Background: DICER1, a cancer predisposition syndrome (CPS), seems to escape timely diagnosis in pediatric patients. Case report 1: A 16-year-old female patient was referred to the endocrinology ward due to a large goiter. Her medical history indicated normal sexual maturation, with menarche occurring at 13.5 years. Over the past 2.5 years, she had developed pronounced androgenic symptoms, including a deepened male voice; facial, back, and neckline acne; hirsutism; and menstrual irregularities leading to secondary amenorrhea. A thyroid ultrasound identified a multinodular goiter (MNG) with cystic–solid lesions containing calcifications. An abdominal ultrasound identified a 5.7 × 6.9 cm solid mass in the right adnexal region, displacing the uterus to the left. Histopathological examination confirmed a Sertoli–Leydig cell tumor. The patient was subjected to a total thyroidectomy. Histopathology revealed benign follicular cell-derived neoplasms. Thyroid follicular nodular disease (TFND) was diagnosed bilaterally. DNA analysis using NGS, confirmed via the Sanger method, revealed a pathogenic heterozygotic variant c.2953C>T [p.Gln985*] in exon 18 of the DICER1 gene. Case report 2: A 12-year-old male patient was admitted to the pediatric surgery unit due to a 33 mL goiter. A month prior to his admission, the patient discovered a palpable nodule in his neck, accompanied by hoarseness. An ultrasound revealed MNG. Molecular analysis revealed a pathogenic heterozygotic variant c.2782C>T [p.Gln928*] in exon 17 of the DICER1 gene. Subsequently, a total thyroidectomy was performed, and histopathological examination revealed TFND bilaterally. Conclusions: Recent advances in genetic evaluation and in histological approaches indicate that MNG/TFND, although rare in the pediatric population, when accompanied by characteristic ultrasound and histopathological features, and by additional features such as androgenization, may warrant assessment also of the DICER1 gene within CPS molecular panel screening. Aim: Pituitary stalk interruption syndrome is a relatively rare disease. Patients with this disease usually have different degrees of short stature in adulthood. The purpose of this case report is to highlight a special case of unusually elongated limbs with excessive height growth and congenital absence of uterus and ovary, so as to improve clinicians understanding of the atypical manifestations of pituitary stalk interruption syndrome and provide reference for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Case Presentation: The 30-year-old female patient exhibited disproportionate growth in height, with a significant increase from 140 cm at the age of 16 to 180 cm currently. Physical examination revealed widened bilateral eye fissures, underdeveloped secondary sexual characteristics, and absence of menstruation. The patient 's parents are cousins, belonging to consanguineous marriage. The patient 's hypoglycemia provocation test suggested the lack of growth hormone and cortisol. Gonadorelin provocation test suggested hypogonadism, and thyroid function test showed hypothyroidism. Pituitary MRI plain scan and enhancement suggested pituitary stalk interruption syndrome, and abdominal and urinary color Doppler ultrasound suggested no echo of uterus and bilateral appendages in the pelvic cavity. The karyotype of peripheral blood was 45, X[3] / 46, XX [117]. The patient was diagnosed with pituitary stalk interruption syndrome, congenital uterine and ovarian deficiency, bone overgrowth, hypothyroidism and secondary osteoporosis. During hospitalization, the symptoms were improved and discharged after hormone replacement therapy such as physiological dose of glucocorticoid, estradiol valerate tablets and levothyroxine sodium tablets. Now the patient is still in our hospital endocrinology outpatient follow-up, no special discomfort. Conclusion: The patient had special clinical manifestations and was clinically confirmed as pituitary stalk interruption syndrome. The current study sought to determine whether well-fed nulliparous she-camels (NP, n= 8) aged 2:3 years could have the same pattern of fertility status similar to multiparous she-camels (MP, n= 13; aged 8 to 13 years). Ovarian follicular dynamics and associated hormones, ovarian measures and endometrial thickness, and pregnancy rates were recorded during the period of 90 days (December-March). Every two days, the ovaries and uterus were scanned by ultrasound, and blood samples were taken. Results showed that the right ovaries were more active than the left ovaries. Ovarian length and width and endometrial thickness increased with follicles growth, and NP had longer ovaries (P<0.05) than MP she-camels and the opposite was found in the ovarian width, whereas endometrial thickness was less in NP than MP. MP had a higher mean number of emerged follicles (17.21±0.41 follicles) than NP (10.42±0.41 follicles). The mature phase duration was longer (P<0.05) in MP (11.89 days) than in NP (9.94 days). The duration of regression for DF and oversized follicles were 19.38 and 15.13 days in NP compared to 23.31 and 17.27 days in MP. Progesterone concentrations remained at the basal level throughout the follicular waves, while E2 and FSH concentrations were associated with the follicular growth, and the peak levels were recorded in the mature phase (56.88 and 7.766 vs. 62.58 and 9.017 pg/mL and mIU/mL in NP and MP, respectively). In this study, we show the improvement in life longevity in an experimental mouse model after step-by-step autologous ovarian transplantation and compare its effects with exogenic transdermal estradiol usage. This has proven to be more efficient than “traditional” hormonal replacement therapy. Despite the high speed and effectiveness of estradiol replacement deficiency in blood by its oral or transdermal use, no significant increase in the life longevity of animals and possibly in women was noted. The function of the transplanted fragment is usually limited to 6–12 months. This is enough for oncofertility purposes, sometimes, but not for longevity improvement. We performed periodical tissue return (autologous transplantation), containing both the cortex and medulla in the experimental mouse model, which resulted in a statistically reliable improvement in longevity. Our experience indicates the important role of medullary ovarian factors in slowing the aging process in the body and increasing the life expectancy in the experiment. As shown, the transdermal estrogen supportive therapy for ovarian deficiency improves estrogen levels but causes much slower decreases in the follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Moreover, we attained the best longevity with step-by-step periodic ovarian autotransplantation, thus making “prosthetics” of ovarian function longer than it is preplanned physiologically [direct correlation between the levels of FSH and lifespan (r = 0.98)]. The experimental model we suggested could be projected to other mammals or humans as cortical transplantation provides the same results for reproduction restoration in mice and humans and even for hormone level normalization, but there is still a lack of information about anti-aging factors in the ovarian medulla and cortex. Hence, we consider that the most important factor for the anti-aging ovarian transplantation technology is to preserve and transfer both the medulla and cortex as parts of the whole ovary.

