As an innovation, Blockchain has transformed numerous industries and sparked the interest of the research community due to its abundance of benefits, opening up diverse research routes in the healthcare sector in the last decade. With Health 4.0 becoming ubiquitous in the healthcare industry, end-user transactions are being carried out on a decentralized network, making Blockchain profitable to meet the demands of the modern healthcare sector. Therefore, a detailed analysis of Blockchain is very crucial. This study emphasizes the evolution of science and the preliminary research of Blockchain in healthcare through bibliometric analysis. All the data are extracted from the Scopus database, and the VOSviewer tool is used for analysis. A total of 1152 Scopus articles published between 2018 and 2022 are examined. Results reveal that in 2022, the field of Blockchain experienced a notable increment in the number of publications and a significant growth rate. IEEE Access became well known in this field and had a large number of citations. It is observed that China and India are the leading countries in terms of publications on Blockchain. This study offers a number of recommendations that amateur and professional researchers can use as a benchmark before commencing a Blockchain investigation in the future.

Abstract The distribution of A‐ and B‐type‐sized starch granules plays a deciding role in controlling the physicochemical, structural, morphological, and functional attributes of wheat starch. Starches of three Indian wheat varieties, viz. DBW 16, WH 147, and WH 542, were fractionated into A‐ and B‐type starch granules and further evaluated for their influence on various attributes of wheat starches using different analytical tools like X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry, and rapid viscoanalyzer. SEM revealed that the size of large granules (A‐type) ranged from 12.6 to 36.4 µm and small granules (B‐type) varied from 2.53 to 7.52 µm. The amylose content was significantly higher for A‐type starch ranging from 26.6% to 29.68% than B‐type starch ranging from 19.20% to 22.38%. The highest swelling power was observed for B‐type granules, followed by native and A‐type granules, and similar trend was noticed for water absorption. Pasting viscosities of A‐type granules were higher than B‐type for starches of all wheat varieties. A higher pasting temperature was observed in B‐type starch granules, suggesting more resistance to swell during the heating process. X‐ray diffraction of wheat starches showed A‐type pattern of crystallinity, variety DBW 16 (27%) showed the highest relative crystallinity and intensities of peaks in comparison to varieties WH 147 (23.5%) and WH 542 (22.4% as observed in diffractograms and well supported by Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy. Fractionated large granules of wheat starches exhibited a higher gelatinization temperature than smaller granules and native starches for all the varieties. It was also observed that A‐type granules had higher onset temperature comparatively, which suggested that high energy is required in gelatinization due to more ordered arrangement of starch molecules.

Abstract Milk yield is the most complex trait in dairy animals, and mapping all causal variants even with smallest effect sizes has been difficult with the genome-wide association study (GWAS) sample sizes available in geographical regions with small livestock holdings such as Indian sub-continent. However, Transcriptome-wide association studies (TWAS) could serve as an alternate for fine mapping of expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs). This is a maiden attempt to identify milk production and its composition related genes using TWAS in Murrah buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis). TWAS was conducted on a test (N = 136) set of Murrah buffaloes genotyped through ddRAD sequencing. Their gene expression level was predicted using reference (N = 8) animals having both genotype and mammary epithelial cell (MEC) transcriptome information. Gene expression prediction was performed using Elastic-Net and Dirichlet Process Regression (DPR) model with fivefold cross-validation and without any cross-validation. DPR model without cross-validation predicted 80.92% of the total genes in the test group of Murrah buffaloes which was highest compared to other methods. TWAS in test individuals based on predicted gene expression, identified a significant association of one unique gene for Fat%, and two for SNF% at Bonferroni corrected threshold. The false discovery rates (FDR) corrected P-values of the top ten SNPs identified through GWAS were comparatively higher than TWAS. Gene ontology of TWAS-identified genes was performed to understand the function of these genes, it was revealed that milk production and composition genes were mainly involved in Relaxin, AMPK, and JAK-STAT signaling pathway, along with CCRI, and several key metabolic processes. The present study indicates that TWAS offers a lower false discovery rate and higher significant hits than GWAS for milk production and its composition traits. Hence, it is concluded that TWAS can be effectively used to identify genes and cis-SNPs in a population, which can be used for fabricating a low-density genomic chip for predicting milk production in Murrah buffaloes.

Maintaining a healthy protein folding environment is essential for cellular function. Recently, we found that nucleic acids, G-quadruplexes in particular, are potent chaperones for preventing protein aggregation. With the aid of structure-function and NMR analyses of two G-quadruplex forming sequences, PARP-I and LTR-III, we uncovered several contributing factors that affect G-quadruplexes in preventing protein aggregation. Notably, three factors emerged as vital in determining holdase activity of G-quadruplexes: their structural topology, G-quadruplex accessibility and dynamics, and oligomerization state. These factors together appear to largely dictate whether a G-quadruplex is able to prevent partially misfolded proteins from aggregating. Understanding the physical traits that govern the ability of G-quadruplexes to modulate protein aggregation will help elucidate their possible roles in neurodegenerative disease.

Nowadays, forecasting methods have gained significant attention, particularly with the design and development of energy systems. In fact, accurate load and price forecasting is crucial for effective planning, controlling, and operation of power systems, especially with renewable energy sources (RES). This paper implemented an improved Markov Chain Artificial Neural network (ANN-MC) for load forecasting. The proposed design involved a two-step implementation process, considering various statistical factors such as daily and weekly load, date/time of the year, environmental factors (e.g., dry bulb temperature and dew point), and user behaviour on weekdays and weekends. The test cases were conducted using historical data from ISO New England spanning the years 2004 to 2020. Moreover, the validation of the proposed model has been confirmed through comparing the results with those of Gaussian Process Regression (GPR), Regression Decision Tree (RDT), deep learning Bi-Long Short Memory (bi-LSTM), MLP, and conventional ANN. This article discusses the use of various performance indices such as MAPE, MPE, skewness, kurtosis, and risk indices for evaluating model performance. The performance of a developed model is compared with a conventional ANN model, and its performance is studied for both yearly and seasonal variations. In addition to existing indices, the article proposes two risk indices. The first is based on evaluating the standard deviation of load increment for each time, while the second is based on MC-ANN, the error between forecasted and actual loads. The risk assessment is compared between different cases such as actual load, load forecasting with ANN, and enhanced ANN-MC. Finally, the result confirms that the enhanced ANN-MC provides a higher yearly MPE value compared to other methods. In addition, it has a higher computational time than the conventional ANN-MC model, which is approximately 180.7s and 221.8s, respectively.

