Integrative lighting concepts, the process of including the physiological and psychological impacts from lighting into the design process for buildings and urban spaces, are still in their infancy. There are many aspects that are not known or only partially understood and this restricts the widespread application of integrative lighting. We contribute to the pressing question of how organizational design influences corporate wrongdoing by studying different decision structures — simultaneous vs. sequential — in experimental coordination games. Participants can report private information honestly, or lie to increase their own, as well as the group's, payoff. In simultaneous decision structures, all group members report at the same time, without information about the reports of others, whereas in sequential decision structures there is a first mover who decides first. We find that the presence of a first mover decreases dishonesty levels in repeated interactions (but not in one-shot settings). In 2021, the UK Government commenced a 'cluster sequencing' initiative to identify early movers in delivering carbon transport and storage (T&S) services to proximate regional industry clusters with capture potential. A Scottish proposition focussed primarily on linking the Grangemouth industry cluster to North Sea storage, and the potential to transition Oil and Gas industry capacity to deliver CO2 T&S has devolved policy support. This is in terms of potential to transition and create new direct industry and supply chain jobs, set against risks of displacing jobs in different sectors and regions of the UK. We introduce a Scottish CO2 T&S industry to a UK multi-sector economy-wide model, assessing the extent of potential expansion and job creation in the presence of supply-side and funding constraints. We find that large employment 'multiplier' gains registered in previous studies only apply over the very long term and in the absence of such constraints. Crucially, any need to recover demands on the public purse via socialisation of costs severely constrains possible gains, while imposing 'polluter pays' leads to net economy-wide contractions triggered by competitiveness losses concentrated in Scottish cluster industries, leading to offshoring of production and jobs, potentially skewed within the localities hosting the clusters. When do brands get credit for contributing to the greater good? Prior research has shown that consumers reward brands for prosocial initiatives (e.g., corporate philanthropy, social responsibility, cause marketing) in line with the perceived purity of their motives. We report four experiments demonstrating that consumers interpret the order in which brands launch prosocial initiatives as a signal of their underlying motivations for doing good. Whereas prosocial first movers appear to care genuinely about the causes they support, prosocial followers (i.e., those that imitate the prosocial actions of other brands) typically seem to have more selfish intentions, even if their initiatives have an equal or greater social impact. This discrepancy in perceived motives, in turn, serves as an additional source of first mover preference, above and beyond previously studied first mover effects and unique to greater good marketing contexts. It also leads consumers to reward followers for launching more original prosocial initiatives, even if these seem less impactful for society. These findings bridge literatures on prosocial behavior and entry order, and they offer practical insight for brands looking to combine profits and purpose. With the help of time-dependent scattering theory on the observable algebra of infinitely extended quasifree fermionic chains, we introduce a general class of so-called right mover/left mover states which are inspired by the nonequilibrium steady states for the prototypical nonequilibrium configuration of a finite sample coupled to two thermal reservoirs at different temperatures. Under the assumption of spatial translation invariance, we relate the 2-point operator of such a right mover/left mover state to the asymptotic velocity of the system and prove that the system is thermodynamically nontrivial in the sense that its entropy production rate is strictly positive. Our study of these not necessarily gauge-invariant systems covers and substantially generalizes well-known quasifree fermionic chains and opens the way for a more systematic analysis of the heat flux in such systems. This paper investigates the selection of third-party logistics providers (3PLs) based on the best prices offered by them. The focus is on outbound logistics where 3PLs must have their own distribution centres for storage and picking activities. They must also have suitable trucks for distribution to different small-scale customers. The motivation for this paper is a case study from Germany in which a furniture company with hundreds of small customers in ten zones is seeking one or more 3PLs to do the distribution. A mathematical programming model was built based on integer programming where demand per order can be expressed using exponential distribution in each customer zone. The main contribution of this paper is that it finds the best 3PLs based on the different pricing methods of the various providers; this means including the location problem indirectly using the new integer programming model. The model takes into consideration three different methods of pricing based on the offers of five 3PLs. These different methods make it difficult for the decision makers to choose the best solution, especially if specific trends in demand are expected in the future for some customer zones. The results show that future increases in demand in terms of the number of orders or order size could affect the optimal solution. The field of hospitality is very dynamic, even if, some trends are difficult to change. Despite some strategic alliances were made by the large hoteliers, small accommodation units managed to retain to a certain extent an important part of the market. During the peak periods of the season, their role is an important one, because they take over the demand that remained unsatisfied by the big hoteliers. In the offseason, however, their lives are not easy. However, in certain specific situations, such as this health crisis, small hoteliers can take advantage of certain opportunities. Moreover, the COVID'19 crisis has upset an industry in which, even so, things were not very clear. If, in the first months of 2020, it seemed that the entire hotel industry will be affected equally, it later proved that those who adapt faster and take advantage of the opportunities offered by various decisions of the authorities, will have, at least in the short term, an advantage. This paper aims to study the way in which Romanian consumers will choose between classic accommodation