The tomato-potato psyllid, Bactericera cockerelli (Šulc), belonging to the Hemiptera order, is an insect pest of solanaceous crops and vectors a fastidious bacterium, Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum (CLso), the presumptive causal agent of zebra chip and vein greening diseases in potatoes and tomatoes, respectively. The genome of B. cockerelli has been sequenced recently, providing new avenues to elucidate mechanistic insights into pathogenesis in vegetable crops. In this study, we performed RNA-sequencing of the critical psyllid organs (salivary glands and ovaries) involved in CLso pathology and transmission to host plants. Transcriptome analysis revealed differentially expressed genes and organ-specific enrichment of gene ontology (GO) terms related to metabolic processes, response to stress/stimulus, phagocytosis, proteolysis, endocytosis, and provided candidate genes encoding transcription factors (TFs). To examine gene regulatory networks across the psyllid organs under CLso(-) and CLso(+) conditions, we performed weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), and unique modules differentiating the psyllid organs were identified. A comparative GO analysis of the unique gene modules revealed functional terms enriched in response to stress, gene regulation, and cell division processes in the ovaries. In contrast, respiration, transport, and neuronal transmission-related GO terms were enriched in the salivary glands. Altogether, this study reveals new insights into tissue-specific expression of the psyllid organs in the absence or presence of CLso bacterium. This knowledge can be leveraged to develop new pest and disease management strategies by delineating the regulatory networks involved in the psyllid-CLso interaction.

Background: Mature cystic teratomas are the most common germ cell tumors of the ovary. Both malignant and benign tumors may arise inside mature teratomas. Only 42 cases of pulmonary papillary adenomas are described in the literature, with only two cases of pulmonary papillary adenoma inside a mature cystic teratoma of the ovary. Case Report: This case report highlights the presence of a pulmonary papillary adenoma in a mature cystic teratoma of the ovary in a 28-year-old woman, which is the third case documented in the literature. This report also includes a review of the literature discussing its histomorphological and immunohistochemical features. Conclusion: Pulmonary papillary adenomas within ovarian mature cystic teratomas represent an exceedingly rare phenomenon warranting further research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fulgoromorpha include about 14,000 described species belonging to 21 families distributed throughout the world. The number of follicles is known for 186 species, 123 genera and 17 families, and the number of ovarioles is known for 52 species, 44 genera and 11 families. Almost 80% of the species studied belong to the families Dictyophar­idae, Delphacidae, Issidae, Cixiidae and Achilidae. The number of follicles per testis and ovarioles per ovary varies within similar ranges, from 2 to 30 and from 3 to just over 30, respectively. The predominant number of follicles is 6, which is found in more than one third of the species and in almost all of the families studied. This number is considered as an ancestral trait for Fulgoromorpha. In each family, the ancestral number can vary both upwards or downwards, probably due to either polymerization or oligomerization. In the more basal families, a decreasing trend clearly predominates, whereas an increasing trend predominates in the more advanced families. As for the numbers of ovarioles, they tend to vary within families, with rare exceptions (e.g., Dictyopharidae), but that is probably due to the lack of data.

Infertility affects 15% of couples in reproductive age worldwide. In women in particular, infertility can be caused by various abnormalities, with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) being the most common. Currently, there are many assisted reproductive techniques (ART) available to combat the burden of infertility. However, positive results are not guaranteed. The administration of inositol has been shown to increase positive reproductive outcomes in women undergoing ART. Here we present a series of clinical cases in which women with a history of infertility and previously failed ART, supplemented with a specific 3.6:1 MYO:DCI ratio, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals for a period of 1 to 3 months before undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). In this series of case reports, we provide preliminary evidence that supplementation with a specific 3.6:1 MYO to DCI ratio, as well as antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals may contribute positively to female fertility in women undergoing IVF, with a history of primary or secondary infertility and previously failed ART. Background: Mature cystic teratoma of the ovary is classified among the benign ovarian germ cell neoplasms, and its malignant transformation occurs very rarely (in about 2%). As a result of nonspecific signs and symptoms, preoperative diagnosis of theses malignancies is a challenge to clinicians, resulting in delayed diagnosis (in advanced stages) and poor outcomes. Case presentation: We report the case of a 43-year-old Iranian woman with progressive distension of the abdomen and hypogastric pain, who was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma transformation in a mature cystic teratoma of the ovary confirmed by histopathology examination. Total abdominal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingooophorectomy, and comprehensive staging surgery were performed for the patient, and she was scheduled for chemotherapy after the surgery. She responded well to the treatment and is currently continuing her chemotherapy process. Conclusion: There are a great number of reports in the literature regarding mature cystic teratoma of the ovary transformation into malignancy, so these neoplasms must be considered as a possible differential diagnosis and should be evaluated in older individuals with abdominal pain and palpable mass, or those with considerable tumor diameter and raised serum tumor markers. The signaling environment, or niche, often governs the initial difference in behavior of an adult stem cell and a derivative that initiates a path towards differentiation. The transition between an instructive stem cell niche and differentiation niche must generally have single-cell resolution, suggesting that multiple mechanisms might be necessary to sharpen the transition. Here, we examined the Drosophila ovary and found that Cap cells, which are key constituents of the germline stem cell (GSC) niche, express a conserved microRNA (miR-124). Surprisingly, loss of miR-124 activity in Cap cells leads to a defect in differentiation of GSC derivatives. We present evidence that the direct functional target of miR-124 in Cap cells is the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and that failure to limit EGFR expression leads to the ectopic expression of a key anti-differentiation BMP signal in neighboring somatic escort cells (ECs), which constitute a differentiation niche. We further found that Notch signaling connects EFGR activity in Cap cells to BMP expression in ECs. We deduce that the stem cell niche communicates with the differentiation niche through a mechanism that begins with the selective expression of a specific microRNA and culminates in the suppression of the major anti-differentiation signal in neighboring cells, with the functionally important overall role of sharpening the spatial distinction between self-renewal and differentiation environments. There is increasing interest on how the local microenvironment influences stem cell proliferation and differentiation. Background: Quiescin sulfhydryl oxidase 2 (QSOX2) is a flavin adenine dinucleotide-dependent sulfhydryl oxidase that is known to be involved in protein folding, cell growth regulation, and redox state modification through oxidative activities. Earlier studies demonstrated the tissue and cellular localization of QSOX2 in the male reproductive tract, as well as the highly-regulated mechanism of QSOX2 protein synthesis and expression through the coordinated action of testosterone and epididymal-enriched amino acid, glutamate. However, the presence and the functions of QSOX2 in female reproduction are unknown. In this study, we applied the Cre-loxP gene manipulation system to generate the heterozygous and homozygous Qsox2 knockout mice and examined its effects on ovarian function. Results: We demonstrated that QSOX2 was detected in the follicle-supporting cells (granulosa and cumulus cells) of ovarian follicles of all stages but was absent in the corpus luteum, suggesting