This study aims to analyze; (1) the effect of human capital investment which includes education (primary education, secondary education, tertiary education) and health variables on labor productivity growth in Indonesia (2) the effect of physical capital investment as proxied by Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) on labor productivity growth in Indonesia (3) the effect of human capital investment and physical capital investment on labor productivity growth in Indonesia. The data used is secondary data from 34 provinces in Indonesia in 2016-2020 obtained from related institutions. This study uses panel data regression with the Common Effect Model approach. The results show that (1) human capital investment which includes education variables (primary education, secondary education, tertiary education) and health, each has a positive and significant effect on labor productivity growth in Indonesia (2) physical capital investment as a proxy for Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) has a negative and insignificant effect on labor productivity growth in Indonesia (3) investment in human capital and physical capital together has a significant effect on labor productivity growth in Indonesia

Motivation A reliable characterization of the membrane pore edge tension of single giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) requires the measurement of micrometer sized pores in hundreds to thousands of images. When manually performed, this procedure has shown to be extremely time-consuming and to generate inconsistent results among different users and imaging systems. A user-friendly software for such analysis allowing quick processing and generation of reproducible data had not yet been reported. Results We have developed a software (PoET) for automatic pore edge tension measurements on GUVs. The required image processing steps and the characterization of the pore dynamics are performed automatically within the software and its use allowed for a 30-fold reduction in the analysis time. We demonstrate the applicability of the software by comparing the pore edge tension of GUVs of different membrane compositions and surface charges. The approach was applied to electroporated GUVs but is applicable to other means of pore formation. Membrane fusion is known to be the primary mechanism of entry of flaviviruses into host cells. Several studies reported the investigation of the membrane fusion mechanism mediated by the fusion peptide, a component of the membrane protein surrounding the flaviviruses. In this study, we investigated the interaction of Dengue fusion peptide (FLAg) with Langmuir monolayers to uncover the role of membrane charges and organization in its membrane binding. Binding parameters of FLAg were obtained by measuring its adsorption onto Langmuir monolayers of different types of individual lipids, as well as their mixtures. Specific peptide binding was observed in the presence of charged lipid monolayers at different pHs, revealing that the lipid composition of the membrane modulates peptide interaction, and the preference of the peptide for negatively charged lipids.

Acidic environments, such as in inflamed tissues, favor the charged form of local anesthetics (LA). Hence, these drugs show less cell permeation and diminished potency. Since the analgesic capsaicin (CAP) triggers opening of the TRPV1 receptor pore, its combination with LAs could result in better uptake and improved anesthesia. We tested the above hypothesis and report here for the first time the analgesia effect of a two-drug combination (LA and CAP) on an inflamed tissue. First, CAP solubility increased up to 20 times with hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HP-&beta, CD), as shown by the phase solubility study. The resulting complex (HP-&beta, CD-CAP) showed 1:1 stoichiometry and high association constant, according to phase-solubility diagrams and isothermal titration calorimetry data. The inclusion complex formation was also confirmed and characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction, and 1H-NMR. The freeze-dried complex showed physicochemical stability for at least 12 months. To test in vivo performance, we used a pain model based on mouse paw edema. Results showed that 2% mepivacaine injection failed to anesthetize mice inflamed paw, but its combination with complexed CAP resulted in pain control up to 45 min. These promising results encourages deeper research of CAP as an adjuvant for anesthesia in inflamed tissues and cyclodextrin as a solubilizing agent for targeting molecules in drug delivery.

We present fluorocarbon-free block copolymer brushes as potential systems for dual-action, i.e., soil-repellent and soil-releasing textile finishes. Polymer brushes were prepared by employing specifically engineered triblock copolymers consisting of a hydrophobic, a hydrophilic, and either a central or a terminal anchor block bearing several anchoring groups for sustainable immobilization using the "grafting to" approach on both flat Si wafers and rough cotton fabrics. The switching characteristics of both types of block copolymer brushes were investigated by exposing the brushes to conditions and stimuli that are similar to those applied during laundering in a washing machine and drying in a laundry dryer, respectively. Contact angle measurements were performed to evaluate the polarity and wettability of the block copolymer brushes after treatment in hot water and in air, or in a vacuum at elevated temperatures simulating the washing and the drying procedure of a textile fabric. While the block copolymer brush with the terminal anchor showed only minor changes in terms of the wetting characteristics and the brush morphology upon the applied stimuli, the block copolymer brush with the central anchoring block exhibited a significant change from a hydrophilic (soil-releasing) to a hydrophobic (stain-repellent) surface. This switching behavior was reversible and could be achieved on both, flat Si wafers, and much more pronounced on rough cotton fabrics. Atomic force microscopy and angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy investigations further indicated a complete rearrangement of the brush morphology. Accordingly, we regard this type of block copolymer brushes as a system that fully meets the basic requirements for an application as a dual-action textile finish, which can be reversibly switched with respect to water repulsion.

