152. Investigating the determinants of fear of cancer recurrence in patients with early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer: Insights from a restricted cubic spline model

Abstract Objective This study aims to investigate the determinants and the dose–response relationship of fear of cancer recurrence among patients with early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), aiming to inform prevention and intervention strategies. Methods Employing a cross‐sectional design, we analyzed data from 677 postoperative NSCLC patients who received treatment at National Cancer Center between January 2022 and August 2023. Data collection involved a general demographic survey, the Fear of Progression Questionnaire‐Short Form, Hope Herth Index, and Social Support Rating Scale. We employed logistic regression and restricted cubic spline models to identify factors influencing fear of recurrence (FCR). Results Univariate regression analysis identified female gender and having minor children as significant risk factors, while being older than 60, a higher income, and elevated levels of hope and social support emerged as protective factors. Multivariate logistic regression revealed age (OR = 0.392, 95% CI 0.205–0.750), monthly income (OR = 0.016, 95% CI 0.315–0.886), hope level (OR = 0.305, 95% CI 0.187–0.496), and social support (OR = 0.584, 95% CI 0.375–0.908) as independent influencers of recurrence fear. The restricted cubic spline model indicated a nonlinear impact of hope and social support on this fear. Conclusion Analysis using the restricted cubic spline model underscores the influence of age, income, hope, and social support on FCR, with a nonlinear dose–response relationship evident between hope, social support, and fear. Prioritizing the enhancement of social support before increasing hope levels can rapidly and effectively alleviate FCR.

Abstract Proanthocyanidin‐rich grape seed extract (GSE) has been shown to have the potential to protect bones, although the underlying mechanism remains unknown. The current study aims to explore GSE's preventive and therapeutic impact on bone loss induced by oestrogen deficiency and the underlying mechanism through the gut microbiota (GM) and metabolomic responses. In oestrogen‐deficient ovariectomized (OVX) mice, GSE ameliorated bone loss by inhibiting the expansion of bone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT), restoring BMAT lipolysis and promoting bone formation. GSE regulated OVX‐induced GM dysbiosis by reducing the abundance of opportunistic pathogenic bacteria, such as Alistipes, Turicibacter and Romboutsia, while elevating the abundance of beneficial bacteria, such as Bifidobacterium. The modified GM primarily impacted lipid and amino acid metabolism. Furthermore, the serum metabolites of GSE exhibited a significant enrichment in lipid metabolism. In summary, GSE shows potential as a functional food for preventing oestrogen deficiency‐induced bone loss by modulating GM and metabolite‐mediated lipid metabolism.

154. Recognition of apnea and hypopnea by non-contact optical fiber mattress and its application in the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome: a retrospective study

Objectives This study sought to evaluate the diagnostic value of a non-contact optical fiber mattress for apnea and hypopnea and compare it with traditional polysomnography (PSG) in adult obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). Methods To determine the value of a non-contact optical fiber mattress for apnea and hypopnea, six healthy people and six OSAHS patients were selected from Tongji Hospital to design a program to identify apnea or hypopnea. A total of 108 patients who received polysomnography for drowsiness, snoring or other suspected OSAHS symptoms. All 108 patients were monitored with both the non-contact optical fiber mattress and PSG were collected. Results Six healthy controls and six patients with OSAHS were included. The mean apnea of the six healthy controls was 1.22 times/h, and the mean hypopnea of the six healthy controls was 2 times/h. Of the six patients with OSAHS, the mean apnea was 12.63 times/h, and the mean hypopnea was 19.25 times/h. The non-contact optical fiber mattress results showed that the mean apnea of the control group was 3.17 times/h and the mean hypopnea of the control group was 3.83 times/h, while the mean apnea of the OSAHS group was 11.95 times/h and the mean hypopnea of the OSAHS group was 17.77 times/h. The apnea index of the non-contact optical fiber mattress was positively correlated with the apnea index of the PSG (P < 0.05, r = 0.835), and the hypopnea index of the non-contact optical fiber mattress was also positively correlated with the hypopnea index of the PSG (P < 0.05, r = 0.959). The non-contact optical fiber mattress had high accuracy (area under curve, AUC = 0.889), specificity (83.4%) and sensitivity (83.3%) for the diagnosis of apnea. The non-contact fiber-optic mattress also had high accuracy (AUC = 0.944), specificity (83.4%) and sensitivity (100%) for the diagnosis of hypopnea. Among the 108 patients enrolled, there was no significant difference between the non-contact optical fiber mattress and the polysomnography monitor in total recording time, apnea hypopnea index (AHI), average heart rate, tachycardia index, bradycardia index, longest time of apnea, average time of apnea, longest time of hypopnea, average time of hypopnea, percentage of total apnea time in total sleep time and percentage of total hypopnea time in total sleep time. The AHI value of the non-contact optical fiber mattress was positively correlated with the AHI value of the PSG (P < 0.05, r = 0.713). The specificity and sensitivity of the non-contact optical fiber mattress AHI in the diagnosis of OSAHS were 95% and 93%, with a high OSAHS diagnostic accuracy (AUC = 0.984). Conclusion The efficacy of the non-contact optical fiber mattress for OSAHS monitoring was not significantly different than PSG monitoring. The specificity of the non-contact optical mattress for diagnosing OSAHS was 95% and its sensitivity was 93%, with a high OSAHS diagnostic accuracy.

