Some theorems of existence of weak solutions are obtained for p -Laplacian equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions by using a critical point theorem.

We calculate the ionization potential and electron affinity of 1D Hubbard chains with a variety of different site energies from two perspectives: (i) the physics-based GW approximation and (ii) the chemistry-based configuration interaction (CI) approach. Results obtained from all methods are compared against the exact values for three classes of systems: metallic, impurity doped, and molecular (semiconducting/insulating) systems. Although all methods are reasonably accurate for weakly correlated systems, the GW method is significantly more reliable for strongly correlated systems with little disorder unless explicit double excitations are included in the CI. In principle, our results should offer some intuition about the choice of methodologies as well as state references for different classes of physical systems.

To study the inhibitory effect of Yiqi Chutan Recipe on the transplanted tumor through endoplasmic reticulum UPR-mediated approach.40 lung cancer A549 cells models transplanted in nude mice were established. On the 7th day of inoculation, mice were randomly divided into model group( saline group) , Cisplatin group (0.002 g/kg), Yiqi Chutan Recipe low dose group (3.0 g/kg), Yiqi Chutan Recipe high dose group(6. 0 g/kg)and Yiqi Chutan Recipe (3.0 g/kg)with Cisplatin group (0.002 g/kg). Each aforementioned group had eight mice. Mice were treated by Yiqi Chutan Recipe to gavage one time a day, for 21 days, and by Cisplatin Injection to intraperitoneal injection one time a day, for 7 days. On the 22th day, all mice were executed to death. Then each tumor's weight and volume were measured, and the expression of Caspase-4 and DNA-PK protein were detected through immunohistochemical method and Western blot method.Compared with model group, the tumors' volume and weight of Yiqi Chutan Recipe high dose group and Yiqi Chutan Recipe with Cisplatin group were decreased, but the expressions of Caspase-4 and DNA-PK protein in tumors were increased (P0.01). Yiqi Chutan Recipe with Cisplatin Group had the better effect (P0.05).Yiqi Chutan Recipe has a certain inhibitory effect on A549 lung cancer in mice and its possible mechanism is relevant to the increase of expression of Caspase-4 and DNA-PK protein.

The existence of three nontrivial solutions for a class of superlinear elliptic equations is obtained by using variational theorems of mixed type due to Marino and Saccon and Linking Theorem.

Sheath blight of rice, caused by Rhizoctonia solani AG1.1a, has become the most important disease and caused serious yield losses in some major rice-growing regions in China in recent years. In the present study, field plot experiment was conducted to examine the relationships between disease intensity and inoculum density (ID), the seasonal disease epidemic dynamics, and yield reductions due to disease damages. Results from the experiment demonstrated that the areas under progress curves of disease severity and those of percent rice tillers diseased were positively and closely related to the relative initial ID of the pathogen. The inoculum density-disease (IDD) relationships were simulated and the impractical linear models were obtained. Both logistic and Gompertz functions could be used to simulate the disease progress dynamics in time, but the progress curves of the disease severity were modeled better by the Gompertz than by logistic function. However, the Richards function was found to be the best in simulating the disease progress curves when a most appropriate value was chosen for the shape parameter m by using the computer software Epitimulator®. Sheath blight infection decreased rice yield very significantly and a yield reduction of 40% was recorded in rice crop with the highest inoculum density. Rice yield was linearly and negatively correlated with the disease severity and the percent tillers affected. The simulated models for all these relationships were computed through executing Epitimulator® software and were presented in this paper.

Existence of weak solutions for a class of nonlinear elliptic systems is obtained under the certain Landesman-Lazer-type conditions by variational method.

We present a complete derivation of derivative couplings between excited states in the framework of adiabatic time-dependent density functional response theory. Explicit working equations are given and the resulting derivative couplings are compared with derivative couplings from a pseudo-wavefunction ansatz. For degenerate excited states, i.e., close to a conical intersection (CI), the two approaches are identical apart from an antisymmetric overlap term. However, if the difference between two excitation energies equals another excitation energy, the couplings from response theory exhibit an unphysical divergence. This spurious behavior is a result of the adiabatic or static kernel approximation of time-dependent density functional theory leading to an incorrect analytical structure of the quadratic response function. Numerical examples for couplings close to a CI and for well-separated electronic states are given.

A novel amphiphilic chitosan derivative, acryloyl chitosan (AcCs), was synthesized by a homogeneous reaction of chitosan and acryloyl chloride using methanesulfonic acid as solvent and catalyst. The concentrated solutions of AcCs/acrylic acid were investigated by polarized optical microscopy (POM) and found demonstrate cholesteric mesophase above the critical concentration of 45 wt%. AcCs/polyacrylic acid (PAA) composite films were prepared via the photopolymerization of 52 wt% AcCs/acrylic acid solution, and subsequently the permanganic etching technique was employed to expose the textures and defects inside the composite films. The Grandjean planar textures were observed by POM, but a series of dark and bright striation lines, which were attributed to the periodic structure of the cholesteric helix, were detected by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The disclination pairs, τ − λ + and τ + λ − , were found, however λ + λ − and τ + τ − were absent. Effect of etching time on morphology of AcCs/PAA composite films was also investigated, comparing with 30 wt% free-acetyl chitosan (CS)/PAA composite films. The results showed that AcCs/PAA composite films had better anticorrosion ability than (CS)/PAA composite films, due to the crosslinking network between AcCs and PAA. FTIR confirmed that double bonds of AcCs involved in photo-solidification. Therefore the system studied takes the advantage of easy controlling for permanganic etching.

