Objective.To evaluate the ultrasound multiparametric assessment of the impact of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) on fetal cardiac function and growth and development. Methods. In this prospective study, 98 cases of HDP treated in our institution were recruited into a study group, and 100 pregnant women with healthy singleton pregnancies were included in a control group. All eligible patients were also assigned to either study group A (HDP fetuses with growth restriction) or study group B (HDP fetuses with normal growth). Fetal echocardiography was performed on all eligible participants to obtain hemodynamic and cardiac function parameters for the evaluation of fetal growth and development, and the impact of HDP on fetal heart function and growth and development was analyzed. Results. HDP fetuses were associated with smaller head circumference, biparietal diameter, femoral length, and abdominal circumference versus healthy fetuses. The study group had a higher resistance index (RI) and pulsatility index (PI) of umbilical artery (UA), ductus venous (DV), pulmonary vein (PV), and lower RI and PI of aortic isthmus (AoI) than the control group. The study group showed higher left and right ventricular isovolumic contraction time (IVCT), isovolumic relaxation time (IVRT), and myocardial performance index (MPI) values and lower mitral and tricuspid E wave and E/A values than the control group. The systolic blood pressure was positively correlated with PI, RI of UA, DV, and PV, and left and right ventricular IVCT, IVRT, and MPI and negatively correlated with PI and RI of AoI and mitral and tricuspid E wave and E/A values of HDP fetuses. The peak systolic/diastolic flow rate (S/D), PI, and RI of umbilical blood flow in study group A were higher than those in study group B. Umbilical blood flow S/D showed the highest AUC and specificity for predicting fetal growth restriction, and PI had the highest sensitivity for predicting fetal growth restriction. Conclusion. HDP compromises fetal cardiac function and growth, and ultrasound multiparametric assessment provides accurate detection of fetal cardiac function and hemodynamics changes. The patient’s condition can be monitored through the assessment of ultrasound parameters of fetal growth and development.

In information security systems, the algorithm of the Blum-Blum-Shub (BBS) generator, which is based on the use of a one-way function and is a cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator, became widespread. In this paper, the problem of the analysis of modified algorithms of the BBS generator operation is considered to improve their statistical characteristics, namely, the sequence repetition period. It has been established that in order to improve the characteristics of the classic BBS algorithm, it is necessary to systematize approaches to change the recurrent equation itself, the relationship between the current and the previous members of the sequence. For this purpose, a generalized unified model of the modification of the classical BBS algorithm is derived. The repetition period with computational complexity were analyzed for classical algorithm and 80 proposed modifications. A gain in statistical characteristics is improved with slight increase in the required computing power of the system. The proposed modified BBS pseudorandom sequence generator can be used in training of students when teaching cryptographic stability of information security systems. The study of this generator combines the knowledge of students acquired in both digital electronics and mathematics.

Aim: This study aimed to determine the association between polymorphisms of the ARG1 gene and the risk and traits of cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM). Methods: A total of 468 CCM and 1012 cirrhosis patients were enrolled, and 12 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the ARG1 gene were genotyped. Differences in genotype, allele and haplotype frequencies of the SNPs between the CCM and cirrhosis groups were analyzed by chi-square test. Correlations of the genotypes of SNPs and representative traits of liver and heart function were performed using linear regression analysis. Results: SNPs rs2781666 and rs2781667 were associated with the risk of CCM in both dominant and additive inheritance models. The GG genotype frequency of rs2781666 and CC genotype frequency of rs2781667 were lower in the CCM group than in the cirrhosis group. The G-C haplotype frequency of the block consisting of rs2781666 and rs2781667 was higher and the T-T haplotype frequency was lower in CCM patients than in cirrhosis patients. SNP rs2781666 was associated with the alanine transaminase level, and rs2781667 was associated with the ARG1 level and left atrial diameter. Conclusion: SNPs rs2781666 and rs2781667 in the ARG1 gene were associated with susceptibility to and traits of CCM in the Han Chinese population.