Ampelopsis delavayana, a distinctive Yi medicine, utilized the roots as an essential medicinal substance for trauma treatment of the “Yunnan Hong Yao”. A. delavayana, however, cannot be cultivated artificially presently, and it has been described with a phenomenon of mixed utilization of roots and stems, impeding pharmaceutical quality control. In response to resource scarcity and standardization issues, the research comprehensively compares the material basis and efficacy of medicinal (roots) and non-medicinal (stems) parts by using chemical profiling and pharmacological methodologies. Chemical disparity between two parts was compared by TLC and HPLC. Analgesia and anti-inflammatory capabilities of both parts were comprehensively evaluated through acetic acid writhing test, hot plate test, and xylene-induced mouse ear swelling test. Additionally, all the extracts were evaluated for anti-inflammatory activities by monitoring regulation of the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IgE in ear tissue. Consequently, the findings of TLC and HPLC revealed substantial similarity in the material basis of the medicinal and non-medicinal parts of A. delavayana, and pharmacological activities of anti-inflammatory and analgesic between two parts were consistent. Different extracts remarkably reduced the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IgE, demonstrating no discernible differences. Collectively, the comprehensive exploitation indicated that the medicinal and non-medicinal parts of A. delavayana exhibited identical chemical profiling and bioactivities, providing a theoretical rationale and scientific evidence for using stems as a therapeutic part, thereby holding considerable potential for ameliorating the current status of its medicinal reserves.

Tobacco continuous cropping is prevalent in intensive tobacco agriculture but often leads to microbial community imbalance, soil nutrient deficiency, and decreased crop productivity. While the tobacco-rape rotation has demonstrated significant benefits in increasing tobacco yield. Microorganisms play a crucial role in soil nutrient cycling and crop productivity. However, the internal mechanism of tobacco-rape rotation affecting tobacco yield through microbe-soil interaction is still unclear. In this study, two treatments, tobacco continuous cropping (TC) and tobacco-rape rotation (TR) were used to investigate how planting systems affect soil microbial diversity and community structure, and whether these changes subsequently affect crop yields. The results showed that compared with TC, TR significantly increased the Shannon index, Chao1 index, ACE index of bacteria and fungi, indicating increased microbial α-diversity. On the one hand, TR may directly affect the bacterial and fungal community structure due to the specificity of root morphology and root exudates in rape. Compared with TC, TR significantly increased the proportion of beneficial bacterial and fungal taxa while significantly reduced soil-borne pathogens. Additionally, TR enhanced the scale and complexity of microbial co-occurrence networks, promoting potential synergies between bacterial OTUs. On the other hand, TR indirectly changed microbial community composition by improving soil chemical properties and changing microbial life history strategies. Compared with TC, TR significantly increased the relative abundance of copiotrophs while reduced oligotrophs. Notably, TR significantly increased tobacco yield by 39.6% compared with TC. The relationships among yield, microbial community and soil chemical properties indicated that planting systems had the greatest total effect on tobacco yield, and the microbial community, particularly bacteria, had the greatest direct effect on tobacco yield. Our findings highlighted the potential of tobacco-rape rotation to increase yield by both directly and indirectly optimizing microbial community structure.