in hotels and rental apartments in a daily basis. Since COVID'19 crisis will force the entire tourism industry to move from mass tourism to small groups tourism, we also aim to anticipate if this niche of accommodation in rental apartments will be capitalized. This paper analyzes migrant self-selection from Portugal between 1885 and 1930 for both men and women. Leveraging newly digitized data on migrants' characteristics across districts and literacy as a selection indicator, we document that self-selection was positive over the entire period but varied markedly across space and time. In some districts, migrants' literacy was similar to the general population, while in others over three times as large. In line with models of household migration, selection was significantly lower among migrant women, who were more likely to be tied movers. Our econometric analyses show a large negative relationship between migrant flows and self-selection, notably among men. We also find that the vintage of networks mattered differently by gender: male self-selection was more responsive to recent flows, while female self-selection was mostly influenced by past flows. Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are roundworms that parasitize insects with the aid of symbiotic bacteria. These nematodes have been used both as model organisms and for biological control of pests. The specialized third stage of an EPN, known as an infective juvenile (IJ) must forage to find a host with strategies varying from species to species (cruising, ambushing, and intermediate). Some IJs move more than others to find a host, despite an increased risk of predation and desiccation. This hints at potential underlying benefits (e.g., increased invasion) for EPNs that move more. We assessed whether EPNs that moved farther down a soil column also exhibit higher levels of invasion when compared to nematodes that remained at or near their point of origin. We found that movers in the cruisier and intermediate species: Steinernema riobrave, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora , and H. indica had higher invasion rates compared to their counterparts that did not move. S. carpocapsae , an ambusher, did not exhibit invasion differences between EPNs that moved versus those that did not. For the three cruiser/intermediate EPNs we tested, our results support our hypothesis that EPNs that tend to move more enjoy related benefits such as increased invasion potential. Further studies are required to explore other parameters that may interact with movement. Motion control of Blanket Remote Maintenance Mover (BRMM) is studied in the maintenance and transportation process of blanket in the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR). Firstly, the mathematical model of mover is established in state space function type to provide model basement of model predictive control (MPC) controller. Secondly, system state observer was designed to provide system states to controller. Thirdly, to realize high accuracy motion control of BRMM, MPC controller was solved by using innovative primal-dual method and Hildreth iterative method. Finally, simulation and experiment were conducted to verify the control effectiveness of proposed controller. The results showed that control error was reduced by 70 % by using proposed controller. The production of silk was an important aspect of the economy of Islamic Sicily that the Norman count and then kings of Sicily worked to maintain. The production of silk survived along with other economic practices of Islamic Sicily, such as irrigation techniques and land use. Silk continued to move along the trade routes of the Central Mediterranean into the twelfth century. While those connections were disrupted by unrest and revolt at the end of the twelfth century, they survived in some form until the mid-thirteenth century. When calculating the similarity between samples, the conventional KNN algorithm deemscach attribute equally important, and ignores the distinction of the attributes' significance. In order to address this issue, this paper employed the earth mover's distance to calculate the weight of each condition attribute. Firstly, this method divided two distributions according to the nearest neighbor relationship. Then, it designed an evaluation function based on earth mover's distance to gauge the inconsistency degree between the neighborhood of each sample with regard to each attribute and its equivalent refinement induced by the decision attribute. Last, it transformed the inconsistency degree to the significance of the corresponding attribute to implement an attribute weighted KNN. Through systematic experiments on several datasets, it verifies that the proposed method is insensitive to parameters and can significantly improve the classification performance of KNN, and outperforms some state-of the-art classification methods. The results show that this method can select more accurate nearest neighbor samples by attribute weighting, and can be widely used in methods base on nearest neighbor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The angle between the piezoelectric stack (PES) and the mover would significantly affect the output performances of stick-slip piezoelectric actuators in theory; however, this issue has not been explored. Accordingly, in this paper, to investigate the effects of the angle, a stick-slip piezoelectric actuator with a changeable angle between the PES and the mover was proposed, and its structure was briefly introduced first. Then, the relationship between the angle and the parasitic motion was theoretically calculated. After that, the output performances of the actuator were characterized under different angles between the PES and the mover. The results indicated that the angle between the PES and the mover significantly affected the one-step maximum displacement and the backward motion. Wind power enterprises and energy storage companies have combined to form a wind-storage supply chain. Choosing a wind-storage combined power generation system will help companies make faster and better decisions and increase the value of cooperation in the wind-storage supply chain. Based on industry characteristics, 22 indexes that affect the collaborative decision-making of wind-storage combined power generation systems are selected, and an index evaluation system based on the interpretative structure model is designed. The entropy method is used to determine the index weight. Three collaborative decision-making models are designed, namely, a collaborative decision-making model based on the entropy weight method–fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, a collaborative decision-making model based on the entropy method–TOPSIS, and a collaborative decision-making model based on fuzzy TOPSIS. The reliability of the model is