Post-partum depression (PPD) is a severe psychiatric disorder affecting ∼15% of young mothers. Early life stressful conditions in periconceptual, fetal and early infant periods or exposure to maternal psychiatric disorders, have been linked to adverse childhood outcomes interfering with physiological, cognitive and emotional development. The molecular mechanisms of PPD are not yet fully understood. Unraveling the molecular underpinnings of PPD will allow timely detection and establishment of effective therapeutic approaches. To investigate the underlying molecular correlates of PPD in peripheral material, we compared the serum metabolomes of an in detail characterized group of mothers suffering from PPD and a control group of mothers, all from Heraklion, Crete in Greece. Serum samples were analyzed by a mass spectrometry platform for targeted metabolomics, based on selected reaction monitoring (SRM), which measures the levels of up to 300 metabolites. In the PPD group, we observed increased levels of glutathione-disulfide, adenylosuccinate, and ATP, which associate with oxidative stress, nucleotide biosynthesis and energy production pathways. We also followed up the metabolomic findings in a validation cohort of PPD mothers and controls. To the very best of our knowledge, this is the first metabolomic serum analysis in PPD. Our data show that molecular changes related to PPD are detectable in peripheral material, thus paving the way for additional studies in order to shed light on the molecular correlates of PPD. Background: The tuberculin skin test (TST) is a long-established screening method for tuberculosis. However, the Mantoux technique is often difficult to reliably perform, which affects testing results and safety, which causes local skin pain and pruritus. Methods: In this study, dissolving microneedle-array patches (MNP) were used to deliver purified protein derivative (PPD) tuberculin into the skin. The skin reaction was compared between MNP delivery and conventional injection. Results: The MNP penetrated the skin easily with a thumb press, and the microneedle dissolved into the skin completely after 1 h. The storage life of MNP loaded with PPD (MNP-PPD) was 7 weeks at atmospheric pressure and room temperature. Only 1/50 dosage of PPD (approximately 0.04 IU) was needed in MNP compared with conventional injection (2 IU) in terms of skin reactivity to TST. When TST was tested in volunteers, the redness and induration of the skin were 19.7 ± 5.6 mm in TB patients, 12.6 ± 4.4 mm in LTBI (latent TB infection) patients, and 5.8 ± 2.7 mm in BCG vaccination healthy volunteers and lasted approximately 26 ± 5.4 days. When applied with MNP-PPD, the redness and induration on the skin decreased significantly to 3.1 ± 0.7 mm in TB patients and 2.0 ± 0.5 mm in LTBI, and the duration time was only 8.5 ± 1.5 days. Moreover, despite the relatively mild skin reactivity in BCG vaccination healthy volunteers with conventional injection, there was no skin reactivity in BCG vaccination healthy volunteers with MNP-PPD. Conclusion: In addition to being minimally invasive, needle-free, and painless, no adverse effects were attributed to the new diagnostic method, which may be of value for the safe and effective clinical administration of TB screening. Background: Viral warts are caused by human papillomavirus. Many therapeutic options are available for treating warts. Newer and effective treatments include intralesional immunotherapy, has been tried in the recent times with variable success rates. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the effect of intralesional vitamin D3 versus purified protein derivative (PPD) in the treatment of multiple cutaneous warts. Methods: A total of 62 patients were included in the study, each patient had at least 3 common warts, one or more of them injected with 0.1 of intralesional PPD, one or more injected with 0.5 of vitamin D3 and one or more were control according to number of warts of each patient and up to 4 sessions. The clinical assessment was done by photographic measurements at baseline, before each treatment session, and after the completion of treatment. Results: In PPD-injected lesions. 43 patients (69.4%) showed complete clearance (100%) and 13 patients (20.9%) showed partial response (25% - 99%). While, in vitamin D3-injected lesions, 22 patients (35.5%) showed complete clearance while 21 patients (33.9%) showed partial response. On comparing between PPD, vitamin D3 and control, both PPD and vit D3 were statistically significant compared to control and PPD was more statistically significant than vit D3 (P3 = 0.019) in effectiveness and less in recurrence rate. Conclusions: PPD and vitamin D3 were found to be effective, well-tolerated modalities of treatment of multiple common warts. The indoor thermal environment of buildings influences people's health, well-being and productivity, as well as energy consumption. The importance of thermal comfort in buildings has been recognized for decades. However, this aspect is still incipient in the Colombian construction industry, especially in housing projects. In this research, the thermal performance of three common housing types in the city of Medellin was analyzed. To do this, the operative temperature, the predicted mean vote (PMV) and the predicted percentage of dissatisfied (PPD) were calculated in accordance with ISO 7730:2005. The results showed that the thermal inertia of two of the three types of housing examined was insufficient to offer adequate thermal conditions, despite the temperate climate of the Aburra Valley. Background: There is an ongoing discussion on whether routinely patch testing with p‐phenylenediamine (PPD) 1.0% pet. is safe, owing to the risk of patch test sensitization. Late‐appearing patch test reactions may reflect patch test sensitization, but may also be attributable to a low degree of pre‐existing sensitization. Objectives: To follow the positive patch test reactions to PPD and its salt PPD dihydrochloride (PPD‐DHC) in order to characterize reaction patterns concerning time and dose in PPD‐sensitized individuals. Methods: Volunteers with previous reactions to PPD 1.0% were included and patch tested with PPD and PPD‐DHC in equimolar dilution series. There were then seven follow‐up visits over a period of 28 days. Results: Twenty‐six volunteers completed the study, of whom 23 of 26 (88%) reacted to PPD 1.0%, and 69% reacted to PPD 0.32%. Altogether, 42% and 27% reacted to the corresponding equimolar concentrations of PPD‐DHC. After day 7, no new reactions were observed to any concentration tested, either of PPD or of PPD‐DHC. Conclusion: No late‐appearing reactions to PPD or PPD‐DHC were observed at any dose. There is a risk of missing contact allergy when the dose is decreased. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Precise detection of latent tuberculosis infection is becoming increasingly important due to increased use of immunosuppressive drugs and the human immunodeficiency virus epidemic, which increased the risk of reactivation to active tuberculosis (TB). The Quanti-FERON® TB Gold IGRA Test has advantages over the skin test for TB, otherwise known as a Mantoux tuberculin test, for example, requires only a blood sample collection; there is no need for the patient to return to the laboratory for reading and interpretation of the results; The results are objective, do not require interpretation of the reader or interference of subjective criteria; it is an in vitro test, so there is no “booster effect” (potentiation of the tuberculin reaction); the test is not affected by prior BCG vaccination or infection with other species of mycobacteria. Limitations are described, although rare, as cross-reactions of this method with infections by some species of non-tuberculosis mycobacteria (including Mycobacterium kansasii, Mycobacterium szulgai and Mycobacterium marinum). There is still little data on the IGRA test in certain populations, such as in children, immunocompromised patients and pregnant women. Nowadays, the thermal comfort in the means of transport is an important field of research, which have a positive impact on the health of the passengers and the driver. The latest research, results and methods, to determining the comfort in means of transport are presented in the first part of the paper. The thermal comfort study is carried out on an existing bus geometry. The bus geometry is modelled in SolidWorks using blueprints available on the web. The simulation is done for three cases: the first case where the ventilation system is open at maximum capacity, the second case where the ventilation system works at maximum capacity whit the air deflectors mounted for a better distribution of the air and the last case when the bus velocity is 14m/s whit two rear windows opened. The results of the first simulations are analysed and a location of deflectors is proposed for an optimal distribution of air inside the bus. Abstract There is increasing evidence of adverse health impact of solid biomass fuel, and its use may hinder thermal comfort, which may lead to lower quality of life. Hence, current study aims to assess the thermal comfort at a rural location of Punjab, India. The indoor air temperature and relative humidity in rural households during winter varied from 11.9–25.2 °C and 63.4–90.5% respectively, during pre-summer it ranged between 21.3 and 27.4 °C and 48.4–78.4% while during summer it ranged between 28.4 and 37.8 °C and 13.7–63.8% respectively. The PMV of the households ranged between −0.85 to 0.69 (winter), −0.32 to 0.4 (pre-summer) and 0.53 to 1.25 (summer) for American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) 55-2017 and −0.56 to 1.11 (winter), 0.04 to 0.99 (pre-summer) and 1.21–2.36 (summer) for European Committee for Standardization (CEN) European standard EN15251 while the Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied ranged between 5 and 20% (winter), 5–8% (pre-summer) and 11–38% (summer) for ASHRAE 55-2017 and 5–31% (winter), 5–26% (pre-summer) and 36–90% (summer) for EN15251 guidelines. On the other hand, Adaptive thermal comfort (ATC) during winter and pre-summer was comfortable for 80 and 90% acceptable limits (ASHRAE-2017) and ranged between too cool to comfortable for EN15251 (Class I, II and III) while during summer thermal comfort for occupants was comfortable for ASHRAE 2017 and EN15251 (Class I, II, III) but did not comply with EN guidelines in some households using either clean fuel or chullah. Thermal comfort sensation was observed to be slightly cool to neutral during winter, neutral during pre-summer and slightly warm during summer according to Predicted Mean Vote method. The results were also compared using a thermal comfort and household survey and found to be similar with the model results. Climate change is leading to changes in temperature which may have an impact on the built environment. Hence, the current study suggests formulating policies on the uses of household fuel and design of kitchen with proper ventilation to increase thermal comfort which in turn will also reduce air pollutants. Abstract The Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) and the Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied (PPD) indices are used to assess the indoor environment in terms of human thermal comfort-discomfort. In this study, an experimental combined objective and subjective investigation of thermal comfort perception has been performed in students between 16-18 years old, in a non-air-conditioned school building in Gerakas municipality within the urban greater Athens area. The objective approach included instrumentation measurements and data processing according to ISO 7730, whereas, the subjective one was based on answers collection following ISO 10551. The study is mainly devoted to the verification of Fanger's approach in a building, in free running conditions, under a mild (moderate) climate. The comparison between instrumentation data and questionnaire results presented an underestimation of the mean vote, predicting a cooler sensation than the actual one. Finally, the knowledge of human thermal perception indoors is a first approach in order to control the energy demands/savings as well as the emissions of a building complex having impact in urban microclimate and urban air quality. Abstract In this study, we proposed a PMV-based method to evaluate the variations in thermal characteristics of the cabin of a submersible craft and the comfort levels of the crew during manned deep-sea missions. Based on the characteristics of tasks performed during a submersible deep-sea mission, we modified the criteria used by our model for clothing and activities, and then investigated other human factors found in the cabin as well. To test and verify our method, we used the averages of the environment data (depth, temperature, and humidity) from a Jiaolong mission that included six 7000 m deep-sea dives in the southern Mariana Trench. MATLAB was employed to calculate the PMV index and PPD, and to draw the PMV/PPD dynamic curves. The results showed that the PMV value changed constantly between [-2, +3]. The cabin thermal environment was dynamic and in continuous change, including a short period of a warm state and a long, continuous cold state. Because the submersible cabin lacked an air conditioning system, this paper analyzed the two-state thermal comfort based on regulating the air velocity of the ventilation system. Our detailed findings can be used by the submersible design institutes to evaluate the thermal comfort of oceanauts on manned submersibles, and to coordinate the energy distribution of air conditioning systems for cabins in the future. Modern buildings with new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems offer possibility to fit parameters of the indoor environment to the occupants’ requirements. The present paper describes the results of measurements performed in an office room in the first Polish passive commercial office building during four months of normal operation. They were used to calculate parameters describing thermal comfort: vertical air temperature profile, floor surface temperature, predicted mean vote (PMV) and predicted percent of dissatisfied (PPD). Obtained results confirmed good thermal conditions in the analysed room. The average temperature of the floor’s surface varied from 20.6 °C to 26.2 °C. The average vertical air temperature, calculated for working days, was from 22.5 °C to 23.1 °C. The temperature difference between the floor and 5 cm below the ceiling was from −0.9 °C to 6.3 °C. The PMV index varied from 0.52 to 1.50 indicating ‘slightly warm’ sensation, in spite of ‘neutral’ reported by employees. Also measured cooling and heating energy consumption was presented. The performed measurements confirmed the ability of thermally activated building system (TABS) to keep good thermal conditions.

This paper aims to identify how the ISO 7730 Standard is perceived by manufacturing companies in Romanian industry. This paper aims to integrate the details of the ISO 7730 Standard into the research related to the level of comfort in manufacturing companies with high heat emissions. Furthermore, we hope to identify how the indices provided in the ISO 7730 Standard can influence the productivity and quality indicators in production.