Abstract This study quantifies the groundwater fluoride contamination and assesses associated health risks in fluoride-prone areas of the city of Taj Mahal, Agra, India. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) risk model and Monte Carlo Simulations were employed for the assessment. Result revealed that, among various rural and urban areas Pachgain Kheda exhibited the highest average fluoride concentration (5.20 mg/L), while Bagda showed the lowest (0.33 mg/L). Similarly, K.K. Nagar recorded 4.38 mg/L, and Dayalbagh had 1.35 mg/L. Both urban and rural areas exceeded the WHO-recommended limit of 1.5 mg/L, signifying significant public health implications. Health risk assessment indicated a notably elevated probability of non-carcinogenic risk from oral groundwater fluoride exposure in the rural Baroli Ahir block. Risk simulations highlighted that children faced the highest health risks, followed by teenagers and adults. Further, Monte Carlo simulation addressed uncertainties, emphasizing escalated risks for for children and teenagers. The Hazard Quotient (HQ) values for the 5th and 95th percentile in rural areas ranged from was 0.28–5.58 for children, 0.15–2.58 for teenager, and 0.05–0.58 for adults. In urban areas, from the range was 0.53 to 5.26 for children, 0.27 to 2.41 for teenagers, and 0.1 to 0.53 for adults. Physiological and exposure variations rendered children and teenagers more susceptible. According to the mathematical model, calculations for the non-cancerous risk of drinking water (HQ-ing), the most significant parameters in all the targeted groups of rural areas were concentration (CW) and Ingestion rate (IR). These findings hold relevance for policymakers and regulatory boards in understanding the actual impact and setting pre-remediation goals.

Abstract Background Exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) is arguably the most ubiquitous and hazardous, even at very low levels, starting in early life. The objective of this study was to describe the state of research and future trends on ETS exposure and Children’s Health (CH) topics with bibliometrics and altmetrics. Methods An electronic search was performed in Scopus database on January 31, 2023. Consensus was arrived on 100 most-cited articles by two reviewers. These papers were then cross matched with citations harvested from Web of Science (WoS) and Google Scholar. Altmetric Attention Score (AAS) and Dimension counts were also collected. Analysis and network visualization of authors, countries, and keywords were generated using VOSviewer software. Results Among a total of 1107 articles published on ETS and CH, the 100 top-cited articles appeared in 54 journals, with Pediatrics (n = 12) contributing a maximum number of articles. The time period between 2000 and 2009 accounted for 44% of all publications. With respect to the research design employed across these studies, cross-sectional design took precedence over others accounting for approximately 40%. Predominantly, articles focused on childhood asthma; however, current research trends have shifted towards emerging fields such as children’s oral health and DNA methylation. Twitter, policy documents, and news outlets were the main platforms where outputs were discussed. The AAS was not associated with journal impact factor or access type. Weak correlations were observed between AAS and citation count in Scopus, WoS, and Google Scholar (r = 0.17 to 0.27) while a positive association existed between dimension count and the number of citations across all three databases (r = 0.84 to 0.98). Conclusion This study demonstrates the evolution, digital dissemination and research hotspots in the field of ETS and CH, predicting the possible future research directions. High-quality studies with more specific exposure classification are warranted to better understand the relationship between ETS and CH.

The utilization of computational models in the field of medical image classification is an ongoing and unstoppable trend, driven by the pursuit of aiding medical professionals in achieving swift and precise diagnoses. Post COVID-19, many researchers are studying better classification and diagnosis of lung diseases particularly, as it was reported that one of the very few diseases greatly affecting human beings was related to lungs. This research study, as presented in the paper, introduces an advanced computer-assisted model that is specifically tailored for the classification of 13 lung diseases using deep learning techniques, with a focus on analyzing chest radiograph images. The work flows from data collection, image quality enhancement, feature extraction to a comparative classification performance analysis. For data collection, an open-source data set consisting of 112,000 chest X-Ray images was used. Since, the quality of the pictures was significant for the work, enhanced image quality is achieved through preprocessing techniques such as Otsu-based binary conversion, contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization-driven noise reduction, and Canny edge detection. Feature extraction incorporates connected regions, histogram of oriented gradients, gray-level co-occurrence matrix and Haar wavelet transformation, complemented by feature selection via regularized neighbourhood component analysis. The paper proposes an optimized hybrid model, improved Aquila optimization convolutional neural networks (CNN), which is a combination of optimized CNN and DENSENET121 with applied batch equalization, which provides novelty for the model compared with other similar works. The comparative evaluation of classification performance among CNN, DENSENET121 and the proposed hybrid model is also done to find the results. The findings highlight the proposed hybrid model's supremacy, boasting 97.00% accuracy, 94.00% precision, 96.00% sensitivity, 96.00% specificity and 95.00% F1-score. In the future, potential avenues encompass exploring explainable machine learning for discerning model decisions and optimizing performance through strategic model restructuring.

Abstract Recent research has focused on nanoparticles. Aedes albopictus is a potential vector that transmits fatal diseases. Recently, Phyto-reduced silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were shown to be mosquito larvicides. This study aimed to synthesize silver nanoparticles using Diospyros montana leaf extract, characterize them, and test their efficacy as larvicide and pupicide against Ae. albopictus mosquitoes, determine their duration of effectiveness as a larvicide, identify plant compounds that help to synthesize nanoparticles, and assess their effects on non-target organisms. Quercetin, luteolin, kaempferol, gallocatechin gallate, epigallocatechin gallate, and capsaicin are among the novel reducing and capping agents found in D. montana leaf through LCMS analysis. The color shift and distinctive peak in UV–Vis spectroscopy made it simple to see how biogenic AgNPs were produced by converting Ag+ ions into Ag0. Substantial negative value (− 19.10 mv) of zeta potential demonstrated the long-term stability of AgNPs. A moderate range (8.72 − 50.75 nm) of particle size distribution pattern was obtained using the DLS technique. Abstract This paper investigates the intricate energy distribution patterns emerging at an orthotropic piezothermoelastic half-space interface by considering the influence of a higher-order three-phase lags heat conduction law, accompanied by memory-dependent derivatives (referred to as HPS) within the underlying thermoelastic half-space (referred to as TS). This study explores the amplitude and energy ratios of reflected and transmitted waves. These waves span various incident types, including longitudinal, thermal, and transversal, as they propagate through the TS and interact at the interface. Upon encountering the interface, an intriguing dynamic unfolds: three waves experience reflection within the TS medium, while four waves undergo transmission into the HPS medium. A graphical representation effectively illustrates the impact of higher-order time differential parameters and memory to offer comprehensive insights. This visual representation reveals the nuanced fluctuations of energy ratios with the incidence angle. The advent of the fourth industrial revolution and connection with devices and sensors produced extensive arbitrary, discordant data in IIoT platforms. The IIoT platforms have experienced a sea change and their progressively difficult and acquiring intricate. As a result, devices within the network manifest part of the trusted network, therefore compromising other devices in the network. In order to, circumvent is a requirement for a simple safety mechanism between devices to derived by applying a Zerotrust principle. In this work a novel method called, Streebog Cryptographic Substitution Permutation Network-based Transfer Fuzzy Learning (SCSPN-TFL) to improve the network access time. First, device security is designed via the policy engine and policy administrator module using the SCSPN model. SCSPN is performed into IIoT to improve the secure data communication between devices. Next, the device block is sent to receiver for performing decryption and obtaining original device information by such policy and studying communication patterns between devices. Next, data security is presented via a policy enforcement module using Transfer Fuzzy Learning. The results show that the proposed method achieves better data confidentially rate as 8 %, minimal network access time as 28 %, a better data integrity rate as 9 % and a reduced false positive rate as 25 %, as compared to existing techniques.

