151. Keep It Simple: Towards Accurate Vulnerability Detection for Large Code Graphs

Abstract: Software vulnerability detection is crucial for high-quality software development. Recently, some studies utilizing Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) to learn the graph representation of code in vulnerability detection tasks have achieved remarkable success. However, existing graph-based approaches mainly face two limitations that prevent them from generalizing well to large code graphs: (1) the interference of noise information in the code graph; (2) the difficulty in capturing long-distance dependencies within the graph. To mitigate these problems, we propose a novel vulnerability detection method, ANGLE, whose novelty mainly embodies the hierarchical graph refinement and context-aware graph representation learning. The former hierarchically filters redundant information in the code graph, thereby reducing the size of the graph, while the latter collaboratively employs the Graph Transformer and GNN to learn code graph representations from both the global and local perspectives, thus capturing long-distance dependencies. Extensive experiments demonstrate promising results on three widely used benchmark datasets: our method significantly outperforms several other baselines in terms of the accuracy and F1 score. Particularly, in large code graphs, ANGLE achieves an improvement in accuracy of 34.27%-161.93% compared to the state-of-the-art method, AMPLE. 152. Model Order Reduction of Large-Scale Wind Farms: A Data-Driven Approach

Abstract: This paper proposes a data-driven algorithm for model order reduction (MOR) of large-scale wind farms and studies the effects that the obtained reduced-order model (ROM) has when this is integrated into the power grid. With respect to standard MOR methods, the proposed algorithm has the advantages of having low computational complexity and not requiring any knowledge of the high order model. Using time-domain measurements, the obtained ROM achieves the moment matching conditions at selected interpolation points (frequencies). With respect to the state of the art, the method achieves the so-called two-sided moment matching, doubling the accuracy by doubling the interpolated points. The proposed algorithm is validated on a combined model of a 200-turbine wind farm (which is reduced) interconnected to the IEEE 14-bus system (which represents the unreduced study area) by comparing the full-order model and the reduced-order model in terms of their Bode plots, eigenvalues and the point of common coupling voltages in extensive fault scenarios of the integrated power system., Comment: This article has been accepted for publication by IEEE Transactions on Power Systems

153. Low-Resource Fast Text Classification Based on Intra-Class and Inter-Class Distance Calculation

Abstract: In recent years, text classification methods based on neural networks and pre-trained models have gained increasing attention and demonstrated excellent performance. However, these methods still have some limitations in practical applications: (1) They typically focus only on the matching similarity between sentences. However, there exists implicit high-value information both within sentences of the same class and across different classes, which is very crucial for classification tasks. (2) Existing methods such as pre-trained language models and graph-based approaches often consume substantial memory for training and text-graph construction. (3) Although some low-resource methods can achieve good performance, they often suffer from excessively long processing times. To address these challenges, we propose a low-resource and fast text classification model called LFTC. Our approach begins by constructing a compressor list for each class to fully mine the regularity information within intra-class data. We then remove redundant information irrelevant to the target classification to reduce processing time. Finally, we compute the similarity distance between text pairs for classification. We evaluate LFTC on 9 publicly available benchmark datasets, and the results demonstrate significant improvements in performance and processing time, especially under limited computational and data resources, highlighting its superior advantages.

154. A Differentiable Wave Optics Model for End-to-End Computational Imaging System Optimization

Abstract: End-to-end optimization, which simultaneously optimizes optics and algorithms, has emerged as a powerful data-driven method for computational imaging system design. This method achieves joint optimization through backpropagation by incorporating differentiable optics simulators to generate measurements and algorithms to extract information from measurements. However, due to high computational costs, it is challenging to model both aberration and diffraction in light transport for end-to-end optimization of compound optics. Therefore, most existing methods compromise physical accuracy by neglecting wave optics effects or off-axis aberrations, which raises concerns about the robustness of the resulting designs. In this paper, we propose a differentiable optics simulator that efficiently models both aberration and diffraction for compound optics. Using the simulator, we conduct end-to-end optimization on scene reconstruction and classification. Experimental results demonstrate that both lenses and algorithms adopt different configurations depending on whether wave optics is modeled. We also show that systems optimized without wave optics suffer from performance degradation when wave optics effects are introduced during testing. These findings underscore the importance of accurate wave optics modeling in optimizing imaging systems for robust, high-performance applications.

155. AgentTrek: Agent Trajectory Synthesis via Guiding Replay with Web Tutorials

Abstract: Graphical User Interface (GUI) agents hold great potential for automating complex tasks across diverse digital environments, from web applications to desktop software. However, the development of such agents is hindered by the lack of high-quality, multi-step trajectory data required for effective training. Existing approaches rely on expensive and labor-intensive human annotation, making them unsustainable at scale. To address this challenge, we propose AgentTrek, a scalable data synthesis pipeline that generates high-quality GUI agent trajectories by leveraging web tutorials. Our method automatically gathers tutorial-like texts from the internet, transforms them into task goals with step-by-step instructions, and employs a visual-language model agent to simulate their execution in a real digital environment. A VLM-based evaluator ensures the correctness of the generated trajectories. We demonstrate that training GUI agents with these synthesized trajectories significantly improves their grounding and planning performance over the current models. Moreover, our approach is more cost-efficient compared to traditional human annotation methods. Abstract: We present the first widefield extragalactic continuum catalogue with the MeerKAT S-band (2.5 GHz), of the radio-selected DEEP2 field. The combined image over the S1 (1.96 - 2.84 GHz) and S4 (2.62 - 3.50 GHz) sub-bands has an angular resolution of 6.8''$\times$3.6'' (4.0''$\times$2.4'') at a robust weighting of $R = 0.3$ ($R=-0.5$) and a sensitivity of 4.7 (7.5) $\mu$Jy beam$^{-1}$ with an on-source integration time of 70 minutes and a minimum of 52 of the 64 antennas, for respective observations. We present the differential source counts for this field, as well as a morphological comparison of resolved sources between S-band and archival MeerKAT L-band images. We find consistent source counts with the literature and provide spectral indices fitted over a combined frequency range of 1.8 GHz. 157. LIVE-GS: LLM Powers Interactive VR by Enhancing Gaussian Splatting