• We conducted a qualitative meta-synthesis about experience of postpartum depression among Chinese women. • There were five final themes extracted and re-conceptualized from the 11 studies. • The five themes were: the gap between expectation and reality, conflicts with family, physical and mental frustrations, critical needs for coping with changes, and measures against PPD. • This meta-synthesis also emphasizes the major internal and external factors that influence the development of postpartum depression among Chinese postpartum women. Postpartum depression (PPD) is associated with various adverse health outcomes among mothers and babies. Meta-synthesis can improve our understanding of postpartum women's experiences. However, the meta-analysis of PPD among Chinese women is limited. Therefore, a meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of PPD among Chinese women and if and how traditional culture may exacerbate PPD. Qualitative studies on the experiences of Chinese women with PPD were searched from database establishment until May 2022 in ten databases. The meta-ethnography reporting guidelines and framework was applied to the writing and reporting of this review. The protocol for this systematic review was registered with the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (CRD42022323388). 2321 studies were retrieved, and 11 studies qualified for the meta-synthesis. The final five themes extracted and re-conceptualized from these studies were as follows: the gap between expectation and reality, conflicts with family, physical and mental frustrations, critical needs for coping with changes, and measures against PPD. Chinese women with PPD frequently feel vulnerable physically, mentally, or both after childbirth and often have conflicts with their families due to the influence of traditional Chinese culture. This research lies within the scope of environmental research for seeking solutions for the optimizations of energy in the electrical supply network ADE- Adrar (Algérienne des Eaux d’Adrar/Algeria). Indeed, the principal aiming of this research is the integration of renewable resources (energy independence and sustainable development) that it pushes us to consider from now on the energy problem not only according to the economic point of view, but also according to an ecological point of view (reduction of CO2 emission). This with us encouraged to develop our systems of energy on the basis of distributed generation on a large scale including/understanding renewable energy and the high-output energetic solutions.

The pinning voltage is a key design parameter of pinned photodiode CMOS image sensors which significantly affects the device performances and which is often used by manufacturers to monitor production lines and for the optimization of technological processes. This paper presents a comparative study of pinning voltage estimation methods, which are based on both electrical measurements performed on isolated test structures (or on test structures arrays) and in-pixel measurements. It is shown, with the support of simulations and experimental measurements, that not all the estimation methods provide an absolute value of the pinning voltage. Moreover, this paper demonstrates that the commonly accepted theoretical definition of the pinning voltage does not correspond to the physical parameter which is measured with the existing methods.

Hospitals require the highest energy demands in non-residential buildings. They provide healthcare 24/7/365 and, at the same time, they ensure indoor air quality, thermal comfort and sterility. However, several studies reveal that high indoor temperatures and low relative humidity (RH) are often perceived in patient rooms during the heating season, suggesting an important energy saving potential. Against this background, radiant ceiling panel (RCP) systems result to be one of the most appropriate solutions as they allow to achieve significant energy savings while providing the highest level of thermal and acoustic comfort, as well as of infection control. In the present study the microclimatic survey of a patient room at Maggiore Hospital in Bologna, Italy, equipped with an air conditioning system integrated with RCP, has reported occupant thermal discomfort. Experimental data were used to calibrate a building model and dynamic building energy simulations were carried out to analyse indoor air temperature, relative humidity, predicted mean vote (PMV) and predicted percentage of dissatisfied (PPD) indexes under different inlet air temperatures, to identify the best design conditions for energy efficiency and thermal comfort improvement. It was found that the highest advantages can be obtained when neutral air is supplied.

Granule-associated killing molecules released from cytotoxic T lymphocytes participate as a crucial step in immunity against tuberculosis (TB), but the role of coordinated production remains controversial. Coordinated release of effector molecules in vitro after stimulating peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of active TB or HIV/TB coinfection patients with PPD, purified protein derivative of tuberculin and avirulent Mtb, H37Ra, an attenuated strain were investigated in association with clinical outcomes. Perforin, granzyme-B, granulysin and IFN-γ were measured using ELISA. Before anti-TB treatment, PBMCs of TB stimulated with PPD or H37Ra released higher perforin, granzyme-B, and granulysin levels than in HIV/TB and released significantly higher IFN-γ (p = 0.045, p = 0.022). Granulysin positively correlated with perforin in TB (p = 0.042, r = 0.385), HIV/TB coinfection (p = 0.003, r = 0.941) after PPD stimulation, and after H37Ra stimulation in TB (p = 0.005, r = 0.549), but negatively correlated with granzyme B in TB (p = 0.042, r = −0.386), HIV/TB coinfection (p = 0.042, r = 0.754) were noted. After anti-TB treatment, increased levels of perforin, granulysin and IFN-γ in TB or HIV/TB upon PPD or H37Ra stimulation, and decreased granzyme-B levels after PPD (p = 0.003) or H37Ra (p = 0.028) stimulation in TB were observed. These results suggest that granulysin may act synergistic with perforin and IFN-γ in TB, indicating its crucial function in host immunity to tuberculosis. Future studies with larger numbers of patients ought to be conducted in the future.

There are different actors in an operating room (OR), who have controversial requirements for the indoor thermal environment. While the patient is at risk of perioperative hypothermia, the surgeons are in a state of thermophysiological discomfort. The study presents an analysis of the thermophysiological comfort of both patient and surgeons in an OR. Surgical clothing ensembles with three values of clothing insulation are simulated. Different indoor environment conditions (air temperature and relative humidity) are tested. The analysis is based on the calculation of predicted mean vote and predicted percentage of dissatisfied (PMV-PPD) indexes and assessment of the climatic conditions categories. Discussion of the predicted heat strain is also presented. The simulated results and their analysis show considerable discrepancies between the thermophysiological comfort of the patient and the surgeons, even when dressed in a light protective ensemble, in the same indoor environment.