This study explored the use of lucuma fruit powder in an ice cream formulation for the US market. Six ice cream prototypes were developed using five different lucuma fruit powder variants. A central location test was conducted with frequent ice cream consumers (n = 106) to assess acceptance, attribute intensity rating, ideal intensity levels, and purchase intent against a control sample with caramel flavor. The mean overall liking score for all lucuma ice creams was moderate. The overall, aroma, and flavor liking scores were significantly higher (p < 0.05) for lucuma ice cream samples, whereas the control sample was liked significantly more for texture. The Terrasoul variant of lucuma ice cream was the most liked among all samples, and the control was liked the least. Only the Terrasoul ice cream sample was successful in delivering significantly strong caramel, fruit, and sweet flavor levels; the other lucuma ice cream samples were more comparable to the control. The inclusion of lucuma powder increased powdery mouthfeel perception, negatively impacting texture liking. Consumers perceived all ice cream samples to be weak in flavor and fell short of delivering ideal levels. The US consumers had low–moderate food neophobia scores for lucuma fruit, with 57% showing interest in buying lucuma ice creams.

The health of mechanical components can be assessed by analyzing the vibration and acoustic signals they produce. These signals contain valuable information about the component’s condition, often encoded within specific frequency bands. However, extracting this information is challenging due to noise contamination from various sources. Narrow-band amplitude demodulation presents a robust technique for isolating fault-related information within the signal. This work proposes a novel approach based on cluster-based segmentation for demodulating the signal and extracting the frequency band of interest. The segmentation process leverages the criteria of maximum L-kurtosis and minimum entropy. L-kurtosis maximizes impulsiveness in the signal, while minimum entropy signifies a low degree of randomness and high cyclo-stationarity, and both characteristics are crucial for identifying the desired frequency band. Simulations and experimental tests using vibration signals from different gears demonstrate the effectiveness of this technique. The processed envelope of the signal exhibits distinct improvements, highlighting the ability to accurately extract the fault-related information embedded within the complex noise-ridden signals. This approach offers a promising solution for accurate and efficient fault diagnosis in mechanical systems, contributing to enhanced reliability and reduced downtime.

The growing challenge of food waste management presents a critical opportunity for advancing the circular bioeconomy, aiming to transform waste into valuable resources. This paper explores innovative strategies for converting food wastes into renewable food resources, emphasizing the integration of sustainable technologies and zero-waste principles. The main objective is to demonstrate how these approaches can contribute to a more sustainable food system by reducing environmental impacts and enhancing resource efficiency. Novel contributions of this study include the development of bioproducts from various food waste streams, highlighting the potential of underutilized resources like bread and jackfruit waste. Through case studies and experimental findings, the paper illustrates the successful application of green techniques, such as microbial fermentation and bioprocessing, in valorizing food wastes. The implications of this research extend to policy frameworks, encouraging the adoption of circular bioeconomy models that not only address waste management challenges but also foster economic growth and sustainability. These findings underscore the potential for food waste to serve as a cornerstone in the transition to a circular, regenerative economy.

The management of vision-threatening retinal diseases remains challenging due to the lack of an effective drug delivery system. Encapsulated cell therapy (ECT) offers a promising approach for the continuous delivery of therapeutic agents without the need for immunosuppressants. In this context, an injectable and terminable collagen–alginate composite (CAC) ECT gel, designed with a Tet-on pro-caspase-8 system, was developed as a safe intraocular drug delivery platform for the sustained release of glial-cell-line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) to treat retinal degenerative diseases. This study examined the potential clinical application of the CAC ECT gel, focusing on its safety, performance, and termination through doxycycline (Dox) administration in the eyes of healthy New Zealand White rabbits, as well as its therapeutic efficacy in rabbits with sodium-iodate (SI)-induced retinal degeneration. The findings indicated that the CAC ECT gel can be safely implanted without harming the retina or lens, displaying resistance to degradation, facilitating cell attachment, and secreting bioactive GDNF. Furthermore, the GDNF levels could be modulated by the number of implants. Moreover, Dox administration was effective in terminating gel function without causing retinal damage. Notably, rabbits with retinal degeneration treated with the gels exhibited significant functional recovery in both a-wave and b-wave amplitudes and showed remarkable efficacy in reducing photoreceptor apoptosis. Given its biocompatibility, mechanical stability, controlled drug release, terminability, and therapeutic effectiveness, our CAC ECT gel presents a promising therapeutic strategy for various retinal diseases in a clinical setting, eliminating the need for immunosuppressants.

Copper is known to have toxic effects on bacterial growth. This study aimed to determine the influence of copper ions on Oleidesulfovibrio alaskensis G20 biofilm formation in a lactate-C medium supplemented with variable copper ion concentrations. OA G20, when grown in media supplemented with high copper ion concentrations of 5, 15, and 30 µM, exhibited inhibited growth in its planktonic state. Conversely, under similar copper concentrations, OA G20 demonstrated enhanced biofilm formation on glass coupons. Microscopic studies revealed that biofilms exposed to copper stress demonstrated a change in cellular morphology and more accumulation of carbohydrates and proteins than controls. Consistent with these findings, sulfur (dsrA, dsrB, sat, aprA) and electron transport (NiFeSe, NiFe, ldh, cyt3) genes, polysaccharide synthesis (poI), and genes involved in stress response (sodB) were significantly upregulated in copper-induced biofilms, while genes (ftsZ, ftsA, ftsQ) related to cellular division were negatively regulated compared to controls. These results indicate that the presence of copper ions triggers alterations in cellular morphology and gene expression levels in OA G20, impacting cell attachment and EPS production. This adaptation, characterized by increased biofilm formation, represents a crucial strategy employed by OA G20 to resist metal ion stress.

