This edited volume examines the current state of e-commerce in ASEAN countries. It highlights some of the key domestic and cross-border challenges faced by ASEAN member states in developing e-commerce. These challenges include the regulatory and legal environment in which e-commerce firms operate across ASEAN, and the supporting infrastructure in ASEAN member states.

Indonesia is undergoing a process of rapid change, with an affluent middle class due to hit 141 million people by 2020. While official statistics suggest that internet penetration is low, over 70 million Indonesians have a Facebook account, the fourth highest group in the world. Jakarta is the Twitter capital of the world with more tweets per minute than any other city around the globe. In the past ten years digitalisation of media content has enabled extensive concentration and conglomeration of the industry, and media owners are wealthier and more politically powerful than ever before. Digital media is a prominent place of contestation between large, powerful oligarchs, and citizens looking to bring about rapid and meaningful change. This book examines how the political agencies of both oligarchs and ‘netizens'are enhanced by digitalisation, and how an increasingly divergent society is being formed. In doing so, this book enters this debate about the transformations of society and power in the digital age.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Soft Computing, Intelligent Systems, and Information Technology, ICSIIT 2015, held in Bali, Indonesia, in March 2015. The 34 revised full papers presented together with 19 short papers, one keynote and 2 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 92 submissions. Das ist die Grundposition des hier vorgestellten Kommunikativen Konstruktivismus.Die versammelten Beiträge versuchen zum einen, den Ansatz des kommunikativen Konstruktivismus theoretisch zu begründen. Zum zweiten wird der Ansatz in empirischen Arbeiten umgesetzt, die sich mit den unterschiedlichen Themen in verschiedenen soziologischen Teildisziplinen (Wissenschaftssoziologie, Migrationssoziologie, Mediensoziologie) beschäftigen. Zum dritten beinhaltet der Band Arbeiten, die Anschlüsse zu anderen Disziplinen herstellen, wie etwa zu der Stadt- und Regionalplanung, der Organisationsforschung und der Kommunikationswissenschaft.

Die Wissenssoziologische Diskursanalyse (WDA) verbindet theoretische Grundlegungen der wissenssoziologischen Tradition von Peter Berger und Thomas Luckmann mit Diskursperspektiven von Michel Foucault. Sie zielt auf die Diskursanalyse gesellschaftlicher Wissensverhältnisse sowie Wissenspolitiken und deren Folgen. Dieser Band präsentiert methodologische Reflexionen, methodische Vorgehensweisen, exemplarische Anwendungen und Kombinationen der WDA mit anderen sozialwissenschaftlichen Perspektiven aus unterschiedlichen disziplinären Kontexten.

The Internet in Indonesia's New Democracy is a detailed study of legal, economic, political and cultural practices surrounding the provision and consumption of the Internet in Indonesia at the turn of the twenty-first century.