Objective This study aimed to assessing usability of intelligent guidance chatbots (IGCs) in Chinese hospitals. Methods A cross-sectional study based on expert survey was conducted between August to December 2023. The survey assessed the usability of chatbots in 590 Chinese hospitals. One-way ANOVA was used to analyze the impact of the number of functions, human-like characteristics, number of outpatients, and staff size on the usability of the IGCs. Results The results indicate that there are 273 (46.27%) hospitals scoring above 45 points. In terms of function development, 581(98.47%) hospitals have set the number of functions between 1 and 5. Besides, 350 hospitals have excellent function implementation, accounting for 59.32%. In terms of the IGC's human-like characteristic, 220 hospitals have both an avatar and a nickname. BackgroundWe aimed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of a SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine (Omicron BA.5) LVRNA012 given as the booster in immunized but SARS-CoV-2 infection-free adults in China.MethodsThis is a single-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 clinical trial enrolling healthy adult participants (≥18 years) who had completed two or three doses of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines at least 6 months before, in Bengbu, Anhui province, China. Eligible participants were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive a booster intramuscular vaccination with an LVRNA012 vaccine (100ug) or placebo. The primary endpoint was the protective efficacy of a booster dose of the LVRNA012 vaccine or placebo against symptomatic COVID-19 of any severity 14 days after vaccination. Laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infections were identified from 14 days to 180 days after intervention, with active surveillance for symptomatic illness 8 times per month between 7 to 90 days and at least once per month between 90 to 180 days after intervention.Results2615 participants were recruited and randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to either the vaccine group (1308) or the placebo group (1307). A total of 141 individuals (46 in the LVRNA012 group and 95 in the placebo group) developed symptomatic COVID-19 infection 14 days after the booster immunization, showing a vaccine efficacy of 51.9% (95% CI, 31.3% to 66.4%). Most infections were detected 90 days after intervention during a period when XBB was prevalent in the community. Adverse reactions were reported by 64% of participants after the LVRNA012 vaccination, but most of them were mild or moderate. The booster vaccination with the LVRNA012 mRNA vaccine could significantly enhance neutralizing antibody titers against the Omicron variant XBB.1.5 (GMT 132.3 [99.8, 175.4]) than did those in the placebo group (GMT 12.5 [8.4, 18.7]) at day 14 for the previously immunized individuals.ConclusionThe LVRNA012 mRNA vaccine is immunogenic, and shows robust efficacy in preventing COVID-19 during the omicron-predominate period.Clinical trial registrationClinicalTrials.gov, identifier NCT05745545.

161. Study on influence of mining ground fissures on soil anti-erodibility in northern Shaanxi coal mining area

As the most prominent and typical mining damage problem in the coal mining area of northern Shaanxi in the middle reaches of the Yellow River Basin, the soil erosion effect caused by mining ground fissures can not be ignored. In order to study the influence of the development of mining ground fissures on the anti-erodibility of the surrounding soil, the mining ground fissures with widths of 0−10, 10−20 and 20−30 cm in the northern Shaanxi coal mining area were taken as the research object. The soil with a horizontal distance of less than 80 cm and a vertical depth of 40 cm was collected. Fourteen indicators widely concerned by domestic and foreign scholars for quantitatively characterizing soil erosion resistance, including soil-water stable aggregates, micro-aggregates, inorganic clays, organic clays, and physical properties, were measured. The important quantitative indexes of soil anti-erodibility in the developed area of ground fissures in northern Shaanxi were selected by the methods of analytic hierarchy process, sensitivity analysis and factor analysis, and the comprehensive index model of soil anti-erodibility in the developed area of ground fissures in northern Shaanxi was constructed. The results show that:①Comprehensive analytic hierarchy process, sensitivity analysis and factor analysis, the five indexes of >0.25 mm water-stable aggregate content, mean weight diameter, 0.25 mm water-stable aggregates changes most obviously.③According to the important indexes of soil anti-erodibility, based on the principle of factor analysis, a comprehensive index model of soil anti-erodibility in the developed area of mining ground fissures in northern Shaanxi was established.④The mining ground fissures will reduce the comprehensive anti-erosion ability of the surrounding soil, and this effect increases with the increase of the crack width and the decrease of the horizontal distance. When the horizontal distance from the mining ground fissures exceeds 170 cm, the negative effect of the mining ground fissures on the comprehensive anti-erosion ability of the surrounding soil basically disappears, which can be used as a key area for soil erosion prevention and control in the mining-induced ground fissure development area in northern Shaanxi. The research results can provide scientific basis for accurate prevention and control of soil erosion in northern Shaanxi mining area in the middle reaches of the Yellow River.