Abstract: Recently, radiance field rendering, such as 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), has shown immense potential in VR content creation due to its high-quality rendering and efficient production process. However, existing physics-based interaction systems for 3DGS can only perform simple and non-realistic simulations or demand extensive user input for complex scenes, primarily due to the absence of scene understanding. In this paper, we propose LIVE-GS, a highly realistic interactive VR system powered by LLM. After object-aware GS reconstruction, we prompt GPT-4o to analyze the physical properties of objects in the scene, which are used to guide physical simulations consistent with real phenomena. We also design a GPT-assisted GS inpainting module to fill the unseen area covered by manipulative objects. To perform a precise segmentation of Gaussian kernels, we propose a feature-mask segmentation strategy. To enable rich interaction, we further propose a computationally efficient physical simulation framework through an PBD-based unified interpolation method, supporting various physical forms such as rigid body, soft body, and granular materials. Our experimental results show that with the help of LLM's understanding and enhancement of scenes, our VR system can support complex and realistic interactions without additional manual design and annotation.

158. Multi-GraspLLM: A Multimodal LLM for Multi-Hand Semantic Guided Grasp Generation

Abstract: Multi-hand semantic grasp generation aims to generate feasible and semantically appropriate grasp poses for different robotic hands based on natural language instructions. Although the task is highly valuable, due to the lack of multi-hand grasp datasets with fine-grained contact description between robotic hands and objects, it is still a long-standing difficult task. In this paper, we present Multi-GraspSet, the first large-scale multi-hand grasp dataset with automatically contact annotations. Based on Multi-GraspSet, we propose Multi-GraspLLM, a unified language-guided grasp generation framework. It leverages large language models (LLM) to handle variable-length sequences, generating grasp poses for diverse robotic hands in a single unified architecture. Multi-GraspLLM first aligns the encoded point cloud features and text features into a unified semantic space. It then generates grasp bin tokens which are subsequently converted into grasp pose for each robotic hand via hand-aware linear mapping. 159. RIS-aided Wireless-Powered Backscatter Communications for Sustainable Internet of Underground Things

Abstract: Wireless-powered underground sensor networks (WPUSNs), which enable wireless energy transfer to sensors located underground, is a promising approach for establishing sustainable internet of underground things (IoUT). To support urgent information transmission and improve resource utilization within WPUSNs, backscatter communication (BC) is introduced, resulting in what is known as wireless-powered backscatter underground sensor networks (WPBUSNs). Nevertheless, the performance of WPBUSNs is significantly limited by severe channel impairments caused by the underground soil and the blockage of direct links. To overcome this challenge, in this work, we propose integrating reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) with WPBUSNs, leading to the development of RIS-aided WPBUSNs. We begin by reviewing the recent advancements in BC-WPUSNs and RIS. Then, we propose a general architecture of RIS-aided WPBUSNs across various IoUT scenarios, and discuss its advantages and implementation challenges. To illustrate the effectiveness of RIS-aided WPBUSNs, we focus on a realistic farming case study, demonstrating that our proposed framework outperforms the three benchmarks in terms of the sum throughput. 160. On the Bargmann invariants for quantum imaginarity

Abstract: The imaginary in quantum theory plays a crucial role in describing quantum coherence and is widely applied in quantum information tasks such as state discrimination, pseudorandomness generation, and quantum metrology. A recent paper by Fernandes et al. [C. Fernandes, R. Wagner, L. Novo, and E. F. Galv\~ao, Phys. Rev. Lett. 133, 190201 (2024) ] showed how to use the Bargmann invariant to witness the imaginarity of a set of quantum states. In this work, we delve into the structure of Bargmann invariants and their quantum realization in qubit systems. First, we present a characterization of special sets of Bargmann invariants (also studied by Fernandes et al. for a set of four states) for a general set of $n$ quantum states. Then, we study the properties of the relevant Bargmann invariant set $\mathcal{B}_n$ and its quantum realization in qubit systems. In this study, we address this challenge by reformulating the problem of angle-of-arrival (AoA) estimation into image reconstruction of spatial spectrum. To this end, we design a model-driven deep neural network (MoD-DNN), which can automatically calibrate the angular-dependent phase error. The proposed MoD-DNN approach employs an iterative optimization scheme between a convolutional neural network and a sparse conjugate gradient algorithm. Abstract: The rapid development of next-generation networking technologies underscores their transformative role in revolutionizing modern communication systems, enabling faster, more reliable, and highly interconnected solutions. However, such development has also brought challenges to network optimizations. Thanks to the emergence of Large Language Models (LLMs) in recent years, tools including Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) have been developed and applied in various fields including networking, and have shown their effectiveness. Taking one step further, the integration of knowledge graphs into RAG frameworks further enhanced the performance of RAG in networking applications such as Intent-Driven Networks (IDNs) and spectrum knowledge maps by providing more contextually relevant responses through more accurate retrieval of related network information. This paper introduces the RAG framework that integrates knowledge graphs in its database and explores such framework's application in networking. We begin by exploring RAG's applications in networking and the limitations of conventional RAG and present the advantages that knowledge graphs' structured knowledge representation brings to the retrieval and generation processes. Next, we propose a detailed GraphRAG-based framework for networking, including a step-by-step tutorial on its construction. Our evaluation through a case study on channel gain prediction demonstrates GraphRAG's enhanced capability in generating accurate, contextually rich responses, surpassing traditional RAG models. 164. Exploring What Why and How: A Multifaceted Benchmark for Causation Understanding of Video Anomaly

