investment, and firm performance all improve supply chain performance, but the mediation effect is unsupported by the data. These measures help plan a better supply chain in the face of disruption risk. They provide one of the timely empirical conclusions on the role of R&D investment in mitigating risk disruptions and improving supply chain performance.

It is essential to avoid opportunistic behaviors of food supply chain members to guarantee food safety and sustainable supply. This research adopted the perspective of supply chain membership governance to discuss the critical mechanisms of opportunistic behavior avoidance and performance improvement in the food supply chain. Two information-sharing mechanisms (information sharing with customers and information sharing with suppliers) were used as mediating variables to explore the mechanisms of how social control, information sharing, and opportunistic behavior worked on supply chain performance. Furthermore, an online questionnaire survey was conducted to collect 210 data samples from the food manufacturing industry in China, and the structural equation model method was applied to test the research hypotheses. According to the empirical research findings, social control can directly reduce opportunistic behaviors of supply chain members and reduce such behaviors indirectly via the mediating factor of information sharing; social control affects the supply chain performance via the mediating factors of information sharing and opportunistic behavior, instead of directly improving supply chain performance. Two information sharing mechanisms vary in their mechanism of influence. Information sharing with customers reduces opportunistic behaviors, but does not directly improve supply chain performance. Information sharing with suppliers enhances supply chain performance and reduces opportunistic behaviors. This research offers theoretical and practical suggestions for performance improvement and opportunistic behavior avoidance to promote food supply chain management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The performance-related problems facing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in South Africa are well known. Efforts to find lasting solutions are ongoing and include empirical research focusing on various business practices and models. Applying leadership practices and supply chain management to SMEs provides fertile ground for groundbreaking solutions. This study tested the relationship between transformational leadership, supply chain execution and supply chain performance in manufacturing SMEs in South Africa. The study uses structural equation modelling to examine this empirical connection using data collected from 411 professional employees drawn from SMEs in three South African provinces. The study found that idealised influence and intellectual stimulation exert a positive impact on supply chain execution. Supply chain execution is positively linked to four supply chain performance factors, namely agility, reliability, cost optimisation and responsiveness. Transdisciplinary contribution: The study connects transformational leadership, which is an organisational behaviour construct to supply chain management, the latter of which is an emerging business discipline. The study recognises that business strategy is implemented by people whose conduct and practices are pivotal to strategic success. In addition, the study has an entrepreneurship orientation as it addresses the challenges facing manufacturing SMEs in South Africa. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Pharmaceutical Supply Chain (PSC) plays a critical role in the healthcare sector. This study identifies, validates, and prioritises the factors that play a crucial role in PSC performance, adopting a threefold approach. In the first stage performance, indicators were identified through an extensive review of the literature. With the help of expert opinion, the identified factors were validated and then categorised based on technological—organisational—environmental (TOE) and supply chain (SC) theories to propose a framework. The Pakistani Pharmaceutical sector firms were selected to investigate the cause and effect relationship among the factors, their interdependencies, and impact on overall PSC performance. This investigation was supported by a novel integrated analytic model composed of best worst method (BWM), decision‐making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL), and analytical network process (ANP) methods. The results indicate that 'human resource skills, competencies, and involvement', 'process improvement and healthcare reform, and manufacturing', and 'distribution and inventory management' are the top three factors that have a high impact on the overall PSC performance. This study outcome help inform decision‐makers and managers in the healthcare sector in formulating strategies to improve their SC performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SUPPLY chains ,CUSTOMER satisfaction ,WORKING capital ,PROFIT margins ,QUALITY of service - Abstract