Abstract Background Recent studies highlighted that stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) is a potential predictor for future risk in heart failure (HF) patients. However, its implications specifically in HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) are not yet fully elucidated. We aimed to investigate the association between SHR and long-term clinical outcomes in HFpEF patients. Methods HFpEF patients enrolled between 2015 and 2023, were followed (mean 41 months) for a composite outcome of all-cause, cardiovascular mortality, and HF rehospitalization. SHR was established as the ratio of acute-chronic glycemia from admission blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin. The optimal cut-off for SHR to predict outcomes based on event prediction was determined through ROC analysis, and the cutoff was identified at 0.99. The effect of SHR on adverse risk was examined through the Cox hazards and Kaplan-Meier survival methods. A Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to assess the relationship between SHR and the severity of HF, as indicated by N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels. Furthermore, the incremental prognostic value of SHR was further assessed by the integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) and the net reclassification improvement (NRI). Results Among the 400 enrolled patients, 190 individuals (47.5%) encountered composite events over the 41-month follow-up period. Abstract Background Studies have confirmed that Infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus (IBRV) infection induces mitochondrial damage. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of noncoding RNA molecules, which are involved in various biological processes and pathological changes associated with mitochondrial damage. It is currently unclear whether miRNAs participate in IBRV-induced mitochondrial damage in Madin-Darby bovine kidney (MDBK) cells. Results In the present study, we used high-throughput sequencing technology, Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis to screen for mitochondria-related miRNAs and messenger RNAs (mRNAs). In total, 279 differentially expressed miRNAs and 832 differentially expressed mRNAs were identified in 6 hours (IBRV1) versus 24 hours (IBRV2) after IBRV infection in MDBK cells. GO and KEGG enrichment analysis revealed that 42 differentially expressed mRNAs and 348 target genes of differentially expressed miRNAs were correlated with mitochondrial damage, and the miRNA-mitochondria-related target genes regulatory network was constructed to elucidate their potential regulatory relationships. Among the 10 differentially expressed miRNAs, 8 showed expression patterns consistent with the high-throughput sequencing results. Functional validation results showed that overexpression of miR-10a and miR-182 aggravated mitochondrial damage, while inhibition of miR-10a and miR-182 alleviated mitochondrial damage. Conclusions This study not only revealed the expression changes of miRNAs and mRNAs in IBRV-infected MDBK cells, but also revealed possible biological regulatory relationship between them. MiR-10a and miR-182 may have the potential to be developed as biomarkers for the diagnosis and treatment of IBRV. Abstract Background Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is closely associatedwith chronic liver diseases, particularly liver cirrhosis, which has an altered extracellular matrix (ECM) composition. The influence and its mechanism of the cirrhotic-ECM on the response of HCC to immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) remains less clarified. Methods In silico, proteomic and pathological assessment of alteration of cirrhotic-ECM were applied in clinical cohort. Multiple pre-clinical models with ECM manipulation were used to evaluate cirrhotic-ECM’s effect on ICI treatment. In silico, flow cytometry and IHC were applied to explore how cirrhotic-ECM affect HCC microenvironment. In vitro and in vivo experiments were carried out to identify the mechanism of how cirrhotic-ECM undermined ICI treatment. Results We defined “a pro-tumor cirrhotic-ECM” which was featured as the up-regulation of collagen type 1 (Col1). Cirrhotic-ECM/Col1 was closely related to impaired T cell function and limited anti PD-1 (aPD-1) response of HCC patients from the TCGA pan cancer cohort and the authors’ institution, as well as in multiple pre-clinical models. Mechanically, cirrhotic-ECM/Col1 orchestrated an immunosuppressive microenvironment (TME) by triggering Col1-DDR1-NFκB-CXCL8 axis, which initiated neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation to shield HCC cells from attacking T cells and impede approaching T cells. Nilotinib, an inhibitor of DDR1, reversed the neutrophils/NETs dominant TME and efficiently enhanced the response of HCC to aPD-1. Conclusions Cirrhotic-ECM modulated a NETs enriched TME in HCC, produced an immune suppressive TME and weakened ICI efficiency. Col1 receptor DDR1 could be a potential target synergically used with ICI to overcome ECM mediated ICI resistance. These provide a mechanical insight and novel strategy to overcome the ICI resistance of HCC.

Abstract The formation of blood vessel system under a relatively higher Cu2+ ion level is an indispensable precondition for tumor proliferation and migration, which was assisted in forming the tumor immune microenvironment. Herein, a copper ions nano-reaper (LMDFP) is rationally designed not only for chelating copper ions in tumors, but also for combination with photothermal therapy (PTT) to improve antitumor efficiency. Under 808 nm laser irradiation, the fabricated nano-reaper converts light energy into thermal energy to kill tumor cells and promotes the release of D-penicillamine (DPA) in LMDFP. Photothermal properties of LMDFP can cause tumor ablation in situ, which further induces immunogenic cell death (ICD) to promote systematic antitumor immunity. The released DPA exerts an anti-angiogenesis effect on the tumor through chelating copper ions, and inhibits the expression of programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1), which synergizes with PTT to enhance antitumor immunity and inhibit tumor metastasis. Meanwhile, the nanoplatform can emit near-infrared-IIb (NIR-IIb) fluorescence under 980 nm excitation, which can be used to track the nano-reaper and determine the optimal time point for PTT. Thus, the fabricated nano-reaper shows powerful potential in inhibiting tumor growth and metastasis, and holds great promise for the application of copper nanochelator in precise tumor treatment.