its supportive role in folliculogenesis. In comparison with reproductive organogenesis in wild-type mice, there was no difference in testicular and epididymal structure in male Qsox2 knockout; however, Qsox2 knockout disrupted the regular ovulation process in female mice as a drastic decrease in the formation of the corpus luteum was detected, and no pregnancy was achieved when mating males with homozygous Qsox2 knockout females. RNAseq analyses further revealed that Qsox2 knockout altered critical signaling pathways and genes that are responsible for maintaining ovarian functions. Background: It is well described that circulating progesterone (P4) plays a key role in several reproductive events such as oocyte maturation. However, during diestrus, when circulating P4 is at the highest concentrations, little is known about its local impact on the follicular cells such as intrafollicular P4 concentration due to corpus luteum (CL) presence within the same ovary. Based on that, our hypothesis is that the CL presence in the ovary during diestrus alters intrafollicular P4 concentrations, oocyte competence acquisition, follicular cells gene expression, and small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) miRNAs contents. Results: P4 hormonal analysis revealed that ipsilateral to the CL follicular fluid (iFF) presented higher P4 concentration compared to contralateral follicular fluid (cFF). Furthermore, oocyte maturation and miRNA biogenesis pathways transcripts (ADAMTS-1 and AGO2, respectively) were increased in cumulus and granulosa cells of iFF, respectively. Nevertheless, a RT-PCR screening of 382 miRNAs showed that three miRNAs were upregulated and two exclusively expressed in sEVs from iFF and are predicted to regulate cell communication pathways. Similarly, seven miRNAs were higher and two exclusively expressed from cFF sEVs and are predicted to modulate proliferation signaling pathways. Conclusion: In conclusion, intrafollicular P4 concentration is influenced by the presence of the CL and modulates biological processes related to follicular cell development and oocyte competence, which may influence the oocyte quality. Background: The mammalian ovary is a unique organ that displays a distinctive feature of cyclic changes throughout the entire reproductive period. The estrous/menstrual cycles are associated with drastic functional and morphological rearrangements of ovarian tissue, including follicular development and degeneration, and the formation and subsequent atrophy of the corpus luteum. The flawless execution of these reiterative processes is impossible without the involvement of programmed cell death (PCD). Main text: PCD is crucial for efficient and careful clearance of excessive, depleted, or obsolete ovarian structures for ovarian cycling. Moreover, PCD facilitates selection of high-quality oocytes and formation of the ovarian reserve during embryonic and juvenile development. Disruption of PCD regulation can heavily impact the ovarian functions and is associated with various pathologies, from a moderate decrease in fertility to severe hormonal disturbance, complete loss of reproductive function, and tumorigenesis. This comprehensive review aims to provide updated information on the role of PCD in various processes occurring in normal and pathologic ovaries. Three major events of PCD in the ovary—progenitor germ cell depletion, follicular atresia, and corpus luteum degradation—are described, alongside the detailed information on molecular regulation of these processes, highlighting the contribution of apoptosis, autophagy, necroptosis, and ferroptosis. Ultimately, the current knowledge of PCD aberrations associated with pathologies, such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, premature ovarian insufficiency, and tumors of ovarian origin, is outlined. Conclusion: PCD is an essential element in ovarian development, functions and pathologies. A thorough understanding of molecular mechanisms regulating PCD events is required for future advances in the diagnosis and management of various disorders of the ovary and the female reproductive system in general. Granulosa cells (GCs) are essential for follicular development, and long noncoding RNAs (LncRNAs) are known to support the maintenance of this process and hormone synthesis in mammals. Nevertheless, the regulatory roles of these lncRNAs within sheep follicular GCs remain largely unexplored. This study delved into the influence of a Loc105611671, on the proliferation and steroid hormone synthesis of sheep ovarian GCs and the associated target genes in vitro. Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) gain-of-function experiments indicated that overexpression of Loc105611671 significantly boosted GCs proliferation, along with estrogen (E2) and progesterone (P4) levels. Further mechanistic scrutiny revealed that Loc105611671 is primarily localized within the cytoplasm of ovarian granulosa cells and engages in molecular interplay with CDC42. This interaction results in the upregulation of CDC42 protein expression. Moreover, it was discerned that increased CDC42 levels contribute to augmented proliferation of follicular granulosa cells and the secretion of E2 and P4. Experiments involving co-transfection elucidated that the concurrent overexpression of CDC42 and Loc105611671 acted synergistically to potentiate these effects. Allopregnanolone (ALLO) is a known neurosteroid and a progesterone metabolite synthesized in the ovary, CNS, PNS, adrenals and placenta. Its role in the neuroendocrine control of ovarian physiology has been studied, but its in situ ovarian effects are still largely unknown. The aims of this work were to characterize the effects of intrabursal ALLO administration on different ovarian parameters, and the probable mechanism of action. ALLO administration increased serum progesterone concentration and ovarian 3β-HSD2 while decreasing 20α-HSD mRNA expression. ALLO increased the number of atretic follicles and the number of positive TUNEL granulosa and theca cells, while decreasing positive PCNA immunostaining. On the other hand, there was an increase in corpora lutea diameter and PCNA immunostaining, whereas the count of TUNEL-positive luteal cells decreased. Ovarian angiogenesis and the immunohistochemical expression of GABAA receptor increased after ALLO treatment. To evaluate if the ovarian GABAA receptor was involved in these effects, we conducted a functional experiment with a specific antagonist, bicuculline. The administration of bicuculline restored the number of atretic follicles and the diameter of corpora lutea to normal values. These results show the actions of ALLO on the ovarian physiology of the female rat during the follicular phase, some of them through the GABAA receptor. Utilising both morphological and molecular analyses, this study unveils Mazus jiangshiense sp. nov., a novel addition to the Mazaceae family, discovered in Shaowu County, Fujian Province, China. The comprehensive description and illustrations provided here are a result of a meticulous exploration of its morphological features. While bearing a resemblance to M. gracilis, this new-found species is distinguished by three distinct characteristics: its stems are delicately soft, its leaves possess a membranous quality and the ovary is notably villous at the apex. Integration of molecular evidence, derived from the nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrITS) and three plastid DNA sequences (rps16, rbcL and trnL-trnF), unequivocally supports the classification of M. jiangshiense as a distinct species. Notably, the molecular analysis positions it as a sister species to M. spicatus, underscoring the phylogenetic relationships within the genus Mazus. Our research not only introduces M. jiangshiense as a novel taxonomic entity, but also provides a nuanced understanding of its morphological differences and molecular affinities, enriching our comprehension of the diversity and evolutionary relationships of Mazaceae. Simple Summary: Since the discovery of a BRCA1 mutation nearly 30 years ago, definitive methods for ovarian cancer-risk reduction