(1) Introduction: Adolescents with complex congenital heart disease (CCHD) show brain tissue injuries in regions associated with cognitive deficits. Alteration in cerebral arterial perfusion (CAP), as measured by arterial transit time (ATT), may lead to perfusion deficits and potential injury. Our study aims to compare ATT values between CCHD patients and controls and assess the associations between ATT values, MD values, and cognitive scores in adolescents with CCHD. (2) Methods: 37 CCHD subjects, 14–18 years of age, who had undergone surgical palliation and 30 healthy controls completed cognitive testing and brain MRI assessments using a 3.0-Tesla scanner. ATT values and regional brain mean diffusivity [MD] were assessed for the whole brain using diffusion tensor imaging. (3) Results: The mean MoCA values [23.1 ± 4.1 vs. 28.1 ± 2.3; p < 0.001] and General Memory Index, with a subscore of WRAML2 [86.8 ± 15.4 vs. 110.3 ± 14.5; p < 0.001], showed significant cognitive deficits in CCHD patients compared to controls. The mean global ATT was significantly higher in CCHD patients versus controls (mean ± SD, s, 1.26 ± 0.11 vs. 1.19 ± 0.11, p = 0.03), respectively. The partial correlations between ATT values, MD values, and cognitive scores (p < 0.005) showed significant associations in areas including the hippocampus, prefrontal cortices, cerebellum, caudate, anterior and mid cingulate, insula, thalamus, and lingual gyrus. (4) Conclusions: Adolescents with CCHD had prolonged ATTs and showed correlation with clinical measurements of cognitive impairment and MRI measurements of brain tissue integrity. This suggests that altered CAP may play a role in brain tissue injury and cognitive impairment after surgical palliation.

Background: Majority of Head and Neck Squamous Cell Cancer patients in India present in advanced stages. They are not candidates for multimodality treatment due to loco-regionally advanced disease and poor performance status. Hypo-fractionated regimens have been used for palliation of advanced head and neck cancers. Purpose: The purpose of this study to compare the acute and late toxicity and overall response of octa shot and quad shot radiation therapy as palliative regime in locally advanced head and neck cancers. Materials and methods: A hospital based prospective, randomized study was conducted with 50 patients of advanced Squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck, 25 patients taken in each arm. Two fractions(3.5Gy/#) per day six hours apart was given in four consecutive days (Octa shot). Two fractions (3.5Gy/#) per day six hours apart was given in two consecutive days repeated for one more cycle with a interval of two weeks (Quad shot). Acute toxicities monitored at day 15 &30 and late at 3 & 6 months after the treatment started. Results: Octa shot had slightly better loco-regional control but the difference was statistically insignificant. Octa shot had more grade 2 skin and mucosal reaction than Quad shot. Symptomatic relief, subjective regression and improved QOL were better in Octa shot than Quad shot. Conclusion: The study concludes that “octa shot” is an effective palliative radiotherapy regime with greater yet manageable toxicity in comparison to Quad shot regimen. This regime not only strikes a balance between the economic burden, treatment time, machine load but also helps in selecting patients for further dose escalation based on treatment response and symptomatic relief. However more such trials with longer follow up and larger sample size are required for stronger evidences.

Objectives Biliary obstruction is a common problem encountered in postsurgical anatomy, which may lead to serious complications if not treated promptly. Endoscopic drainage is a minimally invasive and effective treatment option for such patients. However, the optimal route of endoscopic drainage, either SBE-ERCP (single-balloon enteroscopy with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) or EUS-BD (endoscopic ultrasound-guided bile duct drainage), remains controversial. In this study, we aim to evaluate the feasibility and outcomes of endoscopic drainage using these two techniques in postsurgical biliary obstruction over a period of 7 years.

Background: It is essential to investigate the prevalence of CYP2C19 alleles that affect drug metabolism. This study measures the allelic and genotypic frequencies of CYP2C19 loss-of-function (LoF) alleles CYP2C19∗2, CYP2C19∗3, and gain-of-function (GoF) alleles CYP2C19∗17 in the general population. Methodology: The study involved 300 healthy subjects between the ages of 18 and 85 recruited by simple random sampling. Allele-specific touchdown PCR was employed to identify the various alleles. The genotype and allele frequencies were calculated and checked for Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. The phenotypic prediction of ultra-rapid metabolizer (UM = ∗17/∗17), extensive metabolizer (EM = ∗1/∗17, ∗1/∗1), intermediate metabolizer (IM = ∗1/∗2, ∗1/∗3, ∗2/∗17) and poor metabolizer (PM = ∗2/∗2, ∗2/∗3, ∗3/∗3) was made based on their genotype. Results: The allele frequency of CYP2C19∗2, CYP2C19∗3, and CYP2C19∗17 was 0.365, 0.0033, and 0.18, respectively. The IM phenotype predominated with an overall frequency of 46.67%, including 101 subjects with ∗1/∗2, two subjects with ∗1/∗3, and 37 subjects with ∗2/∗17 genotype. This was followed by EM phenotype with an overall frequency of 35%, including 35 subjects with ∗1/∗17 and 70 subjects with ∗1/∗1 genotype. PM phenotype had an overall frequency of 12.67%, including 38 subjects with ∗2/∗2 genotype, and UM phenotype had an overall frequency of 5.67%, including 17 subjects with ∗17/∗17 genotype. Conclusion: Given the high allelic frequency of PM in the study population, a pre-treatment test to identify the individual's genotype may be recommended to decide the dosage, monitor the drug response, and avoid adverse drug reactions.

Abstract The partition functions of free bosons as well as fermions on AdS 2 are not smooth as a function of their masses. For free bosons, the partition function on AdS 2 is not smooth when the mass saturates the Breitenlohner-Freedman bound. We show that the expectation value of the scalar bilinear on AdS 2 exhibits a kink at the BF bound and the change in slope of the expectation value with respect to the mass is proportional to the inverse radius of AdS 2. For free fermions, when the mass vanishes the partition function exhibits a kink. We show that expectation value of the fermion bilinear is discontinuous and the jump in the expectation value is proportional to the inverse radius of AdS 2. We then show the supersymmetric actions of the chiral multiplet on AdS 2 × S 1 and the hypermultiplet on AdS 2 × S 2 demonstrate these features. The supersymmetric backgrounds are such that as the ratio of the radius of AdS 2 to S 1 or S 2 is dialled, the partition functions as well as expectation of bilinears are not smooth for each Kaluza-Klein mode on S 1 or S 2. Our observation is relevant for evaluating one-loop partition function in the near horizon geometry of extremal black holes.

Abstract Background Mastitis poses a major threat to dairy farms globally; it results in reduced milk production, increased treatment costs, untimely compromised genetic potential, animal deaths, and economic losses. Streptococcus agalactiae is a highly virulent bacteria that cause mastitis. The administration of antibiotics for the treatment of this infection is not advised due to concerns about the emergence of antibiotic resistance and potential adverse effects on human health. Thus, there is a critical need to identify new therapeutic approaches to combat mastitis. One promising target for the development of antibacterial therapies is the transmembrane histidine kinase of bacteria, which plays a key role in signal transduction pathways, secretion systems, virulence, and antibiotic resistance. Results In this study, we aimed to identify novel natural compounds that can inhibit transmembrane histidine kinase. To achieve this goal, we conducted a virtual screening of 224,205 natural compounds, selecting the top ten based on their lowest binding energy and favorable protein–ligand interactions. Furthermore, molecular docking of eight selected antibiotics and five histidine kinase inhibitors with transmembrane histidine kinase was performed to evaluate the binding energy with respect to top-screened natural compounds. We also analyzed the ADMET properties of these compounds to assess their drug-likeness. The top two compounds (ZINC000085569031 and ZINC000257435291) and top-screened antibiotics (Tetracycline) that demonstrated a strong binding affinity were subjected to molecular dynamics simulations (100 ns), free energy landscape, and binding free energy calculations using the MM-PBSA method. Conclusion Our results suggest that the selected natural compounds have the potential to serve as effective inhibitors of transmembrane histidine kinase and can be utilized for the development of novel antibacterial veterinary medicine for mastitis after further validation through clinical studies.

Abstract Oncogene Moesin plays critical role in initiation, progression, and metastasis of multiple cancers. It exerts oncogenic activity due to its high-level expression as well as posttranslational modification in cancer. However, factors responsible for its high-level expression remain elusive. In this study, we identified positive as well as negative regulators of Moesin. Our study reveals that Moesin is a cellular target of F-box protein FBXW2. We showed that FBXW2 suppresses breast cancer progression through directing proteasomal degradation of Moesin. In contrast, AKT kinase plays an important role in oncogenic function of Moesin by protecting it from FBXW2-mediated proteasomal degradation. Mechanistically, AKT phosphorylates Moesin at Thr-558 and thereby prevents its degradation by FBXW2 via weakening the association between FBXW2 and Moesin. Further, accumulated Moesin prevents FBXW2-mediated degradation of oncogene SKP2, showing that Moesin functions as an upstream regulator of oncogene SKP2. In turn, SKP2 stabilizes Moesin by directing its non-degradable form of polyubiquitination and therefore AKT-Moesin-SKP2 oncogenic axis plays crucial role in breast cancer progression. Collectively, our study reveals that FBXW2 functions as a tumor suppressor in breast cancer by restricting AKT-Moesin-SKP2 axis. Thus, AKT-Moesin-SKP2 axis may be explored for the development of therapeutics for cancer treatment.

Abstract This paper proposes a nature-inspired spider web-shaped ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) reader antenna and battery-free sensor-based system for healthcare applications. This antenna design consists of eight concentric decagons of various sizes and five straight microstrip lines.These lines are connected to the ground using 50 $$\Omega $$ Ω resistors from both ends, except for one microstrip line that is reserved for connecting a feeding port. The reader antenna design features fairly strong and uniform electric and magnetic field characteristics. It also exhibits wideband characteristics, covering whole UHF RFID band (860–960 MHz) and providing a tag reading volume of 200 $$\times $$ × 200 $$\times $$ × 20 mm $${^3}$$ 3 . Additionally, it has low gain characteristics, which are necessary for the majority of nearfield applications to prevent the misreading of other tags. Moreover, the current distribution in this design is symmetric throughout the structure, effectively resolving orientation sensitivity issues commonly encountered in low-cost linearly polarized tag antennas. The measurement results show that the reader antenna can read medicine pills tagged using low-cost passive/battery-free RFID tags, tagged expensive jewelry, intervenes solution, and blood bags positioned in various orientations. As a result, the proposed reader antenna-based system is a strong contender for near-field RFID, healthcare, and IoT applications.

Background: Sub-Acromial Impingement Syndrome (SAIS) spectrum ranges from acute inflammation to chronic degeneration of the bursa and of rotator cuff tendons in sub-acromial space. It may lead to a full-thickness tear of rotator cuff tendons and degenerative joint disease of the shoulder girdle leading to functional loss and disability if not treated early and adequately. This study aimed to determine the early functional outcome of arthroscopic sub-acromial decompression in chronic SAIS due to mechanical causes. Material and methods: This was a prospective cohort study. Patients were operated on arthroscopically for sub-acromial decompression between September 2018 and March 2020. Thirty-five patients with a range of 20 to 65 years of age diagnosed clinically with primary chronic sub-acromial impingement syndrome meeting the inclusion criteria were included in this study. All the patients under study were initially kept for at least four weeks of a course of conservative treatment and persisted in having symptoms were treated surgically with arthroscopic sub-acromial decompression. The UCLA (The University of California at Los Angeles) shoulder rating scale was used to assess shoulder function. The assessment was done in the pre-operative period, four weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks post arthroscopic sub-acromial decompression surgery. Results: Compared to pre-operative UCLA shoulder function score at the end of non-operative conservative treatment, the patients under study showed a statistically significant improvement at the end of the 16th week of post-arthroscopic subacromial decompression (p Conclusion: This study concludes that arthroscopic sub-acromial decompression provides a good functional outcome in patients having primary shoulder impingement due to extrinsic mechanical causes such as shape and slope of the acromion in the absence of significant (total or near total) rotator cuff tear after 16 weeks of follow-up.

Abstract Primary cutaneous Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma-leg type (PCDLBCL-LT) is a rare subtype of cutaneous lymphomas, with high frequency of extra-cutaneous relapse and poor prognosis. We report a case of 70-year-old lady who was diagnosed with PCDLBCL-LT on biopsy and underwent a baseline F-18 FDG PET/CT, followed by interim and post-treatment PET/CTs. With this case report, we highlight the findings of F-18 FDG PET/CT in the staging of this cutaneous lymphoma, and also emphasize on its role in the response assessment.

Abstract The Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) experiences severe air pollution every winter, with ammonium chloride and ammonium nitrate as the major inorganic fractions of fine aerosols. Many past attempts to tackle air pollution in the IGP were inadequate, as they targeted a subset of the primary pollutants in an environment where the majority of the particulate matter burden is secondary in nature. Here, we provide new mechanistic insight into aerosol mitigation by integrating the ISORROPIA-II thermodynamical model with high-resolution simultaneous measurements of precursor gases and aerosols. A mathematical framework is explored to investigate the complex interaction between hydrochloric acid (HCl), nitrogen oxides (NOx), ammonia (NH3), and aerosol liquid water content (ALWC). Aerosol acidity (pH) and ALWC emerge as governing factors that modulate the gas-to-particle phase partitioning and mass loading of fine aerosols. Six "sensitivity regimes" were defined, where PM1 and PM2.5 fall in the "HCl and HNO3 sensitive regime", emphasizing that HCl and HNO3 reductions would be the most effective pathway for aerosol mitigation in the IGP, which is ammonia-rich during winter. This study provides evidence that precursor abatement for aerosol mitigation should not be based on their descending mass concentrations but instead on their sensitivity to high aerosol loading.