The relationship between two-dimensional radiant image and three-dimensional radiant energy in blast furnace raceway was studied by numerical simulation of combustion process. Taking radiant image as radiant boundary for numerical simulation of combustion process, the uneven radiation parameter can be calculated. A method to examine three-dimensional temperature distribution in blast furnace raceway was put forward by radiant image processing. The numeral temperature field matching the real combustion can be obtained by proposed numeric image processing technique.

Some existence theorems are obtained for periodic and subharmonic solutions of a class of superquadratic Hamiltonian systems by the minimax methods in critical point theory, specially, a local link theorem due to Li and Willem, and the Generalized Mountain Pass Theorem respectively.

We construct a state in the loop quantum gravity theory with zero cosmological constant, which should correspond to the flat spacetime vacuum solution. This is done by defining the loop transform coefficients of a flat connection wavefunction in the holomorphic representation which satisfies all the constraints of quantum General Relativity and it is peaked around the flat space triads. The loop transform coefficients are defined as spin foam state sum invariants of the spin networks embedded in the spatial manifold for the SU(2) quantum group. We also obtain an expression for the vacuum wavefunction in the triad represntation, by defining the corresponding spin networks functional integrals as SU(2) quantum group state sums.

An existence theorem of homoclinic solution is obtained for a class of the nonautonomous second order Hamiltonian systems u (t)−L(t)u(t)+∇W(t,u(t))=0 , ∀t∈R, by the minimax methods in the critical point theory, specially, the generalized mountain pass theorem, where L(t) is unnecessary uniformly positively definite for all t∈R, and W(t,x) satisfies the superquadratic condition W(t,x)/|x|2→+∞ as |x|→∞ uniformly in t, and need not satisfy the global Ambrosetti–Rabinowitz condition.

In this paper, we present a formalism for derivative couplings between time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) excited states within the random- phase approximation (RPA) using analytic gradient theory. Our formalism is based on a pseudo-wavefunction approach in a companion paper (DOI 10.1021/jp505767b), and can be checked against finite-difference overlaps. Our approach recovers the correct properties of derivative couplings around a conical intersection (CI), which is a crucial prerequisite for any derivative coupling expression. As an example, we study the test case of protonated formaldimine (CH2NH2 + ).

The aim of the study was to assess the 90-day prognostic value of copeptin in a group of Chinese patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). In this study, all consecutive patients with first-ever ICH from 2010 to 2012 were recruited to participate in the study. On admission, plasma copeptin levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and Hemphill ICH scores were assessed on admission blinded to plasma copeptin levels. For the assessment of functional outcome at 90 days, Modified Rankin Scale was used. During the study period, 271 patients were diagnosed as ICH and were included in the analysis. The median GCS score on admission was 11 points. Patients with an unfavorable outcomes and non-survivors had significantly increased plasma copeptin levels on admission (P < 0.001 for both). Copeptin was an independent prognostic marker of functional outcome and death [odds ratio 3.45 (95 % confidence intervals: 1.85–6.99) and 3.66 (2.42–8.28), respectively, P < 0.001 for both, adjusted for age, the hematoma volume and other predictors] in patients with ICH. In receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, copeptin could improve the Hemphill score in predicting 90-day functional outcome [area under the curve (AUC) of the combined model, 0.83; 95 % CI 0.74–0.90; P < 0.001] and mortality (AUC of the combined model, 0.88; 95 % CI 0.82–0.93; P < 0.001). In conclusion, our study suggests that copeptin levels are a useful tool to predict unfavorable functional outcome and mortality 90 days after ICH and have a potential to assist clinicians.

To explore the clinical application of high-frequency ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of epididymal stasis after vasectomy.We retrospectively studied the sonographic characteristics of 23 cases of epididymal stasis treated by vasectomy, which were divided into a mild (n = 5), a moderate (n = 11) and a severe group (n = 7) according to the results of color Doppler flow imaging. We analyzed the significance of high-frequency ultrasonography in the treatment of epididymal stasis after vasectomy.High-frequency ultrasonography revealed 14 cases of increased bilateral epididymal volume, 6 cases of left epididymal thickening and 3 cases of right epididymal thickening, mainly the thickening of the epididymal body and tail. After conservative treatment, 18 of the epididymal stasis cases (5 mild, 11 moderate and 2 severe) were improved, and the other 5 severe cases significantly relieved and discharged from hospital following conservative treatment combined with vasectomy reversal.Post-vasectomy epididymal stasis has typical sonographic characteristics, and high-frequency ultrasonography has an extremely important application value in the clinical classification, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

Using the Fountain theorem and a version of the Local Linking theorem, we obtain some existence and multiplicity results for a class of fourth-order elliptic equations.

