Simple Summary Plant-microorganism associations date back more than 400 million years. Plants host microorganisms that establish many different relationships with them, some negative and others very positive for both organisms. A type of this relationship is established with microorganisms that live inside them, known as endophytic microorganisms; they can include bacteria, yeasts, and fungi. In this study, we isolate endophytic bacteria from maize plants, and we characterize them in order to check their potential for being used as biocontrol agents against Botrytis cinerea, one of the most important phytopathogenic fungi in the world. The endophytic bacteria showed this antagonistic effect during in vitro assay and also during in vivo assay in Phaseolus vulgaris. At the same time, they showed the capacity for promoting growth in Zea mays plants. Plant diseases are one of the main factors responsible for food loss in the world, and 20-40% of such loss is caused by pathogenic infections. Botrytis cinerea is the most widely studied necrotrophic phytopathogenic fungus. It is responsible for incalculable economic losses due to the large number of host plants affected. Today, B. cinerea is controlled mainly by synthetic fungicides whose frequent application increases risk of resistance, thus making them unsustainable in terms of the environment and human health. In the search for new alternatives for the biocontrol of this pathogen, the use of endophytic microorganisms and their metabolites has gained momentum in recent years. In this work, we isolated endophytic bacteria from Zea mays cultivated in Colombia. Several strains of Bacillus subtilis, isolated and characterized in this work, exhibited growth inhibition against B. cinerea of more than 40% in in vitro cultures. La gaita colombiana es una tradición participativa de música y baile originaria de la región de Montes de María en el Caribe de Colombia. El conjunto de gaita y su música se ha extendido dentro y fuera de las fronteras nacionales debido a diferentes factores. Las escenas de la gaita en la actualidad son dibujadas por una nueva generación de gaiteros que posee mayores herramientas para la difusión. Esta nueva generación conforma grupos de gaitas en los que el factor de innovación irrumpe en una tradición dominada por el repertorio de maestros ancianos. La casi inexistente bibliografía dedicada a la performance de la gaita colombiana y al estudio de sus escenas justifica esta investigación en el marco de los estudios sobre las transculturaciones musicales y los movimientos transnacionales. La tesis doctoral aspira a presentar las adaptaciones de tipo psicológico, sociocultural y las reelaboraciones musicales y performativas que experimentan tres grupos de gaitas colombiana en Montes de María, Bogotá y Madrid. El foco de la investigación se dirige a poner en evidencia “qué hace” la música de gaita, y qué genera tanto en los músicos como en las audiencias que participan en los eventos. En este sentido, se aportan las narrativas de los hombres y mujeres que construyen esta tradición en contextos de riesgo social (Montes de María) y migración (Bogotá, Madrid) y la performance que toma lugar en estos espacios. Despite the accepted link between childhood abuse and positive psychotic symptoms, findings between other ad versities, such as neglect, and the remaining dimensions in people with psychosis have been inconsistent, with evidence not yet reviewed quantitatively. The aim of this study was to systematically examine quantitatively the association between broadly defined childhood adversity (CA), abuse (sexual/physical/emotional), and neglect (physical/emo tional) subtypes, with positive, negative, depressive, manic, and disorganized dimensions in those with psychosis. A search was conducted across EMBASE, MEDLINE, PsychINFO, and Cochrane Libraries using search terms related to psychosis population, CA, and psychopatholog ical dimensions. After reviewing for relevance, data were extracted, synthesized, and meta-analyzed. Forty-seven papers were identified, including 7379 cases across 40 studies examining positive, 37 negative, 20 depressive, 9 disorganized, and 13 manic dimensions. After adjustment for publication bias, general adversity was positively as sociated with all dimensions (ranging from r = 0.08 to r = 0.24). Most forms of abuse were associated with de pressive (ranging from r = 0.16 to r = 0.32), positive (ran ging from r = 0.14 to r = 0.16), manic (r = 0.13), and negative dimensions (ranging from r = 0.05 to r = 0.09), while neglect was only associated with negative (r = 0.13) and depressive dimensions (ranging from r = 0.16 to r = 0.20). When heterogeneity was found, it tended to be explained by one specific study. The depressive dimension was influenced by percentage of women (ranging from r = 0.83 to r = 1.36) and poor-quality scores (ranging from r = −0.21 and r = −0.059). Quality was judged as fair overall. Broadly defined adversity and forms of abuse increase transdimensional severity. Being exposed to ne glect during childhood seems to be exclusively related to negative and depressive dimensions suggesting specific effects.

The ensemble of the bagpipe and its music has spread both within and beyond the national borders due to different factors. The interpretations of today’s bagpipe are drawn by a new generation of pipers that possesses greater tools for dissemination. This new generation forms bagpipe groups in which the innovation factor bursts into a tradition dominated by the repertoire of elderly teachers. The almost non-existent bibliography dedicated to the performance of the Colombian bagpipe and the study of its interpretations justifies this research within the framework of studies on musical transculturations and transnational movements. The doctoral thesis aspires to present the psychological and sociocultural adaptations, as well as musical and performative reworkings, experienced by three Colombian bagpipe groups in Montes de María, Bogotá and Madrid. The focus of the investigation is directed toward demonstrating what bagpipe music “does” and what it generates in the musicians as well as the audiences that participate in the events. We are helped toward this end through the narratives of the men and women who build this tradition in contexts of social risk (Montes de María) and migration (Bogotá, Madrid), and the performance that takes place in these spaces. En este capítulo se presenta un acercamiento al fenómeno musical que tiene lugar en el Oriente boliviano a raíz del proceso de recuperación e implementación del repertorio musical misional y su impacto desde el punto de vista educativo, artístico y social. A través de una contextualización histórico-pedagógica se analizan las necesidades y retos de las sociedades del siglo XXI, y cómo la educación musical contribuye a dar respuestas al respecto. La práctica musical se contempla como una herramienta privilegiada de transformación individual y social, no solo para el desarrollo de habilidades específicas, sino también para el desarrollo de las habilidades socioemocionales; favorece el desarrollo integral del individuo, la interacción entre iguales, la sensibilización para el goce y disfrute de la interpretación musical y del hecho artístico, promueve la superación personal, la inclusión social y ayuda a poner en valor la propia identidad. Desde esta aproximación se contempla el fenómeno musical del Oriente boliviano como ejemplo paradigmático, singular y vivo de práctica musical transformadora desde el punto de vista educativo, artístico y social, tanto en el plano individual como comunitario.

Este capítulo analiza la última pieza para piano compuesta en París por Joaquín Turina : sus Tres danzas andaluzas, op. 8 (1912). A lo largo de estas páginas, eminentemente analíticas, se presenta una visión original en donde se propone una forma de sonata encubierta a través de las danzas que integran los distintos movimientos; danzas en las que los tres palos presentados (petenera, tango y zapateado) miran a dos claros puntos cardinales: América y España; Albéniz y Falla. Asimismo, este capítulo contextualiza la obra a partir del estudio de fuentes primarias, hemerográficas y epistolares, y propone las fuentes de su inspiración.