Abstract Recent research on two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) has led to remarkable discoveries of fundamental phenomena and to device applications with technological potential. Large-scale TMDCs grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) are now available at continuously improving quality, but native defects and natural degradation in these materials still present significant challenges. Spectral hysteresis in gate-biased photoluminescence (PL) measurements of WSe2 further revealed long-term trapping issues of charge carriers in intrinsic defect states. To address these issues, we apply here a two-step treatment with organic molecules, demonstrating the “healing” of native defects in CVD-grown WSe2 and WS2 by substituting atomic sulfur into chalcogen vacancies. We uncover that the adsorption of thiols provides only partial defect passivation, even for high adsorption quality, and that thiol adsorption is fundamentally limited in eliminating charge traps. However, as soon as the molecular backbone is trimmed and atomic sulfur is released to the crystal, both bonds of the sulfur are recruited to passivate the divalent defect and the semiconductor quality improves drastically. Time-dependent X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) is applied here together with other methods for the characterization of defects, their healing, leading energies and occupation. First-principles calculations support a unified picture of the electronic passivation of sulfur-healed WSe2 and WS2. This work provides a simple and efficient method for improving the quality of 2D semiconductors and has the potential to impact device performance even after natural degradation.

Abstract Introduction The objective of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of MP-AzeFlu nasal spray in comparison to commercially available azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate sprays in Chinese patients with moderate-to-severe allergic rhinitis (AR). Methods We conducted a 14-day multicenter, randomized, double-blind, active controlled prospective clinical study in adult and adolescent patients with AR, who had moderate-to-severe symptoms. The primary efficacy endpoint was the change from baseline in combined 12-h reflective total nasal symptom score (rTNSS) (morning [AM] + afternoon [PM]). The safety profile of the study medications was assessed through the recording, reporting, and analysis of baseline medical conditions, adverse events (AEs), vital signs, and focused nasal examination. Three hundred patients per treatment group were randomized, which led to a total sample size estimation of 900 patients. Abstract Background Acute hyperglycemia is considered an independent prognosticator of both in-hospital and long-term outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This study aimed To analyze the incidence of acute hyperglycemia and its impact on the adverse in-hospital outcome in patients with STE-ACS undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods In this study, we enrolled patients presenting with STE-ACS and undergoing primary PCI at a tertiary care cardiac center. Acute hyperglycemia was defined as random plasma glucose (RBS) > 200 mg/dl at the time of presentation to the emergency room. Results Of the 4470 patients, 78.8% were males, and the mean age was 55.52 ± 11 years. In total, 39.4% (1759) were found to have acute hyperglycemia, and of these, 59% (1037) were already diagnosed with diabetes. The process in which response of soil influences the motion of foundation and vice-versa, is known as Soil-Foundation Interaction (SFI). This paper deals with the different types of soil-foundation interaction models useful for structural as well as geotechnical engineers and researchers for safe and economical raft design. The study offers a gist of all the models in literature and their applications. Several approaches for analysis which include analytical methods and numerical methods have been described here. Analytical models based on Winklerian and Continuum approach have been discussed. Moreover, modified forms of such approaches have also been discussed. In general, all the models make use of a parameter known as Modulus of Subgrade Reaction to model soil interaction. This parameter can be calculated either through experiments or empirical formulas. Different numerical methods have also been presented along with a few literatures. Further, some of the studies on raft foundation are also included.

Abstract Small‐cell lung cancer (SCLC) is the most lethal type of lung cancer. Specifically, MYC‐driven non‐neuroendocrine SCLC is particularly resistant to standard therapies. Lurbinectedin was recently approved for the treatment of relapsed SCLC, but combinatorial approaches are needed to increase the depth and duration of responses to lurbinectedin. Using high‐throughput screens, we found inhibitors of ataxia telangiectasia mutated and rad3 related (ATR) as the most effective agents for augmenting lurbinectedin efficacy. First‐in‐class ATR inhibitor berzosertib synergized with lurbinectedin in multiple SCLC cell lines, organoid, and in vivo models. Mechanistically, ATR inhibition abrogated S‐phase arrest induced by lurbinectedin and forced cell cycle progression causing mitotic catastrophe and cell death. High CDKN1A/p21 expression was associated with decreased synergy due to G1 arrest, while increased levels of ERCC5/XPG were predictive of increased combination efficacy. Importantly, MYC‐driven non‐neuroendocrine tumors which are resistant to first‐line therapies show reduced CDKN1A/p21 expression and increased ERCC5/XPG indicating they are primed for response to lurbinectedin–berzosertib combination. The combination is being assessed in a clinical trial NCT04802174.

Abstract Structural metallic materials with interfaces of immiscible materials provide opportunities to design and tailor the microstructures for desired mechanical behavior. Metallic microstructures with plasticity contributors of the FCC and BCC phases show significant promise for damage-tolerant applications due to their enhanced strengths and thermal stability. A fundamental understanding of the dynamic failure behavior is needed to design and tailor these microstructures with desired mechanical responses under extreme environments. This study uses molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to characterize plasticity contributors for various interface microstructures and the damage evolution behavior of FCC/BCC laminate microstructures. This study uses six model Cu/Ta interface systems with different orientation relationships that are as- created, and pre-deformed to understand the modifications in the plasticity contributions and the void nucleation/evolution behavior. The results suggest that pre-existing misfit dislocations and loading orientations (perpendicular to and parallel to the interface) affect the activation of primary and secondary slip systems. The dynamic strengths are observed to correlate with the energy of the interfaces, with the strengths being highest for low-energy interfaces and lowest for high-energy interfaces. However, the presence of pre-deformation of these interface microstructures affects not only the dynamic strength of the microstructures but also the correlation with interface energy.

Abstract Non-relativistic conformal field theory is significant to understand various aspects of an ultra-cold system. In this paper, we study a non-relativistic system of two-component fermions interacting with a complex boson with Yukawa-like interactions near d = 4-spatial dimensions in the presence of a quenched disorder. The homogeneous theory flows to an interacting fixed point describing a unitary fermion system. In the presence of the disorder, we find that the system has an interesting phase structure in the space of the coupling constants and exhibits an interacting disorder fixed point in ϵ-expansion. The correlation function obeys Lifshitz scaling behaviour at the disorder fixed point with the anisotropic exponent being z = 2 + γ E . We also study the disorder system at finite temperature and compute the leading contribution to the 1PI effective action.