Abstract Virtual and augmented reality digital twins are becoming increasingly prevalent in a number of industries, though the production of digital-twin systems applications is still prohibitively expensive for many smaller organisations. A key step towards reducing the cost of digital twins lies in automating the production of 3D assets, however efforts are complicated by the lack of suitable automated methods for determining the visual quality of these assets. While visual quality assessment has been an active area of research for a number of years, few publications consider this process in the context of asset creation in digital twins. In this work, we introduce an automated decimation procedure using machine learning to assess the visual impact of decimation, a process commonly used in the production of 3D assets which has thus far been underrepresented in the visual assessment literature. Our model combines 108 geometric and perceptual metrics to determine if a 3D object has been unacceptably distorted during decimation. Our model is trained on almost 4, 000 distorted meshes, giving a significantly wider range of applicability than many models in the literature. Our results show a precision of over 97% against a set of test models, and performance tests show our model is capable of performing assessments within 2 minutes on models of up to 25, 000 polygons. Based on these results we believe our model presents both a significant advance in the field of visual quality assessment and an important step towards reducing the cost of virtual and augmented reality-based digital-twins.

Abstract Background Asymptomatic COVID-19 carriers with normal chest computed tomography (CT) scans have perpetuated the ongoing pandemic of this disease. This retrospective study aimed to use automated machine learning (AutoML) to develop a prediction model based on CT characteristics for the identification of asymptomatic carriers. Methods Asymptomatic carriers were from Yangzhou Third People’s Hospital from August 1st, 2020, to March 31st, 2021, and the control group included a healthy population from a nonepizootic area with two negative RT‒PCR results within 48 h. All CT images were preprocessed using MATLAB. Model development and validation were conducted in R with the H2O package. The models were built based on six algorithms, e.g., random forest and deep neural network (DNN), and a training set (n = 691). The models were improved by automatically adjusting hyperparameters for an internal validation set (n = 306). The performance of the obtained models was evaluated based on a dataset from Suzhou (n = 178) using the area under the curve (AUC), accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV) and F1 score. Results A total of 1,175 images were preprocessed with high stability. Six models were developed, and the performance of the DNN model ranked first, with an AUC value of 0.898 for the test set. The sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, F1 score and accuracy of the DNN model were 0.820, 0.854, 0.849, 0.826, 0.834 and 0.837, respectively. A plot of a local interpretable model-agnostic explanation demonstrated how different variables worked in identifying asymptomatic carriers. Conclusions Our study demonstrates that AutoML models based on CT images can be used to identify asymptomatic carriers. The most promising model for clinical implementation is the DNN-algorithm-based model.

Moreover, information environment generated by various intelligent terminals like smart phones, has even increased the complexity of urban day-to-day travel system, for micro level route choice decision made by each traveler can be affected by macro level road traffic flow information at any time, and micro route choice behavior can generate new macro traffic information. Nowadays, there is a lack of macro-micro integrated models to explain urban day-to-day travel system, especially its development in information environment. In this paper, complex system dynamics has been proposed and used to explain urban day-to-day travel system in a macro-micro integrated way. The main contribution of this paper is twofold: in micro level, each traveler in urban day-to-day travel system in information environment is endowed with unique physical properties, and the time correlation effect of individual travelers is described; in macro level, the traffic flow fluctuations under the influence of individual micro decisions, the stylized facts of urban day-to-day travel has been deduced, and an effective description of urban day-to-day travel phenomena has been formed.

In this paper, we propose a two-stage transmission hardening and planning (TH&P) model that can meet the load growth demand of normal scenarios and the resilience requirements of hurricane-induced damage scenarios. To better measure the resilience requirements, the proposed TH&P model includes two resilience assessment indexes, namely, the load shedding (LS) under the damage scenario and the average connectivity degree (ACD) at different stages. The first-stage model, which aims to meet the load growth demand while minimizing the LS, is formulated as a mixed-integer linear program (MILP) to minimize the total planning and hardening cost of transmission lines, the operating cost of generators, and the penalty cost of wind power and load shedding in both normal and damage scenarios. The second-stage model aims to further improve the ACD when the ACD of the scheme obtained from the first-stage model cannot reach the target. Specifically, the contribution of each transmission line to the ACD is calculated, and the next hardened line is determined to increase the ACD. This process is repeated until the ACD meets the requirements. Case studies of the modified IEEE RTS-24 and two-area IEEE reliability test system-1996 indicate the proposed TH&P model can meet the requirements for both normal and damage scenarios.