This study ascertains the pertinent measures and metrics of supply chain performance through an extensive literature review. A total of 53 international peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2012-2021 were retrieved from Scopus, Emerald insight, Elsevier and Springer databases for review. The articles reviewed were selected and categorised based on the approach, scope and contribution in assessing and ascertaining the measures and metrics of supply chain performance. Limited to the review of literature, this study provides a benchmark and approaches for ascertaining the level of supply chain performance from financial and non-financial perspectives. Throughout the review, the study found inventory turnover ratio, supply chain and logistics costs and cash flows reflected in terms of ROI, ROE, ROA, profit margin, working capital and assets as the prime financial measures of supply chain performance. Moreover, the study found customer satisfaction, delivery performance, quality services, enhanced relationships and competitive advantages as the key non-financial measures of supply chain performance. The study concludes and recommends the financial and non-financial measures as the appropriate approaches for ascertaining the level of supply chain performance. In order to appropriately ascertain the level of supply chain performance, performance measurement should be accounted for by all actors at each node of the supply chain, using the same approach, measures and metrics. Additionally, further studies are required to address the benefits and issues that impede supply chain performance and measurements across different sectors of the economy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The global supply chain has suffered an unprecedented impact Affected by multiple factors such as anti-globalization, rising trade protectionism and the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the technology-organization-environment framework and resource-based theory, this study attempts to explore and analyze what drives a firm's willingness to adopt artificial intelligence technology and how such willingess to adopt artificial intelligence technology may contribute to supply chain resilience and supply chain performance. Using survey data collected from 318 firms in China, we empirically test our arguments and hypotheses through the structural equation modeling approach. The results suggest that the relative advantages of enterprise artificial intelligence technology, supply chain collaboration, and environmental uncertainty are the three major factors affecting the adoption of artificial intelligence technology, which subsequently provide a positive impact on supply chain resilience and supply chain performance. This study expands the application field and scope of artificial intelligence technology, fills the relatively large gap in the research on the behavior of enterprise users adopting artificial intelligence technology in the supply chain field. This provides a useful reference for enterprises to adopt artificial intelligence technology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

COVID-19 pandemic , *SUPPLY chains , *PUBLIC hospitals , *TECHNOLOGICAL innovations , *HOSPITAL utilization - Abstract
In the study, the mediating role of supply chain innovation on the effect of innovative leadership on supply chain performance is investigated. Although there are many studies in the literature on the factors affecting supply chain innovation and supply chain performance, there are very few studies that include the innovative leadership effect. It is thought that the research subject, the model developed for the study, the applied sector (health services) and the findings would contribute to the literature. The reason for the selection of the health sector for the study is the fact that the Covid 19 pandemic has increased the importance of healthcare supply all over the world. In this context, the hypotheses of the study are tested with multiple regression analyzes with the data obtained from 418 public and private hospitals in Turkey by using a five-point Likert type questionnaire as the data collection method in the research. As a result of the analyzes made it is determined that innovative leadership and supply chain innovation have positive effects on supply chain performance. In the study, it is also seen that supply chain service and process innovation have a mediating role in the effect of innovative leadership on supply chain speed and environmental performance. - Abstract
In recent years, interruption or failure events have occurred due to frequent natural disasters, the outbreak of COVID-19, policy environment turbulence, an increasingly complex business environment, and the increasingly fragile global supply chain. This has reduced the efficiency of supply chains and customer service quality and increased operating costs, creating new requirements for supply chain flexibility and sustainability. When investigating 21 companies based on 200 questionnaires and a structural equation model analysis, the results showed that the elasticity of the supply chain for supply chain sustainability, economic sustainability, social sustainability, and environment sustainability has an obvious positive effect: supply chain sustainability has an obvious positive effect on supply chain performance. Supply chain resilience has no direct positive effect on supply chain performance, but it has a strong indirect effect on supply chain performance under the mediating effect of supply chain sustainability. In view of this, in order to create sustainable supply chain development and improve the performances of supply chains, it is necessary to establish the awareness of risk prevention, root the risk culture in supply chain network organization, and improve supply chain resilience in multiple dimensions. Enterprises in the supply chain should continue to build their resilience and establish effective strategies to integrate supply chains. The intermediary role of sustainability in supply chains and of supply chain flexibility in supply chain performance shows the influence of economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable angles, such as the implementation of supply chain management, the maximization of the interests of the whole supply chain, improving the ability of supply chain enterprises to innovate and develop, establishing customer awareness, and enhancing humanistic ideas. Dynamic selection of supply chain partners while focusing on their green performance promotes the green development of supply chain enterprises. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