Abstract The present investigation was conducted to assess the nutritional diverseness and identify novel genetic resources to be utilized in chickpea breeding for macro and micro nutrients. The plants were grown in randomized block design. Nutritional and phytochemical properties of nine chickpea genotypes were estimated. The EST sequences from NCBI database were downloaded in FASTA format, clustered into contigs using CAP3, mined for novel SSRs using TROLL analysis and primer pairs were designed using Primer 3 software. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine disorder affecting reproductive-aged women, characterized by clinical manifestations such as hyperandrogenism, menstrual irregularities, and polycystic ovaries. Despite its prevalence and impact on women's health, the pathogenesis of PCOS remains incompletely understood. This review provides a comprehensive critical appraisal of existing literature on PCOS pathogenesis, addressing knowledge gaps and highlighting its multifactorial nature. A systematic literature review identified relevant articles published up to the knowledge cutoff date in 2023, focusing on molecular, genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors contributing to PCOS pathogenesis. Electronic databases, including PubMed, MEDLINE, and Embase, were systematically searched using predefined terms. Eligible studies investigated molecular, genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors associated with PCOS pathogenesis. The critical appraisal revealed diverse studies enriching our understanding of PCOS. Molecular and genetic studies highlighted alterations in signaling pathways, hormonal dysregulation, and the role of insulin resistance. Environmental factors, including lifestyle and exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals, were implicated. Heterogeneity in study designs and methodologies underscored the need for standardized approaches to enhance comparability. This review synthesizes current evidence on PCOS critical appraisal and pathogenesis, emphasizing its multifaceted nature. Standardization of study designs and methodologies will facilitate future comparisons, enabling the development of targeted therapeutic interventions and personalized management strategies for women affected by PCOS.

Background Intercropping systems significantly influence chemical and biological properties of the soil. Our objective was to evaluate the effects of intercropping systems on soil organic carbon (SOC), total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN), available N, P and K, soil microbial biomass carbon (MBC) and microbial biomass nitrogen (MBN) under geranium (Pelargonium graveolens L.)-based intercropping systems. Results Geranium-based intercropping (with cereals, pulses, fodder, and vegetables) resulted in increase of SOC and TKN by 7.8â69.2 % and 10.7â92.8 %, respectively, over geranium alone. Similarly, microbial respiration was higher under geranium intercropped with oat (36.3 %) followed by wheat (30.5 %) and barley (12.5 %) as compared to that under geranium alone. Soil MBC accounted for 3.3â4.7 % of SOC content and soil MBN accounted for 3.1â3.5 % of TKN under different intercropping conditions. A higher CO2 evolution rate and a wider soil MBC/ MBN ratio were recorded with cereals and fodders. Conclusions It is concluded that the build-up of the organic matter and enhancement of soil MBC in the intercropping study should promote long-term stability of soil health.

Nutcracker phenomenon (NCP) typically refers to the entrapment of the left renal vein (LRV) between the aorta and the superior mesenteric artery. Similar to the classic NCP, the renal vein can also get entrapped between the segmental branches of the renal artery at the renal hilum, which has been referred to as ‘renal hilar nutcracker phenomenon (RHNP).’ During routine dissection of a male cadaver of 67 years, the renal veins of both sides at the renal hilum were seen between the segmental branches of renal arteries, which we identified as the ‘renal hilar nutcracker phenomenon.’ The disposition of the rest of the perihilar structures was normal. ‘Renal hilar nutcracker phenomenon’ can have similar clinical presentation like that of the nutcracker phenomenon. Hence, knowledge of such anatomical variation at the renal hilum is desirable.

Abstract This study introduces a new chemistry option in the Weather Research and Forecasting model data assimilation (WRFDA) system, coupled with the WRF‐Chem model (Version 4.4.1), to incorporate aqueous chemistry (AQCHEM) in the assimilation of ground‐level chemical measurements. The new DA capability includes the integration of aqueous‐phase aerosols from the Regional Atmospheric Chemistry Mechanism (RACM) gas chemistry, the Modal Aerosol Dynamics Model for Europe (MADE) aerosol chemistry, and the Volatility Basis Set (VBS) for secondary organic aerosol production. The RACM‐MADE‐VBS‐AQCHEM scheme facilitates aerosol‐cloud‐precipitation interactions by activating aerosol particles in cloud water during the model simulation. With the goal of enhancing air quality forecasting in cloudy conditions, this new implementation is demonstrated in the weakly coupled three‐dimensional variational data assimilation (3D‐Var) system through regional air quality cycling over East Asia. Surface particulate matter (PM) concentrations and four gas species (SO2, NO2, O3, and CO) are assimilated every 6 hr for the month of March 2019. The results show that including aqueous‐phase aerosols in both the analysis and forecast can represent aerosol wet removal processes associated with cloud development and rainfall production. During a pollution event with high cloud cover, simulations without aerosols defined in cloud water exhibit significantly higher values for liquid water path, and surface PM10 (PM2.5) concentrations are overestimated by a factor of 10 (3) when wet scavenging processes dominate. On the contrary, AQCHEM proves to be helpful in simulating the wet deposition of aerosols, accurately predicting the evolution of surface PM concentrations without such overestimation.

This work investigates the effect of varying the knitting structure and stitch length (SL) on various thermo-physiological and ergonomic comfort properties of the occupational graduated compression socks. Thermo-physiological comfort, ergonomic comfort and dimensional stability of theses stockings were analysed in a comparative manner. Obtained results were evaluated statistically using the technique of analysis of variance (ANOVA). A Fisher's multiple comparison test was commissioned to analyze the relationship between the alteration of stitch length (SL) on various utility functions and properties desired in the occupational compression socks. In order to examine whether the difference of stitch length is significant, p values were determined. Further the influence of knitting structures e.g., plain, 2 × 2 Rib and 1 × 3 Rib was analysed on the selected properties. The interactive effect of both stitch length (SL) and knitting structure was studied using statistical techniques. It was concluded that knitting structure has a stronger impact on thermo-physiological and ergonomic comfort properties. Results showed a significant variation in thermo-physiological and ergonomic comfort by altering stitch length by means of the statistical analysis. An innovative approach for the manufacturers has been developed for optimizing performance in compression stockings. The construction of the compression socks can thus be optimized in terms of constructional parameters to provide optimum comfort to the users.

Abstract Knowledge of the anatomical variations of the visceral branches of the abdominal aorta is important information for planning any surgeries in the region. We present here a rare constellation of variations of visceral vessels around the kidneys with a brief review of the recent literature. On the right side, an accessory renal artery was observed originating just distal to the main renal artery. The middle suprarenal artery was absent on the right side and there were two inferior suprarenal arteries originating from a branch of the main right renal artery. On the left side, the testicular artery had an arched course anterior to the left renal vein mimicking an unusual variety of nutcracker phenomenon. The right kidney was drained by two renal veins into the inferior vena cava. Knowledge of the coexistence of such complex anatomical variations might be helpful for clinicians during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Uranyl ammonium carbonate (AUC), with the chemical formula UO2CO3·2(NH4)2CO3, plays a crucial role in the wet conversion of uranium hexafluoride (UF6) into uranium dioxide (UO2) or triuranium octaoxide (U3O8) for nuclear fuel production, and is used in commercial and research reactors. In this study, the precipitation of AUC from uranyl fluoride (UO2F2) solution and its subsequent conversion into U3O8 powder were investigated. AUC precipitation was performed at uranium concentrations in UO2F2 solution of 80–120 gL-1, ammonium carbonate (NH4)2CO3 concentrations of 200–400 gL-1, and (NH4)2CO3 to U (C/U) ratios of 5–9. The conversion of AUC into U3O8 powder was studied and sintering of the U3O8 nuclear material derived from ammonium uranyl carbonate (ex-AUC U3O8) was conducted at temperatures of 1000–1800 °C. The kinetics of AUC precipitation from the UO2F2 solution were studied using fundamental kinetic equations, and the kinetics of AUC conversion into UO3 were examined using an isoconversion method based on the thermogravimetric analysis of AUC. The final product of U3O8 nuclear material was characterized using typical techniques, such as thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy. This study provides valuable insights into the production and characterization of AUC and U3O8 nuclear materials, which are key materials in the nuclear fuel industry.