Visual navigation is the pivotal technology for enabling autonomous operations of orchard robots. To obtain orchard navigation lines, the robot needs to quickly identify the positions of tree trunks. For this, we proposed a detection model called YOLOv8-Trunk in this study. Based on the detection results of vine tree trunks by YOLOv8-Trunk, the network generates a series of center point coordinates at the bottom of the detection boxes. Subsequently, the least square method is employed to fit reference lines on both sides of the trunk, thereby determining the navigation path for the orchard robot. To enhance the focus on the target, an efficient multi-scale attention (EMA) mechanism is introduced into traditional YOLOv8 network. On the data level, we adopted a novel Mix-Shelter method to augment the datasets for training the detection model, thereby bolstering the robustness. In addition, we also explored the impact of loss functions and optimizers on the performance of the detection model. A comprehensive set of ablation and comparison experiments is conducted in this study. The experimental results affirm that the YOLOv8-Trunk network adeptly detects vine tree trunks, achieving an accuracy rate of 92.7%. The obtained navigation path based on the detect result is reliable. This study provides valuable reference for the realization of intelligent inspection in orchards.

Vehicle path planning is one of the effective ways to relieve the huge traffic flow pressure of modern urban transportation system, and it is also an important way to realize carbon emission reduction and to build green transportation system as well as smart city. At present, the artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms with reinforcement learning (RL) as the mainstream have achieved great success in the field of vehicle path planning. However, RL only conducts policy learning based on the evaluation feedback of the environment, whereas imitation learning (IL) can obtain more direct feedback from expert decision data, and then obtain a decision model close to the expert level by comparing with RL. At present, there are very few vehicle path planning algorithms based on IL, and they are often hindered by the compounding error and sample complexity dilemma, resulting in poor path planning effectiveness. In order to overcome these problems, in this paper, a mixed generative adversarial IL (MixGAIL) algorithm has been proposed, which effectively integrates the transition aware adversarial IL (TAIL) and generative adversarial IL (GAIL) based on minimum-distance functions (MIMIC-MD) methods under the framework of GAIL. In order to overcome the optimization dilemma of non-convex and non-smooth objective function after the integration, the proposed MixGAIL uses mixed policy gradient actor-critic model with random escape term and filter optimization (MPGACEF), and pioneers the noise projected subgradient descent method with momentum (MNPSGD) for global optimization. Experiments have shown that by learning expert decision data, MixGAIL has better vehicle path planning performance and faster iteration speed than classic IL algorithms such as behavioral cloning (BC), dataset aggregation (DAgger), feature expectation matching (FEM), game theoretical appraisal learning (GTAL), TAIL, and MIMIC-MD, and is closer to expert level.

Abstract Background Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) could be fatal to patients without human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Current diagnostic methods are either invasive or inaccurate. We aimed to establish an accurate and non-invasive radiomics-based way to identify the risk of PCP infection in non-HIV patients with computed tomography (CT) manifestation of pneumonia. Methods This is a retrospective study including non-HIV patients hospitalized for suspected PCP from January 2010 to December 2022 in one hospital. The patients were randomized in a 7:3 ratio into training and validation cohorts. Computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics features were extracted automatically and used to construct a radiomics model. A diagnostic model with traditional clinical and CT features was also built. The area under the curve (AUC) were calculated and used to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the models. The combination of the radiomics features and serum β-D-glucan levels was also evaluated for PCP diagnosis. Results A total of 140 patients (PCP: N = 61, non-PCP: N = 79) were randomized into training (N = 97) and validation (N = 43) cohorts. The radiomics model consisting of nine radiomic features performed significantly better (AUC = 0.954; 95% CI: 0.898-1.000) than the traditional model consisting of serum β-D-glucan levels (AUC = 0.752; 95% CI: 0.597–0.908) in identifying PCP (P = 0.002). The combination of radiomics features and serum β-D-glucan levels showed an accuracy of 95.8% for identifying PCP infection (positive predictive value: 95.7%, negative predictive value: 95.8%). Conclusions Radiomics showed good diagnostic performance in differentiating PCP from other types of pneumonia in non-HIV patients. A combined diagnostic method including radiomics and serum β-D-glucan has the potential to provide an accurate and non-invasive way to identify the risk of PCP infection in non-HIV patients with CT manifestation of pneumonia. Abstract The increase in intense tropical cyclone (TC) activity across the western North Pacific (WNP) has often been attributed to a warming ocean. However, it is essential to recognize that the tropical WNP region already boasts high temperatures, and a marginal increase in oceanic warmth due to global warming does not exert a significant impact on the potential for TCs to intensify. Here we report that the weakened vertical wind shear is the primary driver behind the escalating trend in TC intensity within the summer monsoon trough of the tropical WNP, while local ocean surface and subsurface thermodynamic factors play a minor role. Through observational diagnoses and numerical simulations, we establish that this weakening of the vertical wind shear is very likely due to the increase in temperature of the Tibetan Plateau. With further warming of the Tibetan Plateau under the Representative Concentration Pathway 4.5 scenario, the projected TCs will likely become stronger.

Abstract The intestine of Haemonchus contortus is an essential tissue that has been indicated to be a major target for the prevention of haemonchosis caused by this parasitic nematode of small ruminants. Biological peculiarities of the intestine warrant in-depth exploitation, which can be leveraged for future disease control efforts. Here, we determined the intestinal ncRNA (lncRNA, circRNA and miRNA) atlas using whole-transcriptome sequencing and bioinformatics approaches. In total, 4846 novel lncRNA, 982 circRNA, 96 miRNA (65 known and 31 novel) and 8821 mRNA were identified from the H. contortus intestine. The features of lncRNA, circRNA and miRNA were fully characterized. Comparison of miRNA from the intestines and extracellular vesicles supported the speculation that the miRNA from the latter were of intestinal origin in H. contortus. Further function analysis suggests that the cis-lncRNA targeted genes were involved in protein binding, intracellular anatomical structure, organelle and cellular process, whereas the circRNA parental genes were mainly enriched in molecular function categories, such as ribonucleotide binding, nucleotide binding, ATP binding and carbohydrate derivative binding. The miRNA target genes were related to the cellular process, cellular response to stimulus, cellular protein modification process and signal transduction. Moreover, competing endogenous RNA network analysis revealed that the majority of lncRNA, circRNA and mRNA only have one or two binding sites with specific miRNA. Lastly, randomly selected circRNA, lncRNA and miRNA were verified successfully using RT-PCR. Collectively, these data provide the most comprehensive compilation of intestinal transcripts and their functions, and it will be helpful to decipher the biological and molecular complexity of the intestine and lay the foundation for further functional research.

Abstract Background Tussis, which increases the incidence of airway spasm, aspiration, nausea, and vomiting, is a common complication faced during upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy. However, sedatives and analgesics exhibit inhibitory actions against airway reflexes to different degrees. Our assumption is a combination of propofol and small doses of sufentanil, esketamine, or lidocaine, especially the combination of propofol and esketamine, might reduce tussis incidence. Method The study will be performed as a randomised controlled three-blind, two-centre trial. Patients undergoing upper GI endoscopy, ≥ 18 years old, with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification I–III will be randomised to four groups: P group (single administration of propofol), P + S group (administration of propofol and sufentanil in combination), P + K group (administration of propofol and esketamine in combination), and P + L group (administration of propofol and lidocaine in combination) (N = 100 per group). The primary endpoints include the frequency of tussis, nausea and vomiting, and/or body movements observed at the insertion of the endoscope into the pharyngeal cavity or within 5 min of endoscope insertion. Secondary outcomes are recovery assessment, patients’ and endoscopists’ satisfaction with the procedure, MMSE scores, MET scores, sleep condition, and the number of sedation-related events. Data on sedation-related events are collected by recording of vital signs. Satisfaction parameters and mental states are collected by means of questionnaires and evaluation scales before and after the procedure and on different following days. Discussion Esketamine can reduce tussis occurrence with good tolerability and relax the bronchus and also provides high clearance rates and low possibility of adverse reactions. We aim to demonstrate that the combination of esketamine with propofol for sedation in patients subjected to upper GI procedure is nevertheless superior to only administration of propofol or a combination of propofol with other anaesthetics, such as opioids or lidocaine. The process of visual analytics is composed of the visual data exploration tasks supporting analytical reasoning. When performing analytical tasks with the interactive visual interfaces displayed by the large screen, physical discomforts such as gorilla-arm effect can be easily caused. To enrich the input space for analysts, there has been some researches concerning the cross-device analysis combining mobile devices with the large display. Although the effectiveness of expert-level designs has been demonstrated, little is known of the ordinary users’ preferences for using a mobile device to issue commands, especially the small one like smartwatch. We implement a three-stage study to investigate and validate these preferences. A total of 181 distinctive gestural inputs and 52 interface designs for 21 tasks were collected from analysts. Expert designers selected the best practices from these user-defined interactions. A performance test was subsequently developed to assess the selected interactions in terms of quantitative statistics and subjective ratings. Our work provides empirical support and proposes a set of design guidelines for optimizing watch-based interactions aimed at remote control of visual data on the large display. Through this research, we hope to advance the development of smartwatches as visual analytics tools and provide visual analysts with a better usage experience.