Abstract: Recent advancements in video anomaly understanding (VAU) have opened the door to groundbreaking applications in various fields, such as traffic monitoring and industrial automation. While the current benchmarks in VAU predominantly emphasize the detection and localization of anomalies. Here, we endeavor to delve deeper into the practical aspects of VAU by addressing the essential questions: "what anomaly occurred?", "why did it happen?", and "how severe is this abnormal event?". In pursuit of these answers, we introduce a comprehensive benchmark for Exploring the Causation of Video Anomalies (ECVA). Our benchmark is meticulously designed, with each video accompanied by detailed human annotations. Specifically, each instance of our ECVA involves three sets of human annotations to indicate "what", "why" and "how" of an anomaly, including 1) anomaly type, start and end times, and event descriptions, 2) natural language explanations for the cause of an anomaly, and 3) free text reflecting the effect of the abnormality. Building upon this foundation, we propose a novel prompt-based methodology that serves as a baseline for tackling the intricate challenges posed by ECVA. We utilize "hard prompt" to guide the model to focus on the critical parts related to video anomaly segments, and "soft prompt" to establish temporal and spatial relationships within these anomaly segments. Furthermore, we propose AnomEval, a specialized evaluation metric crafted to align closely with human judgment criteria for ECVA. This metric leverages the unique features of the ECVA dataset to provide a more comprehensive and reliable assessment of various video large language models. 165. Electron microscopy and spectroscopy investigation of atomic, electronic, and phonon structures of NdNiO2/SrTiO3 interface

Abstract: The infinite-layer nickelates, proposed as analogs to superconducting cuprates, provide a promising platform for exploring the mechanisms of unconventional superconductivity. However, the superconductivity under atmospheric pressure has only been observed in thin films, indicating the heterointerface is essential. Here, we employed the advanced Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy-Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (STEM-EELS) technique to thoroughly investigate the atomic configuration, layer-resolved electronic states and phonon across the NdNiO2/SrTiO3 interface. We found the Sr atoms diffusion at the interface, which results in hole doping into oxygen and nickel band to form a p-type interface. A pronounced redshift of the highest-energy optical phonon (HEOP) of NdNiO2 (~78 meV) is observed at the interface, which is primarily attributed to the epitaxial strain. Our work clarifies that the effects of the interface on electron and phonon states are mainly due to elemental intermixing and epitaxial strain, which could lay the foundation for future investigations into superconducting mechanisms of infinite-layer nickelates.

With utility of multi-view sensing and multi-node joint transmission, cell-free is a promising technique to realize this prospect. This paper aims to tackle the problem of access point (AP) deployment in cell-free systems to balance the sensing accuracy and user rate. By merging the D-optimality with Euclidean criterion, a novel integrated metric is proposed to be the objective function for both max-sum and max-min problems, which respectively guarantee the overall and lowest performance in multi-user communication and target tracking scenario. To solve the corresponding high dimensional non-convex multi-objective problem, the Soft actor-critic (SAC) is utilized to avoid risk of local optimal result. 168. The Impact of Halo Radius Definition on Subhalo Occupation Variation

Abstract: Dark Matter halo properties have been studied extensively within the virial radius of host halo systems, and previous research shows that there are correlations between host halo properties and subhalo occupation. This work explores how the correlation would change when one extends the definition of subhalo occupation out to 1.5 Mpc for Milky Way-mass host halos. We compute the correlations between four host halo properties (half-mass scale, concentration, peak-mass scale, and spin) and subhalo occupation with varying halo radius definitions. We find that the host halo properties impact satellite occupation beyond the virial radius and the locations at which the correlation peaks do not typically align with the virial radius or splashback radius. The behavior of the subhalo occupation variation as a function of radius, especially in the outskirts, is connected to the effect of halo assembly bias. However, there is no universal behavior in the subhalo occupation variation as the halo radius definition changes. We further find that using a ratio of the number of subhalos within an individual host system rather than total number counts can, to some extent, eliminate its concentration dependence. This method shows promise for using observed satellite counts to estimate host halo mass. By integrating a bottom-up demand resource energy analysis model and a top-down decomposition method, this study is the first to conduct a state-level analysis of carbon emission trends and the corresponding decarbonization efforts for residential space cooling in urban and rural India from 2000 to 2022. The results indicate that (1) the carbon intensity of residential space cooling in India increased by 292.4% from 2000 to 2022, reaching 513.8 kilograms of carbon dioxide per household. The net state domestic product per capita, representing income, emerged as the primary positive contributor. (2) The increase in carbon emissions from space cooling can be primarily attributed to the use of fans. While fan-based space cooling has nearly saturated Indian urban households, it is anticipated to persist as the primary cooling method in rural households for decades. (3) States with higher decarbonization potential are concentrated in two categories: those with high household income and substantial cooling appliance ownership and those with pronounced unmet cooling demand but low household income and hot climates. Furthermore, it is believed that promoting energy-efficient building designs can be prioritized to achieve affordable space cooling. Overall, this study serves as an effective foundation for formulating and promoting India's future cooling action plan, addressing the country's rising residential cooling demands and striving toward its net-zero goal by 2070.

171. Fearless Unsafe. A More User-friendly Document for Unsafe Rust Programming Base on Refined Safety Properties

Abstract: Rust, a popular systems-level programming language, has garnered widespread attention due to its features of achieving run-time efficiency and memory safety. With an increasing number of real-world projects adopting Rust, understanding how to assist programmers in correctly writing unsafe code poses a significant challenge. Based on our observations, the current standard library has many unsafe APIs, but their descriptions are not uniform, complete, and intuitive, especially in describing safety requirements. Therefore, we advocate establishing a systematic category of safety requirements for revising those documents. In this paper, we extended and refined our study in ICSE 2024. We defined a category of Safety Properties (22 items in total) that learned from the documents of unsafe APIs in the standard library. Then, we labeled all public unsafe APIs (438 in total) and analyzed their correlations. Based on the safety properties, we reorganized all the unsafe documents in the standard library and designed a consultation plugin into rust-analyzer as a complementary tool to assist Rust developers in writing unsafe code. Abstract: We study the perception of color illusions by vision-language models. Color illusion, where a person's visual system perceives color differently from actual color, is well-studied in human vision. However, it remains underexplored whether vision-language models (VLMs), trained on large-scale human data, exhibit similar perceptual biases when confronted with such color illusions. We propose an automated framework for generating color illusion images, resulting in RCID (Realistic Color Illusion Dataset), a dataset of 19,000 realistic illusion images. Our experiments show that all studied VLMs exhibit perceptual biases similar human vision. Finally, we train a model to distinguish both human perception and actual pixel differences.

