About 2 million Syrians of approximately 3.6 million who were forced to immigrate to Turkey due to unfavorable conditions in Syria are composed of adults. In order to maintain Syrians' socio-cultural adaptation and minimize adaptation problems that they experience, their learning Turkish has become a need. As is known, the time that adults can spend on learning languages is much more limited compared to children. As an eclectic approach, blended learning arising as a result of minimizing the disadvantages of face-to-face and online learning and combining the advantageous sides of both is accepted as an appropriate model for adult learners. In the present study, the blended and Quantum learning cycle assisted teaching Turkish as a second language program for adult Syrians (at the age of 17 and above) who are under temporary protection in Turkey will be discussed and learners' contribution to program development process will be presented. In the program, by benefitting from Quantum learning cycle, it has been possible to maintain language learning's being dynamic, easy and long-lasting, and teachers' encouraging learner success, learners' experiencing learning and having the opportunity to practice. Considering the specific features of adult learners, the program content has been aimed to be meaningful for learners. Teacher assessments obtained before the application of the program have been significantly impacted the development of the program and their thoughts after the application has contributed a lot. This study can contribute to the literature on the use of blended learning model in language teaching programs for adults.

Purpose of this study was to examine the internet addiction levels of university students under various variables. In the study, the level of internet addiction was compared with variables such as gender, physical exercise patterns, accommodation preference, marital status of the family, cigarette and alcohol consumption, grade point average, frequently used social media platform type, daily time spent on internet. A total of 250 university students, 78 females and 172 males, with an average age of 21.52 ± 2.88, participated in the study on a voluntary basis. In the research, the 20-clause "Internet Addiction Scale" developed by Young (1998) was used for data collection tool. Results showed that the internet addiction point average of the students participating in the research was below 49 points which falls into without risk zone. However, internet addiction levels varied according to various variables. Within the scope of the study, it would be possible that daily internet use of 8 hours or more may lead to the average of risky internet addiction score, and that students who have smoking or alcohol addiction may be more prone to internet addiction.

Attention deficit is one of the child ailments that most parents worry about. To shed light on this problem, the aim of this survey is to investigate the effects of 6-weeks regular table tennis education on the attention levels of school children. The research was carried out on 11 elementary school students (9.82 [plus or minus] 2.23) who have never got table tennis education before. These children trained by basic table tennis exercises for 6- weeks, two days a week. Bourdon Attention Test, developed by Bourdon (1955), was used before and 6- weeks after starting table tennis training to determine children's attention levels. In order to measure the level of attention, the number of letters that were marked incorrectly and the number of letters not marked were counted. These data were analyzed with paired sample t test. As a result, it was found that 6-weeks of regular table tennis exercises significantly affected the number of not marked characters and affected the level of attention positively (p < 0.05). It was also found that the gender of the children and the type of school in which they were educated had no effect on this result.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to draw reader's attention to the author-space relationship in order to fulfill the theoretical deficiency in terms of space-psychoanalysis in the light of qualitative data. Methods: Qualitative data analysis has been thought to be the best way to deal with the space-psychoanalysis relationship through sampling. In this regard, descriptive analysis and content analysis methods have been adopted. Findings: The author's novel, "Ben Küçük Bir Çocukken [When I Was a Little Boy]", in which he narrates his childhood memories, was taken as the main book. Indoor spaces identified within the space-psychoanalytic context includes ports hall, basement, house-room-barber, airplane, and boarding school. Identified outdoor spaces were the garden, dune, the Zugspitze, city of Berlin, and Europe. The author embedded the moments from real life in his subconscious. The spaces where he had been present in this process of embedding stayed in the back of his mind. When constructing his books, the author reflected the spaces he had experienced and embedded into his subconscious as well as the events and situations he had experienced at those moments in his works. It is also seen that the real life-fiction relationship is not a coincidence because Kästner's real life and novels coincide in terms of space. Space was deemed a kind of symbol of the subconscious. Implications for Research and Practice: Being able to dig deep down into the author's subconscious in author-work reviews helps to understand the work better. Performing such reviews on the subconscious with a space perception may enable attaining clearer results. Understanding an author better also makes it easier to interpret their work.

This study aims to analyze the impact of slackline exercises on the balance skills of university student on their learning. Twenty university student kickboxers voluntarily attended the study (8 women and 12 men). They were randomly divided into two groups (each group four females and six males) as the experimental group (EG) and the control group (CG), each consisting of 10 subjects. CG only followed regular training, while EG applied supervised slackline exercises for two days a week and 10 min sessions in addition to regular training for 4-week. Some tests were done before and after slackline exercises in the evaluation of all participants: counter movement jump, standing long jump, leg strength test, back strength test, static balance test "Stork Stand Balance" (SST) and dynamic balance test. According to the post-test results, the SST values which are the static balance test of EG were significantly higher than the CG. As a result, if slackline exercises, which are organized in addition to the regular training sessions specific to the branch, are applied in more extended periods, it can contribute to the balance skill learning and the balance necessary for performing technical movement.