Simulation tools are widely used to model buildings in order to predict their indoor air quality and energy consumption. The prediction capability of the model is an influential factor in determining the ability of the building to be energy efficient and thermally comfortable. Thus, the validation of the developed models is crucial. In this context, this paper presents a numerical model developed using an object-oriented modelling tool based on the Modelica approach and a case study validation of this model. Then the thermal behaviour of the building and the occupants’ thermal comfort in the considered case study are investigated. The objective is to validate the developed model firstly by comparing predicted results with measured data regarding room temperature and relative humidity, and secondly by comparing the calculated thermal comfort indices (PMV and PPD) based on predicted results and measured data. The results show good agreement between simulations and experiments, with a maximum error in room temperature and relative humidity of 1.7 °C and 4.5%, respectively, and only 1% and 1.5% difference between averaged values of PMV and PPD, respectively.

Polydactyly, also known as hyperdactyly or hexadactyly is the most common hereditary limb anomaly characterized by extra fingers or toes, with various associated morphologic phenotypes as part of a syndrome (syndromic polydactyly) or may occur as a separate event (non-syndromic polydactyly). Broadly, the non-syndromic polydactyly has been classified into three types, i.e.; preaxial polydactyly (radial), central polydactyly (axial), and postaxial polydactyly (ulnar). Mostly inherited as an autosomal dominant entity with variable penetrance and caused by defects that occur in the anterior-posterior patterning of limb development. In humans, to-date at least 10 loci and six genes causing non-syndromic polydactyly have been identified, including the ZNF141, GLI3, MIPOL1, IQCE, PITX1, and the GLI1. In the present review, clinical, genetic and molecular characterization of the polydactyly types has been presented including the recent genes and loci identified for non-syndromic polydactyly. This review provides an overview of the complex genetic mechanism underlie polydactyly and might help in genetic counseling and quick molecular diagnosis.

Estrogen (E2) withdrawal is a core pathology mechanism for postpartum depression (PPD). Galanin (GAL), an estrogen-inducible neuropeptide has also been reported to be associated with depression. However, it still remains unclear which GAL receptors (GALRs) are involved in PPD pathologic process. In the present study, we discovered that the expression of GALR1, rather than GALR2/3, was upregulated with a region-specific pattern in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of E2 withdrawal induced PPD model rats. Meanwhile, c-fos was also upregulated only in PFC in the same animal model. Injection of GALR1-siRNA into the bilateral PFC ameliorated depressive-like behavior of PPD rats, suggesting that the upregulation of GALR1 in PFC is involved in PPD. Moreover, Western Blot and HPLC assays demonstrated that the downregulation of CREB-BDNF signaling and 5-HT levels in the PFC of PPD rats were reversed after GALR1-siRNA injection. These comprehensive results suggest that the knock down of GALR1 in PFC alleviates depressive-like behaviors and reverse downregulation of CREB-BDNF and 5-HT levels in PPD rat model.HIGHLIGHTS Expression level of GALR1 mRNA was significantly increased in PFC of estrogen withdraw-induced PPD rats.Injecting GALR1-siRNA into PFC alleviated depressive-like behavior and reversed the decrease of 5-HT level and CREB/BDNF signaling in PFC of PPD rats.

Le henné est un produit utilisé pour colorer les cheveux, mais aussi pour dessiner des tatouages labiles sur la peau. Le henné est souvent mélangé avec de la paraphénylènediamine (PPD). Nous rapportons l'observation d'une patiente qui a présenté un eczéma de contact à un tatouage labile contenant la PPD. Une jeune femme de 23 ans se fait tatouer sur le dos de la main et sur l'avant-bras des dessins esthétiques à base de henné noir. Ce tatouage labile contenait de la PPD. Deux jours plus tard, elle développe des lésions érythématovésiculeuses et édémateuses très prurigineuses avec une sensation de cuisson. Les lésions siégeaient au site de tatouage et suivaient exactement le dessin initial. Elles étaient améliorées par un traitement à base de dermocorticoïdes de classe 4. La patiente refuse l'exploration allergologique par patch-tests et aucun test allergologique n'est effectué. Actuellement, le henné est très en vogue dans les pays occidentaux. La PPD est ajoutée pour diminuer le temps de fixation ou pour obtenir une coloration plus foncée. Elle peut entrainer de graves réactions systémiques. La réaction allergique la plus fréquente est la dermatite de contact. Le traitement repose sur la corticothérapie locale. Une meilleure législation sur la pratique du tatouage temporaire et le contrôle des préparations ainsi qu'une Information régulière annuelle du grand public sont indispensables. L'intérêt de notre observation est de montrer l'importance d'informer surtout les jeunes sur les risques d'un tatouage labile.

Intralesional PPD and intralesional Candida antigen have shown promising efficacy in the treatment of different types of warts, however a combination of both agents has not been previously used. In this study, we compare the efficacy and safety of the alternating use of intralesional PPD and intralesional Candida antigen versus the continuous use of either agent alone in the treatment of common warts. This study has been designed to evaluate safety and efficacy of BCG vaccine in school-entering children in terms of tuberculin response to PPD and scar formation as indicators for successful vaccination. 12 BCG lots were used to immunize 1054 tuberculin-negative children at age of 7 years. Local lesions were observed and recorded 1, 3 and 12 months after immunization, and tuberculin sensitivity was measured 3 months after BCG re-immunization. The mean diameter of local reaction was 5.58±1.63 mm at 1st month, 5.13±1.56 mm at 3rd month and 4.16±1.21 mm at 12th month respectively. Tuberculin conversion was 100% and the mean diameter of induration 3 months after BCG application was 10.53±1.66 mm. All of the results obtained pointed to the fact that Bulgarian BCG vaccine induces adequate tuberculin sensitivity to a low dose of PPD tuberculin without great local skin lesions and without occurrence of any untoward vaccination reactions. Very good consistency from batch to batch is observed and this is a proof that biological activity of the Bulgarian BCG strain is kept under continuous control