173. Metallicity Dependence of Giant Planets around M Dwarfs

Abstract: We investigate the stellar metallicity ([Fe/H] and [M/H]) dependence of giant planets around M dwarfs by comparing the metallicity distribution of 746 field M dwarfs without known giant planets with a sample of 22 M dwarfs hosting confirmed giant planets. All metallicity measurements are homogeneously obtained through the same methodology based on the near-infrared spectra collected with a single instrument SpeX mounted on the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility. We find that 1) giant planets favor metal-rich M dwarfs at a 4-5$\sigma$ confidence level, depending on the band of spectra used to derive metallicity; 2) hot ($a/R_\ast\leq 20$) and warm ($a/R_\ast> 20$) Jupiters do not show a significant difference in the metallicity distribution. Our results suggest that giant planets around M and FGK stars, which are already known to prefer metal-rich hosts, probably have a similar formation channel. In particular, hot and warm Jupiters around M dwarfs may have the same origin as they have indistinguishable metallicity distributions. With the refined stellar and planetary parameters, we examine the stellar metallicities and the masses of giant planets where we find no significant correlation. M dwarfs with multiple giant planets or with a single giant planet have similar stellar metallicities. Abstract: Recent advancements in Large Multi-modal Models (LMMs) underscore the importance of scaling by increasing image-text paired data, achieving impressive performance on general tasks. Despite their effectiveness in broad applications, generalist models are primarily trained on web-scale datasets dominated by natural images, resulting in the sacrifice of specialized capabilities for domain-specific tasks that require extensive domain prior knowledge. Moreover, directly integrating expert models tailored for specific domains is challenging due to the representational gap and imbalanced optimization between the generalist model and experts. To address these challenges, we introduce Chimera, a scalable and low-cost multi-modal pipeline designed to boost the ability of existing LMMs with domain-specific experts. Specifically, we design a progressive training strategy to integrate features from expert models into the input of a generalist LMM. To address the imbalanced optimization caused by the well-aligned general visual encoder, we introduce a novel Generalist-Specialist Collaboration Masking (GSCM) mechanism. Abstract: Thyroid nodule segmentation in ultrasound images is crucial for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. However, existing methods face challenges in segmentation accuracy, interpretability, and generalization, which hinder their performance. This letter proposes a novel framework, CLIP-TNseg, to address these issues by integrating a multimodal large model with a neural network architecture. CLIP-TNseg consists of two main branches: the Coarse-grained Branch, which extracts high-level semantic features from a frozen CLIP model, and the Fine-grained Branch, which captures fine-grained features using U-Net style residual blocks. These features are fused and processed by the prediction head to generate precise segmentation maps. CLIP-TNseg leverages the Coarse-grained Branch to enhance semantic understanding through textual and high-level visual features, while the Fine-grained Branch refines spatial details, enabling precise and robust segmentation. 176. DRL4AOI: A DRL Framework for Semantic-aware AOI Segmentation in Location-Based Services

Abstract: In Location-Based Services (LBS), such as food delivery, a fundamental task is segmenting Areas of Interest (AOIs), aiming at partitioning the urban geographical spaces into non-overlapping regions. Traditional AOI segmentation algorithms primarily rely on road networks to partition urban areas. While promising in modeling the geo-semantics, road network-based models overlooked the service-semantic goals (e.g., workload equality) in LBS service. In this paper, we point out that the AOI segmentation problem can be naturally formulated as a Markov Decision Process (MDP), which gradually chooses a nearby AOI for each grid in the current AOI's border. Based on the MDP, we present the first attempt to generalize Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) for AOI segmentation, leading to a novel DRL-based framework called DRL4AOI. The DRL4AOI framework introduces different service-semantic goals in a flexible way by treating them as rewards that guide the AOI generation. To evaluate the effectiveness of DRL4AOI, we develop and release an AOI segmentation system. We also present a representative implementation of DRL4AOI - TrajRL4AOI - for AOI segmentation in the logistics service. It introduces a Double Deep Q-learning Network (DDQN) to gradually optimize the AOI generation for two specific semantic goals: i) trajectory modularity, i.e., maximize tightness of the trajectory connections within an AOI and the sparsity of connections between AOIs, ii) matchness with the road network, i.e., maximizing the matchness between AOIs and the road network. Abstract: Large language models (LLMs) have made dialogue one of the central modes in human-machine interaction, leading to the vast amounts of conversation logs and increasing demand for dialogue generation. The dialogue's life-cycle spans from the $\textit{Prelude}$ through the $\textit{Interlocution}$ to the $\textit{Epilogue}$, encompassing rich dialogue elements. Despite the large volumes of dialogue-related studies, there is a lack of benchmark that encompasses comprehensive dialogue elements, which hinders precise modeling, generation and systematic evaluation. To bridge this gap, in this paper, we introduce a new research task $\textbf{D}$ialogue $\textbf{E}$lement $\textbf{MO}$deling, including $\textit{Element Awareness}$ and $\textit{Dialogue Agent Interaction}$, and propose a novel benchmark, $\textbf{DEMO}$, designed for a comprehensive dialogue modeling and assessment. On this basis, we further build the DEMO agent with the adept ability to model dialogue elements via imitation learning. 178. Origin of Increased Curie Temperature in Lithium-Substituted Ferroelectric Niobate Perovskite: Enhancement of the Soft Polar Mode

Abstract: The functionality of ferroelectrics is often constrained by their Curie temperature, above which depolarization occurs. Lithium (Li) is the only experimentally known substitute that can increase the Curie temperature in ferroelectric niobate-based perovskites, yet the mechanism remains unresolved. Here, the unique phenomenon in Li-substituted KNbO3 is investigated using first-principles density functional theory. Theoretical calculations show that Li substitution at the A-site of perovskite introduces compressive chemical pressure, reducing Nb-O hybridization and associated ferroelectric instability. However, the large off-center displacement of the Li cation compensates for this reduction and further enhances the soft polar mode, thereby raising the Curie temperature. In addition, the stability of the tetragonal phase over the orthorhombic phase is predicted upon Li substitution, which reasonably explains the experimental observation of a decreased orthorhombic-to-tetragonal phase transition temperature. Finally, a metastable anti-phase polar state in which the Li cation displaces oppositely to the Nb cation is revealed, which could also contribute to the variation of phase transition temperatures. These findings provide critical insights into the atomic-scale mechanisms governing Curie temperature enhancement in ferroelectrics and pave the way for designing advanced ferroelectric materials with improved thermal stability and functional performance.

