Abstract

We aimed to focus on clinical features, on diagnosis of this pathology and to review the most controversial aspect of management. We reviewed 10 in patients between 1995 and 2020. All patients were treated with broad-spectrum antibiotherapy, anticoagulation in 9 patients, and surgery required in 9 patients.

186. Sinonasal hemangiopericytoma: two case reports and review of literature

Abstract

Hemangiopericytoma is a rare tumor that arises from pericytes, classified as a low-grade malignant vascular tumor. It is characterised by a poorly clinical presentation and histologically, often confused with other fibrous tumors, which could pose difficulties on the diagnosis. The nasal cavity is an uncommon site. The rarity of this tumor imply the absence of management guidelines. So far, it still controversial regarding wether the endonasal surgery could control the tumor resection despite the wide performance, nowdays, of endoscopic techniques. It still unclear also conserning the use of embolization before surgery removal and the place of chemotheray. The high rate of recurrence impose long-term follow-up. So that, we report our experience through two cases and we aimed to discuss the clinical features and the differents treatement procedures. In fact, they are two women who consulted for epistaxis and nasal obstruction. Vascular masses were visualized with nasal endoscopy – one in the left nasal cavity and the second one had a destructive mass of the right hemiface . CT and MRI helped identify the mass, its margins and its extirpability. DiagnosIs was confirmed by histology. In one patient, surgery was performed. The second patient had an agressive and invading tumor for which chemotherapy was performed. The first patient remained free of disease after surgery. The second one had a fatal evolution.

Abstract

The environmental pollution and the rapid depletion of fossil fuel caused by the rapid increase in industrial production became serious problems for humans. These issues have inspired many researchers to found eco-friendly materials, which can degrade pollutants and produce green energy. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films are one of the important and promising semiconductor materials for environmental and energy applications because of their unique optical and electronic properties. In this chapter, an overview of the background of TiO2 structure and the different methods of synthesis TiO2 thin films were carried out. The photocatalytic water treatment and the water split for H2 production by TiO2 thin films were investigated. The strong influence on photocatalytic and water split efficiency of TiO2 thin films by crystal structure, surface area, crystalline structure, average particle size and porosity were summarized.

Abstract

The two-dimensional (2D) graphitic carbon nitride currently has attracted attention for his electronic structure and optical properties. It is a good candidate for photocatalytic applications. The graphitic carbon nitride has been successfully synthesis and characterized by XRD, FTIR and UV–Vis Spectroscopy. The influence of acids treatment on structural and optical properties of g-C3N4 has been examined. It was found that the treatment of g-C3N4 bulk by different acids shows a disorder in the structure of samples which affect the optical performance of material. For the determination of the contributions of each orbital to the valence band maximum and the minimum conduction band the electronic structure of g-C3N4 has been investigated by density functional theory. The theoretical investigation reveals that the lone pair state and the π bonding play an important role in the electronic structure of graphitic carbon nitride and favorites the absorption of the g-C3N4 in the visible light. The optical properties such as the extinction coefficient (k), the refractive index (n), the optical conductivity ( σ opt ), and the dielectric function (εr, εi) have been explored by DFT calculation and confirmed by the experimental results. Abstract

The impact of pressure on structural parameters, electronic structure and magnetic properties in MoS2 bulk material has been investigated using spin-polarized full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method in the Tran-Blaha-modified Becke-Johnson gradient approximation approach. Our findings at zero pressure in MoS2 bulk material are usually dealing with the obtainable experimental input. With increasing pressure, the lattice parameters of MoS2 bulk material are reduced, the material of interest has tendency to a metallic character and the total magnetic moment is increased non-monotonically in both spin-up and spin-down conduits. The impact of pressure on structural properties is more important vs. c-axis than a-axis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