Background: Postpartum depression (PPD) is associated with several psychological and obstetric factors. Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has been linked with a high risk of depression, but little is known about the relationship between maternal HBV infection and PPD. We aimed to investigate the association between HBV infection and PPD., Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 3,808 mothers who gave birth in a hospital in southern China. Self-reported Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) was used to assess PPD. Multivariate logistic regression was used to determine whether maternal HBV infection was associated with PPD risk., Results: Of the 3,808 participants, 11.9% of mothers had PPD at 6 weeks postpartum. Two hundred and seventy-eight (7.3%) and 3,530 (92.7%) were in the HBV and control groups, respectively. Women with HBV infection were more likely to test positive for PPD (14.7 vs.11.7%). The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that HBV-infected women did not have a significantly higher incidence of PPD (OR = 1.23; 95% CI, 0.82-1.84) than those without HBV infection in the study cohort. Parity and postpartum hemorrhage were found to be associated with PPD. In addition, our study showed that e antigen positivity was not associated with PPD risk (OR = 0.56, 95% CI 0.19-1.63)., Conclusions: To our knowledge, this is the first investigation of the relationship between maternal HBV infection and PPD. Background: The treatment of condyloma acuminatum (CA), especially the very persistent and recurrent CA, is currently the focus of our research. Immunotherapies have recently been shown to be well-tolerated and effective in treating warts, particularly refractory warts. However, there is still a lack of corresponding evidence-based medical evidence on the effectiveness of different immunotherapies in treating warts. The difference between network meta-analysis and meta-analysis is that network meta-analysis can be used to compare multiple treatments by combining direct and indirect evidence to assess the interrelationship between all treatments. We intend to compare the efficacy of different treatments for CA using a network meta-analysis., Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Library and Embase from inception to June 1st, 2023 were searched using a computer. All articles on immunotherapies for CA were included. Stata MP17.0 software was used for data analyses., Results: A total of 8 randomly-controlled trials involving 493 patients were included. Result showed that all treatment measures had a significant efficacy compared with the regular saline group (BCG (bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine) OR = 96.00, 95%CI: 10.35-890.58; MMR (measle, mumps and rubella vaccine) OR = 29.69, 95%CI: 7.47-118.04; Candida antigens OR = 27.34, 95%CI: 8.64-86.52; PPDs (purified protein derivatives) OR = 23.33, 95%CI: 6.75-80.60; VD3 OR = 21.36, 95%CI: 4.34-105.16 and purified protein derivatives (general) OR = 13.14, 95%CI: 3.38-51.12). Abstract Thermal comfort is a subcategory of environmental comfort measured in the light of climatic conditions. Having a good climate is regarded as an advantage for any tourist attraction. The present study aimed at assessing thermal comfort of tourist attractions in Kerman. This cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study used ISO 7730 to evaluate thermal comfort in Kerman through both subjective and objective procedures. Data were collected on three different days of the six months of summer and winter. Three time intervals (8–9 AM, 11–12 PM, and 6–7 PM.) were set for data collection on each day. The results indicated that subjective and objective PMV had the highest correlation with dry temperature (r = 0.88 and r = 0.94, respectively). There was also a significant correlation between objective and subjective PPD (r = 0.91) and objective and subjective PMV (r = 0.97). According to the obtained results, subjective PMV is greater than objective PMV. In other words, subjective dissatisfaction is greater than objective dissatisfaction. Furthermore, according to the obtained values for subjective and objective PMV, thermal comfort is at the maximum level at 6–7 PM (during summer) and 11–12 AM (during winter). Policy makers should plan to attract a larger number of tourists in these times. Estrogen (E2) withdrawal is a core pathology mechanism for postpartum depression (PPD). Galanin (GAL), an estrogen-inducible neuropeptide has also been reported to be associated with depression. However, it still remains unclear which GAL receptors (GALRs) are involved in PPD pathologic process. In the present study, we discovered that the expression of GALR1, rather than GALR2/3, was upregulated with a region-specific pattern in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of E2 withdrawal induced PPD model rats. Meanwhile, c-fos was also upregulated only in PFC in the same animal model. Injection of GALR1-siRNA into the bilateral PFC ameliorated depressive-like behavior of PPD rats, suggesting that the upregulation of GALR1 in PFC is involved in PPD. Moreover, Western Blot and HPLC assays demonstrated that the downregulation of CREB-BDNF signaling and 5-HT levels in the PFC of PPD rats were reversed after GALR1-siRNA injection. These comprehensive results suggest that the knock down of GALR1 in PFC alleviates depressive-like behaviors and reverse downregulation of CREB-BDNF and 5-HT levels in PPD rat model. HIGHLIGHTS Expression level of GALR1 mRNA was significantly increased in PFC of estrogen withdraw-induced PPD rats. Polydactyly, also known as hyperdactyly or hexadactyly is the most common hereditary limb anomaly characterized by extra fingers or toes, with various associated morphologic phenotypes as part of a syndrome (syndromic polydactyly) or may occur as a separate event (non-syndromic polydactyly). Broadly, the non-syndromic polydactyly has been classified into three types, i.e.; preaxial polydactyly (radial), central polydactyly (axial), and postaxial polydactyly (ulnar). Mostly inherited as an autosomal dominant entity with variable penetrance and caused by defects that occur in the anterior-posterior patterning of limb development. In humans, to-date at least 10 loci and six genes causing non-syndromic polydactyly have been identified, including the ZNF141 , GLI3 , MIPOL1 , IQCE , PITX1 , and the GLI1. In the present review, clinical, genetic and molecular characterization of the polydactyly types has been presented including the recent genes and loci identified for non-syndromic polydactyly. Summary: Flowering time is an important factor affecting grain yield in wheat. In this study, we divided reproductive spike development into eight sub‐phases. These sub‐phases have the potential to be delicately manipulated to increase grain yield. We measured 36 traits with regard to sub‐phase durations, determined three grain yield‐related traits in eight field environments and mapped 15 696 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP, based on 90k Infinium chip and 35k Affymetrix chip) markers in 210 wheat genotypes. Phenotypic and genetic associations between grain yield traits and sub‐phase durations showed significant consistency (Mantel test; r = 0.5377, P < 0.001). The shared quantitative trait loci (QTLs) revealed by the genome‐wide association study suggested a close association between grain yield and sub‐phase duration, which may be attributed to effects on spikelet initiation/spikelet number (double ridge to terminal spikelet stage, DR‐TS) and assimilate accumulation (green anther to anthesis stage, GA‐AN). Moreover, we observed that the photoperiod‐sensitivity allele at the Ppd‐D1 locus on chromosome 2D markedly extended all sub‐phase durations, which may contribute to its positive effects on grain yield traits. The dwarfing allele at the Rht‐D1 (chromosome 4D) locus altered the sub‐phase duration and displayed positive effects on grain yield traits. Data for 30 selected genotypes (from among the original 