179. Providing Differential Privacy for Federated Learning Over Wireless: A Cross-layer Framework

Abstract: Federated Learning (FL) is a distributed machine learning framework that inherently allows edge devices to maintain their local training data, thus providing some level of privacy. However, FL's model updates still pose a risk of privacy leakage, which must be mitigated. Over-the-air FL (OTA-FL) is an adapted FL design for wireless edge networks that leverages the natural superposition property of the wireless medium. We propose a wireless physical layer (PHY) design for OTA-FL which improves differential privacy (DP) through a decentralized, dynamic power control that utilizes both inherent Gaussian noise in the wireless channel and a cooperative jammer (CJ) for additional artificial noise generation when higher privacy levels are required. Although primarily implemented within the Upcycled-FL framework, where a resource-efficient method with first-order approximations is used at every even iteration to decrease the required information from clients, our power control strategy is applicable to any FL framework, including FedAvg and FedProx as shown in the paper. This adaptation showcases the flexibility and effectiveness of our design across different learning algorithms while maintaining a strong emphasis on privacy. Our design removes the need for client-side artificial noise injection for DP, utilizing a cooperative jammer to enhance privacy without affecting transmission efficiency for higher privacy demands. Privacy analysis is provided using the Moments Accountant method. We perform a convergence analysis for non-convex objectives to tackle heterogeneous data distributions, highlighting the inherent trade-offs between privacy and accuracy. Numerical results show that our approach with various FL algorithms outperforms the state-of-the-art under the same DP conditions on the non-i.i.d. 180. PoTable: Programming Standardly on Table-based Reasoning Like a Human Analyst

Abstract: Table-based reasoning has garnered substantial research interest, particularly in its integration with Large Language Model (LLM) which has revolutionized the general reasoning paradigm. Numerous LLM-based studies introduce symbolic tools (e.g., databases, Python) as assistants to extend human-like abilities in structured table understanding and complex arithmetic computations. However, these studies can be improved better in simulating human cognitive behavior when using symbolic tools, as they still suffer from limitations of non-standard logical splits and constrained operation pools. In this study, we propose PoTable as a novel table-based reasoning method that simulates a human tabular analyst, which integrates a Python interpreter as the real-time executor accompanied by an LLM-based operation planner and code generator. Specifically, PoTable follows a human-like logical stage split and extends the operation pool into an open-world space without any constraints. Through planning and executing in each distinct stage, PoTable standardly completes the entire reasoning process and produces superior reasoning results along with highly accurate, steply commented and completely executable programs. Accordingly, the effectiveness and explainability of PoTable are fully demonstrated. Extensive experiments over three evaluation datasets from two public benchmarks on two backbones show the outstanding performance of our approach. 181. Integrated Sensing and Communications for Low-Altitude Economy: A Deep Reinforcement Learning Approach

Abstract: This paper studies an integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) system for low-altitude economy (LAE), where a ground base station (GBS) provides communication and navigation services for authorized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), while sensing the low-altitude airspace to monitor the unauthorized mobile target. The expected communication sum-rate over a given flight period is maximized by jointly optimizing the beamforming at the GBS and UAVs' trajectories, subject to the constraints on the average signal-to-noise ratio requirement for sensing, the flight mission and collision avoidance of UAVs, as well as the maximum transmit power at the GBS. Typically, this is a sequential decision-making problem with the given flight mission. Thus, we transform it to a specific Markov decision process (MDP) model called episode task. Based on this modeling, we propose a novel LAE-oriented ISAC scheme, referred to as Deep LAE-ISAC (DeepLSC), by leveraging the deep reinforcement learning (DRL) technique. In DeepLSC, a reward function and a new action selection policy termed constrained noise-exploration policy are judiciously designed to fulfill various constraints. To enable efficient learning in episode tasks, we develop a hierarchical experience replay mechanism, where the gist is to employ all experiences generated within each episode to jointly train the neural network. Besides, to enhance the convergence speed of DeepLSC, a symmetric experience augmentation mechanism, which simultaneously permutes the indexes of all variables to enrich available experience sets, is proposed. Abstract: In complex physical systems, conventional differential equations often fall short in capturing non-local and memory effects, as they are limited to local dynamics and integer-order interactions. This study introduces a stepwise data-driven framework for discovering fractional differential equations (FDEs) directly from data. FDEs, known for their capacity to model non-local dynamics with fewer parameters than integer-order derivatives, can represent complex systems with long-range interactions. Our framework applies deep neural networks as surrogate models for denoising and reconstructing sparse and noisy observations while using Gaussian-Jacobi quadrature to handle the challenges posed by singularities in fractional derivatives. To optimize both the sparse coefficients and fractional order, we employ an alternating optimization approach that combines sparse regression with global optimization techniques. We validate the framework across various datasets, including synthetic anomalous diffusion data, experimental data on the creep behavior of frozen soils, and single-particle trajectories modeled by L\'{e}vy motion. Results demonstrate the framework's robustness in identifying the structure of FDEs across diverse noise levels and its capacity to capture integer-order dynamics, offering a flexible approach for modeling memory effects in complex systems.

