Abstract: A measurement of the direct CP violating charge asymmetries of the Dalitz plot linear slopes $A_g=(g^+-g^-)/(g^++g^-)$ in $K^\pm\to\pi^\pm\pi^+\pi^-$ and $K^\pm\to\pi^\pm\pi^0\pi^0$ decays by the NA48/2 experiment at CERN SPS is presented. A new technique of asymmetry measurement involving simultaneous $K^+$ and $K^-$ beams and a large data sample collected allowed a result of an unprecedented precision. The charge asymmetries were measured to be $A^c_g=(-1.5\pm2.2)\times10^{-4}$ with $3.11\times 10^9$ $K^{\pm}\to\pi^\pm\pi^+\pi^-$ decays, and $A^n_g=(1.8\pm1.8)\times10^{-4}$ with $9.13\times 10^7$ $K^{\pm}\to\pi^\pm\pi^0\pi^0$ decays. Abstract: A total of 235 698 Xi0 -> Lambda pi0 and 21 527 anti-Xi0 -> anti-Lambda pi0 decays were selected from data obtained by the NA48/1 experiment at CERN. From this sample, the lifetime of the Xi0 hyperon was measured to be (3.065 +- 0.012(stat) +- 0.014(syst)) x 10^-10 s. This result is about two standard deviations above the world average and an order of magnitude more precise than the previous best measurement. With the same data sample, we have measured the ratio of anti-Xi0 and Xi0 fluxes in proton collisions at 400 GeV/c on a beryllium target.

Abstract: The decay rate of $K_{S} \to \pi e \nu$ relative to the rate of $K_{L} \to \pi e \nu$ has been measured by the NA48 collaboration in a neutral Kaon beam originating from 400 GeV proton-Be interactions at the CERN SPS. The result is $0.993 \pm 0.026_{stat} \pm 0.022_{syst}$, compatible with 1 in agreement with the Standard Model prediction at tree level. It implies $BR(K_{S} \to\pi e \nu) = (7.05 \pm 0.18_{stat.} \pm 0.16_{syst.}) \times 10^{-4}$.

Abstract: This Letter reports on a new high precision measurement of the form factors of the KL → π± μ∓ νμ decay. The data sample of about 2.3 × 106 events was recorded in 1999 by the NA48 experiment at CERN. Studying the Dalitz plot density we measured a linear, λ+′ = (20.5 ± 2.2stat ± 2.4syst) × 10-3, and a quadratic, λ+″ = (2.6 ± 0.9stat ± 1.0syst) × 10-3 term in the power expansion of the vector form factor. No evidence was found for a second order term for the scalar form factor; the linear slope was determined to be λ0 = (9.5 ± 1.1stat ± 0.8syst) × 10-3. Using a linear fit our results were: λ+ = (26.7 ± 0.6stat ± 0.8syst) × 10-3 and λ0 = (11.7 ± 0.7stat ± 1.0syst) × 10-3. A pole fit of the form factors yields: mV = (905 ± 9stat ± 17syst) MeV / c2 and mS = (1400 ± 46stat ± 53syst) MeV / c2. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

With the standard Particle Data Group parameterization the following values of the slope parameters were obtained: $g=(-21.134 \pm 0.014)$%, $h=(1.848 \pm 0.039)$%, $k=(-0.463 \pm 0.012)$%. The quality and statistical accuracy of the data have allowed an improvement in precision by more than an order of magnitude, and are such as to warrant a more elaborate theoretical treatment, including pion-pion rescattering, which is in preparation. Abstract: We present a measurement of the ratio of the decay rates Γ (KL → π+ π-) / Γ (KL → π± e∓ ν), denoted as ΓK 2 π / ΓK e 3. The analysis is based on data taken during a dedicated run in 1999 by the NA48 experiment at the CERN SPS. Using a sample of 47 000 K2 π and five million Ke 3 decays, we find ΓK 2 π / ΓK e 3 = (4.835 ± 0.022stat . ± 0.016syst .) × 10-3. From this we derive the branching ratio of the CP violating decay KL → π+ π- and the CP violation parameter | η+ - |. Excluding the CP conserving direct photon emission component KL → π+ π- γ, we obtain the results BR (KL → π+ π-) = (1.941 ± 0.019) × 10-3 and | η+ - | = (2.223 ± 0.012) × 10-3. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. Abstract: 20 pages, 7 figures, accepted by Phys. Lett. B; We present a measurement of the ratio of the decay rates Gamma(KL -> pi+ pi-)/Gamma(KL -> pi e nu), denoted as Gamma(K2pi)/Gamma(Ke3). The analysis is based on data taken during a dedicated run in 1999 by the NA48 experiment at the CERN SPS. Using a sample of 47000 K2pi and five million Ke3 decays, we find Gamma(K2pi)/Gamma(Ke3) = (4.835 +- 0.022(stat) +- 0.016(syst)) x 10^-3. From this we derive the branching ratio of the CP violating decay KL -> pi+ pi- and the CP violation parameter |eta+-|. Excluding the CP conserving direct photon emission component KL -> pi+ pi- gamma, we obtain the results BR(KL -> pi+ pi-) = (1.941 +- 0.019) x 10^-3 and |eta+-| = (2.223 +- 0.012) x 10^-3.

