Il est reconnu dans la Convention relative aux droits des personnes handicapées de l’ONU que le rôle de l’État est essentiel à la mise en place des conditions propices à l’exercice des droits humains par les personnes ayant des incapacités. Parmi ces conditions se trouvent les modalités de soutien aux personnes ayant des incapacités. Développés selon des configurations sociales bien souvent façonnés par les luttes du mouvement de défense des droits, ces services visent à soutenir ces personnes ayant des incapacités dans leur participation aux activités ordinaires. Leur développement a été caractérisé par un ensemble de phénomènes qui ramène tantôt à la question du rôle de l’État, tantôt à celui de la société civile, notamment des acteurs collectifs comme le mouvement de vie autonome des personnes ayant des incapacités. L’une des dimensions importantes de ce mouvement est précisément reliée au développement de services visant à soutenir l’exercice des droits humains dans une perspective axée sur l’empowerment. Dans le cadre du projet DRPI-Canada, la documentation de l’exercice des droits à partir des expériences personnelles a permis de regarder ce domaine vital d’intervention d’un regard neuf et novateur. Il est novateur dans la mesure où il permet de faire le lien avec le cadre législatif, légal et politique définissant les paramètres de ce domaine. L’objet de cet article est de réaliser, dans un premier temps, une analyse comparative de la situation relative aux services de soutien à domicile à Toronto et à Québec à partir des expériences des personnes ayant des incapacités et, dans un deuxième temps, de procéder à une mise en contexte des modalités de fonctionnement différenciées de ces services. En plus de situer des pratiques sociales différentes selon les contextes, cette analyse permettra de les réinscrire au sein du processus de développement historique du mouvement en faveur de l’exercice des droits des personnes ayant des incapacités., The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the United Nations assigns an essential role to governments in setting up conditions conductive to the exercise of human rights by persons with disabilities. Chief among these conditions, and now an obligation of States under the Convention, is the provision of support services to people with disabilities. Historically, the development of support services has been characterized by a set of complex interactions involving in various degrees the role of the State and that of civil society actors such as the collective movement of independent living of persons with disabilities. Indeed, one important dimension of this movement is specifically linked to the development of services to support the exercise of human rights from a perspective of empowerment. Under the project DRPI-Canada, the data collected on the exercise of rights based on personal experiences allowed us to look at this area in a fresh and innovative manner. It is innovative in that it allows to link personal stories with the legislative, legal and politic framework defining the parameters of this area. The purpose of this paper is thus two fold. First, we will undertake a comparative analysis of the situation relating to support services at home in Toronto and Quebec grounded in the experiences of people with disabilities in both sites. Next we will place these stories in context - by exploring the mode of operation of these differentiated services. In addition to putting into perspective social practices within different contexts, this analysis will allow us to re-enroll these practices in the process of historical development of the rights movement of persons with disabilities.

Objective: To analyze the relationship between one-minute sit-to-stand test (1MSTST) parameters and a diagnosis of post COVID-19 condition in a cohort of patients who previously had COVID-19. Methods: This was a prospective cohort study of patients with post COVID-19 condition referred for body plethysmography at a tertiary university hospital. Post COVID-19 condition was defined in accordance with the current WHO criteria. Results: Fifty-three patients were analyzed. Of those, 25 (47.2%) met the clinical criteria for post COVID-19 condition. HR was lower in the patients with post COVID-19 condition than in those without it at 30 s after initiation of the 1MSTST (86.2 ± 14.3 bpm vs. 101.2 ± 14.7 bpm; p < 0.001) and at the end of the test (94.4 ± 18.2 bpm vs. 117.3 ± 15.3 bpm; p < 0.001). The ratio between HR at the end of the 1MSTST and age-predicted maximal HR (HRend/HRmax) was lower in the group of patients with post COVID-19 condition (p < 0.001). An HRend/HRmax of < 62.65% showed a sensitivity of 78.6% and a specificity of 82.0% for post COVID-19 condition. Mean SpO2 at the end of the 1MSTST was lower in the patients with post COVID-19 condition than in those without it (94.9 ± 3.6% vs. 96.8 ± 2.4%; p = 0.030). The former group of patients did fewer repetitions on the 1MSTST than did the latter (p = 0.020). Conclusions: Lower SpO2 and HR at the end of the 1MSTST, as well as lower HR at 30 s after initiation of the test, were associated with post COVID-19 condition. In the appropriate clinical setting, an HRend/HRmax of < 62.65% should raise awareness for the possibility of post COVID-19 condition. RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar a relação entre parâmetros do teste de se sentar e levantar durante um minuto (TSL1) e o diagnóstico de síndrome pós-COVID-19 em uma coorte de pacientes que anteriormente apresentaram COVID-19. Métodos: Estudo prospectivo de coorte de pacientes com síndrome pós-COVID-19 encaminhados para realizar pletismografia corporal em um hospital universitário terciário. A síndrome pós-COVID-19 foi definida conforme os critérios atuais da OMS. Resultados: Foram analisados 53 pacientes. Destes, 25 (47,2%) preencheram os critérios clínicos de síndrome pós-COVID-19. A FC foi menor nos pacientes com síndrome pós-COVID-19 do que naqueles sem a síndrome 30 s após o início do TSL1 (86,2 ± 14,3 bpm vs. 101,2 ± 14,7 bpm; p < 0,001) e no fim do teste (94,4 ± 18,2 bpm vs. 117,3 ± 15,3 bpm; p < 0,001). A relação entre a FC no fim do TSL1 e a FC máxima prevista para a idade (FCfim/FCmáx) foi menor nos pacientes com síndrome pós-COVID-19 (p < 0,001). A relação FCfim/FCmáx < 62,65% apresentou sensibilidade de 78,6% e especificidade de 82,0% para síndrome pós-COVID-19. A média da SpO2 no fim do TSL1 foi menor nos pacientes com síndrome pós-COVID-19 do que naqueles sem a síndrome (94,9 ± 3,6% vs. 96,8 ± 2,4%; p = 0,030). Os pacientes com síndrome pós-COVID-19 realizaram menos repetições durante o TSL1 do que os sem a síndrome (p = 0,020). Conclusões: SpO2 e FC mais baixas no fim do TSL1 e FC mais baixa 30 s após o início do teste apresentaram relação com síndrome pós-COVID-19. No contexto clínico apropriado, a relação FCfim/FCmáx < 62,65% deve alertar para a possibilidade de síndrome pós-COVID-19.