183. Adaptive Personalized Over-the-Air Federated Learning with Reflecting Intelligent Surfaces

Abstract: Over-the-air federated learning (OTA-FL) unifies communication and model aggregation by leveraging the inherent superposition property of the wireless medium. This strategy can enable scalable and bandwidth-efficient learning via simultaneous transmission of model updates using the same frequency resources, if care is exercised to design the physical layer jointly with learning. In this paper, a federated learning system facilitated by a heterogeneous edge-intelligent network is considered. The edge users (clients) have differing user resources and non-i.i.d. local dataset distributions. A general non-convex learning objective is considered for the model training task(s) at hand. We augment the network with Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) in order to enhance the learning system. We propose a cross-layer algorithm that jointly assigns communication, computation and learning resources. In particular, we adaptively adjust the number of local steps in conjunction with RIS configuration to boost the learning performance. Our system model considers channel noise and channel estimation errors in both the uplink (model updates) and downlink (global model broadcast), employing dynamic power control for both. We provide the convergence analysis for the proposed algorithms and extend the frameworks to personalized learning. Abstract: Pre-training Large Language Models (LLMs) on high-quality, meticulously curated datasets is widely recognized as critical for enhancing their performance and generalization capabilities. This study explores the untapped potential of Common Crawl as a comprehensive and flexible resource for pre-training LLMs, addressing both general-purpose language understanding and specialized domain knowledge. We introduce RedStone, an innovative and scalable pipeline engineered to extract and process data from Common Crawl, facilitating the creation of extensive and varied pre-training datasets. Unlike traditional datasets, which often require expensive curation and domain-specific expertise, RedStone leverages the breadth of Common Crawl to deliver datasets tailored to a wide array of domains. In this work, we exemplify its capability by constructing pre-training datasets across multiple fields, including general language understanding, code, mathematics, and question-answering tasks. The flexibility of RedStone allows for easy adaptation to other specialized domains, significantly lowering the barrier to creating valuable domain-specific datasets. Our findings demonstrate that Common Crawl, when harnessed through effective pipelines like RedStone, can serve as a rich, renewable source of pre-training data, unlocking new avenues for domain adaptation and knowledge discovery in LLMs. This work also underscores the importance of innovative data acquisition strategies and highlights the role of web-scale data as a powerful resource in the continued evolution of LLMs. RedStone code and data samples will be publicly available at \url{https://aka.ms/redstone}.

185. Matryoshka: Optimization of Dynamic Diverse Quantum Chemistry Systems via Elastic Parallelism Transformation

Abstract: AI infrastructures, predominantly GPUs, have delivered remarkable performance gains for deep learning. Conversely, scientific computing, exemplified by quantum chemistry systems, suffers from dynamic diversity, where computational patterns are more diverse and vary dynamically, posing a significant challenge to sponge acceleration off GPUs. In this paper, we propose Matryoshka, a novel elastically-parallel technique for the efficient execution of quantum chemistry system with dynamic diversity on GPU. Matryoshka capitalizes on Elastic Parallelism Transformation, a property prevalent in scientific systems yet underexplored for dynamic diversity, to elastically realign parallel patterns with GPU architecture. Structured around three transformation primitives (Permutation, Deconstruction, and Combination), Matryoshka encompasses three core components. The Block Constructor serves as the central orchestrator, which reformulates data structures accommodating dynamic inputs and constructs fine-grained GPU-efficient compute blocks. Within each compute block, the Graph Compiler operates offline, generating high-performance code with clear computational path through an automated compilation process. The Workload Allocator dynamically schedules workloads with varying operational intensities to threads online. It achieves highly efficient parallelism for compute-intensive operations and facilitates fusion with neighboring memory-intensive operations automatically. Extensive evaluation shows that Matryoshka effectively addresses dynamic diversity, yielding acceleration improvements of up to 13.86x (average 9.41x) over prevailing state-of-the-art approaches on 13 quantum chemistry systems.

186. Is Foreground Prototype Sufficient? Few-Shot Medical Image Segmentation with Background-Fused Prototype

Abstract: Few-shot Semantic Segmentation(FSS)aim to adapt a pre-trained model to new classes with as few as a single labeled training sample per class. The existing prototypical work used in natural image scenarios biasedly focus on capturing foreground's discrimination while employing a simplistic representation for background, grounded on the inherent observation separation between foreground and background. However, this paradigm is not applicable to medical images where the foreground and background share numerous visual features, necessitating a more detailed description for background. In this paper, we present a new pluggable Background-fused prototype(Bro)approach for FSS in medical images. Instead of finding a commonality of background subjects in support image, Bro incorporates this background with two pivot designs. Specifically, Feature Similarity Calibration(FeaC)initially reduces noise in the support image by employing feature cross-attention with the query image. Subsequently, Hierarchical Channel Adversarial Attention(HiCA)merges the background into comprehensive prototypes. We achieve this by a channel groups-based attention mechanism, where an adversarial Mean-Offset structure encourages a coarse-to-fine fusion. Extensive experiments show that previous state-of-the-art methods, when paired with Bro, experience significant performance improvements. This demonstrates a more integrated way to represent backgrounds specifically for medical image.

187. Vision-based Tactile Image Generation via Contact Condition-guided Diffusion Model

Abstract: Vision-based tactile sensors, through high-resolution optical measurements, can effectively perceive the geometric shape of objects and the force information during the contact process, thus helping robots acquire higher-dimensional tactile data. Vision-based tactile sensor simulation supports the acquisition and understanding of tactile information without physical sensors by accurately capturing and analyzing contact behavior and physical properties. However, the complexity of contact dynamics and lighting modeling limits the accurate reproduction of real sensor responses in simulations, making it difficult to meet the needs of different sensor setups and affecting the reliability and effectiveness of strategy transfer to practical applications. In this letter, we propose a contact-condition guided diffusion model that maps RGB images of objects and contact force data to high-fidelity, detail-rich vision-based tactile sensor images. Evaluations show that the three-channel tactile images generated by this method achieve a 60.58% reduction in mean squared error and a 38.1% reduction in marker displacement error compared to existing approaches based on lighting model and mechanical model, validating the effectiveness of our approach. The method is successfully applied to various types of tactile vision sensors and can effectively generate corresponding tactile images under complex loads. Additionally, it demonstrates outstanding reconstruction of fine texture features of objects in a Montessori tactile board texture generation task.