Ischemic stroke (IS) is a major cause of permanent morbidity and lifelong disability worldwide. Circular RNA (circRNA) circ_0007865 has been reported to be upregulated in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. Also, AIS patients exhibited increased death of human brain microvascular endothelial cells (HBMECs). This study is designed to explore the role and mechanism of circ_0007865 in the oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD)-induced cell damage in AIS.Circ_0007865, microRNA-214-3p (miR-214-3p), and FK506-binding protein 5 (FKBP5) levels were detected by real-time quantitative PCR. Cell proliferative angiogenesis, migration, and apoptosis were assessed by Cell Counting Kit-8, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine, colony formation, tube formation, wound healing, transwell, and flow cytometry assays. B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2), Bcl-2-related X protein (Bax), cleaved caspase-3, and FKBP5 protein levels were determined by western blot assay. The binding relationship between miR-214-3p and circ_0007865 or FKBP5 was predicted by StarBase, and verified by a dual-luciferase reporter, RNA pull-down assay.Circ_0007865 and FKBP5 were increased, and miR-214-3p was decreased in OGD-treated HBMECs. Furthermore, the silencing of circ_0007865 could promote cell proliferative angiogenesis, migration, and inhibit apoptosis in OGD-triggered HBMECs in vitro. Mechanically, circ_0007865 acted as a sponge of miR-214-3p to regulate FKBP5.According to these results, circ_0007865 deficiency could attenuate OGD-induced HBMEC damage by modulating the miR-214-3p/FKBP5 axis, hinting at a promising therapeutic target for future acute IS therapy.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between compression effect exerted by the sling on the urethra using translabial ultrasound and the prognosis of sling surgery in women for stress urinary incontinence (SUI).We retrospectively reviewed 151 women with SUI who had undergone either a TVT-Abbrevo (n = 81) or TVT-O (n = 70) procedure. Preoperative and 12-month postoperative assessments including sonographic data, urinary symptoms and signs were compared. Objective and subjective success rates were assessed at 12 months postoperatively.Overall, 140 patients (92.7%) were objectively cured and 138 patients (91.4%) were subjectively cured of SUI 12 months after the operation with no significant differences between groups (p0.05). After both the TVT-Abbrevo and TVT-O procedures, the shortest distance between the tape and the urethral cavity line (TU) on straining (objective cure 4.1 mm vs. 4.5 mm, subjective cure 4.1 mm vs. 4.4 mm), the changes of the angle (∆) between the two arms of the sling (objective cure 15.8° vs. 20.8°, subjective cure 16.5° vs. 21.3°) and the gap between the sling and symphysis pubis (objective cure 9.9 mm vs. 12.1 mm, subjective cure 9.8 mm vs. 12.4 mm) were significantly smaller in the success group (p 0.05). Analysis of ultrasound measurements in women reporting success and those reporting failure of the procedure showed the ∆TU (objective cure 1.6 mm vs. 0.9 mm, subjective cure 1.6 mm vs. 1.0 mm) and the angle on straining (objective cure 93.4° vs. 89.2°, subjective cure 94.3° vs. 88.9°) to be significantly bigger (p 0.05). However, none of the assessed sonographic variables showed any significant differences between the TVT-Abbrevo and TVT-O groups.The change in distance between the tape and urethral cavity line in the center of the urethra in the mid-sagittal plane after straining is an effective indicator of the compression effect exerted by the sling on the urethra after a mid-urethral sling (MUS) procedure and may contribute to both objective and subjective cure rates postoperatively.

An ultrasensitive luteolin electrochemical sensor was constructed by co-electropolymerization of nitrogen-doped graphene (N-GR) and hydroxymethylated-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT-MeOH) using cyclic voltammetry (CV). Because of the synergistic effects of the large surface area, superior electrical conductivity, and large amount of chemically active sites of N-GR together with the satisfactory water solubility and high conductivity of poly(hydroxymethylated-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT-MeOH), the N-GR-PEDOT-MeOH nanocomposite sensor exhibited high electrochemical sensitivity towards luteolin with a wide linear range of 0.005-10.06 μM and low detection limit of 0.05 nM. Satisfactory reproducibility, selectivity, and stability were exhibited by this electrochemical sensor. The version 10 (v10) Atmospheric Carbon Observations from Space (ACOS) Level 2 Full Physics (L2FP) retrieval algorithm has been applied to multi-year records of observations from NASA's Orbiting Carbon Observatory -2 and -3 sensors (OCO-2 and OCO-3, respectively) to provide estimates of the carbon dioxide (CO2) column-averaged dry-air mole fraction (XCO2). In this study, a number of improvements to the ACOS v10 L2FP algorithm are described. The post-processing quality filtering and bias correction of the XCO2 estimates against multiple truth proxies are also discussed. The OCO v10 data volumes and XCO2 estimates from the two sensors for the time period August 2019 through February 2022 are compared, highlighting differences in spatiotemporal sampling, but demonstrating broad agreement between the two sensors where they overlap in time and space. A number of evaluation sources applied to both sensors suggest they are broadly similar in data and error characteristics. Mean OCO-3 differences relative to collocated OCO-2 data are approximately 0.2 ppm and −0.3 ppm for land and ocean observations, respectively. Comparison of XCO2 estimates to collocated Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON) measurements show root mean squared errors (RMSE) of approximately 0.8 ppm and 0.9 ppm for OCO-2 and OCO-3, respectively. An evaluation against XCO2 fields derived from atmospheric inversion systems that assimilated only near-surface CO2 observations, i.e., did not assimilate satellite CO2 measurements, yielded RMSEs of 1.0 ppm and 1.1 ppm for OCO-2 and OCO-3, respectively. Evaluation of errors in small areas, as well as biases across land-ocean crossings, also show encouraging results, for each sensor and in their agreement. Taken together, our results demonstrate a broad consistency of OCO-2 and OCO-3 XCO2 measurements, suggesting they may be used together for scientific analyses.

Evapotranspiration (ET) is a key variable in terrestrial water, energy and carbon cycles. ET products have proliferated. This study evaluates ten monthly, globally available products, including one product from the upscaling of in situ observations (FLUXCOM), one ensemble product (SynthesisET), four remote sensing-based products (SSEBop, MOD16, Numerical Terradynamic Simulation Group (NTSG) and PT-JPLSM) and four products from land surface models (Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS), FLDAS, TerraClimate and Global Land Evaporation Amsterdam Model (GLEAM)). The assessments are conducted during the period of 2003–2013 using FLUXNET2015 eddy covariance datasets at the site scale, which are grouped by land cover, elevation and climate, and GRACE-based water balance ET at basin scales. The results indicate that all products show comparable performance and that no single product shows the best performance. FLUXCOM and GLDAS have outstanding performances at both the site and basin scales, respectively. SynthesisET tends to have suboptimal performance at both validation scales, while FLDAS, SSEBop and TerraClimate show relatively poor results. Other products reproduced ET moderately well. The metrics of the two validation methods are compared. The results indicated that the performance of products at the basin scale is usually better than that at the site scale. The anomalies in specific regions and the trends among ET products are observed at both scales. In addition, the special relationship between the products and the validation methods will affect the credibility of their assessment results. This study contributes to the assessment of the performance of products to identify proper candidates for hydrological analysis and improve the ET algorithm.

