E7050 is an inhibitor of VEGFR2 with anti-tumor activity; however, its therapeutic mechanism remains incompletely understood. In the present study, we aim to evaluate the anti-angiogenic activity of E7050 in vitro and in vivo and define the underlying molecular mechanism. It was observed that treatment with E7050 markedly inhibited proliferation, migration, and capillary-like tube formation in cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). E7050 exposure in the chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) also reduced the amount of neovessel formation in chick embryos. To understand the molecular basis, E7050 was found to suppress the phosphorylation of VEGFR2 and its downstream signaling pathway components, including PLCγ1, FAK, Src, Akt, JNK, and p38 MAPK in VEGF-stimulated HUVECs. Moreover, E7050 suppressed the phosphorylation of VEGFR2, FAK, Src, Akt, JNK, and p38 MAPK in HUVECs exposed to MES-SA/Dx5 cells-derived conditioned medium (CM). The multidrug-resistant human uterine sarcoma xenograft study revealed that E7050 significantly attenuated the growth of MES-SA/Dx5 tumor xenografts, which was associated with inhibition of tumor angiogenesis. E7050 treatment also decreased the expression of CD31 and p-VEGFR2 in MES-SA/Dx5 tumor tissue sections in comparison with the vehicle control. Collectively, E7050 may serve as a potential agent for the treatment of cancer and angiogenesis-related disorders.

Constructing highly efficient and cost-effective photocatalyst system has been a big challenge for photocatalysis. Herein, CdS nanosphere (N-CdS), hollow CdS (H-CdS) and a series of H-CdS@NiCoP core-shell nanospheres have been successfully prepared via a facile hydrothermal method. The activity test showed that H-CdS exhibited higher photocatalytic activity (3.34 mmol g-1 h-1) compared with N-CdS (0.99 mmol g-1 h-1) under visible light irradiation (λ ≥ 420 nm), suggesting that hollow structure could effectively improve photocatalytic activity. Moreover, the H-CdS@NiCoP-7 wt% displayed a maximum photocatalytic H2 evolution rate of 13.47 mmol g-1 h-1, which was about 4 times and 2.5 times higher than that of pristine H-CdS and H-CdS@Pt-3 wt%, respectively. Furthermore, H-CdS@NiCoP-7 wt% exhibited a good stability during 20 h test. The physicochemical properties were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, UV-vis DRS, PL and photoelectrochemical technique. The results showed that NiCoP addition can construct p-n junction with H-CdS and effectively promote the charge transfer from CdS to NiCoP, which improved the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activity. This work revealed that NiCoP could react as an excellent co-catalyst for enhancing H-CdS photocatalytic activity.

The Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) has been collecting elevation measurements of the Earth’s surface since its launch in September 2018. Although ICESat-2 was not designed for urban applications, its excellent altimetry capabilities over the globe make it possible to obtain urban height information. However, few studies have been conducted to validate ICESat-2 height measurements in urban areas. In this letter, we evaluate the heights retrieved from 20 months of ATL03 and ATL08 data using airborne LiDAR data collected in New York City. The results indicated that the heights from ATL03 product have a moderate agreement with airborne LiDAR data with vertical errors around -1.49 m (RMSE = 2.89 m, MAE = 2.11 m, R2 = 0.98, observations = 910,497). The ATL08 product also performed a fine accuracy in terrain heights estimating (ME = -0.01 m, RMSE = 3.63 m, MAE = 2.04 m, R2 = 0.94). In the three categories of urban environments, ATL03 performs best in Urban High-rise Dense Area, with an average residual error of -1.44 m, followed by Urban Non-high-rise Dense Area with an average residual error of -1.49 m. In Urban Forest Area, ATL08 shows its performance in measuring terrain height with an RMSE of 1.78 m. We demonstrated that ICESat-2 can provide a useful source of urban heights and holds great potential to light up more urban applications related to urban change monitoring and three-dimensional morphology.