188. Domain Adaptive Diabetic Retinopathy Grading with Model Absence and Flowing Data

Abstract: Domain shift (the difference between source and target domains) poses a significant challenge in clinical applications, e.g., Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) grading. Despite considering certain clinical requirements, like source data privacy, conventional transfer methods are predominantly model-centered and often struggle to prevent model-targeted attacks. In this paper, we address a challenging Online Model-aGnostic Domain Adaptation (OMG-DA) setting, driven by the demands of clinical environments. This setting is characterized by the absence of the model and the flow of target data. To tackle the new challenge, we propose a novel approach, Generative Unadversarial ExampleS (GUES), which enables adaptation from a data-centric perspective. Specifically, we first theoretically reformulate conventional perturbation optimization in a generative way--learning a perturbation generation function with a latent input variable. During model instantiation, we leverage a Variational AutoEncoder to express this function. The encoder with the reparameterization trick predicts the latent input, whilst the decoder is responsible for the generation. Furthermore, the saliency map is selected as pseudo-perturbation labels. Because it not only captures potential lesions but also theoretically provides an upper bound on the function input, enabling the identification of the latent variable. Extensive comparative experiments on DR benchmarks with both frozen pre-trained models and trainable models demonstrate the superiority of GUES, showing robustness even with small batch size.

Abstract: The semi-supervised learning (SSL) strategy in lightweight models requires reducing annotated samples and facilitating cost-effective inference. However, the constraint on model parameters, imposed by the scarcity of training labels, limits the SSL performance. In this paper, we introduce PS-NET, a novel framework tailored for semi-supervised text mining with lightweight models. PS-NET incorporates online distillation to train lightweight student models by imitating the Teacher model. It also integrates an ensemble of student peers that collaboratively instruct each other. Additionally, PS-NET implements a constant adversarial perturbation schema to further self-augmentation by progressive generalizing. Our PS-NET, equipped with a 2-layer distilled BERT, exhibits notable performance enhancements over SOTA lightweight SSL frameworks of FLiText and DisCo in SSL text classification with extremely rare labelled data.

Abstract: The inclusive cross sections of prompt $J/\psi$ and $\psi(3686)$ production are measured at center-of-mass energies from 3.808 to 4.951 GeV. The dataset used is 22 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. The results obtained are in agreement with the previous BESIII measurements of exclusive $J/\psi$ and $\psi(3686)$ production. The average values obtained for the cross sections measured in the center-of-mass energy ranges from 4.527 to 4.951 GeV for $J/\psi$ and from 4.843 to 4.951 GeV for $\psi(3686)$, where the impact of known resonances is negligible, are $14.0\pm1.7\pm3.1$ pb and $15.3\pm3.0$ pb, respectively. For $J/\psi$, the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. For $\psi(3686)$, the uncertainty is total. Abstract: The process $e^+e^-\to K^0_S K^0_S \psi(3686)$ is studied by analyzing $e^+e^-$ collision data samples collected at eight center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.682 to 4.951 GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $4.1~{\rm fb}^{-1}$. Observation of the $e^+e^-\to K^0_S K^0_S \psi(3686)$ process is found for the first time with a statistical significance of $6.3\sigma$, and the cross sections at each center-of-mass energy are measured. The ratio of cross sections of $e^+e^-\to K_S^0 K_S^0 \psi(3686)$ relative to $e^+e^-\to K^+ K^- \psi(3686)$ is determined to be $\frac{\sigma(e^+e^-\to K_S^0 K_S^0 \psi(3686))}{\sigma(e^+e^-\to K^+ K^- \psi(3686))}=0.45 \pm 0.25$, which is consistent with the prediction based on isospin symmetry. The uncertainty includes both statistical and systematic contributions. Additionally, the $K_S^0\psi(3686)$ invariant mass distribution is found to be consistent with three-body phase space. The significance of a contribution beyond three-body phase space is only $0.8\sigma$.

Abstract: Using $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19 fb$^{-1}$ collected by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.13 to 4.70 GeV, we report the first evidence for a new excited $\Omega^{-}$ hyperon, the $\Omega^*(2109)^{-}$, through the process $e^+ e^- \to \Omega^*(2109)^{-} \bar{\Omega}^{+} +c.c.$ with a significance of 3.7 $\sigma$. The mass and width of $\Omega^*(2109)^{-}$ are measured to be $2108.8 \pm 5.5_{\rm stat} \pm 1.5_{\rm syst} {\rm MeV}/c^{2}$ and $21.6 \pm 17.7_{\rm stat} \pm 9.4_{\rm syst} {\rm MeV}$, respectively. We also present evidence for production of the $\Omega^*(2012)^{-}$ in the process $e^+ e^- \to \Omega^*(2012)^{-} \bar{\Omega}^{+} +c.c.$ with a significance of 3.7 $\sigma$., Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures

Abstract: Using 7.93 ${\rm fb^{-1}}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 ${\rm GeV}$ with the BESIII detector, we present an analysis of the decay $D^{0} \to \eta \pi^- e^+ \nu_{e}$. The branching fraction of the decay $D^{0} \to a_{0}(980)^{-} e^+ \nu_{e}$ with $a_{0}(980)^{-} \to \eta \pi^{-}$ is measured to be $(0.86\pm0.17_{\text{stat}}\pm0.05_{\text{syst}})\times 10^{-4}$. The decay dynamics of this process is studied with a single-pole parameterization of the hadronic form factor and the Flatt\'e formula describing the $a_0(980)$ line shape in the differential decay rate. The product of the form factor $f^{ a_0}_{+}(0)$ and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cd}|$ is determined for the first time with the result $f^{ a_0}_+(0)|V_{cd}|=0.126\pm0.013_{\rm stat}\pm0.003_{\rm syst}$.

