The management of a health system is a matter of economics and business administration because of the costs induced by goods and services delivered. Economics teaches us that the positive effects induced by competition in free markets cannot be expected in health care, which is a classic example of market failure from both demand and supply sides. The most sensible key concepts to refer for managing a health system are funding and provision. While the logical solution for the first variable is universal coverage through general taxation, the second one requires a deeper understanding. Integrated care is the modern approach that better supports the choice in favour of the public sector also for service provision. A major threat against this approach is dual practice legally allowed for health professionals, which inevitably raises financial conflicts of interest. An exclusive contract of employment for civil servants should be the sine qua non for providing public services effectively and efficiently. Integrated care is particularly important for long-term chronic illnesses associated with high levels of disability, such as neurodegenerative diseases and mental disorders, where the mix of health and social services needed can be very complex. Nowadays the growing number of community-dwelling patients with multiple physical and mental health needs is the major challenge for the European health systems. This happens also in public health systems, which should provide universal health coverage in principle, and the case of mental disorders is striking. In the light of this theoretical exercise, we strongly believe that a public National Health and Social Service should be the most indicated model for both funding and providing health and social care in modern societies. The big challenge of the common model of European health system here envisaged would be to limit the negative influences of politics and bureaucracy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Regional development is a strategic objective at the European level that aims to eliminate disparities between different regions. The purpose of the paper is to document the interest in this objective using the research methodology by developing a bibliometric analysis, a quantitative research method, in the form of an inventory of the publishing activities specific to the field studied. The data analysed are from the Web of Science platform and refer to scientific works, books, and documentation in specialized journals. The query resulted in a number of 984 scientific documents containing the English acronym "regional development". June 4, 2023, the query was applied to publications from the last 5 years, published in European countries with research fields (Business Economics, Educational Research of Education, Management Science of Operational Research). The results confirm the growth of scientific interest in the field of regional development. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Disruptive innovation (DI) provides an explanation for firms' success and failure in the business economy. Building on Karimi and Walter (2015), whose study ascertains dynamic capabilities (DC) in responding to digital platforms and firm performance, this study extends their model by examining the effect of relational capabilities as DC in international and national executive search consultancies (CERS) based in Brazil. CERS have been fundamentally changing their traditional operating business models because of digital platforms. Thus, a survey questionnaire from 141 CERS executives measured the impact of DC on CERS performance and digital platforms. The findings highlight that DC is positively associated with digital platform capacity and CERS performance, as Karimi and Walter (2015) also highlighted. We believe that the findings impact practitioners because this study is original in the context of CERS and valuable for new business model formation, showing that DCs are relevant in any dynamic business scenario. Theoretically, this study enhances DC and DI theories, confirming that digital platform capabilities are a powerful strategic choice to reinvent core business functions and accelerate innovativeness. MANAGERIAL economics ,PERSONAL property ,RISK aversion - Abstract
Equivalencebetween insuring income and what is bought with income is commonly assumed. It seems to be implicitly held that uninsured but replaceable goods will always be replaced if they fail. This does not follow. People may have difficulty coming up with the money to pay for a replacement out of pocket. Also, the income effect of a loss may mean that replacement is not worthwhile. We show that as a result, equivalence breaks down. Both theory and evidence are provided. Implications include a tendency of empirical papers to overestimate risk aversion, a reason why demand for insurance increases with income, and the mistaken attribution of preference inconsistency. This paper is part of the Economica 100 Series. Economica, the LSE "house journal" is now 100 years old. To commemorate this achievement, we are publishing 100 papers by former students, as well as current and former faculty. David de Meza is the Eric Sosnow Professor of Management in the LSE Department of Management. He obtained both his BSc and MSc from the LSE. Diane Reyniers is a Professor of Managerial Economics and Strategy in the Department of Management at the LSE. She obtained both her MSc and PhD from the LSE. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To date there has been little systematic organization of the extensive literature on the processes and mechanisms shaping social relationships in and around organizations. In an analysis of 372 studies from this literature, we identified a broad spectrum of assumptions, priorities, and relational issues emerging from multiple disciplines and theoretical lenses. Three dominant perspectives surfaced in our study: economic, organizational, and interactionist. Each manifests distinctive ontologies of social relations, actors, relational processes, and modes of social embedding. The rich variety of relationships and causal patterns discovered characterizes more fully these perspectives, suggesting opportunities for further research within each, and a wider range of conceptual options to target relational paradigms toward different types of organizations, problems, and levels of analysis. It also brings to light the pluralistic nature of social relations in organizational contexts and the processes by which they become embedded. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: In order to support decisions regarding governance, organization and control models of the healthcare system, the Swedish government, as well as regional-level agencies, regularly commissions expert reports that are supposed to form the basis for decisions on new steering forms in healthcare. Aim: The aim of this study was a) to perform a descriptive mapping of commissioned reports on Swedish healthcare governance and b) to pursue an in-depth content analysis of a strategic sample of such reports. Method: Initially, 106 reports from both national and regional levels were gathered and analysed. A matrix was constructed, consisting of questions on who had commissioned the report, who had produced it, what problems the report set out to solve and what solutions were suggested. Further, questions were posed on whether the report was research-based and whether ethical assumptions and arguments were presented. Thereafter, a strategic sample of 36 reports was selected for an in-depth analysis, using inductive content analysis. Results: The descriptive mapping showed that the aim of the analysed reports differed in form and content, and that they varied from giving an overview and investigating effects and consequences of new control models to more concrete goals, such as suggesting improvement measures. Academic experts involved in creating the reports often represented economics or business studies. The content analysis revealed examples of standardization in care, characterized by requirements to follow national guidelines, but also examples of requests for increased respect for professionals' competence and experience. Further, the analysis showed how the definition of equity in care had changed, from a focus on equity in access to care in the reports produced in the 1990s to an emphasis of arguments for geographical sameness and equity in quality of care in the later reports. Discussion: Two dominant trends were identified in the material, namely increased standardization and arguments for trust in the system. The great number of reports implies that the system risks requesting more information than it can handle and result in documents where the same message is recurrently repeated or create conflicts of interest and value tensions between different suggestions. Conclusion: Commissioned reports can have substantial consequences for new reforms of management practices in healthcare. It is therefore important to investigate them critically. The results of our investigation may contribute to a more comprehensive and adequate model for acquiring and using expert reports regarding healthcare governance, both in Sweden and in similar healthcare systems. The development of Smart Local Energy Systems (SLES) in the UK is part of the energy transition tackling the energy trilemma and contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Project developers and other stakeholders need to independently assess the performance of these systems: how well they meet their aims to successfully deliver multiple benefits and objectives. This article describes a step undertaken by the EnergyREV Research Consortium in developing a standardised Multi-Criteria Assessment (MCA) tool—specifically a discrete choice experiment (DCE) to determine the weighting of key performance indicators (KPIs). The MCA tool will use a technology-agnostic framework to assess SLES projects, track system performance and monitor benefit realisation. In order to understand the perceived relative importance of KPIs across different stakeholders, seven DCEs were conducted via online surveys (using 1000minds software). The main survey (with 234 responses) revealed that Environment was considered the most important criterion, with a mean weight of 21.6%. This was followed by People and Living (18.9%), Technical Performance (17.8%) and Data Management (14.7%), with Business and Economics and Governance ranked the least important (13.9% and 13.1%, respectively). These results are applied as weightings to calculate overall scores in the EnergyREV MCA-SLES tool. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Augmented reality enhances the sensory experience of the real world, often across multiple senses such as visual, hearing, tactile and sensorimotor, with technology using computer-generated sensory input. Current literature reviews of augmented reality mainly focus on its generic usage or specific topics, such as medicine or tourism. However, augmented reality has become one of the prevalent topics in business and economics since it is one of the main growth drivers of disruptive companies. Since many companies are considering its usage in their business models, there is a lack of literature review in business and economics. Therefore, this paper aims to present a literature review of the scientific research that investigates the broad range of usage of augmented reality in business and economics. Web of Knowledge has been searched with the keywords "augmented reality" within the research area of business and economics for 2017-2021. Bibliometric analysis has been conducted to investigate the main journals, conferences, authors and countries. Finally, text mining with VosViewer has been conducted to extract the main topics, which are: (i): Technologies; Education; (ii) e-Commerce; Retailing; (iii) Tourism; User Experience; (iv) Consumers; Purchase. The results indicate that the research of augmented reality in business and economics focused on various applications, among which education is one of the emerging ones. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

