The half life of the 7− isomeric state of the odd-odd 68Ga nucleus was measured using a particle-γ delayed coincidence technique. The 68Ga nuclei were produced using the fusion-evaporation reaction 55Mn(16O,2pn)68Ga at 55 MeV incident beam energy. The beam was produced by the 8 MV Pelletron accelerator of the Nuclear Physics Open Laboratory of the University of São Paulo. The half life was measured using the Isomeric State Measurement System (SISMEI). The obtained value was 60.83(25) ns, compatible with previous measurements. The 68Ga excited states were well described with the Large Scale Shell Model using the JUN45 residual interaction.

Background: Reactions involving exotic and stable weakly bound nuclei have been extensively studied in recent years. Although several models have been successfully used to explain particular reaction outcomes, the answers to many questions remain elusive. In previous works, we presented elastic, inelastic, and transfer angular distributions for the $^{10}\mathrm{B}+^{120}\mathrm{Sn}$ system measured at ${E}_{\mathrm{Lab}}=31.5$, 33.0, 35.0, and 37.5 MeV. The data set was analyzed through coupled reaction channels calculations in the context of the double-folding S\~ao Paulo potential.Purpose: We investigate nuclear reaction mechanisms for systems involving weakly bound projectiles.Method: Angular distributions for several nuclear reaction processes were measured for the $^{10}\mathrm{B}+^{120}\mathrm{Sn}$ system at ${E}_{\mathrm{Lab}}=39.70$ MeV.Results: The new data set involves angular distributions for elastic scattering, projectile and target inelastic excitations, one-neutron pickup transfer, one-proton stripping transfer, deuteron pickup transfer, and $^{3,4}\mathrm{He}$ stripping transfer. We have also observed $^{10}\mathrm{Be}$ nuclei. The effect of the couplings to some nonelastic states on the angular distributions is discussed.Conclusion: The theoretical calculations within the coupled reaction channels formalism provide an overall good agreement with the corresponding inelastic, one-neutron stripping, one-proton pickup, one-deuteron pickup, and $^{3}\mathrm{He}$ stripping transfer data. However, to improve the description of the elastic scattering angular distribution, the inclusion of additional channels in the coupling scheme might be necessary.

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may predispose patients to venous thromboembolism (VTE) due to inflammation, hypoxia, immobilization, and diffuse intravascular coagulation, despite standard thrombopropylaxis. Our retrospective study reports the incidence of pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients with COVID-19 and severe respiratory failure(SRF) treated with intermediate to full-dose enoxaparin. .Methods: This retrospective case series analysed data from patients with COVID-19 pneumonia and severe respiratory failure (SRF) admitted to our Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) between February 27 and April 20, 2020 for non-invasive positive-pressure ventilation. All patients received at least intermediate-dose enoxaparin (40 mg twice daily). If PE was suspected or diagnosed, patients were treated with full-dose enoxaparin (1 mg/kg twice daily). Computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) was used to detect PE in patients with elevated D-dimer levels (> 3000 ng/mL) and/or other clinical indicators, including sudden worsening of cardiopulmonary status.Results: Ninety-two patients (71 males, 21 females; mean age 58 ± 11 years) with COVID-19 pneumonia and SRF (mean arterial oxygen partial pressure/fractional inspired oxygen [PaO2/FiO2] of 143 ± 45 mm Hg) were admitted to our RICU. Twenty-two patients underwent CTPA (24%), with PEs detected in 11 (12%). Mean PaO2/FiO2 and mean D-dimer levels did not significantly differ between patients with or without PE. Eleven patients (12%) died in the hospital, with a mean age of 70 ± 11 years for deceased patients and 56 ± 11 years for surviving patients (p < 0.0001).Conclusions: PE was diagnosed in 12% of patients despite intermediate to full-dose enoxaparin treatment. However the incidence of PE in our patients was lower than that previously reported. We hypothesize that this reduced PE incidence may have been secondary to the higher than prophylactic enoxaparin dose that was used.

O patrimônio cultural é constituído por objetos físicos e dimensões simbólicas de um determinado espaço. A cidade é fruto de seu patrimônio cultural, e sua sociedade é fruto de sua memória. Este trabalho trata-se se um estudo interdisciplinar sob a perspectiva da psicologia ambiental e da arquitetura e urbanismo sobre o ambiente urbano, realizada na Praça Nereu Ramos situada em Criciúma/SC. Tendo como base a pesquisa desenvolvida no âmbito da dissertação de mestrado em Ciências Ambientais da primeira autora, o artigo pretende realizar uma reflexão sobre a Praça Nereu Ramos como elemento histórico ao processo de urbanização da cidade, bem como analisar a importância da preservação dos patrimônios culturais para compreensão da memória e identidade da sua população. Utiliza como metodologia a abordagem de pesquisa qualitativa, cujo método utilizado foi estudo de caso e a técnica de coleta de dados foi composta pelo inventário fotográfico, observações e entrevistas semiestruturadas realizadas ao longo da Praça. As análises dos dados foram realizadas por meio de análise de conteúdo e ou análise por conceitos chave.

This work describes the new facility for applied nuclear physics at the University of Sao Paulo, mainly for irradiation of electronic devices. It is a setup composed of a quadrupole doublet for beam focusing/defocusing plus multiple scattering through gold foils to produce low intensity, large-area, and high-uniformity heavy-ion beams from 1H to 107Ag. Beam intensities can be easily adjusted from 102 particles cm2/s to hundreds of nA for an area as large as 2.0 cm2 and uniformity better than 90%. Its irradiation chamber has a high-precision motorized stage, and the system is controlled by a LabViewTM environment, allowing measurement automation. Design considerations and examples of use are presented Este trabalho descreve as novas instalações de física nuclear aplicada da Universidade de São Paulo, principalmente para irradiação de dispositivos eletrônicos. É uma configuração composta por um quadrupolo dupleto para foco / desfoque de feixe mais espalhamento múltiplo através de folhas de ouro para produzir feixes de íons pesados ​​de baixa intensidade, grande área e alta uniformidade de 1 H a 107 Ag. O objetivo geral da presente monografia é desvendar formas de violência obstétrica recorrentes nas salas de consulta médica e de parto dos hospitais brasileiros, que são tidas como práticas comuns, e com isso trazer à discussão como essas se normalizaram no entendimento popular, tornando praticamente impunes seus praticantes; trazer à conhecimento formas de combate à violência obstétrica, as medidas jurídicas que podem ser adotadas no apoio às gestantes e os meios de humanizar os partos, ou seja, desvinculá-los de atos violentos. O presente trabalho se dispõe a estudar formas de conscientizar à população de seus direitos enquanto seres humanos no momento em que trazem ao mundo outros seres humanos para que praticas violentas e desnecessárias, que visam a instrumentalização e comercialização do nascer sejam facilmente identificadas, evitadas e senão punidas. Faz-se uma análise sobre a história dos partos, os mitos relacionados à procedimentos adotados e as práticas que evoluíram em alguns pontos e regrediram em outros, através da leitura de livros relativos ao tema, leitura e entendimento da Lei da Doula, avaliação da competência para legislar sobre a atuação das Doulas, análise de casos concretos divulgados em sites confiáveis de comunicação e participação em palestras e cursos de extensão relativos ao tema. Chegando à conclusão de como é de grande importância a correta e ampla significação de “humanização” para que o conceito possa ser inserido no dia a dia de todas as mulheres parturientes, principal foco da pesquisa, de como a sociedade ao passo que evolui tecnológica e economicamente se afasta de sua humanidade, esquecendo a importância da dignidade dos seres, instrumentalizando e valorando economicamente suas vidas, com isso, gerando traumas irreparáveis e com pouco respaldo do Direito Brasileiro para aquelas que de pacientes se tornam vítimas.

The $^{10}\mathrm{B}+^{197}\mathrm{Au}$ reaction has been investigated through cross-section measurements for different channels, such as quasielastic and elastic scattering, inelastic excitation of low-lying $^{197}\mathrm{Au}$ states, and one-neutron pickup and one-proton stripping transfer reactions. Experimental angular distributions were obtained for 20 bombardment energies around the Coulomb barrier: $38\ensuremath{\le}{E}_{lab}\ensuremath{\le}61\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}\mathrm{MeV}$. Coupled reaction channels calculations have been performed in the context of the double-folding S\~ao Paulo potential, and details of the data analysis are discussed along the paper. In general, the theoretical calculations provide a satisfactory description of the data.

In a previous work, we presented data for the B10+Au197 system, corresponding to quasielastic and elastic scattering, Au197 inelastic excitation, and one neutron pickup transfer, measuring the angular distribution of scattered beam-like ejectiles at several energies around the Coulomb barrier. In this paper, we present data for the fusion process of the same system, at several energies around the Coulomb barrier, as well as new data for one neutron pickup and stripping transfer. In this case, we detected offline γ rays stemming from the β-delayed decay chain of fusion-evaporation residues and heavy transfer products. As in our previous work, we analyzed this data set with coupled reaction channels calculations using the São Paulo potential. We show that the coupling to the one neutron transfer channel is quite important to describe the fusion data at the sub-barrier energy region. We also provide a comparison of the experimental fusion cross sections obtained for B10+Au197 with data for several other systems involving the same target nucleus. Fil: Aversa, Martín. Biomarkers are widely used in ecotoxicology as indicators of exposure to toxicants. However, their ability to provide ecologically relevant information remains controversial. One of the major problems is understanding if the measured responses are determined by stress factors or lie within the natural variability range. In a previous work, the natural variability of enzymatic levels in invertebrates sampled in pristine rivers was proved to be relevant across both space and time. In this work, the experimental design was improved by considering different life stages of the selected taxa and by measuring more environmental parameters. The experimental design considered: sampling sites in two different rivers; eight sampling dates covering the whole seasonal cycle; four species from three different taxonomic groups (Plecoptera: Perla grandis; Ephemeroptera: Baetis alpinus and Epeorus alpicula; Tricoptera: Hydropsyche pellucidula); different life stages for each species; four enzymes: acetylcholinesterase, glutathione-S-transferase, alkaline phosphatase, and catalase. Biomarkers levels were related to environmental (physico-chemical) parameters to verify any kind of dependence. Data were statistically elaborated using hierarchical multilevel Bayesian models. Natural variability was found to be relevant across both space and time. The results of the present study proved that care should be paid when interpreting biomarker results. Alpha particle energy distributions in the 6He+120Sn collision have been measured at 7 bombarding energies above the Coulomb barrier. A phenomenological analysis of the centroids of the experimental distributions was performed and compared with the expected alpha-particle energies from breakup and neutron transfer reactions. Q-optimum conditions were determined using the Brinks formula for the di-neutron transfer reaction. A comparison of the measured alpha-particle production cross-sections with Continuum Discretized Coupled Channels (CDCC) calculations for breakup is presented. Silicon is a promising material for tissue engineering since it allows to produce micropatterned scaffolding structures resembling biological tissues. Using specific fabrication methods, it is possible to build aligned 3D network-like structures. In the present study, we exploited vertically-aligned silicon micropillar arrays as culture systems for human iPSC-derived cortical progenitors. In particular, our aim was to mimic the radially-oriented cortical radial glia fibres that during embryonic development play key roles in controlling the expansion, radial migration and differentiation of cortical progenitors, which are, in turn, pivotal to the establishment of the correct multilayered cerebral cortex structure. Here we show that silicon vertical micropillar arrays efficiently promote expansion and stemness preservation of human cortical progenitors when compared to standard monolayer growth conditions. Furthermore, the vertically-oriented micropillars allow the radial migration distinctive of cortical progenitors in vivo. These results indicate that vertical silicon micropillar arrays can offer an optimal system for human cortical progenitors&rsquo, growth and migration. Furthermore, similar structures present an attractive platform for cortical tissue engineering.

The elastic scattering of the radioactive proton-rich carbon isotope $^{10}\mathrm{C}$ has been investigated. A full differential angular distribution for the elastic scattering of $^{10}\mathrm{C}$ on a $^{58}\mathrm{Ni}$ target has been measured at ${E}_{\mathrm{Lab}}=35.3$ MeV, which is just above the Coulomb barrier for this system (${V}_{B}=27$ MeV). The obtained angular distribution was analyzed in terms of coupled-channels, coupled-reaction-channels, and continuum-discretized coupled-channels calculations. In the coupled-channels calculation, several inelastic transitions of the target and the first (${2}^{+}$) excited state of the $^{10}\mathrm{C}$ projectile were considered. The coupling to the first (${2}^{+}$) excited state of $^{10}\mathrm{C}$ was shown to be very important to describe the rising of the cross section at backward angles. We also performed an analysis with the continuum-discretized coupled channels, considering the $^{9}\mathrm{B}+p$ and $^{6}\mathrm{Be}+\ensuremath{\alpha}$ channels, which indicated a strong cluster configuration for the $^{10}\mathrm{C}$ projectile.

Elastic scattering and transfer cross sections for the $^{7}\mathrm{Be}+^{9}\mathrm{Be}$ system have been measured at ${E}_{\mathrm{lab}}=23.1\phantom{\rule{0.28em}{0ex}}\mathrm{MeV}$ using the $^{7}\mathrm{Be}$ radioactive secondary beam produced at Radioactive Ion Beams in Brazil facility at the University of S\~ao Paulo. The elastic scattering has been measured by detecting the $^{7}\mathrm{Be}$ scattered at forward angles in the laboratory system. The transfer reaction $^{9}\mathrm{Be}(^{7}\mathrm{Be},^{9}\mathrm{Be})^{7}\mathrm{Be}$ was identified by detecting the $^{9}\mathrm{Be}$ scattered at the same laboratory angles. The elastic angular distribution has been analyzed by optical model calculations using a Woods-Saxon form factor whose parameters have been varied to best reproduce the experimental data at forward angles. Coupled reaction channels calculations (CRC) have been performed to describe the transfer, considering the coupling to the transfer channel and including contributions to the ground state and to the first excited state of $^{7}\mathrm{Be}(1/2\ensuremath{-};429\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}\mathrm{keV}$) in the final state. The spectroscopic amplitudes used in the CRC calculation have been derived from shell-model calculations. Similar CRC calculations were applied to existing $^{9}\mathrm{Be}(p,t)^{7}\mathrm{Be}$ data to check the consistency of our results results for the ($^{7}\mathrm{Be},^{9}\mathrm{Be}$) transfer reaction.