Abstract: Using $(10087\pm44)\times 10^{6}$ $J/\psi$ decays collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we search for baryon number violation via $\Lambda-\bar{\Lambda}$ oscillation in the decay $J/\psi \to \Lambda \bar{\Lambda}$. No evidence for $\Lambda-\bar\Lambda$ oscillation is observed. The upper limit on the time-integrated probability of $\Lambda-\bar{\Lambda}$ oscillation is estimated to be $1.4\times 10^{-6}$, corresponding to an oscillation parameter less than $2.1\times 10^{-18}~\mathrm{GeV}$ at $90\%$ confidence level., Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures

Abstract: By analyzing $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data with an integrated luminosity of 7.9~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV, the branching fraction of $D^+\to\tau^+\nu_{\tau}$ is determined as $\mathcal{B}=(9.9\pm 1.1_\mathrm{stat}\pm 0.5_\mathrm{syst})\times10^{-4}$. Taking the most precise result $\mathcal{B}(D^+\to\mu^+\nu_{\mu})=(3.981\pm 0.079_\mathrm{stat}\pm0.040_\mathrm{syst})\times10^{-4}$, we determine $R_{\tau/\mu} = \Gamma(D^+\to\tau^+\nu_{\tau})/\Gamma(D^+\to\mu^+\nu_{\mu})= 2.49\pm0.31$, achieving a factor of two improvement in precision compared to the previous BESIII result. This measurement is in agreement with the standard model prediction of lepton flavor universality within one standard deviation.

Abstract: Using $(27.12\pm0.14) \times 10^{8}$ $\psi(2S)$ events collected by the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII, we search for the decay $\eta_c(2S)\to p\bar{p}$ via the process $\psi(2S)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S)$, and only find a signal with a significance of $1.7\,\sigma$. The upper limit of the product branching fraction at the 90% confidence level is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(\psi(2S)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S))\times \mathcal{B}(\eta_c(2S)\to p\bar{p})<2.4\times 10^{-7}$. The branching fractions of $\chi_{cJ}\to p\bar{p}~(J=0,1,2)$ are also measured to be $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c0}\to p\bar{p})=(2.51\pm0.02\pm0.08)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c1}\to p\bar{p})=(8.16\pm0.09\pm0.25)\times 10^{-4}$, and $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c2}\to p\bar{p})=(8.33\pm0.09\pm0.22)\times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

Abstract: Studies are performed of the Cabibbo-favored decay $\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to\Lambda K_{S}^{0}K^+$ and the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to\Lambda K_{S}^{0}\pi^+$, based on a sample of $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb$^{-1}$, accumulated at center-of-mass energies between $4599.53$ MeV and $4698.82$ MeV with the BESIII detector. The decay $\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to\Lambda K_{S}^{0}\pi^+$ is observed for the first time. The branching fractions of $\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to\Lambda K_{S}^{0}K^+$ and $\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to\Lambda K_{S}^{0}\pi^+$ are measured to be $(3.04\pm0.30\pm0.16)\times 10^{-3}$ and $(1.73\pm0.27\pm0.10)\times 10^{-3}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results correspond to the most precise measurement of these quantities for both decays. Evidence of a $K^{*+}$ contribution in the $\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to\Lambda K_{S}^{0}\pi^+$ decay is found with a statistical significance of $4.7\sigma$. The branching fraction of $\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to\Lambda K^{*+}$ is calculated under three possible interference scenarios.

Abstract: The beta decay of the lightest charmed baryon $\Lambda_c^+$ provides unique insights into the fundamental mechanism of strong and electro-weak interactions, serving as a testbed for investigating non-perturbative quantum chromodynamics and constraining the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix parameters. This article presents the first observation of the Cabibbo-suppressed decay $\Lambda_c^+ \rightarrow n e^+ \nu_{e}$, utilizing $4.5~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of electron-positron annihilation data collected with the BESIII detector. A novel Graph Neural Network based technique effectively separates signals from dominant backgrounds, notably $\Lambda_c^+ \rightarrow \Lambda e^+ \nu_{e}$, achieving a statistical significance exceeding $10\sigma$. The absolute branching fraction is measured to be $(3.57\pm0.34_{\mathrm{stat.}}\pm0.14_{\mathrm{syst.}})\times 10^{-3}$. For the first time, the CKM matrix element $\left|V_{cd}\right|$ is extracted via a charmed baryon decay as $0.208\pm0.011_{\rm exp.}\pm0.007_{\rm LQCD}\pm0.001_{\tau_{\Lambda_c^+}}$. Abstract: Using $(27.12\pm 0.14)\times10^{8}$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the decay $\chi_{c0}\to\Sigma^{+}\bar{\Sigma}^{-}\eta$ is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $7.0\sigma$, and evidence for $\chi_{c1}\to\Sigma^{+}\bar{\Sigma}^{-}\eta$ and $\chi_{c2}\to\Sigma^{+}\bar{\Sigma}^{-}\eta$ is found with statistical significances of $4.3\sigma$ and $4.6\sigma$, respectively. The branching fractions are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c0}\to\Sigma^{+}\bar{\Sigma}^{-}\eta)=({1.26 \pm 0.20 \pm 0.13}) \times 10^{-4}, ~\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c1}\to\Sigma^{+}\bar{\Sigma}^{-}\eta)=({5.10 \pm 1.21 \pm 0.67}) \times 10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c2}\to\Sigma^{+}\bar{\Sigma}^{-}\eta)=({5.46 \pm 1.18 \pm 0.50}) \times 10^{-5}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical, and the second ones are systematic.

Abstract: Utilizing 4.5${~\rm{fb}}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV, the first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $\Lambda_c^{+}\to p\pi^0$ is presented, with a statistical significance of $5.4\sigma$. The ratio of the branching fractions of $\Lambda_c^{+}\to p\pi^0$ and $\Lambda_c^{+}\to p\eta$ is measured as $\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_c^{+}\to p\pi^0)/\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_c^{+}\to p\eta)=(0.120\pm0.026_{\rm stat.}\pm0.007_{\rm syst.})$. This result resolves the longstanding discrepancy between earlier experimental searches, providing both a decisive conclusion and valuable input for QCD-inspired theoretical models. A sophisticated deep learning approach using a Transformer-based architecture is employed to distinguish the signal from the prevalent hadronic backgrounds, complemented by thorough validation and systematic uncertainty quantification., Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures
