Abstract

The measurements of the Collins and Sivers asymmetries of identified hadrons produced in deep-inelastic scattering of 160 GeV/c muons on a transversely polarised 6LiD target at COMPASS are presented. The results for charged pions and charged and neutral kaons correspond to all data available, which were collected from 2002 to 2004. For all final state particles both the Collins and Sivers asymmetries turn out to be small, compatible with zero within the statistical errors, in line with the previously published results for not identified charged hadrons, and with the expected cancellation between the u- and d-quark contributions., Comment: 16 pages, 9 figures, added author Efremov, calculated pure kaon asymmetries instead of those for experimental kaon/pion mixture (mainly error affected)

Abstract

The branching fraction for the decay $K^{-} \to \pi^{0} e \bar \nu$ is measured using in-flight decays detected with {\bf ISTRA+} setup working at the 25 GeV negative secondary beam of the U-70 PS:\linebreak $Br_{K_{e3}}= (5.124 \pm 0.009 (stat) \pm 0.029(norm) \pm 0.030(syst))%$. From this value the $|V_{us}|$ element of the CKM matrix is extracted, using previously measured $f_{+}(t)$ form factor: $|V_{us}|=0.227 \pm 0.002$. The results are in agreement with recent measurements by BNL E865, FNAL KTeV, KLOE., Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures

Abstract

The branching ratio in the charged-pion kinetic energy region of 55 to 90 MeV for the direct photon emission in the K- --> pi- pi0 gamma decay has been measured using in-flight decays detected with the ISTRA+ setup operating in the 25 GeV/c negative secondary beam of the U-70 PS. The value Br(DE)=[0.37+-0.39(stat)+-0.10(syst)]*10^(-5) obtained from the analysis of 930 completely reconstructed events is consistent with the average value of two stopped-kaon experiments, but it differs by 2.5 standard deviations from the average value of three in-flight-kaon experiments. Abstract

The decay K- -> pi0 e- nu is studied using in-flight decays detected with the ISTRA+ spectrometer. About 920K events are collected for the analysis. The lambda+ slope parameter of the decay form-factor f+(t) in the linear approximation (average slope) is measured: lambda+(lin)= 0.02774 +- 0.00047(stat) +- 0.00032(syst). The quadratic contribution to the form-factor was estimated to be lambda'+ = 0.00084 +- 0.00027(stat) +- 0.00031(syst). The linear slope, which has a meaning of df+(t)/dt|_{t=0} for this fit, is lambda+ = 0.02324 +- 0.00152(stat) +- 0.00032(syst). The limits on possible tensor and scalar couplings are derived: f_{T}/f_{+}(0)=-0.012 +- 0.021(stat) +- 0.011$(syst), f_{S}/f_{+}(0)=-0.0037^{+0.0066}_{-0.0056}(stat) +- 0.0041(syst)., Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures. Abstract

A search for the light pseudoscalar sgoldstino production in the three body K- decay K-->pipi0P has been performed with the ISTRA+ detector exposed to the 25 GeV negative secondary beam of the U70 proton synchrotron. No signal is seen. An upper limit for the branching ratio Br(K->pipi0P), at 90% confidence level, is found to be around 9*10**-6 in the effective mass m(P) range from 0 till 200 MeV, excluding the region near m(pi0) where it degrades to 3.5*10**-5., Comment: 10 pages, LATEX, 8 EPS figures, revised version, to be published in Phys.Lett.B

Abstract

The Dalitz plot slope parameters g, h and k for the K- -> pi0 pi0 pi- decay have been measured using in-flight decays detected with the ISTRA+ setup operating in the 25 GeV negative secondary beam of the U-70 PS. About 252 K events with four-momenta measured for the pi- and four involved photons were used for the analysis. Abstract

Prototypes of gas sensors with sensitive elements are made based on ZIF-8 and ZIF-67 films obtained directly on a substrate by immersion. The sensitivity of the prototypes to NO2and CO is assessed by simultaneously analyzing the capacitive and resistive response. It is shown that the functionalization of ZIF-8 films with layers of ZIF-67/ZIF-8 leads to an increase in the sensitivity of the sensor to NO2by more than 2 times compared to ZIF-8 films, and also allows CO detection. A sensor prototype based on ZIF-67/ZIF-8 films shows a resistive and capacitive sensitivity to NO2of 3 and 6% (for 45 ppm), 14 and 15% (for 85 ppm), and to CO of 9 and 7% (for 6 ppm), 15 and 10% (for 10 ppm). It is shown that parallel analysis of the capacitive and resistive response makes it possible to increase the accuracy of the analysis of the sensor response when exposed to various gases and can be used as the basis for a software interface for training sensor operation using artificial intelligence.

Abstract

The article presents the results of the development of technology for isolating essential oil from the buds of Populus balsamifera L. and a medicinal substance based on it. For the first time, a technology has been developed for the quantitative isolation of essential oil from the buds of Populus balsamifera L. by the barothermal method at a temperature of 140 °C, under a vacuum of 1333-2000 Pa. The main components of the essential oil of Populus balsamifera L. buds, isolated by the barothermal method, were determined to be α-bisabolol, β-eudesmol, and 2-phenylethyl-2-methylbutanoate. A technological scheme for the production of essential oil substance from Populus balsamifera L. buds has been developed, including 2 stages of the main technological process and 2 stages of auxiliary work, and its pilot industrial regulations. The control points during the isolation and preparative production of the essential oil substance from the Populus balsamifera L. buds are the major components α-bisabolol and β-eudesmol. The main critical points in the production of a substance based on the essential oil of Populus balsamifera L. buds are pressure, temperature, and duration of isolation. The stages of production of the substance are controlled using a standard sample of α-bisabolol (1). A quantitative determination of 108 components of essential oil from Populus balsamifera L. buds was carried out, as well as standardization for organoleptic properties and major components. A comparative analysis of essential oil from Populus balsamifera L. buds collected in the vicinity of Karaganda and the North Kazakhstan region was carried out. A substance based on essential oil from Populus balsamifera L. buds has antimicrobial, wound-healing, and antitumor activities with relatively low toxicity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