Biomedical image analysis plays a crucial role in enabling high-performing imaging and various clinical applications. For the proper diagnosis of blood diseases related to red blood cells, red blood cells must be accurately identified and categorized. Manual analysis is time-consuming and prone to mistakes. Analyzing multi-label samples, which contain clusters of cells, is challenging due to difficulties in separating individual cells, such as touching or overlapping cells. High-performance biomedical imaging and several medical applications are made possible by advanced biosensors. We develop an intelligent neural network model that can automatically identify and categorize red blood cells from microscopic medical images using region-based convolutional neural networks (RCNN) and cutting-edge biosensors. Our model successfully navigates obstacles like touching or overlapping cells and accurately recognizes various blood structures. Additionally, we utilized data augmentation as a pre-processing method on microscopic images to enhance the model's computational efficiency and expand the sample size. To refine the data and eliminate noise from the dataset, we utilized the Radial Gradient Index filtering algorithm for imaging data equalization. We exhibit improved detection accuracy and a reduced model loss rate when using medical imagery datasets to apply our proposed model in comparison to existing ResNet and GoogleNet models. Our model precisely detected red blood cells in a collection of medical images with 99% training accuracy and 91.21% testing accuracy. Our proposed model outperformed earlier models like ResNet-50 and GoogleNet by 10-15%. Our results demonstrated that Artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted automated red blood cell detection has the potential to revolutionize and speed up blood cell analysis, minimizing human error and enabling early illness diagnosis.

IntroductionThe COVID-19 pandemic has led to physical and psychological complications and social consequences in the form of illness-related stigma. Background This study assessed the quality of life (QOL) of elderly head and neck cancer patients before and after curative radiotherapy.

Summary: Background: Early behavioural risk factors such as unbalanced diets, physical inactivity and tobacco and alcohol consumption lead to chronic diseases in later life. We conducted a cluster-randomised controlled trial to measure the effect of a school-based health-promotion intervention in reducing the behavioural risk factors of chronic diseases. Methods: Twelve public schools in the Chandigarh, India were randomised to the intervention and control arm. Adolescents studying in eighth grade (n = 453), their parents (n = 395) and teachers (n = 94) were recruited for the current study. The Precede-Proceed Model was followed for intervention development. Intervention in each cluster comprised of one classroom session, four physical activity (PA) sessions every week for adolescents and four separate sessions for parents and teachers. Primary outcomes were eight binary or continuous measures of behavioural risk factors among adolescents (n = 359). Physical Activity Questionnaire-Adolescents (PAQ-A) scores were used to estimate physical activity. The ANCOVA based on cluster proportions or means was used to estimate the intervention effect accounting for baseline data. Findings: Among adolescents, the intervention reduced salt intake by 0.5 g/d (95% CI: −0.9, −0.1), proportion of current alcohol users by 5% (95% CI: −9, −0.007), and increased fruit consumption by 18 g/d (95% CI: 5, 30) and PA by 0.2 PAQ-A score (95% CI: 0.07, 0.3). However, the intervention had no effect on the sugar and vegetable intake and on smokers and tobacco chewers. Exploratory analysis revealed that among parents, PA increased by 205 metabolic equivalents task (MET) units (95% CI: 74.5, 336), fruits intake by 20 g/d (95% CI: 6, 34), and vegetable intake by 117 g/d (95% CI: 50.5, 183). Whereas salt consumption decreased by 0.5 g/d (95% CI: 0.15, 0.9) and the proportion of current alcohol users declined by 5% (95% CI: 9, −1) among parents. Vegetable consumption increased by 149 g/d (95% CI: 12, 286) among teachers. Interpretation: The intervention package implemented among adolescents by involving parents and teachers is an effective model for school-based behaviour-change interventions. In this letter we discuss how the results of recent nuclear experiments that correspond to measurements at low densities can affect the equation of state at large densities 4: and temperatures, changing the particle composition and ultimately influencing deconfinement to quark matter. In particular, saturation values of the hyperon potentials affect the hyperon content, while the symmetry energy at saturation directly regulates how the stiffness of the equation of state changes with isospin. We make use of a chiral model that describes nucleons, hyperons, and quarks to show how astrophysical conditions, such as the ones in neutron stars, present the ideal ground to study the effects of these two quantities in dense matter. In this case, for small charge fraction/large isospin asymmetry, the couplings that reproduce different symmetry energy slopes can significantly modify deconfinement, with quantitative changes in the critical chemical potential depending on the deconfining potential. On the other hand, different values of the parameter that controls the hyperon potentials 7: (kept within a range close to experimental data) do not affect deconfinement significantly.

Background: The present comprehensive protocol is focused on the detection of pathogenic enteric RNA viruses, explicitly focusing on norovirus genogroup Ⅱ (GⅡ), astrovirus, rotavirus, Aichi virus, sapovirus, hepatitis A and E viruses in wastewater treatment plants through droplet digital PCR (ddPCR). Enteric viruses are of significant public health concern, as they are the leading cause of diseases like gastroenteritis. Regular monitoring of environmental samples, particularly from wastewater treatment plants, is crucial for early detection and control of these viruses. This research aims to improve the understanding of the prevalence and dynamics of enteric viruses in urban India and will serve as a model for similar studies in other regions. Our protocol's objective is to establish a novel ddPCR-based methodology for the detection and molecular characterization of enteric viruses present in wastewater samples sourced from Bhopal, India. Our assay is capable of accurately quantifying virus concentrations without standard curves, minimizing extensive optimization, and enhancing sensitivity and precision, especially for low-abundance targets. Methods: The study involves fortnightly collecting and analyzing samples from nine wastewater treatment plants over two years, ensuring comprehensive coverage and consistent data. Our study innovatively applies ddPCR to simultaneously detect and quantify enteric viruses in wastewater, a more advanced technique. Additionally, we will employ next-generation sequencing for detailed viral genome identification in samples tested positive for pathogenic viruses. Conclusion: This study will aid in understanding these viruses’ genetic diversity and mutation rates, which is crucial for developing tailored intervention strategies. The findings will be instrumental in shaping public health responses and improving epidemiological surveillance, especially in localities heaving sewage networks.