In the title compound, C20H13ClN2O2S, the chlorophenyl, phenyl and thienoyl rings are oriented at dihedral angles 17.84 (7), 53.13 (8) and 34.03 (8)°, respectively, to the central pyrazole ring. An intramolecular O—H...O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, pairs of bifurcated O—H...O hydrogen bonds link molecules into inversion dimers with R 2 2(12) graph-set motifs.

Lipoxygenases are non-heme iron-containing dioxygenases that are widely distributed in plants. Construction of cDNA Library and cloning of wild soybean seed lipoxygenase gene LOX, the structural characteristics of the gene expression and enzyme characteristics were analyzed. Bioinformatics analysis showed that the N-terminal contains about 60 additional amino acids of LOX, LOX may have activity. Lox and soybean gene with the highest cDNA sequences (about 79%), Phaseolus vulgaris, Arachis hypogaea, Glycine max, Solanum tuberosum, Solanum tuberosum, Solanum tuberosum, Prunus dulcis Miller., Prunus armeniaca, Prunus armeniaca, Pyrus pyrifolia, Persea americana, Arabidopsis thaliana, Adelostemma gracillimum the cDNA sequences were 76,76,79,77,71,70,70,71,69,70,69,67,67 and 70%, respectively.

13 lines including 9 wheat mutants of genetic transformation by ion beam and 4 acceptor control varieties were analyzed by SSR marker. A special band of dwarf mutant line 1042 was obtained, sequenced and analyzed by blast software. The genetic distance was analyzed with SSR marker materials by SAS software. The result showed that 9 wheat mutants were clustered together with their own acceptor control varieties respectively. These suggested that the variance of mutants of genetic transformation mediated by ion beam was smaller than genetic variance among different varieties. The result aligned by blast software showed that the special sequence of dwarf mutant line 1042 was a part of the Rht-D1a gene. These suggested that the reason of declining the height of 1042 mutant line was Rht-D1a mutant.

To describe the discovery of a residual foci of bancroftian filariasis in Fuchuan County where the disease was announced to have been eliminated, and reveal its epidemiologic feature.The investigation was carried out from August 2007 to March 2008 among residents in Changtang village where the first case of filariasis was found and the neighboring villages. They were screened with two thick blood smears. Immunochromatographic technology (ICT) was conducted for those going out but returned and those in surrounding areas. Vector mosquitoes were collected and dissected to find filaria larvae. Historical documents were reviewed and relevant people were interviewed.In Changtang administrative village, 1052 residents were screened and 19 cases with microfilaremia were found in 2 natural villages, with a Mf-positive rate of 1.8% (5.1% in Gangshang and 1.4% in Yinshan respectively). No Mf-positive case was found in 4119 residents screened in other 3 villages. The average microfilaria density in the 19 cases was 17.37/60 +/- 1 blood. All the 19 cases belonged to 12 families, and 13 cases were relatives to each other, which showed a feature of spatial clustering and family clustering. More patients were identified in the age groups of 20-29 and 50-59, and 57.9% of them were older than 50 years. No larvae were found in 54 Culex pipiens fatigans dissected.The Changtang village is identified as a residual focus of bancroftian filariasis with a low, limited endemicity. More cases have been among the elderly with a low average microfilaremia.

To investigate the plasma calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and endothelin (ET) levels and the effects of nitroglycerin on CGRP and ET in congestive heart failure (CHF), and to make clear the mechanism of nitroglycerin in vasodilation and cardiac protection.The fast blood samples were taken from the peripheral vein of 40 volunteers and 40 CHF patients to estimate the basal level of CGRP and ET. Infusion of nitroglycerin of 25 to 50 micrograms/min started in the forearm vein of CHF patients. Blood samples were taken at the end of the 1 hour infusion and (12 +/- 2) days of nitroglycerin treatment. Plasma concentrations of CGRP and ET were measured by radioimmunoassay.In patients with CHF before the treatment, the plasma concentration of CGRP was significantly lower than that in the controls (P0.001), but the concentration of ET significantly higher than that in the controls (P0.001). During the nitroglycerin treatment, the plasma concentration of CGRP significantly increased (P0.001), whereas the concentration of ET significantly decreased (P0.01). The mean arterial pressure significantly decreased (P0.001).Nitroglycerin can increase the peripheral plasma CGRP level and decrease the concentration of ET when treating CHF. Intravenous nitroglycerin may be beneficial to the improvement of abnormal haemodynamics and neurohormonal derangement.

Working within the Tamm-Dancoff approximation, we calculate the derivative couplings between time-dependent density-functional theory excited states by assuming that the Kohn-Sham superposition of singly excited determinants represents a true electronic wavefunction. All Pulay terms are included in our derivative coupling expression. The reasonability of our approach can be established by noting that, for closely separated electronic states in the infinite basis limit, our final expres- sion agrees exactly with the Chernyak-Mukamel expression (with transition densities from response theory). Finally, we also validate our approach empirically by analyzing the behavior of the derivative couplings around the T1/T2 conical intersection of benzaldehyde.