has remained unchanged, requiring carriers of a pathogenic mutation to consider undergoing surgical removal of both fallopian tubes and ovaries from the ages of 35 to 40 years. The sequelae of these invasive measures include a profound impact on general health, psychological well-being, sexual and reproductive function. Identifying targetable aberrances in BRCA1 mutation carriers, such as sex hormones, or adopting mechanisms aimed at enhancing tumor immunosurveillance may facilitate the reduction of early cancer-promoting events. This is particularly relevant for the fimbrial fallopian tube, where the majority of epithelial ovarian cancers originate. Utilizing a proof-of-concept for potentially targetable aberrances may further the development of non-surgical adjuncts or surveillance methods aimed at cancer-risk reduction for women deferring or declining surgery. Background: Tissue-specificity for fimbrial fallopian tube ovarian carcinogenesis remains largely unknown in BRCA1 mutation carriers. We aimed to assess the cell autonomous and cell-nonautonomous implications of a germline BRCA1 mutation in the context of cancer immunosurveillance of CD3− CD56+ natural killer (NK) cells. Methods: Premenopausal BRCA1 mutation carriers versus age-matched non-carriers were compared. Daily urinary 5β-pregnanediol levels were used to determine progesterone metabolomics across an ovarian cycle. Using peripherally acquired NK cells the cell-mediated cytotoxicity of tumor targets (OVCAR-3, K-562) was determined using live cellular impedance (xCELLigence®) and multicolor flow cytometry. Hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1α) immunohistochemistry of cancer-free fallopian tube specimens allowed a comparison of proximal versus distal portions. Utilizing these findings the role of environmental factors relevant to the fimbrial fallopian tube (progesterone, hypoxia) on NK cell functional activity were studied in an ovarian phase-specific manner. Results: BRCA1 mutation carriers demonstrate a differential progesterone metabolome with a phase-specific reduction of peripheral NK cell functional activity. Progesterone exposure further impairs NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity in a dose-dependent manner, which is reversed with the addition of mifepristone (1.25 µM). The fimbrial fallopian tube demonstrated significantly higher HIF-1α staining, particularly in BRCA1 mutation carriers, reflecting a site-specific 'hypoxic niche'. Exposure to hypoxic conditions (1% O2) can further impair tumor cytotoxicity in high-risk carriers. Conclusions: Phase-specific differential NK cell activity in BRCA1 mutation carriers, either systemically or locally, may favor site-specific pre-invasive carcinogenesis. These cumulative effects across a reproductive lifecycle in high-risk carriers can have a detrimental effect further supporting epidemiological evidence for ovulation inhibition. Simple Summary: Malignant Brenner tumors are rare ovarian neoplasms. Our aim is to provide insights concerning this rare entity. We reviewed 115 cases reported in the English literature until 15 September 2023, and analyzed the available demographic, clinical, and pathologic data. We also described the treatment modalities. A comparison of the available data showed that patients treated with lymph node dissection had a better disease-related survival rate. Disease recurrence was associated with tumor stage with marginal statistical significance and was more frequent in patients with ascites and those with abnormal CA-125 levels. Larger series with treatment details and long term follow-up data are needed to define the optimal management for this uncommon entity. Conclusions: We analyzed the demographic, clinical, pathological, and oncological characteristics of 115 patients with malignant Brenner tumors. The statistical analysis showed that recurrence was marginally statistically significantly related to tumor stage and was more common in patients with ascites and in women with abnormal CA-125 levels; patients that were treated with lymphadenectomy had better disease-specific survival. Background: Lymph node metastasis (LNM) is a major factor contributing to the high mortality rate of ovarian cancer, making the treatment of this disease challenging. However, the molecular mechanism underlying LNM in ovarian cancer is still not well understood, posing a significant obstacle to overcome. Results: Through data mining from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases, we have identified MEOX1 as a specific gene associated with LNM in ovarian cancer. The expression of MEOX1 was found to be relatively high in serous ovarian adenocarcinoma, and its higher expression were associated with increased tumor grade and poorer clinical prognosis for ovarian cancer patients. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that MEOX1 exhibited the highest mRNA levels among all cancer types in ovarian cancer tissues and cell lines. Furthermore, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and pathway analysis demonstrated that MEOX1 was involved in various LNM-related biological activities, such as lymphangiogenesis, lymphatic vessel formation during metastasis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), G2/M checkpoint, degradation of extracellular matrix, and collagen formation. Additionally, the expression of MEOX1 was positively correlated with the expression of numerous prolymphangiogenic factors in ovarian cancer. To validate our findings, we conducted experiments using clinical tissue specimens and cell lines, which confirmed that MEOX1 was highly expressed in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) tissues and various ovarian cancer cell lines (A2780, SKOV3, HO8910, and OVCAR5) compared to normal ovarian tissues and normal ovarian epithelial cell line IOSE-80, respectively. Notably, we observed a higher protein level of MEOX1 in tumor tissues of LNM-positive HGSOC compared to LNM-negative HGSOC. Moreover, our fundamental experiments demonstrated that suppression of MEOX1 led to inhibitory effects on ovarian cancer cell proliferation and EMT, while overexpression of MEOX1 enhanced the proliferation and EMT capacities of ovarian cancer cells. Conclusions: The results of our study indicate that MEOX1 plays a role in the lymph node metastasis of ovarian cancer by regulating multiple biological activities, including the proliferation and EMT of ovarian cancer, lymphangiogenesis, and ECM remodeling. Summary: Ovarian cancer remains the most lethal gynaecological malignancy with 314 000 cases and 207 000 deaths annually worldwide. Ovarian cancer cases and deaths are predicted to increase in Australia by 42% and 55% respectively by 2040.Earlier detection and significant downstaging of ovarian cancer have been demonstrated with multimodal screening in the largest randomised controlled trial of ovarian cancer screening in women at average population risk. However, none of the randomised trials have demonstrated a mortality benefit. Therefore, ovarian cancer screening is not currently recommended in women at average population risk. More frequent surveillance for ovarian cancer every three to four months in women at high risk has shown good performance characteristics and significant downstaging, but there is no available information on a survival benefit.Population testing offers an emerging novel strategy to identify women at high risk who can benefit from ovarian cancer prevention. Novel multicancer early detection biomarker, longitudinal multiple marker strategies, and new biomarkers are being investigated and evaluated for ovarian cancer screening.Risk‐reducing salpingo‐oophorectomy (RRSO) decreases ovarian cancer incidence and mortality and is recommended for women at over a 4–5% lifetime risk of ovarian cancer. Background: Saidi sheep are the most abundant ruminant livestock species in Upper Egypt, especially in the Assiut governorate. Sheep are one of the most abundant animals raised for food in Egypt. They can convert low-quality roughages into meat and milk in addition to producing fiber and hides therefore; great