Lapatinib (LAP) is an important anti-cancer drug and is frequently alongside doxorubicin (DOX) as a combination therapy for better anti-cancer efficacy. However, many studies have reported that LAP in combination with DOX may induce highly cardiotoxicity. Accordingly, we aimed to explore the potential mechanism involved in the synergistic effect of LAP in DOX-induced cardiotoxicity. Here, cell counting kit-8 was used to detect cell viability and lactate dehydrogenase measurement was performed to assess cell injury. Cell apoptosis was evaluated by TUNEL assay and western blot assay. Mitochondrial dysfunction was identified by JC-1 assay, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and Cytochrome C. Moreover, the activity of ROS, SOD, CAT and GSH were measured to elucidate oxidative stress level. Ferroptosis was examined by levels of Fe2+, GPX4 and ASCL4. Expressions of PI3K/AKT signaling were identified by western blot assay. The results revealed that LAP inhibited the cell viability and exacerbated cell injury induced by Dox, as well as increased cell apoptosis. LAP aggravated DOX-induced mitochondria damage by changed mitochondrial membrane potential, decreased ATP and increased level of Cytochrome C. In addition, the combination of LAP and DOX induced oxidative stress and ferroptosis in H9c2 cells. The activation of PI3K/AKT signaling reversed the detrimental effects of LAP on DOX-induced H9c2 cells. The data in this study showed for the first time that LAP aggravated Dox-induced cardiotoxicity by promoting oxidative stress and ferroptosis in cardiomyocytes via PI3K/AKT-mediated mitochondrial dysfunction, suggesting that PI3K/AKT activation is a promising cardioprotective strategy for DOX /LAX combination therapies.

OBJECTIVE Diabetic macular edema (DME) is one of the most frequent causes of severe vision loss. The pathogenesis of DME is still not fully understood; however, it is hypothesized to result from breakdown of the blood-retinal barrier (BRB) due to retinal inflammation by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) secretion under hyperglycemic conditions. In this investigation, we discovered that Prolyl-4-hydroxylase 2 (PHD2), an upstream regulator of hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) modulates VEGF expression and thus preserves BRB function in the mouse retina. MATERIALS AND METHODS Primary human retinal microvascular endothelial cells (hRMECs) were cultured in human endothelial serum-free growth medium and exposed to hyperglycemia. Changes in cell viability were investigated by an MTT assay. BRB function in each group was revealed by a paracellular permeability assay and trans-endothelial electrical resistance (TEER). Morphological changes in the BRB were investigated by immunofluorescence staining of occludin and zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1). The mRNA and protein levels of the tight junction proteins, PHD2, HIF-1α, and VEGF were measured by reverse transcription-quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR), western blot analysis and ELISA. RESULTS Under hyperglycemic conditions, the viability of hRMECs was decreased, and PHD2 expression was downregulated, accompanied by increased paracellular permeability and decreased trans-endothelial electrical resistance. Additionally, HIF-1α and VEGF expression levels were increased, whereas the expression levels of tight junction proteins, including occludin and ZO-1, were decreased and BRB function was compromised. The PHD2 activator R59949 (diacylglycerol kinase inhibitor II), altered these pathological changes, and the PHD2 inhibitor dimethyloxalylglycine (DMOG) resulted in the opposite effects. CONCLUSION These results demonstrated that PHD2 inhibited HIF-1 activity by inhibiting HIF-1α expression in hRMECs under hyperglycemic conditions, which led to the downregulation of the expression of the angiogenic factor VEGF, and thus helped to maintain the functions of hRMECs. Therefore, it is reasonable to propose that PHD2 could be a potential novel target for the treatment of DME or other diseases with a similar pathogenesis.