Abstract: 22 pages 7 figures; This paper reports on a new high precision measurement of the form factors of the K_{L}\to \pi^{\pm} \mu^{\mp} \nu_{\mu} decay. The data sample of about 2.3$\times 10^{6}$ events was recorded in 1999 by the NA48 experiment at CERN. Studying the Dalitz plot density we measured a linear, $\lambda^{'}_{+} = (20.5\pm 2.2_{stat} \pm 2.4_{syst})\times 10^{-3}$, and a quadratic, $\lambda^{''}_{+} = (2.6\pm 0.9_{stat} \pm 1.0_{syst})\times 10^{-3}$ term in the power expansion of the vector form factor. No evidence was found for a second order term for the scalar form factor; the linear slope was determined to be $\lambda_{0} = (9.5\pm 1.1_{stat} \pm 0.8_{syst})\times 10^{-3}$. Using a linear fit our results were: $\lambda_{+} = (26.7\pm 0.6_{stat} \pm 0.8_{syst} )\times 10^{-3}$ and, $\lambda_{0} = (11.7\pm 0.7_{stat} \pm 1.0_{syst})\times 10^{-3}$. A pole fit of the form factors yields: $m_V = (905 \pm 9_{stat} \pm 17_{syst})$ MeV/c$^2$ and $m_S = (1400 \pm 46_{stat} \pm 53_{syst})$ MeV/c$^2$.

Abstract: Measured ratios of decay rates for $\Re_{K_{e3}/K_{2\pi}}, \Re_{K_{\mu3}/K_{2\pi}}$ and $\Re_{K_{\mu3}/K_{e3}}$ are presented. These measurements are based on $K^{\pm}$ decays collected in a dedicated run in 2003 by the NA48/2 experiment at CERN. The results obtained are $\Re_{K_{e3}/K_{2\pi}} = 0.2496 \pm 0.0009_{(stat)} \pm 0.0004_{(syst)}$ and $\Re_{K_{mu3}K_{2\pi}} = 0.1637 \pm 0.0006_{(stat)} \pm 0.0003_{(syst)}$. Using the PDG average for the $K^{\pm} \rightarrow \pi^{\pm}\pi^{0}$ normalisation mode, both values are found to be larger than the current values given by the Particle Data Book and lead to a larger magnitude of the $|V_{us}|$ CKM parameter than previously accepted. In addition, a new measured value of $\Re_{K_{\mu3}/K_{e3}} = 0.656 \pm 0.003_{(stat)} \pm 0.001_{(syst)}$ is compared to the semi-empirical predictions based on the latest form factor measurements. Measured ratios of decay rates for Ke3/K2\pi, K\mu3/K2\pi and K\mu3/Ke3 are presented. These measurements are based on K^+- decays collected in a dedicated run in 2003 by the NA48/2 experiment at CERN. The results obtained are Ke3/K2\pi = 0.2470 +/- 0.0009 (stat) +/- 0.0004 (syst) and K\mu3/K2\pi = 0.1637 +/- 0.0006 (stat) +/- 0.0003 (syst). Using the PDG average for the K^+- -> \pi^+-\pi^0 normalisation mode, both values are found to be larger than the current values given by the Particle Data Book and lead to a larger magnitude of the |V_{us}| CKM element than previously accepted. When combined with the latest Particle Data Book value of |V_{ud}|, the result is in agreement with unitarity of the CKM matrix. In addition, a new measured value of K\mu3/Ke3 = 0.663 +/- 0.003(stat) +/- 0.001(syst) is compared to the semi-empirical predictions based on the latest form factor measurements.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the ratio of the decay rates $\Gamma (K_L \rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-) / \Gamma(K_L \rightarrow\pi^{\pm}e^{\mp}\nu)$, denoted as $\Gamma_{K2\pi}/\Gamma_{Ke3}$. The analysis is based on data taken during a dedicated run in 1999 by the NA48 experiment at the CERN SPS. Using a sample of 47000 $K_{2\pi}$ and five million $K_{e3}$ decays, we find $\Gamma_{K2\pi}/\Gamma_{Ke3} = (4.835 \pm 0.022_{stat.} \pm 0.016_{syst.}) \times 10^{-3}$. From this we derive the branching ratio of the CP violating decay $K_L \rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-$ and the CP violation parameter $|\eta_{+-}|$. Excluding the CP conserving direct photon emission component $K_L \rightarrow \pi^+\pi^-\gamma$, we obtain the results BR$(K_L \rightarrow \pi^+\pi^-) = (1.941 \pm 0.019) \times 10^{-3}$ and $|\eta_{+-}| = (2.223 \pm 0.012) \times 10^{-3}$.