How college students perceive and approach learning is important for quality education. This study was then aimed to explore sophomore students' conceptions of and, approaches to learning and the association between students' conceptions of and approaches to learning at Arba Minch University in the College of Business and Economics. A cross-sectional descriptive survey design was adopted to describe the phenomenon. Using the systematic random sampling technique of every 7th, 140 students were selected. To collect data on the conceptions of and approaches to learning, the Approaches and Study Skills Inventory for Students (ASSIST) was used. To decide whether there was a difference between transforming and reproducing learning conceptions, an independent sample t-test was applied. To examine and compare the learning approaches, one-way ANOVA and post hoc were applied while Pearson product-moment correlation was employed to scrutinize the association between the students' conceptions of and approaches to learning. The results revealed that the students had both the transforming/qualitative and the reproducing/quantitative conceptions of learning although they had exceedingly the transforming conception over the reproducing conception. Besides, the students adopted dual learning approaches of the deep and the strategic equally although they practically used to employ the strategic approach. Teachers have been recommended to assist their students to develop the transforming conception, and approach to learning that enhances meaning-making and understanding through inquiry-based experimentation, and problem-solving. As well, on-job seminars should be prepared for the College instructors on the needs and use of the approaches to learning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The ongoing information and technological revolution, as well as the Covid-19 pandemic, accelerated the use of e-learning worldwide. Objectives: This article aims to present the results of our empirical research among students of economics and business from Central and Eastern Europe on the advantages and disadvantages of e-learning. Methods/Approach: The article uses a survey, and the research sample included 1647 respondents (students of economics and business) from universities in three countries: Croatia, Poland, and Serbia. We used the multivariate comparative analysis (factor analysis and principal components analysis) by applying Statistica computer software. Results: The assessment of individual forms of e-learning in the three countries is similar. In e-learning, investigated students appreciated, first of all, the time-saving. At the same time, it is difficult to concentrate and harder to develop the interpersonal skills needed to work in a real environment. Conclusions: E-learning seems to be a vital instrument complementing traditional learning, as the respondents declared. However, it should not replace traditional face-to-face education; it should only support it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study aims to advance an international political economy (IPE) perspective that geo-political events can have long-lasting imprint effects on countries and their firms. The study also aims to explore the idea that shared political history and geography combine to create specific structural conditions that shape the international competitiveness of all firms in a region. In particular, the authors consider whether the Monroe Doctrine of 1823, which asserted American influence in the Western Hemisphere, contributed to the creation of institutional structures across Latin America (LA) affecting the strategies of all firms to this day. The authors also illustrate the IPE perspective using the example of the contemporary international competitiveness of LA business groups. Design/methodology/approach: The authors illustrate the IPE perspective using the example of the contemporary international competitiveness of LA business groups. The exploratory framework of this study leads to a proposition about the export performance of Latin American business group affiliates. The authors use firm-level performance data for 32,000 firms across emerging economies to explore the proposition empirically while controlling for alternative explanations. To do this, the authors draw on the World Bank Economic Surveys. Findings: The authors derive a proposition that argues the Monroe Doctrine has had a long-run imprint effect on economic policymaking in LA, resulting in a common, persistent and negative impact on the international competitiveness of firms. The authors find strong and consistent evidence that in terms of export performance, all Latin American firms export less and group affiliates do not outperform independent firms, This finding contrasts with the results for all the other emerging market regions around the world. Research limitations/implications: The main contribution of this study has been to suggest the potential importance of shared regional geopolitical history and geography in explaining firm-level outcomes. However, this study is preliminary and introductory, although the authors seek to control for alternative country-specific explanations of the results. The analysis considers the effects of one particular IPE phenomenon, the Monroe Doctrine, in one particular location: LA. Future work should seek to contrast LA with other geopolitical security and alternative IPE structures. They might also address the time dimension from a historical perspective: is imprinting in LA driven by the length of the Monroe Doctrine arrangements? Practical implications: The most important managerial learning point concerns the relevance of geography and political economy factors for multinational enterprises strategy formation. There is widespread understanding that context is an important determinant of subsidiaries' performance, and that strategies need to be constructed to take account of country-specific characteristics, most importantly, in emerging economies and institutional arrangements. This paper proposes that managers also need to take account of IPE structures, including security arrangements, and to consider the resulting regional as well as national context. Social implications: The analysis suggests that not only the performance of firms, including emblematic firms, but also the socially beneficial spillovers that might be generated from them, are contingent on the regional as well as national characteristics. Thus, business groups in most emerging economies are found to yield better performance and to provide higher levels of social impact, including concerning ESG goals. However, the findings of this study suggest that the former is not true for LA, which, the authors argue, is a consequence of imprinting as a result of the Monroe Doctrine. Further work is needed to establish whether the latter effect is also not true, but if that is the case, then regionally specific policies may be required to address the resulting corporate social shortfalls. Originality/value: The core idea is that geo-political events can have long-lasting imprint effects on countries and their firms: that shared political history and geography create specific structural conditions that shape the international competitiveness of all firms in a region. The authors explore this concept with reference to the Monroe Doctrine, asking whether its assertion of US influence across the Americas contributed to the creation of institutional structures across LA affecting the strategies of all firms to this day. This debut work offers a stunning look at real vs nominal prices that consider more than just inflation. The inadequate examination of hospitality price comparison is investigated between two non-neighbouring Adriatic east coast countries – Slovenia and Montenegro – using the euro. Hospitality prices are an essential indicator in hospitality markets, destination marketing and management planning. Using 73 monthly time-series data for the economic crisis period from December 2008 to December 2014, this period covers one shock in a series. One of the key managerial features of cointegrated spatial hospitality price spread was that Montenegro followed Slovenian hospitality prices. Hospitality prices in Montenegro and Slovenia tend to be weakly integrated into the long term and seasonally driven in the short term. In addition, the econometric experimentation has given a theoretical novelty for underpinned and undermined tourism economy modelling in normalities. This state-of-the-art econometric feature is included in a customary vector error correction model (VECM). Robust applied results recognise that hospitality prices in Montenegro are domestic driven and in Slovenia Eurozone driven. This finding is relevant for applied economics on obtaining a normally distributed price model. Its theoretical and managerial implications are vital for hospitality economics, marketing and tourism management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Few studies explored whether publications in international peer-reviewed journals and publications in national journals, so-called
local publications , affect academic promotion and whether their impact varies for different categories of scientists. Moreover, recruitment policies have mostly tried to incentivize international publications, but in recent years, some countries have promoted publications in national outlets, and the impact of such policies has not been explored. The goal of this article is to address these gaps considering all active Turkish full professors in Business and Economics (n = 1470) and the factors affecting the time to promotion. We found that international publications and, to a lesser extent, local publications predict significantly faster promotion, but with very different impact across categories of scientists. Moreover, local articles’ impact on time-to-promotion increased after the introduction of new regulations that encouraged publication in national journals, whereas international publications became completely irrelevant. Self-citation, an important aspect of academic work [1], requires careful oversight to protect the integrity and perception of scholarly contributions. Although self-referencing is often necessary for expanding upon past research, an excessive amount can negatively affect a researcher's reputation and rankings in academic indices. Indices/Lists like the Highly Cited Researcher (HCR) [2] index by Clarivate Analytics often adjust or exclude metrics associated with high self-citation rates to provide a more accurate representation of a researcher's impact, thereby enhancing visibility and credibility. According to the authors of [3] [4], self-citation rates typically range from 7.38% in Economics & Business to 15.6% in Mathematics. The same authors in [3] recommend keeping self-citations below 10%, which aligns with the general agreement among academic institutions and researchers. Maintaining this limit helps in qualifying for prestigious rankings and awards, promoting fair competition in academia. There are several methods to verify the self-citation ratio, with two of the most popular ones being the use of the Scopus platform [5] and the Web of Science (WOS) portal by Clarivate [6]. Scopus and WOS do not directly display the self-citation rate, but they do offer both the total citation count and the count excluding selfcitations. Additionally, these portals can generate a citation report for authors, providing details on the number of citations, h-index, citing articles (with an option to exclude self-citations), and a year-by-year breakdown of citation counts. To find the self-citation rate Scopus and WOS, subtract the number of citations excluding self-citations from the total citations, divide this result by the total number of citations, and then multiply by 100 to get the percentage. For instance, if the total citations are 12,526 and the citations excluding selfcitations are 12,000, the difference of 526 self-citations divided by the total results in a rate of 4.199%. This percentage indicates how much self-citations add to the overall citation count, which is important for maintaining appropriate citation standards. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Master's Thesis from the year 2023 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, University of Zambia, language: English, abstract: This study explores and examines the influence of Entrepreneurial Alertness (EA) on Small to Medium Enterprises (SME) performance within the Central Business District (CBD) of Lusaka. The study participants included 152 entrepreneurs who own SMEs represented by 44.7% females and 55.3% males. The purpose of the study was to investigate the influence that the EA construct has on SME performance, the association between the first order latent constructs, and to determine which roles of EA in venture performance were appropriate to the participants. A cross-sectional survey was created using Qualtrics online survey software and sent through email and what's app to SME's whose contact details were provided by the Zambia Development Agency. The construct of EA was examined using a 13-point scale. Descriptive statistics were conducted in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed in Amos SPSS to verify the factor structure of the observed variables and to ascertain the validity, and reliability of the measuring instrument. The influence of EA on SME performance and association between the first-order latent variables with performance were tested using multivariate Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The study found that the construct of EA has a positive and significant influence on SME performance. As regards the association between the first-order latent constructs (i.e., dimensions) and performance, this study demonstrated that only the evaluation and judgment latent construct (dimension) had a significant and positive association. Finally, the study determined that EA appears to be important when a company considers entering a foreign market as a strategy for market development, and EA has a direct impact on strategic change decisions and organizational performance. The study has implications for education, commerce, and industrial policymakers. Policy initiatives could influence training curriculum and capacity-building programs that promote EA to increase entrepreneurial opportunity identifications for increased national performance and contribution.

- Abstract
The result of half a century of research and experimentation in economics and management, this Treatise is intended for management practitioners. Socio-economic management (SEAM) makes the demands of humanism in professional life and sustainable economic prosperity compatible. It is illustrated with numerous cases from 2,150 companies and organizations from a wide variety of sectors and presents observed and measured results. Most of these chapters are written jointly by managers or executives of companies and organizations, and scholars or consultants involved in the pilot actions. This book is the work of 193 authors, from 16 countries and 4 continents, practitioners or academics in management sciences and management. This reflects the diversity of national and sectoral contexts of SEAM applications. Some chapters situate this concept in relation to the major currents of current thought. Each chapter is preceded by abstracts in French, English and Spanish. The prefaces, signed by Herman Aguinis and Rene Ricol, show the scope of socio-economic theory and management beyond the borders of the company. The book illustrates the international influence (48 countries) of the innovative and robust methods created and developed by the ISEOR team. Socio-economic theory constitutes a'breakthrough innovation', both in terms of its conceptual contribution and the practical methods and tools of its applications. This holistic approach touches on the different functions of the company and its multiple problems. It provides a structured change management method, focused on stimulating Human Potential and on self-financing the development of the company or organization, through the periodic recycling of hidden costs.