The inflammasome-mediated cleavage of gasdermin D (GSDMD) causes pyroptosis and inflammatory cytokine release to control pathogen infection, but how pathogens evade this immune response remains largely unexplored. Here we identify the known protein phosphatase PtpB from Mycobacterium tuberculosis as a phospholipid phosphatase inhibiting the host inflammasome-pyroptosis pathway. Mechanistically, PtpB dephosphorylated phosphatidylinositol-4-monophosphate and phosphatidylinositol-(4,5)-bisphosphate in host cell membrane, thus disrupting the membrane localization of the cleaved GSDMD to inhibit cytokine release and pyroptosis of macrophages. Notably, this phosphatase activity requires PtpB binding to ubiquitin. Disrupting phospholipid phosphatase activity or the ubiquitin-interacting motif of PtpB enhanced host GSDMD-dependent immune responses and reduced intracellular pathogen survival. Thus, pathogens inhibit pyroptosis and counteract host immunity by altering host membrane composition.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is a common gynecologic cancer with high incidence and mortality. We attempted to investigate the role of circular RNA_0000471 (Circ_0000471) in OC progression and its associated mechanism.Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and western blot assay were conducted to measure RNA and protein expression, respectively. Cell proliferation was analyzed by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK8) assay, colony formation assay, and 5-Ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) assay. Cell apoptosis was assessed by flow cytometry. Cell migration and invasion were analyzed by wound healing assay and transwell assay, respectively. Dual-luciferase reporter assay and RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) assay were conducted to verify the target relationships. Xenograft tumor model was established to assess the role of Circ_0000471 on tumor growth in vivo.Circ_0000471 expression was down-regulated in OC tissues and cell lines. Circ_0000471 overexpression blocked the proliferation, migration, and invasion and triggered the apoptosis of OC cells. Circ_0000471 served as a molecular sponge for microRNA-135b-5p (miR-135b-5p), and Circ_0000471 overexpression-mediated anti-tumor influences in OC cells were largely reversed by the overexpression of miR-135b-5p. Dual specificity phosphatase 5 (DUSP5) was a target of miR-135b-5p, and miR-135b-5p silencing-induced anti-tumor effects were largely counteracted by the interference of DUSP5. Circ_0000471 increased DUSP5 expression by sponging miR-135b-5p in OC cells. Circ_0000471 overexpression restrained the growth of xenograft tumors in vivo.Overexpression of Circ_0000471 inhibited OC development by targeting miR-135b-5p/DUSP5 axis, indicating that Circ_0000471 may be a new potential target for OC treatment.

1q gain (+1q) is the most common high-risk cytogenetic abnormality (HRCA) in patients with multiple myeloma (MM). However, its prognostic value remains unclear in the era of novel agents. Here, we retrospectively analyzed the impact of +1q on the outcomes of 934 patients newly diagnosed with MM. +1q was identified in 53.1% of patients and verified as an independent variate for inferior overall survival (OS) (hazard ratio, 1.400; 95% confidence interval, 1.097-1.787; p = .007). Concurrence of other HRCAs (particularly t(14;16) and del(17p)) further exacerbated the outcomes of patients with +1q, suggesting prognostic heterogeneity. Thus, a risk-scoring algorithm based on four risk variates (t(14;16), hypercalcemia, ISS III, and high LDH) was developed to estimate the outcomes of patients with +1q. Of the patients, 376 evaluable patients with +1q were re-stratified into low (31.6%), intermediate (61.7%), and high risk (6.7%) groups, with significantly different progression-free survival and OS (p .0001), in association with early relapse of the disease. The prognostic value of this model was validated in the CoMMpass cohort. While attaining undetectable MRD largely circumvented the adverse impact of +1q, it scarcely ameliorated the outcome of the patients with high risk, who likely represent a subset of patients with extremely poor survival. Hence, patients with +1q are a heterogeneous group of high-risk patients, therefore underlining the necessity for their re-stratification. The proposed simple risk-scoring model can estimate the outcomes of patients with +1q, which may help guide risk-adapted treatment for such patients.

Postoperative neurocognitive disorders are common neurological complications following surgery that are generally characterized by varying degrees of cognitive impairment. Postoperative neurocognitive disorders can exhibit as short-term postoperative delirium and/or long-term postoperative cognitive dysfunction. In addition, postoperative neurocognitive disorders may result in poor outcomes in patients, and are a leading cause of postoperative morbidity and mortality, particularly in elderly patients. Recently, there has been a heightened interest in mechanisms and clinical treatments for postoperative neurocognitive disorders. Though some influencing factors and mechanisms of postoperative neurocognitive disorders have been revealed, they remain troublesome problems in clinical departments. Dexmedetomidine is a commonly used anesthetic adjuvant that may help improve postoperative cognitive impairment, especially the conditions of a postoperative acute event (postoperative delirium, within 1 week after operation) and delayed neurocognitive recovery (postoperative cognitive dysfunction, up to 30 days). In the recent literature, dexmedetomidine has been shown to exert positive effects on cognitive impairment in clinical and animal studies, especially for postoperative neurocognitive disorders. However, not all clinical findings support this efficacy. Though some mechanisms of dexmedetomidine on postoperative neurocognitive disorders have been proposed, such as signaling pathways associated with inflammation and apoptosis, this evidence is fragmentary and disputed in the literature. Therefore, this article aims to review the potential biological mechanisms underlying dexmedetomidine's effects on postoperative neurocognitive disorders, providing a reference for future studies.

A better understanding of how advancement in science and technology affect students’ learning behavior in academic setting can help all educators in higher education. With the advancement of science and technology, the new-generation information technology represented by "Cloud Computing, Big Data, Internet of Things, Mobile Network and Artificial Intelligence" has been profoundly changing the form of education, accelerating the transformation from Teaching 1.0 to Learning 2.0. To investigate the factors influencing university students using new generation of information technology in intelligent foreign language learning, this study proposed a research model based on Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The sample data were collected from a survey of 237 students at a university. The analysis of structural equation modeling indicated that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, construction of foreign language intelligence classroom, and computer self-efficacy all have a positive impact on learners’ behavioral intention. These findings suggest that more emphasis should be laid on students’ learning characteristics, advantages of new generation of technology, as well as teachers’ intelligent literacy, so as to further promote the deep integration of the new-generation information technology and intelligent foreign language learning, improving the learning effectiveness ultimately and effectively.

To study the posterior segment complications (PSC) and the risk factors in patients after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).This cross-sectional, case-control study enroled 143 patients who received allogeneic HSCT. Comprehensive ocular examinations were performed to evaluate PSC and ocular Graft-versus-Host Disease (oGVHD). PSC was diagnosed based on the characteristic fundus findings and auxiliary examinations. Visual-evoked potential was examined in patients with unexplained visual loss and suspected visual pathway pathology (VPP). Ocular surface disease index, corneal fluorescein staining, conjunctival injection and Schirmer's test were scored to diagnose oGVHD.PSC was detected in 36 (25.2%) patients, while 107 (74.8%) patients were not. Among them, 102 (71.3%) patients were diagnosed with oGVHD. The most common PSC included cytomegalovirus retinitis (13/143, 9.1%) and VPP (7/143, 4.9%). Central nervous system relapse of leukaemia was detected in four out of seven cases of VPP. Patients with PSC had worse visual acuity, lower prevalence and milder severity of oGVHD, and more donors from unrelated and human leucocyte antigen (HLA)-mismatch (all P 0.05). PSC was associated with transplant from unrelated (OR = 6.494, 95% CI: 1.635-25.794, P = 0.008) and HLA-mismatched (OR = 7.193, 95% CI: 2.829-18.291, P 0.001) donor but not with the occurrence of systemic GVHD or oGVHD.PSC in post-HSCT patients was more common than previously noted, deserving the concern of ophthalmologists, especially in patients with unrelated or HLA-mismatched donors.

Programmable chiral biocatalysis represents a promising therapeutic strategy for its high stereospecific control over various biotransformations (e.g., chiral Aβ isomerization) of living entities yet is rarely explored. With an extraordinary resistance to nuclease digestion, the non-natural left-handed deoxyribozyme (l-DNAzyme) therapy is constrained by inefficient delivery/release and insufficient cofactors supply. Herein, an efficient adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-stimulated disassembly of l-histidine (l-His)-integrated ZIF-8 (l-His-ZIF-8) is reported for sustaining the l-DNAzyme-amplified photodynamic therapy. This self-sufficient l-therapeutic platform can intelligently release the l-DNAzyme probe and simultaneously supply l-His DNAzyme cofactors via endogenous ATP. Then, the intrinsic microRNA-21 catalyzes the generation of robust l-DNAzyme via the catalytic hybridization reaction for activating the photosensitizer with multiplied guaranteed therapeutic operation. This l-therapeutic strategy opens up great prospects for more precise diagnosis and customized gene silencing-based therapy.

The aim of this review is to describe the use of COVID-19 mathematical models, their classification, and the advantages and disadvantages of different types of models. We conducted subject heading searches of PubMed and China National Knowledge Infrastructure with the terms "COVID-19," "Mathematical Statistical Model," "Model," "Modeling," "Agent-based Model," and "Ordinary Differential Equation Model" and classified and analyzed the scientific literature retrieved in the search. We categorized the models as data-driven or mechanism-driven. Data-driven models are mainly used for predicting epidemics, and have the advantage of rapid assessment of disease instances. However, their ability to determine transmission mechanisms is limited. Mechanism-driven models include ordinary differential equation (ODE) and agent-based models. ODE models are used to estimate transmissibility and evaluate impact of interventions. Although ODE models are good at determining pathogen transmission characteristics, they are less suitable for simulation of early epidemic stages and rely heavily on availability of first-hand field data. Agent-based models consider influences of individual differences, but they require large amounts of data and can take a long time to develop fully. Many COVID-19 mathematical modeling studies have been conducted, and these have been used for predicting trends, evaluating interventions, and calculating pathogen transmissibility. Successful infectious disease modeling requires comprehensive considerations of data, applications, and purposes.

In view of globalization, the internationalization of basic education has become a world trend. It is an important strategic tool for each country to actively deal with the challenges of globalization, and it is also the main way to improve the quality of education around the world. The development of the internationalization of basic education requires the active participation of all countries around the world, in which it will have an impact and influence on the educational development, educational concept, and teaching management of all countries. However, only by conforming to the historical and inevitable trend of the internationalization of education, understanding the actual situation of the country’s economic development, social development, and educational context, studying and implementing development strategies, as well as integrating healthy internationalization into the educational practice, then the internationalization of education can develop further so as to promote the rapid development of the whole world’s education cause.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a heterogeneous disease characterized by high mortality and poor prognosis. Ferroptosis, a newly discovered iron-dependent type of cell death, has been found to play a crucial role in the development of cancers. However, little is known about the prognostic value of ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) in LUAD. Methods: In the present study, RNA-seq transcriptome data of LUAD patients were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Cox regression analysis was used to construct a multigene signature. Kaplan–Meier survival and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were utilized to assess the prognostic prediction efficiency of the constructed survival model. LUAD patients from the {"type":"entrez-geo","attrs":{"text":"GSE30219","term_id":"30219"}}GSE30219 dataset were used for validation. Results: We found 46 differentially expressed FRGs between LUAD and adjacent normal tissues. Via univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses, 5 differentially expressed FRGs were identified as being highly correlated with LUAD. Patients were divided into low- and high-risk groups according to the risk score. We found that the overall survival (OS) of patients in the high-risk group was significantly worse than that of their low-risk counterparts. (P < 0.0001 in the TCGA dataset and P = 0.044 in the {"type":"entrez-geo","attrs":{"text":"GSE30219","term_id":"30219"}}GSE30219 cohort). In addition, gene set variation analysis (GSVA) of the tumor microenvironment of the two groups may explain the different survival of LUAD patients. Conclusions: Our study identified a novel FRG signature that could be used to evaluate and predict the prognosis of LUAD patients, which might provide a new therapeutic target for the treatment of LUAD patients.

Point of interest (POI) recommendation can help people explore new regions. Existing methods tend to exploit different information to improve recommendation performance. However, there are still challenges in how to integrate different information flexibly and effectively. Therefore, we propose a multi-task embedding based personalized POI recommendation method (MTEPR). On one hand, multi-information (sequential, social, temporal, geographical, semantic, gender, and preference information) are exploited to embed users and POIs. On the other hand, MTEPR incorporates sequence and graph embedding methods to model user location history, as well as to preserve the relationships between users, POIs, and different information. Specifically, sequential information is captured by applying a sequence embedding method on users’ check-in sequences, and other information are captured by applying graph embedding methods on User–User, User-Time Slot, POI-Time Slot, POI-Region Hierarchy, POI-Category Hierarchy, User-Gender, and User-POI graphs. The scores of candidate POIs are calculated based on the embeddings to make recommendations. We conduct extensive experiments to evaluate the performance of MTEPR on two real-world datasets, and the results show its superiority over baselines. We also study the impact of different information, and the results reveal that temporal and semantic information contribute most to improving recommendation performance.