Abstract: From 56 days of data taking in 2002, the NA48/1 experiment observed 6316 $\Xi^{0}\rightarrow \Sigma^{+} e^{-} \overline{\nu}_{e}$ candidates (with the subsequent $\Sigma^{+} \rightarrow p \pi^{0}$ decay) and 555 $\overline{\Xi^{0}}\rightarrow \overline{\Sigma^{+}} e^{+} \nu_{e}$ candidates with background contamination of $215 \pm 44$ and $136 \pm 8$ events, respectively. From these samples, the branching ratios BR($\Xi^{0}\rightarrow \Sigma^{+} e^{-} \overline{\nu}_{e})=(2.51 \pm0.03_{\mathrm{stat}}\pm 0.09_{\mathrm{syst}})\times10^{-4}$ and BR($\overline{\Xi^{0}}\rightarrow \overline{\Sigma^{+}} e^{+} \nu_{e})= (2.55 \pm 0.12_{\mathrm{stat}}\pm{0.10}_{\mathrm{syst}}) \times 10^{-4}$ were measured allowing the determination of the CKM matrix element $|V_{\mathrm{us}}| = 0.209^{+0.023}_{-0.028}$. Using the Particle Data Group average for $|V_{\mathrm{us}}|$ obtained in semileptonic kaon decays, we measured the ratio $g_1/f_1 = 1.20 \pm 0.05$ of the axial-vector to vector form factors.

Abstract: The NA48 collaboration has measured the amplitude of the CP-conserving component of the decay $K^{0}_{S} \to \pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}$ relative to $K^{0}_{L} \to \pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}$. For the characteristic parameter $\lambda$, the values Re $\lambda = 0.038 \pm 0.010$ and Im $\lambda = - 0.013 \pm 0.007$ have been extracted. These values agree with earlier measurements and with theoretical predictions from chiral perturbation theory.

Abstract: The decay rate of the neutral long-lived $K$ meson into the $e^{+}e^{-}e^{+}e^{-}$ final state has been measured with the NA48 detector at the CERN SPS. Using data collected in 1999, a total of 132 events has been observed with negligible background. The total number of kaons was determined to be $5.1 \times 10^{10}$. This observation corresponds to a preliminary branching ratio of $\Gamma(K_{L} \to e^{+}e^{-}e^{+}e^{-})/\Gamma(K_{L} \to all) = (3.67 \pm 0.32_{(stat)} \pm 0.23_{(sys)} \pm 0.08_{(norm)}) \times 10^{-8}$, where the first error is statistical, the second systematic, and the third error is due to the uncertainty in the normalization. The decay rate of the neutral long-lived K meson into the e+ e- e+ e- final state has been measured with the NA48 detector at the CERN SPS. Using data collected in 1999, a total of 132 events has been observed with negligible background. The total number of kaons was determined to be 5.1 x 10^10. This observation corresponds to a preliminary branching ratio of Gamma(K_L -> e+ e- e+ e-)/Gamma(K_L -> all) = (3.67 +- 0.32(stat) +- 0.23(sys) +- 0.08(norm)) x 10^-8, where the first error is statistical, the second systematic, and the third error is due to the uncertainty in the normalization.

Abstract: Using data taken during the year 2000 with the NA48 detector at the CERN SPS, a search for the CP violating decay K_S -> 3 pi0 has been performed. From a fit to the lifetime distribution of about 4.9 million reconstructed K0/K0bar -> 3 pi0 decays, the CP violating amplitude eta_000 = A(K_S -> 3 pi0)/A(K_L -> 3 pi0) has been found to be Re(eta_000) = -0.002 +- 0.011 +- 0.015 and Im(eta_000) = -0.003 +- 0.013 +- 0.017. This corresponds to an upper limit on the branching fraction of Br(K_S -> 3 pi0) < 7.4 x 10^-7 at 90% confidence level. The result is used to improve knowledge of Re(epsilon) and the CPT violating quantity Im(delta) via the Bell-Steinberger relation., Comment: 18 pages, 7 figures, submitted to Phys. Lett. B