opportunity exists to enhance their reproduction. Saidi breed is poorly known in terms of reproduction. So this work was done to give more information on some hormonal, oxidative, and blood metabolites parameters in addition to histological, histochemical and immunohistochemical investigations of the ovary during follicular phase of estrous cycle. The present study was conducted on 25 healthy Saidi ewes for serum analysis and 10 healthy ewes for histological assessment aged 2 to 5 years and weighted (38.5 ± 2.03 kg). Results: The follicular phase of estrous cycle in Saidi sheep was characterized by the presence of ovarian follicles in different stages of development and atresia in addition to regressed corpus luteum. Interestingly, apoptosis and tissue oxidative markers play a crucial role in follicular and corpus luteum regression. The most prominent features of the follicular phase were the presence of mature antral (Graafian) and preovulatory follicles as well as increased level of some blood metabolites and oxidative markers. Here we give a new schematic sequence of ovarian follicles in Saidi sheep and describing the features of different types. We also clarified that these histological pictures of the ovary was influenced by hormonal, oxidative and blood metabolites factors that characterizes the follicular phase of estrous cycle in Saidi sheep. Conclusion: This work helps to understanding the reproduction in Saidi sheep which assist in improving the reproductive outcome of this breed of sheep. Menopause eventually happens to all people with typically functioning ovaries, and almost one billion women worldwide are postmenopausal. Although the biology of typical menopause is ubiquitous, the experience varies substantially. Factors contributing to the experience include not only individual factors, such as the nature and severity of symptoms, but also psychological, social, and contextual considerations, many of which are modifiable. In this first paper in the Lancet Series on menopause, we argue for a new approach that goes beyond the treatment of specific symptoms, to encompass a broad model to support women transitioning this life stage, using the model of empowerment. WHO defines empowerment as an active process of gaining knowledge, confidence, and self-determination to self-manage health and make informed decisions about care. Rather than focusing on menopause as an endocrine deficiency, we propose an empowerment model that recognises factors modifying the experience, in which the patient is an expert in their own condition and the health-care worker supports the patient to become an equal and active partner in managing their own care. Introduction: Estrogens are crucial regulators of ovarian function, mediating their signaling through binding to estrogen receptors. The disruption of the estrogen receptor 1 (Esr1) provokes infertility associated with a hemorrhagic, cystic phenotype similar to that seen in diseased or aged ovaries. Our previous study indicated the possibility of altered iron metabolism in Esr1-deficient ovaries showing massive expression of lipocalin 2, a regulator of iron homeostasis. Methods: Therefore, we examined the consequences of depleting Esr1 in mouse ovaries, focusing on iron metabolism. For that reason, we compared ovaries of adult Esr1-deficient animals and age-matched wild type littermates. Results and discussion: We found increased iron accumulation in Esr1-deficient animals by using laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Western blot analysis and RT-qPCR confirmed that iron overload alters iron transport, storage and regulation. In addition, trivalent iron deposits in form of hemosiderin were detected in Esr1-deficient ovarian stroma. The depletion of Esr1 was further associated with an aberrant immune cell landscape characterized by the appearance of macrophage-derived multinucleated giant cells (MNGCs) and increased quantities of macrophages, particularly M2-like macrophages. Similar to reproductively aged animals, MNGCs in Esr1-deficient ovaries were characterized by iron accumulation and strong autofluorescence. Finally, deletion of Esr1 led to a significant increase in ovarian mast cells, involved in iron-mediated foam cell formation. Mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma is a new class of rare subtypes of the female reproductive system. Its clinical symptoms are similar to other types of ovarian tumors. The diagnosis is based on pathological and immunohistochemical methods. The main treatment option is surgery combined with chemotherapy. Few cases have been reported at home and abroad. We reported a case of a 45-year-old woman with a cystic solid mass in the left adnexa. The postoperative pathological diagnosis was mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma of the left ovary and mature cystic teratoma (partial infiltration of the small intestine). This case had no specific clinical symptoms. Immunohistochemical findings showed positive results of GATA3, TTF1, CD10, ER, and PR. Paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy were given after the operation. Currently, no specific criteria are available for diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Objective. This study aimed to explore the therapeutic targets and related pathways of Kuntai capsules (KTCs) for premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) using network pharmacology and molecular docking. Methods. The active components and their targets of KTCs were retrieved from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology (TCMSP) website, and disease therapeutic targets of POI were downloaded from DisGeNET, GeneCards, and OMIM databases and combined with the disease differential genes of POI microarray dataset from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The intersecting genes of drug potential therapeutic targets and disease therapeutic targets were uploaded to the STRING database to form a protein-protein interaction network. Also, the possible pathway of KTCs in the treatment of POI was explored by Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis; through the core therapeutic targets, the corresponding active ingredients of KTCs were found. Finally molecular docking was conducted to verify the accuracy of the drug action. Results. 120 potential therapeutic targets of KTCs for POI were found. The bioinformatics analysis revealed that KTCs may regulate the recruitment, growth, and development of follicles by controlling various pathways such as fluid shear stress, atherosclerosis, PI3K/AKT, and p53 signaling. They can inhibit granulosa cell atrophy and apoptosis, promote follicle maturation, regulate follicle sensitivity to follicle-stimulating hormone, and ultimately impact ovarian function. The core therapeutic targets were TP53, AKT1, and TNF, and the corresponding active ingredients were quercetin, kaempferol, and stigmasterol. The molecular docking results showed that all the root mean square deviations were less than 2. Conclusions. KTCs improve ovarian function probably by acting on regulating the recruitment of follicles, reducing the apoptosis of granulosa cells, promoting their growth and development, reducing oxidative stress damage, and improving the sensitivity of follicles to FSH. Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is one of the main causes of ovarian atresia, but its molecular effect on the ovaries is not fully understood. Accumulating evidence suggests that T1DM causes excessive endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and insufficient adaptive unfolded protein response that triggers proapoptotic signaling pathways in ovarian tissue. In addition, problems such as amenorrhea and infertility, which are frequently seen in women with T1DM, continue despite the intensification of insulin therapy and improvement of metabolic control. Therefore new, and adjunctive treatments for women with T1DM need to be explored. We aimed to examine how the use of linagliptin, which has blood sugar‐lowering effects and high antioxidant activity, together with insulin affects the expression levels of proteins and genes that play a role in ER stress in type 1 diabetic mouse ovaries. Eighty‐four Balb/C 6‐week‐old female mice were randomly divided into seven groups: control, vehicle, diabetes + insulin, diabetes + linagliptin, diabetes + linagliptin + insulin, diabetes + TUDCA, and diabetes + TUDCA + insulin. TUDCA (an inhibitor of ER stress) groups are positive control groups created to compare linagliptin groups in terms of ER stress. Linagliptin and TUDCA were given by oral gavage and 1U insulin was administered subcutaneously for 2 weeks. A significant decrease was observed in the MDA and NOX1 levels and the number of atretic follicles in the ovaries of the diabetes + linagliptin + insulin group compared to the diabetes + insulin group. The use of linagliptin and insulin increased the expression of pro‐survival XBP1s transmembrane protein and decreased the expression of proapoptotic ATF4, pJNK1/2, cleaved caspase 12, and cleaved caspase 3 in mouse ovaries. Our study provides new therapeutic evidence that linagliptin administered in addition to insulin induces ER stress mechanism‐dependent survival in ovaries with type 1 diabetes. Significance Statement: In our study, we aimed to answer the question whether the use of linagliptin, a DPP4 inhibitor with high antioxidant activity, and insulin triggers the survival pathway or the apoptotic pathway of unfolded protein response (UPR) signaling activated by endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) mouse ovaries to reach new therapeutic targets. Our results showed that the addition of linagliptin to insulin induced pro‐survival UPR by decreasing ATF4 and increasing XBP1s proteins, while suppressing proapoptotic UPR by decreasing p‐JNK1 + JNK2, cleaved caspase 12, and cleaved caspase 3 proteins. This study will contribute to the literature in terms of the discovery of new methods to be used in the treatment of ovarian pathologies associated with diabetes‐induced ER stress. Vitellogenin (Vg) is a glycolipid complex protein produced by the fat body of female insects. It plays vital roles in oocyte development and helps regulate reproductive development. In this study, we determined the grading criteria for ovarian development and identified a Vg gene (designated TaVg) from the devastating invasive pest, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick). TaVg contains a 5208 bp open reading frame encoding a protein of 1735 amino acids that includes conserved domain structures of insect Vg. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that TaVg was clustered into a clade with the Vg of other Lepidoptera species, suggesting this gene has been conserved during evolution. Spatiotemporal expression analyses showed that TaVg was highly expressed in the female pupae and adults. There was increased expression during sexual maturation, and the high expression level was found in the ovary and fat body. RNAi-mediated silencing of TaVg resulted in significant downregulation of vitellogenin contents and severely affected ovarian development. Females injected with dsTaVg had shorter ovarian tubes and fewer oocytes compared with the untreated individuals. The number of oocytes and the amount of yolk deposition in the egg chambers also reduced. Depletion of TaVg significantly reduced the number of eggs laid and the hatching rate. Co-silencing of TaVg and TaVgR had a more significant effect on inhibiting the ovarian development and reducing female fecundity of T. absoluta, showing that the two genes play important role in regulating the reproduction. Aims: Ovarian Wilms tumour (WT)/nephroblastoma is an extremely rare neoplasm that has been reported to occur in pure form or as a component of a teratomatous neoplasm. We hypothesized that teratoma‐associated and pure ovarian WT may represent different tumour types with diverging molecular backgrounds. To test this hypothesis, we comprehensively characterized a series of five tumours originally diagnosed as ovarian WT. Methods and Results: The five cases comprised three teratoma‐associated (two mature and one immature) and two pure WTs. Two of the teratoma‐associated WTs consisted of small nodular arrangements of "glandular"/epithelial structures, while the third consisted of both an epithelial and a diffuse spindle cell/blastemal component. The pure WTs consisted of "glandular" structures, which were positive for sex cord markers (including inhibin and SF1) together with a rhabdomyosarcomatous component. The two pure WTs harboured DICER1 pathogenic variants (PVs), while the three associated with teratomas were DICER1 wildtype. Panel‐based DNA sequencing of four of the cases did not identify PVs in the other genes investigated. Analysis of the HA19/IGF2 imprinting region showed retention of imprinting in the pure WTs but loss of heterozygosity with hypomethylation of the ICR1 region in two of three teratoma‐associated WTs. Furthermore, copy number variation and clustering‐based whole‐genome DNA methylation analyses identified divergent molecular profiles for pure and teratoma‐associated WTs. Conclusion: Based on the morphological features, immunophenotype, and molecular findings (DICER1 PVs, copy number, and DNA methylation profiles), we suggest that the two cases diagnosed as pure primary ovarian WT represent moderately to poorly differentiated Sertoli Leydig cell tumours (SLCTs), while the tumours arising in teratomas represent true WTs. Sheep is the primary source of animal protein in Iran. Birth type is one of the significant features that determine total meat output. Little is known about how long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) affect litter size. The purpose of this research is to investigate the DE–LncRNAs in ovarian tissue between multiparous and uniparous Shal ewes. Through bioinformatics analyses, LncRNAs with variable expression levels between ewes were discovered. Target genes were annotated using the DAVID database, and STRING and Cytoscape software were used to evaluate their interactions. The expression levels of 148 LncRNAs were different in the multiparous and uniparous ewe groups (false discovery rate (FDR) < 0.05). Eight biological process terms, nine cellular component terms, 10 molecular function terms, and 38 KEGG pathways were significant (FDR < 0.05) in the GO analysis. One of the most significant processes impacting fertility is mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway, followed by oocyte meiosis, gonadotropin-releasing hormone signaling pathway, progesterone-mediated oocyte maturation, oxytocin signaling pathway, and cAMP signaling pathway. ENSOARG00000025710, ENSOARG00000025667, ENSOARG00000026034, and ENSOARG00000026632 are LncRNAs that may affect litter size and fertility. The most crucial hub genes include MAPK1, BRD2, GAK, RAP1B, FGF2, RAP1B, and RAP1B. We hope that this study will encourage researchers to further investigate the effect of LncRNAs on fertility. Background: Some medical conditions, including polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOs), may lead to infertility. In PCOs, hormonal imbalance is significant. Antioxidants such as natural antioxidants have many health benefits, including positive effects on hormone production. Objective: Since herbal medicines are more acceptable to people, the present study was designed to evaluate the effect of an aqueous extract of orchid (SA), with antioxidative effects, on the structure of the ovary and the hypothalamic-pituitarygonadal axis hormones and free testosterone in PCOs rats. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 64 healthy female Wistar rats (180-200 gr) were randomly divided into 60 and 89 day control groups, PCOs, and 4 PCOs + SA groups that received 40, 80, 160, and 320 mg/kg of SA. Serum levels of gonadotropin-releasing hormone, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and luteinizing hormone were measured. In addition, the ovaries were extracted and examined histologically. Results: The amount of primordial, primary, secondary, and Graafian follicles and serum levels of follicle-stimulating hormone and progesterone hormones decreased in PCOs groups, while atretic follicles and the serum levels of gonadotropin-releasing hormone, luteinizing hormone, estrogen, and free testosterone were increased. SA at different doses regulated hormonal and histological imbalances caused by PCOs, and 320 mg/kg was the most effective. Conclusion: The aqueous extract of orchids root can have a positive effect on the improvement of polycystic ovary syndrome. Salmon breeding companies control the egg stripping period through environmental change, which triggers the need to identify the state of maturation. Ultrasound imaging of the salmon ovary is a proven non-invasive tool for this purpose; however, the process is laborious, and the interpretation of the ultrasound scans is subjective. Real-time ultrasound image segmentation of Atlantic salmon ovary provides an opportunity to overcome these limitations. However, several application challenges need to be addressed to achieve this goal. These challenges include the potential for false-positive and false-negative predictions, accurate prediction of attenuated lower ovary parts and resolution of inconsistencies in predicted ovary shape. We describe an approach designed to tackle these obstacles by employing targeted pre-training of a modified U-Net, capable of performing both segmentation and classification. In addition, a variational autoencoder (VAE) and generative adversarial network (GAN) were incorporated to rectify shape inconsistencies in the segmentation output. To train the proposed model, a data set of Atlantic salmon ovaries throughout two maturation periods was recorded. We then tested our model and compared its performance with that of conventional and novel U-Nets. The method was also tested in a salmon on-site ultrasound examination setting. The results of our application indicate that our method is able to efficiently segment salmon ovary with an average Dice score of 0.885 per individual in real-time. These results represent a competitive performance for this specific application, which enables us to design an automated system for smart monitoring of maturation state in Atlantic salmon. This case report presents a unique and unprecedented occurrence of mucinous cystadenoma of the ovary accompanied by xanthogranulomatous oophoritis, a rare inflammatory condition. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first documented case of its kind in the medical literature. The patient, a 25-year-old woman, presented with abdominal pain, fever, and discomfort, prompting further investigation that led to the unexpected discovery of these coexisting pathologies. The present study investigated the reproductive biology of European anchovies obtained seasonally from fishermen in İzmir Bay (Aegean Sea). The total length range of the investigated individuals was 9.0 – 15.7 cm. Of the 750 samples in which sex was determined, 34% were males, and 66% were females, resulting in a female-to-male ratio of 1.91:1. The first maturation length was determined to be 10.47 cm for females and 9.95 cm for males. Based on the total values of the gonadosomatic index, it was concluded that the reproductive period of the species falls in the summer season. The batch fecundity of the species ranged from 2.123 to 6.951 oocytes, and the fecundity–length relationship was expressed as F = 1134.4TL – 10034 (R2 = 0.84). Histological examination of the female ovaries revealed the presence of oocytes at different stages of development, indicating multiple spawning during the reproductive season. CTP synthase (CTPS) catalyzes the final step of de novo synthesis of CTP. CTPS was first discovered to form filamentous structures termed cytoophidia in Drosophila ovarian cells. Subsequent studies have shown that cytoophidia are widely present in cells of three life domains. In the Drosophila ovary model, our previous studies mainly focused on the early and middle stages, with less involvement in the later stages. In this work, we focus on the later stages of female germline cells in Drosophila. We use live-cell imaging to capture the continuous dynamics of cytoophidia in Stages 10–12. We notice the heterogeneity of cytoophidia in the two types of germline cells (nurse cells and oocytes), manifested in significant differences in morphology, distribution, and dynamics. Surprisingly, we also find that neighboring nurse cells in the same egg chamber exhibit multiple dynamic patterns of cytoophidia over time. Maternal exposures during pregnancy can impact the establishment of the ovarian reserve in offspring, the lifetime supply of germ cells that determine a woman's reproductive lifespan. However, despite alcohol consumption being common in women of reproductive age, the impact of prenatal alcohol on ovarian development is rarely investigated. This study used an established rat model of periconceptional ethanol exposure (PCEtOH; 12.5% v/v ethanol) for 4 days prior to 4 days post-conception. Ovaries were collected from neonates (day 3 and day 10), and genes with protein products involved in regulating the ovarian reserve analyzed by qPCR. Adult offspring had estrous cycles monitored and breeding performance assessed. PCEtOH resulted in subtle changes in expression of genes regulating apoptosis at postnatal day (PN) 3, whilst those involved in regulating growth and recruitment of primordial follicles were dysregulated at PN10 in neonatal ovaries. Despite these gene expression changes, there were no significant impacts on breeding performance in adulthood, nor on F2-generation growth or survival. This contributes additional evidence to suggest that a moderate level of alcohol consumption exclusively around conception, when a woman is often unaware of her pregnancy, does not substantially impact the fertility of her female offspring. The aim of the study was to determine in vitro embryo development, embryo quality, and in vitro embryo production (IVEP) parameters by using Anatolian water buffaloes (AWB) oocytes. In this study, 184 ovaries of 92 AWB obtained from slaughterhouses were used. The tissue culture medium (TCM-199) was used for in vitro maturation (IVM), Brackett & Oliphant (BO) medium for in vitro fertilization (IVF), and Charles Rosencrans 1 amino acid (CR1aa) medium for in vitro culture (IVC). A total of 395 oocytes (2.15 per ovary) were obtained from the ovaries. Frozen AWB sperm was used for fertilization. The number of cleavages at the 24th hour was 93 out of 302 (30.79%), the number of morulae and compact morula at the 96th hour was 53 out of 302 (17.55%), the number of blastocysts at 7th day was 29 out of 302 (9.60%), and the number of hatched blastocysts were 12 out of 302 (3.97%) on the 8th and 9th days. In the quality assessment of 29 blastocysts recovered on day 7 in IVC, 7 of them (24.13%) were of the code 1 quality, 9 of them (31.03%) were of the code 2 quality, 8 of them (27.50%) were of the code 3 quality, and 5 of them (17.24%) were classified as the code 4 quality. This study provides the first data on in vitro embryo development, embryo quality classification, and embryo production in AWB. Goat production in Mediterranean countries is economically and socially significant. The study investigated the impact of hCG supplementation on the in vitro maturation, fertilization, and mitochondrial activity of goat oocytes. In total, 2356 good cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) were recovered from 476 freshly collected goat ovaries. Selected oocytes were incubated in IVM medium and supplemented with hCG at varying concentrations depending on the experimental group for 24 hours at 38.5 ° C, 5% CO2 and 95% humidity. The first group (G1) was allocated as a control group, while the G2 and G3 groups were supplemented with 10 and 20 IU/mL hCG, respectively. The maturation rate was calculated using Hoechst 33342 staining in addition to cumulus expansion and the first polar body extrusion rates. The fertilization rate was evaluated. Moreover, mitochondrial activity was assessed using Mito-Tracker fluorescent staining. The results indicated a higher rate (P≤0.05) of nuclear maturation in G3 (82.5%) than in G2 (65.9%) and the control group (64.8%). Furthermore, fertilization