210 genotypes) in the field displayed a close association with that from the greenhouse. Most importantly, this study demonstrated specific connections to grain yield in narrower time windows (i.e. the eight sub‐phases), rather than the entire stem elongation phase as a whole. The chemical interaction of reduced graphene oxide ( RGO ) and poly-o-phenylenediamine ( PPD ) was studied. A simple method was proposed for synthesis of thin flexible electroactive conducting films based on reduced graphene oxide and poly-o-phenylenediamine. Introduction: Mantoux test aids in the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB), however its application and interpretation are dependent on multiple factors. Methodology: A prospective study enrolling 400 children (aged 2-12) suspected to have tuberculosis. All participants received Mantoux test with two different strengths (1 TU and 5 TU) of Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) on different forearms. The test was read by two readers after 48 ± 2 and 72 ± 2 hours. Primary outcome was difference in the size of induration when read by two readers (interobserver variability). Secondary outcomes were difference in the size of induration at different intervals, with different strengths of PPD and percentage positivity of Mantoux test in TB patients. Results: Statistically significant difference was seen in the size of induration when read by two different readers, with fair to moderate agreement when read at 48 and 72 hours (1 TU: p = 0.002, k = 0.52 and p = 0.1, k = 0.73 respectively, 5 TU: p = 0.001, k = 0.39 and p = 0.0009, k = 0.33 respectively). Tendency of under-reading occurred when size of induration was close to significant level (10-14 mm). Size of induration was similar when read at 48 or 72 hours (1 TU: p = 0.9, 5 TU: p = 1.0). Mantoux positivity rate in patients with TB was more with 5 TU as compared to 1 TU (61.2% vs. 16.3%). Conclusions: There is significant interobserver variability with a tendency to under-read around the cutoff point. The use of 5 TU PPD at 48 hours by a trained physician can aid in early and more reliable diagnosis of TB. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It is a prime aim to ensure a suitable comfort level in case of office buildings. The productivity of office employees is directly influenced by the comfort. Thermal discomfort and poor indoor air quality deteriorate the intensity and quality of human work. We investigated the comfort in office buildings with on-site measurements during the summer season. The office buildings were operating with different HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning) systems: ducted fan-coil with suspended ceiling, installation, non-ducted fan-coil with floor-mounted installation, active chilled beam with fresh air supply. We evaluated the thermal comfort under PMV (Predicted Mean Vote), PPD (Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied), the local discomfort based on DR (Draught Rate) and the IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) based on carbon dioxide concentration. The comfort measurements were evaluated. The measurements were evaluated with scientific research methods, comfort categories based on the requirements of CR 1752. The aim of this study was to determine tuberculosis (Tb) agents in milk and the pathologic changes in the tissues and organs of 100 PPD Tb-positive cows that were intended for slaughter. Milk samples were taken before slaughtering and PCR analysis was conducted to detect the Tb agent. In postmortem examinations, the lungs, liver, mammary glands, spleen, kidneys, and heart were collected for macroscopic and histopathological examinations. Out of the 100 PPD positive cows, lesions of Tb were observed in 75 cows. In the microscopic examination, Tb was identified in the lungs (51 cases), liver (61 cases), and in both the liver and lungs (37 cases). Although mammary Tb was suspected in 32 cows in macroscopic examinations, in microscopic examinations these cases were evaluated as chronic pyogenic abscesses mastitis. No Tb agents were detected by PCR analysis in milk samples taken from the cows before slaughter. Therefore, periodical milk inspections are suggested for controlling agents in milk. In some of the Tb PPD positive animals (25 cases), no changes were detected; therefore, there is a need to improve tests with higher sensitivity for the antemortem diagnosis of Tb. SUMMARY: Background: Concern about causing active sensitization when patch testing is performed with p‐phenylenediamine (PPD) 1% pet. has led to a recommendation to use PPD 0.3% pet. as a potentially safer preparation. However, the dose per area of allergen delivered, and hence the risk of active sensitization, depend on the amount dispensed into the patch test chamber, which can vary widely. Objective: To evaluate whether patch testing with equivalent doses of different concentrations of PPD in pet. is associated with similar outcomes. Methods: Seventeen known PPD‐sensitive subjects were patch tested with different volumes and concentrations of PPD in pet. that deliver the same allergen dose per unit area (6 mg of PPD 1% pet. and 20 mg of PPD 0.3% pet. in Finn Chambers®, both equivalent to ∼ 0.09 mg/cm2). Results: Eleven patients (65%) had positive reactions to both doses; 4 patients (24%) had negative results [percentage agreement of 88% (15/17)]. One patient each had a positive reaction to only one dose. Conclusions: The 88% concordance suggests that dose per unit area is more important in determining reactions to allergens than the excipient volume dispensed. Patch testing with a smaller volume of 1% PPD may be a reasonable alternative to testing with 20 mg of 0.3% PPD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It is estimated that U.S. Latinas have a higher risk of developing postpartum depression (PPD) than the general population, with even higher risk among immigrant Latinas. We conducted three focus groups with immigrants from Mexico and Central America (19) inquiring about cultural messages regarding PPD. Groups were conducted in Spanish, and thematic analysis was used to uncover themes. Themes are presented within three categories: views of PPD, cultural messages and beliefs that prevent treatment seeking, and suggestions to promote treatment seeking. Résumé L’évitement pathologique des demandes ( pathological demand avoidance [PDA]) désigne un syndrome conceptualisé par E. Newson en 1980 surtout connu au Royaume-Uni et dans les pays d’Europe du Nord. La résistance obsessionnelle aux exigences quotidiennes faisant appel à des stratégies manipulatrices, une sociabilité superficielle marquée par une position égocentrée, une labilité de l’humeur liée à un besoin de contrôle de la relation et un intérêt prononcé pour le monde imaginaire en sont les signes cardinaux. Les difficultés de communication et d’interactions sociales de ces enfants amènent à se poser la question d’une appartenance ou d’une parenté avec les troubles envahissant du développement (TED). Le débat sur ce sujet reste ouvert dans la mesure où certaines descriptions de TED (« psychopathie autistique », syndrome d’Asperger, trouble envahissant du développement non spécifié, autisme atypique…) englobent parfois ce phénotype comportemental. Cet article vise à réactualiser la description clinique, à présenter un outil à visée diagnostique en cours