169. Machine Learning-Based Vision-Aided Beam Selection for mmWave Multiuser MISO System

Abstract

In this letter, we propose a machine learning-based vision-aided beam selection (ML-VBS) for millimeter-wave indoor multi-user communications. The proposed scheme is aimed at addressing the beam selection overhead with narrow beams in a multi-user scenario. The proposed scheme relies on a base station (BS) equipped with a single camera to observe the scene and estimates the angles to the multiple users. Given the estimated angle information and the limited number of radio frequency chains at the BS, two serial deep neural network structures are employed for joint user and beam selection subject to a minimum rate constraint. The numerical evaluation shows that the proposed ML-VBS scheme achieves a good performance in terms of the multi-user angle estimation, achievable sum rate and low computational complexity compared to conventional beam selection techniques.

Abstract

Aims: To date, a Toxoplasma gondii vaccine for clinical use remains unavailable, though multiple vaccine candidates have been suggested. In our previous studies, unadjuvanted virus‐like particles (VLPs) vaccines expressing multiple T. gondii antigens were confirmed to be protective against T. gondii challenge infection. Yet, the protective efficacy of adjuvanted T. gondii VLP in comparison with the unadjuvanted counterpart requires elucidation. Methods and Results: In the present study, mice were immunized with the multi‐antigenic VLP vaccines (TG146 VLP) with or without CpG adjuvants and their protective efficacies were compared. CpG‐adjuvanted TG146 VLP vaccine elicited enhanced T gondii‐specific IgG and IgA antibody responses in the sera, mucosal tissue and the brain compared to unadjuvanted VLPs vaccine. Inclusion of CpG adjuvant in vaccines also induced greater CD4+ and CD8+ T‐cell responses, as well as B cell and germinal centre B cell responses from splenocytes and mesenteric lymph nodes. Pro‐inflammatory cytokine response and cyst counts in the brain were drastically diminished in mice immunized with CpG‐adjuvanted VLP vaccines. Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that CpG‐adjuvanted T. gondii VLPs can significantly enhance the protective efficacy of vaccines against T. gondii infection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Multilayer tin oxide/gold/tin oxide (SnO2/Au/SnO2) was deposited by atomic layer deposition and an e-beam evaporator. The structural, electrical, and optical properties of the SnO2/Au/SnO2 multilayer were investigated. Au formed islands at a thickness less than 3 nm. As the Au interlayer thickness increased, the Au islands merged, resulting in a continuous film 12 nm thick. As the Au interlayer thickness increased from 0 to 12 nm, the carrier concentration and Hall mobility increased to 2.41 × 1022 cm−3 and 11.96 cm2 V−1 s−1, respectively. As a result, the resistivity decreased at 10−5 Ω cm with an increasing Au interlayer thickness compared to a SnO2 single layer. In addition, optical transmittance at 550 nm increased by more than 80% at 6 and 9 nm than at Au thicknesses of 3 and 12 nm. SnO2/Au/SnO2 multilayers are promising candidates as an indium-free transparent conducting oxide for use in high performance optoelectronic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Tin disulfide (SnS2) has emerged as a promising two-dimensional (2D) material due to its excellent electrical and optical properties. However, research into 2D SnS2 has mainly focused on its synthesis procedures and applications; its stability to humidity and temperature has yet to be studied. In this work, 2D SnS2 thin films were grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) and characterized by various tools, such as x-ray diffraction, Raman analysis, and transmission electron spectroscopy. Characterization reveals that ALD-grown SnS2 thin films are a high-quality 2D material. After characterization, a four-inch-wafer-scale uniformity test was performed by Raman analysis. Owing to the quality, large-area growth enabled by the ALD process, 98.72% uniformity was obtained. Finally, we calculated the thermodynamic equations for possible reactions between SnS2 and H2O to theoretically presurmise the oxidation of SnS2 during accelerated humidity and temperature testing. After the accelerated humidity and temperature test, x-ray diffraction, Raman analysis, and Auger electron spectroscopy were performed to check whether SnS2 was oxidized or not. Abstract

Despite increasing interest in tin disulfide (SnS2) as a two-dimensional (2D) material due to its promising electrical and optical properties, the surface treatment of silicon dioxide (SiO2) substrates prior to the atomic layer deposition (ALD) deposition of SnS2 has not been thoroughly studied. In this paper, we prepared two types of SiO2 substrates with and without using an O2 plasma surface treatment and compared the ALD growth behavior of SnS2 on the SiO2 substrates. The hydrophilic properties of the two SiO2 substrates were investigated by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and contact angle measurements, which showed that using an O2 plasma surface treatment tuned the surface to be more hydrophilic. ALD-grown SnS2 thin films on the two different SiO2 substrates were characterized by x-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. To estimate the exact thickness of the ALD-grown SnS2 thin films, transmission electron microscopy was used. Our data revealed that using O2 plasma surface treatment increased the growth rate of the initial ALD stage. Thus, the ALD-grown SnS2 thin film on the SiO2 substrate treated with O2 plasma was thicker than the film grown on the non-treated SiO2 substrate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The time dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) of 7–8 nm thick nitrided hafnium silicate (HfSiON) dielectric silicon (Si) metal-oxide-semiconductor capacitors are measured under uniaxial mechanical stress using four point wafer bending along the [110] direction. Both applied tensile and compressive stresses are observed to degrade TDDB. The degradation for both stress polarity is consistent with a previously reported increase in mechanical stress-induced gate leakage via Poole–Frenkel emission. The independence of the charge to breakdown on HfSiON thickness suggests that the degradation under mechanical stress is primary mediated at the HfSiON/Si interface during constant negative gate voltage stressing. 189. Not All Doom and Gloom: ChatGPT, Knowledge Diversity, and Style Similarity in Online Communities.

Abstract

Understanding the dynamics of user behavior in online collaborative communities (OCCs) is essential to leverage and maximize the potential of these communities. While OCCs heavily depend on usersf voluntary involvement, concerns have been raised regarding potential declines in user engagement following the introduction of ChatGPT, an advanced large language model. This study examines the disruptive impact of ChatGPT on user behavior within Stack Overflow—an OCC that is highly prominent and arguably most severely impacted by the technology shock— focusing on knowledge coverage and community cohesion. For the investigation, we use the entropy measure and linguistic-style match (LSM) methods to measure content diversity and linguistic style similarity, respectively, within the community. We then apply a difference-in-differences analysis to assess the causal effect of ChatGPT on these measures. Despite an overall decrease in the volume of user-generated posts following the introduction of ChatGPT, our empirical findings reveal a positive impact on knowledge coverage, indicating that ChatGPT helps enhance content diversity within the community. Additionally, the results indicate a trend of linguistic style homogenization, suggesting a more cohesive community environment potentially enabled by ChatGPT. Our study provides some early empirical evidence that, contrary to initial concerns about the introduction of ChatGPT threatening the role of OCCs, ChatGPT may have instead enriched and diversified community knowledge, fostering a more cohesive and collaborative environment for these communities.