ObjectiveTo examine the relationships between prenatal physical activity and prenatal and postnatal urinary incontinence (UI).DesignSystematic review with random effects meta-analysis and meta-regression.Data sourcesOnline databases were searched up to 6 January 2017.Study eligibility criteriaStudies of all designs were included (except case studies) if they were published in English, Spanish or French and contained information on the Population (pregnant women without contraindication to exercise), Intervention (subjective or objective measures of frequency, intensity, duration, volume or type of exercise, alone [“exercise-only”] or in combination with other intervention components [e.g., dietary; “exercise + co-intervention”]), Comparator (no exercise or different frequency, intensity, duration, volume and type of exercise) and Outcome (prenatal or postnatal UI).Results24 studies (n=15 982 women) were included. ‘Low’ to ‘moderate’ quality evidence revealed prenatal pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) with or without aerobic exercise decreased the odds of UI in pregnancy (15 randomised controlled trials (RCTs), n=2764 women; OR 0.50, 95% CI 0.37 to 0.68, I2=60%) and in the postpartum period (10 RCTs, n=1682 women; OR 0.63, 95% CI 0.51, 0.79, I2=0%). When we analysed the data by whether women were continent or incontinent prior to the intervention, exercise was beneficial at preventing the development of UI in women with continence, but not effective in treating UI in women with incontinence. There was ‘low’ quality evidence that prenatal exercise had a moderate effect in the reduction of UI symptom severity during (five RCTs, standard mean difference (SMD) −0.54, 95% CI −0.88 to –0.20, I2=64%) and following pregnancy (three RCTs, ‘moderate’ quality evidence; SMD −0.54, 95% CI −0.87 to –0.22, I2=24%).ConclusionPrenatal exercise including PFMT reduced the odds and symptom severity of prenatal and postnatal UI. This was the case for women who were continent before the intervention. Among women who were incontinent during pregnancy, exercise training was not therapeutic.

ObjectiveThe purpose of this review was to investigate the relationship between prenatal exercise, and low back (LBP), pelvic girdle (PGP) and lumbopelvic (LBPP) pain.DesignSystematic review with random effects meta-analysis and meta-regression.Data sourcesOnline databases were searched up to 6 January 2017.Study eligibility criteriaStudies of all designs were eligible (except case studies and reviews) if they were published in English, Spanish or French, and contained information on the population (pregnant women without contraindication to exercise), intervention (subjective or objective measures of frequency, intensity, duration, volume or type of exercise, alone [“exercise-only”] or in combination with other intervention components [eg, dietary; “exercise + co-intervention”]), comparator (no exercise or different frequency, intensity, duration, volume and type of exercise) and outcome (prevalence and symptom severity of LBP, PGP and LBPP).ResultsThe analyses included data from 32 studies (n=52 297 pregnant women). ‘Very low’ to ‘moderate’ quality evidence from 13 randomised controlled trials (RCTs) showed prenatal exercise did not reduce the odds of suffering from LBP, PGP and LBPP either in pregnancy or the postpartum period. However, ‘very low’ to ‘moderate’ quality evidence from 15 RCTs identified lower pain severity during pregnancy and the early postpartum period in women who exercised during pregnancy (standardised mean difference −1.03, 95% CI −1.58, –0.48) compared with those who did not exercise. These findings were supported by ‘very low’ quality evidence from other study designs.ConclusionCompared with not exercising, prenatal exercise decreased the severity of LBP, PGP or LBPP during and following pregnancy but did not decrease the odds of any of these conditions at any time point.

ObjectiveGestational weight gain (GWG) has been identified as a critical modifier of maternal and fetal health. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to examine the relationship between prenatal exercise, GWG and postpartum weight retention (PPWR).DesignSystematic review with random effects meta-analysis and meta-regression. Online databases were searched up to 6 January 2017.Study eligibility criteriaStudies of all designs in English, Spanish or French were eligible (except case studies and reviews) if they contained information on the population (pregnant women without contraindication to exercise), intervention (frequency, intensity, duration, volume or type of exercise, alone [“exercise-only”] or in combination with other intervention components [eg, dietary; “exercise + co-intervention”]), comparator (no exercise or different frequency, intensity, duration, volume or type of exercise) and outcomes (GWG, excessive GWG (EGWG), inadequate GWG (IGWG) or PPWR).ResultsEighty-four unique studies (n=21 530) were included. ‘Low’ to ‘moderate’ quality evidence from randomised controlled trials (RCTs) showed that exercise-only interventions decreased total GWG (n=5819; −0.9 kg, 95% CI −1.23 to –0.57 kg, I2=52%) and PPWR (n=420; −0.92 kg, 95% CI −1.84 to 0.00 kg, I2=0%) and reduced the odds of EGWG (n=3519; OR 0.68, 95% CI 0.57 to 0.80, I2=12%) compared with no exercise. ‘High’ quality evidence indicated higher odds of IGWG with prenatal exercise-only (n=1628; OR 1.32, 95% CI 1.04 to 1.67, I2=0%) compared with no exercise.ConclusionsPrenatal exercise reduced the odds of EGWG and PPWR but increased the risk of IGWG. However, the latter result should be interpreted with caution because it was based on a limited number of studies (five RCTs).

ObjectiveTo investigate the relationships between exercise and incidence of congenital anomalies and hyperthermia.DesignSystematic review with random-effects meta-analysis .Data sourcesOnline databases were searched from inception up to 6 January 2017.Study eligibility criteriaStudies of all designs were eligible (except case studies and reviews) if they were published in English, Spanish or French, and contained information on population (pregnant women without contraindication to exercise), intervention (subjective or objective measures of frequency, intensity, duration, volume or type of exercise, alone [“exercise-only”] or in combination with other intervention components [e.g., dietary; “exercise + co-intervention”]), comparator (no exercise or different frequency, intensity, duration, volume or type of exercise) and outcome (maternal temperature and fetal anomalies).ResultsThis systematic review and meta-analysis included ‘very low’ quality evidence from 14 studies (n=78 735) reporting on prenatal exercise and the odds of congenital anomalies, and ‘very low’ to ‘low’ quality evidence from 15 studies (n=447) reporting on maternal temperature response to prenatal exercise. Prenatal exercise did not increase the odds of congenital anomalies (OR 1.23, 95% CI 0.77 to 1.95, I2=0%). A small but significant increase in maternal temperature was observed from pre-exercise to both during and immediately after exercise (during: 0.26°C, 95% CI 0.12 to 0.40, I2=70%; following: 0.24°C, 95% CI 0.17 to 0.31, I2=47%).Summary/ConclusionsThese data suggest that moderate-to-vigorous prenatal exercise does not induce hyperthermia or increase the odds of congenital anomalies. However, exercise responses were investigated in most studies after 12 weeks’ gestation when the risk of de novo congenital anomalies is negligible.

Este artigo tem como temática Alteridade e Educação. Objetiva compreender como a Alteridade está presente no contexto escolar, a partir dos dizeres e atitudes de educandos. Utilizamos Emmanuel Lévinas e Paulo Freire para fundamentar nossas reflexões respectivamente em torno das temáticas da Alteridade e da formação de professores, além de outros autores e documentos da educação básica. De cunho qualitativo e exploratório, esta pesquisa foi desenvolvida com educandos de uma escola pública de Blumenau-SC. Para produção dos dados utilizamos a realização de rodas de conversa com um grupo focal. Os dados que foram coletados a partir dos dizeres dos educandos, em relação às diferenças, demonstram que há estereótipos ainda fortemente presentes na sociedade e que, consequentemente, excluem aqueles que fogem do padrão. " The presence of otherness in the context of a public school: na analysis based on the thoughts of the students Abstract This article has the theme of Alterity and Education. It aims to understand how the Alterity is present in the context of the school, based on sayings and attitudes of learners. We use Emannuel Levinas and Paulo Freire to base our reflections respectively on the subject of Alterity and teacher training, as well as other authors and documents of the basic education. This research used qualitative method and is defined as exploratory. It was developed with students of a public school in the city of Blumenau-SC. To produce the data we did conversation circles with a focus group. The data show that students' statements about differences carry stereotypes that are still strongly present in our society and therefore exclude those who are out of the patterns. Keywords: Alterity.