d’élaboration et à discuter les principaux diagnostics différentiels de ce syndrome. Versant sémiologique ou entité clinique, cette pathologie contient en soi suffisamment d’éléments de spécificité pour poursuivre les études afin de préciser sa place dans la nosographie actuelle et dégager des axes pédagogiques et éducatifs qui lui sont propres. The aim of this paper is to inform French clinicians about “pathological demand avoidance” syndrome, also referred to as PDA, described by Elizabeth Newson (1929–2014), professor of developmental psychology at the University of Nottingham in the 1980s. E. Newson discerned a particular behavioral pattern in a subgroup of children who were referred to her for suspicion of autism or Asperger's syndrome without confirmed diagnostic assessment. These children have an inability to tolerate demands imposed upon them and try to resist with strategies of avoidance; being essentially socially manipulative is not compatible with the shared representation of autism. They give an impression of sociability, but they often lack a sense of social identity (e.g. believing themselves to be on a par with or superior to adults), pride or shame. They have mood swings led by need to control their relationship. They appear comfortable in role playing and pretending – often adopting borrowed roles when interacting with others (e.g. relating to peers in the manner of a teacher). In recent years, PDA has attracted increasing clinical attention mainly in the United Kingdom and Northern Europe, but little is known in France. Its validity as well as its place in the nosography are still being debated. E. Newson considered PDA to be a specific pervasive developmental disorder while other clinicians classified it in autism spectrum disorders (ASD). It remains true that PDA is a real clinical problem that imposes a therapeutic challenge: the need for these subjects to control the relationship makes it very difficult to treat. In this article, we illustrate the cardinal signs of this syndrome with a clinical case to facilitate its recognition. We discuss two differential diagnoses: oppositional defiant disorder and ASD. We found that the autistic psychopathy described by Hans Asperger resembles PDA. The interest of E. Newson's work is to highlight the affective and emotional presentation of the symptoms not described in DSM-5 which only emphasizes the deficits of social cognition (deficits in socio-emotional reciprocity, non-verbal communication, restricted interests etc.). This paper present a case studies to highlights the importance of renewable and sustainable material to develop a bio lubricant. A research has been done to study the low temperature performance and to investigate the low temperature tribological performance of the palm kernel oil with addition of different percentage PPD (5w%, 10wt%, 20wt% and 30wt %) according ASTM D4172. The main analysis that been done in this research are low temperature performance ability of blended PKO, coefficient of friction (COF), wear scar diameter (WSD), surface roughness and surface profile. The result of the experiment show that for low temperature performance, PKO with 20wt%PPD (A2-20%) and 30wt%PPD (A2-30%) show great performance which can withstand lower temperature (15°). Under low temperature test tribological performance the coefficient of friction (COF) is increase as the starting temperature is lower with A2-30% has the highest COF. For wear scar diameter it can see that palm kernel oil having high wear scar compare to A2-5%, A2-10%, A2-20% and A2-30%, the trend shows that adding PPD successful improve the lubricity performance in terms of wear scar diameter. The low starting temperature slightly has effect the lubricity performance in terms of surface roughness. At 75°C the surface roughness is decreasing from A2-5% to A2-20%. Abrasive wear was the dominant wear mechanism for all sample at all starting temperature and a few adhesive wear were spotted at all test. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Oxytocin (OXT) has been considered as a neuroregulator mediating social behaviors and stress-related disorders. Recent clinical studies suggest that OXT might also act as antidepressant in postpartum depression (PPD) patients, but the mechanism is still unknown. In the present study, we explored the effect of OXT in paraventricular nucleus (PVN) and possible signaling pathway involved in a PPD rat model induced by gestation restraint stress (GRS). PPD rats exhibited depressive-like behaviors with significantly longer immobility time, shorter climbing time, and lower sucrose consumption compared to the control rats. Plasma corticosterone (CORT) level was also higher in PPD rats. While PVN and supraoptic nucleus (SON) are main OXT synthesis regions in the brain, GRS-induced decrease of mRNA and peptide level of OXT was seen only in PVN. The expression of TrkB in PVN was increased in PPD rats. Local injection of OXT (20 ng) into PVN reversed GRS-induced depressive-like behaviors and high plasma CORT level in PPD rats. Moreover, injection of OXT also reversed GRS-induced increase of TrkB in PVN of PPD rats. All those data suggest that OXT plays an antidepressant role by, at least in part, modulating HPA axis via TrkB in PVN of PPD rats. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aims and Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the effect of chlorhexidine (CHX) chip and turmeric chip as a local drug delivery (LDD) agent in the treatment of patients with chronic periodontitis. Materials and Methods: A total of 120 sites with pocket depths 5-8 mm were chosen as a split mouth design at 3 sites in the same patient. Selected sites were randomly divided into three groups to receive CHX chip in addition to scaling and root planing (SRP) in group A, turmeric chip in addition to SRP in group B, and SRP only in group C. Clinical parameters, that is, plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), probing pocket depth (PPD), and relative attachment level (RAL) were recorded at baseline, 1 month, and 3 months interval. Result: On applying statistical analysis, results revealed that there was a significant reduction in all the clinical parameters, that is, PI, GI, PPD, and gain in RAL from baseline to 1 month and 3 months in all the three groups. These results were found to be significantly high in the CHX group and turmeric group than in the SRP group. Also, the results in both the test groups were maintained till the end of the study periods, but SRP group showed a significant deterioration after 1 month as was seen by increase in PPD and decrease in RAL scores after 3 months in the SRP group. Conclusion: Both the treatment modalities with the application of LDD as an adjunct to SRP proved to be equally beneficial in the treatment of chronic periodontitis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Hair dye usage is extremely common all over the world. Hair dyes have been reported to cause a wide range of adverse effects, therefore, the consumer's knowledge about hair dyeing and related side effects are important. Aim: To assess the knowledge, attitude and practices of general population towards the use of hair dyes. Materials and Methods: Two hundred and fifty consecutive persons using hair dyes were enrolled for this questionnaire-based cross-sectional, descriptive study. Results: These 250 patients comprised 141 men (56.4%) and 109 women (43.6%) (M: F 1.29:1), aged between 16 and 74 (mean 47.13) years. The majority, 212 patients (84.8%) were aged between 20-60 years and 66.4% (n=166) belonged to an urban background. When asked about the reason for using hair color, the principle reason was "to look younger" (59.6%, n=149). Most of the respondents were using synthetic hair dye preparations (55.2%, n=138) and when asked about the brand of hair dye being used, 25.2% (n=63) did not know about the brand they were using. When asked about their perception regarding safety of HD, 61% (n=152) respondents agreed that hair dyes are not safe and on being asked about the carcinogenic potential of HD, only 24% (n=60) respondents agreed. When enquired about the safest variety of HD, majority of respondents (52.4%, n=131) believed that plant based hair colors are the safest. When asked about the safety of HD during pregnancy and lactation, 68% (n=168) of the respondents were unaware regarding this aspect. 14.4% of the respondents reported suffering from some adverse effects due to hair dye use but only 11.11% (n=4) of those stopped using hair dyes. Conclusions: There is lack of awareness about the hair dyes and their adverse effects in the general population. There is an urgent need to increase awareness among consumers regarding the adverse effects of hair dyes and the available safer alternatives. Ginsenosides are the major and key components for ginseng to exert its wide and beneficial therapeutic efficacy in clinic. Meanwhile, many ginsenosides and their metabolites showed in vitro an in vivo anti-tumor activity, among which ginsenoside Rb1 has attracted much attention due to its good solubility and amphipathy. In this study, the self-assembly behavior of Rb1 was investigated and the Rb1 nano-assembly could further stabilize or encapsulated hydrophobic drugs such as protopanaxadiol (PPD) and paclitaxel (PTX) to form nanoparticles, based on which, a natural nanoscale drug delivery system, ginsenoside Rb1 stabilized and PTX/PPD co-loaded nanoparticles (GPP NPs) were prepared. The resultant GPP NPs exhibited a small particle size of 126.2 nm, a narrow size distribution (PDI=0.145), and a zeta potential of −27.3 mV. PTX loading content was 11.06% with an encapsulation efficiency of 93.86%. GPP NPs were spherical and stable in normal saline, 5% glucose, PBS, plasma, or on-shelf storage for 7 days. Both PTX and PPD existed in an amorphous state in GPP NPs and were released in a sustained pattern. GPP NPs showed 10-fold higher in vitro anti-tumor activity of than PTX injections. In the in vivo experiment, GPP NPs achieved a much higher tumor inhibition rate than PTX injections (64.95% vs 43.17%, P < 0.01) and certain tumor target ability. In conclusion, GPP NPs had significantly enhanced anti-tumor efficacy and improved tumor microenvironment, thus were promising to be developed into a novel anti-tumor agent for the treatment of breast tumor. In this study, the relation between the thermal environment and the thermal comfort of occupants in a main line vehicle in the summer was investigated. At first, to understand the characteristics of the thermal environment in a main line vehicle, a field survey was conducted by measuring the temperature and humidity in regular passenger services from the morning to the night. The observation range of the temperature was from 23°C to 28°C, and that of the humidity was from 38%rh to 68%rh. Then, to obtain the fundamental data about the occupants’ thermal comfort, a subjective experiment in which 44 subjects in total participated was carried out. The subjects rode a main line vehicle stationed at a rolling stock center, and they experienced the temperature changing approximately in the range observed in the field survey and answered the questionnaires about their thermal comfort. Furthermore, the relationships between the thermal indices called PMV/PPD and the subjective evaluation values were analyzed. As a result, it was indicated that the error of the PPD in predicting the percentage of dissatisfied subjects became large in the range PMV>0, where the effect of the sweat sensation became significant. However, the PPD agreed well with the actual percentage of people who reported to have the feeling of ‘slightly cold’, ‘cold’ or ‘slightly hot’, ‘hot’. Our results suggest that the PPD can be used as an index of the variability of thermal sensation, but not as an index of thermal comfort in a main line vehicle in the summer; in order to use the PPD as an index of thermal comfort all the year around, it should be corrected taking into account the seasonal characteristics of the relation between the PMV and the actual percentage of dissatisfied occupants.

Introducción: Se ha registrado en la última década un aumento en la incidencia de reactivación de tuberculosis latente asociada al uso de inhibidores del factor de necrosis tumoral alfa (TNF-α), en particular con el infliximab (Remicade®). Estos agentes biológicos cada vez se emplean con mayor frecuencia para el control inflamatorio de enfermedades inmunes. Caso clínico: Se presenta el caso de un varón de 30 años de edad con diagnóstico de artritis idiopática juvenil (AIJ), quien al iniciar tratamiento con infliximab desarrolló tuberculosis extrapulmonar (intestinal) diagnosticada mediante biopsia de ganglios mesentéricos y epiplón, requiriendo tratamiento antituberculoso. Además presentó inflamación intraocular no asociada a AIJ, atribuida a reactivación de tuberculosis, en forma de vitreítis e inflamación granulomatosa en cámara anterior caracterizada por precipitados retroqueráticos grandes. Conclusión: Es indispensable realizar pruebas de escrutinio para tuberculosis latente antes de iniciar tratamiento con agentes biológicos anti-TNF-α, particularmente con infliximab. Las pruebas que miden la producción de interferón gamma (IFN-γ) in vitro en respuesta a los antígenos tuberculosos son una alternativa a la prueba cutánea clásica con tuberculina (PPD) en la detección de tuberculosis, particularmente en individuos vacunados con el bacilo de Calmette-Guérin (BCG).

Indoor air quality (IAQ) is one of the most important elements affecting a building user’s comfort and satisfaction. Currently, many methods of assessing the quality of indoor air have been described in the literature. In the authors’ opinion, the methods presented have not been collected, systematized, and organized into one multi-component model. The application purpose of the assessment is extremely important when choosing IAQ model. This article provides the state-of-the-art overview on IAQ methodology and attempts to systematize approach. Sub-models of the processes that impact indoor air quality, which can be distinguished as components of the IAQ model, are selected and presented based on sensory satisfaction functions. Subcomponents of three potential IAQ models were classified according to their application potential: IAQ quality index, IAQ comfort index, and an overall health and comfort index. The authors provide a method for using the combined IAQ index to determine the indoor environmental quality index, IEQ. In addition, the article presents a method for adjusting the weights of particular subcomponents and a practical case study which provides IAQ and IEQ model implementation for a large office building assessment (with a BREEAM rating of excellent).