rate was significantly improved in G3 (18.7%) compared to G2 (10.6%) and the control group (9.5%). Notably, the percentage of diffuse patterns of mitochondrial distribution increased in G3 (73.3%) compared to G2 (13.3%) and the control group (6.7%). In the same trend, the fluorescent mitochondrial intensity was higher in G3 (95%) and G2 (89.2%) compared to the control group (79.9%). In conclusion, supplementing the IVM medium with 20 IU/mL of hCG improved goat oocytes' maturation and fertilization rates by modulating cytoplasmic distribution and promoting the utilization of oocyte mitochondria. Introduction Females, versus males, have shown a slower decline in smoking prevalence, greater smoking-related mortality and morbidity, and tend to have more difficulty achieving and maintaining abstinence. Identifying sex-specific risk factors is needed to improve outcomes. Though ovarian hormones have been evaluated for their role in smoking and relapse, measures tend to be static and infrequent, failing to capture the influence of increasing or decreasing levels. Aims and Methods The present study evaluated the effect of static and fluctuating levels of ovarian hormones (ie, progesterone, estradiol, and estrogen to progesterone [E/P] ratio) on stress reactivity, cigarette craving, and smoking during a laboratory relapse paradigm. Female participants (assigned female at birth) reporting daily cigarette smoking (N  = 91, ages 18–45) were recruited from the community. Participants provided daily salivary ovarian hormone levels leading up to a laboratory session, in which stress was induced and stress reactivity, cigarette craving, latency to smoke, and ad-libitum smoking were measured. Results Static levels of estradiol were associated with stress reactivity (β  = 0.28, SE = 0.13) and static E/P ratio was associated with smoking in the laboratory (HR = 1.4). Preceding 3-day changes in estradiol and E/P ratio, but neither static levels nor preceding 3-day changes in progesterone were associated with stress reactivity, cigarette craving, or smoking in a relapse paradigm. Conclusions Ovarian hormones are among several sex-specific factors involved in the complex neuroendocrine response to stress, and their interaction with other biological, social, and psychological factors in the real-world environment is not yet fully understood. Implications Findings of the present study provide novel information regarding the role of ovarian hormones among female participants who smoke daily in stress reactivity and smoking in the context of a laboratory relapse paradigm and highlight several avenues for future research. In previous studies, an allodiploid lineage (WR-F1-F5) was established by the distant hybridization of white crucian carp (Carassius cuvieri, WCC, ♀) and red crucian carp (Carassius auratus red var., RCC, ♂), an allodiploid fish (WR-II) was produced by WR-F1 (♀) x WCC (♂). In this study, the nutrients in the muscle and ovary of WR-II and its parents (WCC, RCC, and WR) were investigated, including protein, fat, amino acid, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), moisture, and ash. The results showed that the protein content of WR-II in muscle and ovary (17.90 % and 25.60 % respectively) was higher than that of WR, and was significantly higher than that of WCC and RCC (p < 0.05). The fat content of WR-II in muscle and ovary (4.30 % and 5.31 % respectively) was higher than that of WR and was significantly higher than that of WCC and RCC (p < 0.05), and the muscle and ovary of WR-II showed rich DHA content (0.32 % and 0.54 % respectively) than that of WCC and RCC (p < 0.05). Fifteen amino acids were detected in WR-II and its parents, the total amino acid (TAA) content of WR-II in muscle and ovary (15.49 % and 18.43 % respectively) was significantly higher than that of WCC (p < 0.05), the delicious amino acid (DAA) content of WR-II in muscle and ovary (6.56 % and 8.29 % respectively) was different degrees higher than that of WCC, RCC, and WR. The moisture and carbohydrates of WR-II in muscle and ovary were lower than those in WCC and RCC. Furthermore, protein, fat, TAA, and DAA content in the ovary were significantly higher than those in muscle (p < 0.05), showing tissue differences in all detected fish. This study indicated that WR-II had the characteristics of high protein, high fat, high DHA, high TAA, high DAA, low moisture, and low carbohydrates, which provided theoretical support for its application. DNA methylation (DNAm) is associated with the reproductive system. However, the genetic mechanism through which DNAm regulates gene expression and thus affects litter size in goats is unclear. Therefore, in the present work, genome-wide DNAm profiles of HP and LP Jining Grey goat ovary tissues were comprehensively analyzed via WGBS, and RNA-Seq data were combined to identify candidate genes associated with litter size traits in the Jining Grey goat. Finally, BSP and RT-qPCR were used to verify the sequencing results of the key genes. Notably, the DNMT genes were downregulated at the expression level in the HP group. Both groups exhibited comparable levels of methylation. A total of 976 differentially methylated regions (DMRs) (973 DMRs for CG and 3 DMRs for CHG) and 310 differentially methylated genes (DMGs) were identified in this study. Through integration of WGBS and RNA-Seq data, we identified 59 differentially methylated and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and ultimately screened 8 key DMGs (9 DMRS) associated with litter size traits in Jining Grey goats (SERPINB2: chr24_62258801_62259000, NDRG4: chr18_27599201_27599400, CFAP43: chr26_27046601_27046800, LRP1B. chr2_79720201_79720400, EPHA6: chr1_40088601_40088800, TTC29: chr17_59385801_59386000, PDE11A: chr2_117418601_117418800 and PGF: chr10_ 16913801_16914000 and chr10_16916401_16916600). Commelinabadamica var. palkondensis P. Sivaramakrishna, P. Yugandhar and L.J. Singh, var. nov. (Commelinaceae), a remarkable new variety from Palkonda hills of Eastern Ghats of Peninsular Indiais described and illustrated. It is apparently similar to C. badamica var. badamica in habitat ecology and general morphology, but differs in features like presence of a 2–3‐nerved ligule, lower cincinnus with single bisexual flower, glabrous ovary, elliptic anthers and ovoid‐oblong or trapezoidal seeds. The objective of this research endeavour was to ascertain whether there existed a distinction in the protein expression levels of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), phosphatidylinositol-4,5-biphosphate3-kinase (PI3K), macrophage (CD68), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) among women who had been diagnosed as having ovarian carcinoma (endometrioid and clear cell subtypes) underlying endometriosis. Tissue microarray (TMA) slides were fabricated using donor's formalin-fixed paraffinembedded (FFPE) blocks that comprised specimens of ovarian carcinomas tissues with the subtypes of endometrioid and clear cell that were retrieved for a duration of nine years. A total of 19 FFPE blocks represented 19 cases of carcinoma of the ovary, which were categorised into two groups: ovarian cancer with endometriosis (EAOC, n=10) and ovarian cancer without endometriosis (n=9). All of these protein expressions were analysed using immunohistochemistry (IHC) technique. Following that, comparisons were made regarding the clinical and pathological characteristics of the ovarian carcinomas, as well as any discernible variations in expression levels between the two groups. In EAOC, PTEN expression was lower (88.9% vs. 100%, P=0.47) compared to those without endometriosis. Our findings revealed an increase of PI3K and IL-6 in EAOC than those devoid of endometriosis; 80% vs. 77.8%, P=1.00 and 70% vs 11.11%, P=0.35, respectively. In contrast, CD68 was significantly lower in endometriosis-associated ovarian cancer compared to those without endometriosis (40% vs. 66.67%, P=0.16). In conclusion, there were no significant difference in the mutational and inflammatory marker modifications between clear cell carcinoma and endometrioid adenocarcinoma of ovary with endometriosis.