Ontology and epistemology are two different basic disciplines of philosophy. In the course of philosophy history, the priority given to these two different disciplines varied between antique age and middle age and modern era. For sure, this central change was realized in the basis of the connection made by philosophers with metaphysics. The change in question is of power to influence human life in many aspects. As for education, it is a field prone to such kind of influences. Existentialism and existentialist philosophers are aware of this course of events in the history of philosophy. Kierkegaard is a philosopher coming to the forefront with his different stand in the modern era. The fact that he regards human being as an existence of synthesis and his style of approaching to the field of faith gave him an opportunity to examine philosophical problems on the ground of metaphysics and ontology. In the current study, the change in question will be evaluated with its dimensions reflected on education. Kierkegaard thought will be taken into consideration in order to answer the problem with a more holistic mind instead of producing some solutions-in-pieces. In this sense, related documents will be analysed in line with the above-mentioned problem and with its dimension related to education.

Introduction. Carcinoid tumors are low-grade tumors originating from endoderm and mostly involving the gastrointestinal system. However; they may be seen in any site within the gastrointestinal system. Case Presentation. A 69-year-old female patient. The results of blood tests were observed to be consistent with obstructive jaundice. A mass appearance was not encountered on tomographic examination. Papilla that was tumor-like macroscopically was seen in the second part of the duodenum in diagnostic endoscopy. Pylorus—preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy surgical procedure was applied. On pathological examination of the mass, a tumoral mass was detected in ampulla vateri localization, 1.5 × 1 × 0.8 cm in size, which, in immunohistochemical staining, was evaluated as a neuroendocrine tumor. Also, Metastasis was observed. Conclusion. The rarest type of carcinoid tumor is ampullary located carcinoid tumor, and tumor size is not a reliable indicator for tumor aggressivity in ampullary carcinoid tumors.

We implement genetic algorithm based predictive model building as an alternative to the traditional stepwise regression. We then employ the Information Complexity Measure (ICOMP) as a measure of model fitness instead of the commonly used measure of R-square. Furthermore, we propose some modifications to the genetic algorithm to increase the overall efficiency.

In this study, CAD model of a squid was obtained by taking computer tomography images of a real squid. The model later placed into a computational domain to calculate drag force and performance of jet propulsion. The drag study was performed on the CAD model so that drag force subjected to real squid was revealed at squid’s different swimming speeds and comparison has been made with other underwater creatures (e.g., a dolphin, sea lion and penguin). The drag coefficient (referenced to total wetted surface area) of squid is 0.0042 at Reynolds number 1.6x106 that is a %4.5 difference from Gentoo penguin. Besides, jet flow of squid was simulated to observe the flow region generated in the 2D domain utilizing dynamic mesh method to mimic the movement of squid’s mantle cavity.

IntroductionThe preferred approach for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is transfemoral. There has been widespread adoption of the Perclose ProglideTM device for vascular closure. Typically, two devices are deployed before upsizing the access sheath in the "preclose technique." Prior investigations have compared the use of a single device versus double device technique, but none have shown significant clinical benefit to either approach.MethodsFive hundred and six patients underwent transfemoral TAVR (TF-TAVR) with single or double Perclose devices for vascular closure from July 2015 to February 2020. A retrospective review was conducted, and propensity-matched analyses were used to account for differences in baseline characteristics.ResultsIn the matched analysis, there were 251 patients in the single Perclose group and 238 in the double. There was a statistically significant improvement in overall procedural success using the single closure device (94.6% vs. 88.5%, p = 0.009) This was defined as intraprocedural hemostatic control, lack of contrast extravasation, arterial dissection, occlusion, or stenosis >50% in the final crossover angiogram, as well as unimpaired limb perfusion without claudication throughout the index hospitalization. There was also a significant improvement in arterial dissection rates (0.6% vs. 4.6%, p = 0.004), stenosis >50% (1.3% vs. 4.4%, p = 0.028), and Valve Academic Research Consortium major vascular complications (1.8% vs. 4.9%, p = 0.038).ConclusionA single Perclose device is a safe means of vascular closure during TF-TAVR and may have important clinical benefits compared to the commonly used two-device technique.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between exercise addiction and physical self-esteem levels of students studying at the Faculty of Sport Sciences. Survey method was used as the research design in the study. The scope group of the study consisted of students studying in the faculties of sport sciences of 7 universities, randomly selected as one from each geographical region of Turkey. "Personal Information Form" was used to obtain the socio-demographic information of the participants, "Exercise Addiction Scale (EIS)" was used to determine the level of exercise addiction and "Physical Self Scale" was used to determine the level of physical self. Fractional flow reserve (FFR) determines the functional significance of epicardial stenoses assuming negligible venous pressure (Pv) and microvascular resistance. However, these assumptions may be invalid in end-stage liver disease (ESLD) because of fluctuating Pv and vasodilation. Accordingly, all patients with ESLD who underwent right-sided cardiac catheterization and coronary angiography with FFR as part of their orthotopic liver transplantation evaluation between 2013 and 2018 were included in the present study. Resting mean distal coronary pressure (Pd)/mean aortic pressure (Pa), FFR, and Pv were measured. FFR accounting for Pv (FFR - Pv) was defined as (Pd - Pv)/(Pa - Pv).