verified through comparative analysis. At the same time, development suggestions in six aspects are put forward. In this article, I aim at defining the importance of gesture and movement in acting and actors’ training. In doing so, I will analyze some of the historical perspectives on gestures to get to the latest theories in this field with the hope of answering some seemingly banal but actually vital questions about the role of gesture in acting and performance: what do we mean when we say an actor is also a good mover and how does “good” movement or gestures serve this art? What are the best-known training techniques that used gestures and movement to improve acting? Considered as a body movement most often voluntarily controlled by the actor, the gesture is performed in order to produce a meaning that is not necessarily dependent on the spoken text. The gesture, as we hope to demonstrate, should not only be seen as one of the most important non-verbal tools that an actor disposes of, but also a vehicle to deliver feeling, emotions and meaning. Objective: The objective of the article is to examine the impact of breakthrough innovations, which make up the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), on the volume and structure of international trade. Research Design & Methods: The article is based on available literature and online sources. It is based on literature research, reports produced by a variety of research institutions, Internet sources, and desk research. Findings: The application of core innovations of the 4IR will lead to substantial changes to the volume and structure of international trade. There will be a considerable shift towards services, while in terms of products, the goods which will gain in importance owing to digitalization will include primarily those whose costs have so far been high in transport, logistics, information, regulation, and transaction. Implications & Recommendations: The implementation of 4IR's devices will change trade conditions substantially. First-movers will benefit the most, in line with the rule 'the winner takes it all.' Developed countries will enjoy the best competitive chances, given their advantage in terms of capital and technology. However, with falling trading costs and declining requirements in the trade's material infrastructure, small and medium-sized enterprises from developing countries will be able to increase their world trade share. Innovation intermediaries are seen as crucial and critical players in the development of emergent high-tech sectors, though the understanding of their activities is not yet holistic and depends on geographical and sectoral specificities. This paper empirically deploys a recently developed classification within a case study of the New Space sector in Scotland, a previously peripheral region within Space Industry, now emerging as a global leader. Based on secondary document analysis and mixed-method empirical research using primary data from surveys, interviews and social network analysis, this study examines: the positioning of the innovation intermediation organisations in Scottish Space sector's innovation network and the interventions they deploy and effects they expect to have on the sectoral actors. The Earth Mover's Distance (EMD) is a robust similarity measure between two histograms (e.g., probability distributions). It has been extensively used in a wide range of applications, e.g., multimedia, data mining, computer vision, etc. As EMD is a computationally intensive operation, many efficient lower and upper bound functions of EMD have been developed. However, they provide no guarantee on the error. In this work, we study how to compute approximate EMD value with bounded error. First, we develop a parametric dual bound function for EMD, in order to offer sufficient trade-off points for optimization. After that, we propose an approximation framework that leverages on lower and upper bound functions to compute approximate EMD with error guarantee. Abstract International trade is a key pathway for the global spread of nonnative species. Historical and emerging trade flows interact with ecological dynamics to shape nonnative species risk and determine how that risk can be mitigated. This article discusses these underlying processes, emerging trade trends, and the role of past and future economics research in understanding and managing nonnative species risks from trade. We identify four priorities for future economics research. These include expanding economic analysis to consider interventions across the biosecurity continuum more comprehensively, leveraging new data systems for real-time prediction and effective allocation of inspection effort, applying economic analysis to anticipate and respond to emerging trade trends, and improving understanding of exporter and consumer behavioral responses to policy interventions in order to encourage intended (and ameliorate unintended) reactions. The espoused benefits of transformative blockchain technologies appear to be the perfect solution for third party logistics cold storage companies who are facing a myriad of pressing organizational and industry issues. Positive states of organizational readiness are critical for successful implementation. A multi-case study of three 3rd party logistic cold storage companies examines factors impacting readiness for blockchain, and to what extent size may impact their preparedness. Results indicate that small and medium companies have a relatively low level of readiness to implement blockchain. The concept of service was quick to arise and has taken the world by storm in the past decade. It has gradually redefined the way warehouses are operated and has nurtured the emergence of a new kind of warehouse, namely the public warehouse (PW). Against this backdrop, a warehouse product service system (wPSS) based on the PW is established in this paper. Furthermore, in order to evaluate the service capability and optimise the resource configuration of a PW, a wPSS service capability maturity model (wPSS–SCMM) based on the analytical target cascading (ATC) algorithm is put forward. Firstly, the generation of wPSS service capability is clarified and the framework of wPSS–SCMM is proposed. After disassembling the wPSS service capability into a tree structure, its four main sub-capabilities, namely storage service capability, transportation service capability, cost control capability and time control capability, are modelled and quantised, respectively. Then the results of the four sub-capabilities are adopted in the ATC algorithm to search for the maximal service capability maturity and the optimal resource configuration solution. Finally, a numerical example of a PW with eight customers in an industrial park is analysed to demonstrate the feasibility and applicability of the proposed new approach.