Purpose: Paper is an attempt at theoretical and practical answer to the question about the economic preparation of young people for Economy 4.0. Design/methodology/approach: The paper consists of a literature study relating to research findings on multicompetence vs specialization of youth attending secondary schools and a review of own research with young people carried out as part of the project "New Generation in the New Economy" carried out at the Poznań University of Economics and Business in 2021- 2022. Findings: The results confirm high correlations between competencies. Authors calculated also the Competencies Index, as the arithmetic mean from normalized results of all measured competencies. This lead to the recognition of inconstant variabilities of competencies along the Competencies Index results. The variability of competencies levels is much bigger among students with average lower multicompentecies index. Research limitations/implications: The results of the conducted own research seem worth carrying out on subsequent groups of respondents and on a larger population of them. Particular attention should be paid to the research sample - panel studies taking into account cultural differences, age, gender and the type of school attended by the respondents seem particularly interesting in the future. The undertaken research topic is undoubtedly worth exploring and more extensive research. Practical implications: As indicated by literature research, the competences analyzed in the paper are the subject of interest of various stakeholders (including scientists, institutions and organizations responsible for education or the future of the labor market). Originality/value: The novelty of the paper comes from unique research consisting all the most important competencies. This allowed to measure the relations between them, calculate the multicompetencies index and check if inter-competency differentiation is different in the group of people well prepared for Economy 4.0 and in the group of people with worse preparation. Pre-university policy can determine the success (or failure) of university studies. Using different econometric techniques, this work carries out an exploratory study to assess the relationship between the mathematics skills developed at upper secondary school and performance and retention in university studies in the Economic-Business area. Our findings point out the recommended secondary education track to access the Economics, Business and Marketing Degrees is not the most suitable to achieve success in these studies. A set of specific proposals of Educational Policy is shown. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The encyclical Fratelli Tutti in Catholic social thought invites its readers to a culture of care in the contemporary context. This paper elaborates on three important considerations in putting this culture of care into practice in business, specifically for social entrepreneurs. First, the new encyclical challenges social entrepreneurs to creatively address ethical issues in a transnational world. Second, the document further emphasizes the focus on businesses as embedded within an integrated community, balancing the challenges between the local and global community. Third, this challenge includes going beyond the same metrics, assumptions, and strategies inscribed in traditional business and economics that often prioritize profit over all else. The paper uses Habi, a social enterprise, as an example of how these three considerations are operationalized. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Of course, a reference to Shakespeare's I Hamlet i , but for entrepreneurship scholars more importantly, to William Baumol's ([10]) lament that in mainstream economics the entrepreneur had been ignored. Recall that, in contrast to naïve entrepreneurship policies, the aim of these proposals was not to promote new firm creation, start-ups or support small- and medium-sized enterprise, per se, but to improve access to resources for potential challengers of the status quo, wherever they may find themselves. There are three major challenges that put existing economic paradigms in crisis and present an important opportunity for entrepreneurship scholars today. It would support challengers as employers, competing for labour in a market where people value their income security, and as entrepreneurs whose own incomes can be volatile and uncertain, especially in the early stages of their ventures. This research is based on expectancy theory to investigate "internal attraction" and "external attraction" and integrate "belief" into the research framework that motivates lecturers to publish their research. Findings of regression analysis from a sample of 475 lecturers in business and economics have revealed that lecturers are motivated by both "internal attraction" and "external attraction"; however, the impact of "internal attraction" is stronger than that of "external attraction" on international publication but weaker on national publication. Belief is found not to influence motivation for national research publications, but negatively influences motivation for international research publications. The research results also reveal that the motivation for international research publications of professors and associate professors is higher than the motivation of other lecturers, irrespective of age and gender. Based on the research results, proper implications for policies to foster motivation for international and national research publications have been suggested for developing countries with constant changes in science and education. VALUE chains , *SMALL business , *MANAGERIAL economics , *FINANCIAL crises - Abstract
In this study, we introduce a unique longitudinal dataset from the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance Annual Survey (IMEFAS) to assess how micro and small enterprises (MSEs) partake in the global economy by tapping into global value chains (GVCs). The results of the empirical analysis show that the great majority of micro and small enterprises are unable to establish direct links with GVCs. However, two sub-categories of subcontractors and branded producers were able to accomplish upgrading and partake in GVCs after the 2008 economic crisis. For both groups of firms, strategies implemented in domestic value chains contributed to their future participation in GVCs. By identifying small firms' value chain decisions associated with their ability to access GVCs directly, this study sheds light on the microfoundations of GVCs. It paves the way for the future intersection of small business economics and GVCs, two areas of research that have seldom talked to each other. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study offers a systematic review of academic research on platforms in management, business and economics. By using two visualization tools named VOSviewer and CiteSpace, we analyzed 619 articles on platform research with associated 23,093 references from the Web of Science database. We have discerned the most impact publications, authors, journals, institutions and countries in the platform research. In addition, we have explored the structures of the cited references, cited authors and cited journals to further understand the theoretical basis of the platform research. Moreover, by evolution analysis through CiteSpace and co-occurrence analysis through VOSViewer, we explored the evolution process of platform research and predicted the future development trends. The results conjunctively achieved by VOSviewer and CiteSpace will enhance understanding of platform research and enable future developments for both theorists and practitioners.