In this work, iron ore tailing (IOT) was used for the production of two different materials: sodium silicate and geopolymers. Initially, reactions of IOT with NaOH were carried out by hydrothermal reaction in autoclave at 200 °C (1:1.5 and 1:2.5 SiO2:NaOH molar ratio) and reaction times of 4 and 8 h. X-ray fluorescence by dispersive energy (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Mössbauer spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDS) and titrations showed that IOT:NaOH ratios of 1:2.5 and reaction time 8 h completely dissolved the quartz from the IOT, obtaining a solid fraction consisting mainly of hematite and an aqueous phase of sodium silicate, which showed contents of ca. 23% SiO2 and 19% Na2O. This sodium silicate obtained was then combined with IOT (25 and 50 wt.%) to produce geopolimeric material with excellent physico-chemical properties, fast curing time and very good compressive strength results, which ranged from 41 to 58 MPa and many potential applications.

We investigated the extent to which adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MD) in combination with Mediterranean lifestyle factors influenced students’ perceptions of subjective well-being (SWB) and distress. 939 undergraduates completed a survey to assess sociodemographic and lifestyle characteristics, including adherence to the MD, depression, anxiety, stress, and SWB. Data were analysed with correlation, logistic, and multiple linear regression models. Higher adherence to MD correlated with better SWB. Fruit, red meat, sweet and caffeinated beverages contributed significantly. However, it was the combination of adherence to MD with other factors, including quality of social relationships, income, smoking, sleep, and physical activity that better predicted SWB. Our results confirm the positive influence of MD on SWB. However, they also suggest the need to consider perceptions of well-being by a more holistic approach that considers physical and social factors simultaneously to improve the development of more effective educational and motivational programmes.

This paper examines two translators’ translational habitus in face of obstacles imposed by culturally marked terms in Darcy Ribeiro’s works. We analyse a parallel corpus of Social Anthropology of Civilization, composed of the books: O processo civilizatório (1968) e O povo brasileiro (1995) and their translations into English, as performed by Meggers and Rabassa. We intend to observe the translation of culturally marked terms in Darcy Ribeiro’s works; to analyse the translational process concerning this terminological vocabulary; and to investigate the translators’ linguistic and cultural habitus based on Bourdieu’s analysis. Our approach follows the guidelines from the corpus-based translation studies, corpus linguistics, and terminology. Concerning the classification and data analysis, we based our research on sociology of translation, especially verifying how the concept of habitus acts in the translational process of Anthropological field. The methodology adopted in our investigation required the on-line tool Sketch Engine. The results revealed substantial variation within the translated cultural terms, for example: “cangaço” (cangaço/banditry), "cunhadismo" (cunhadismo/in-lawism), "sesmarias" (land grands/ grant pieces of land), "brancacarrões"(light-skinned/ light mullatos). The constant use of this strategy showed the translators’ social role through different lexical choices endowed with different social meanings, representing a trend in the translational habitus. Slavery in the South of Minas Gerais was concentrated in the activity at the domestic market, especially for the province of Rio de Janeiro. Aiuruoca was a link in this regional trade network. These activities employed large contingents of captives, but little is known about slavery in the municipality. The objective is to understand the profile of the captives and their property, as well as to analyze some trajectories in the struggle for freedom in the last decades of slavery in Aiuruoca. We use different primary sources, some of them new: the 1872 census, the post-mortem inventories and the slaves' classification lists for freedom from 1874 to 1880. To understand the evolution of the profile of the slaved population in the 1870s, we use the nominative lists from 1830. A escravidão no Sul de Minas Gerais concentrou-se nas atividades para o mercado interno, muitas vezes destinadas à província do Rio de Janeiro. Aiuruoca consistia num elo dessa rede de abastecimento regional. Essas atividades empregavam grandes contingentes de cativos, mas pouco se conhece da escravidão do município. O objetivo consiste em compreender o perfil dos cativos e de sua propriedade, bem como analisar algumas trajetórias na luta pela liberdade nas últimas décadas da escravidão em Aiuruoca. Lançamos mão de diferentes fontes primárias algumas das quais inéditas: o censo de 1872, as listas de matrícula apensadas aos inventários e as listas de classificação dos escravos de 1874 a 1880. Para melhor entender o perfil da população escravizada na década de 1870 utilizamos de forma comparativa as listas nominativas de 1830.