Multiprocessor System-on-Chips (MPSoCs) computing architectures are gaining popularity due to their high-performance capabilities and exceptional Quality-of-Service (QoS), making them a particularly well-suited computing platform for computationally intensive workloads and applications. Nonetheless, The scheduling and allocation of a single task set with precedence restrictions on MPSoCs have presented a persistent research challenge in acquiring energy-efficient solutions. The complexity of this scheduling problem escalates when subject to conditional precedence constraints between the tasks, creating what is known as a Conditional Task Graph (CTG). Scheduling sets of Periodic Conditional Task Graphs (PCTGs) on MPSoC platforms poses even more challenges. This paper focuses on tackling the scheduling challenge for a group of PCTGs on MPSoCs equipped with shared memory. The primary goal is to minimize the overall anticipated energy usage, considering two distinct power models: dynamic and static power models. To address this challenge, this paper introduces an innovative scheduling method named Energy Efficient Successor Tree Consistent Earliest Deadline First (EESEDF). The EESEDF approach is primarily designed to maximize the worst-case processor utilization. Once the tasks are assigned to processors, it leverages the earliest successor tree consistent deadline-first strategy to arrange tasks on each processor. To minimize the overall expected energy consumption, EESEDF solves a convex Non-Linear Program (NLP) to determine the optimal speed for each task. Additionally, the paper presents a highly efficient online Dynamic Voltage Scaling (DVS) heuristic, which operates in O(1) time complexity and dynamically adjusts the task speeds in real-time. We achieved the average improvement, maximum improvement, and minimum improvement of EESEDF+Online-DVS 15%, 17%, and 12%, respectively compared to EESEDF alone. Furthermore, in the second set of experiments, we compared EESEDF against state-of-the-art techniques LESA and NCM. The results showed that EESEDF+Online-DVS outperformed these existing approaches, achieving notable energy efficiency improvements of 25% and 20% over LESA and NCM, respectively. Our proposed scheduler, EESEDF+Online-DVS, also achieves significant energy efficiency gains compared to existing methods. It outperforms IOETCS-Heuristic by approximately 13% while surpassing BESS and CAP-Online by impressive margins of 25% and 35%, respectively.

With the increasing complexity of the distribution environment, customers usually propose higher requirements, such as independent loading of local and foreign cold-chain items in the event of an emergency. Moreover, minimum fuel volume plays an important role in the process of transportation with different speeds and different kinds of vehicles. In this paper, we present a new mathematical model to characterize cold-chain vehicle routing optimization with independent loading of local and foreign items and minimum fuel volume. To address the above mathematical model, an extended particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed by combining original PSO with 2-opt optimization to improve diversity and reduce convergence speed. Six sets of experiments are set to verify the practical performance and stability of the extended PSO algorithm based on three standard datasets of C201, R201, and RC201 from Solomon.

Abstract Based on e + e − collision data collected at center-of-mass energies from 2.000 to 3.080 GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, a partial wave analysis is performed for the process e + e − → K S 0 K L 0 $$ {K}_S^0{K}_L^0 $$ π 0. The results allow the Born cross sections of the process e + e − → K S 0 K L 0 $$ {K}_S^0{K}_L^0 $$ π 0, as well as its subprocesses e + e − → K ∗(892)0 K ¯ $$ \overline{K} $$ 0 and K 2 ∗ $$ {K}_2^{\ast } $$ (1430)0 K ¯ $$ \overline{K} $$ 0 to be measured. The Born cross sections for e + e − → K S 0 K L 0 $$ {K}_S^0{K}_L^0 $$ π 0 are consistent with previous measurements by BaBar, but with substantially improved precision. The Born cross section lineshape of the process e + e − K ∗(892)0 K ¯ $$ \overline{K} $$ 0 is consistent with a vector meson state around 2.2 GeV with a significance of 3.2σ. A Breit-Wigner fit determines its mass as M Y = (2164.7 ± 9.1 ± 3.1) MeV/c 2 and its width as Γ Y = (32.4 ± 21.0 ± 1.8) MeV.

Abstract Inflammation in the testes induced by infection and autoimmunity contributes significantly to male infertility, a public health issue. Current therapies using antibiotics and broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory drugs are ineffective against non-bacterial orchitis and induce side effects. This highlights the need to explore the pathogenesis of orchitis and develop alternative therapeutic strategies. In this study, we demonstrated that Gasdermin D (GSDMD) was activated in the testes during uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC)-induced acute orchitis, and that GSDMD in macrophages induced inflammation and affected spermatogenesis during acute and chronic orchitis. In testicular macrophages, GSDMD promoted inflammation and antigen presentation, thereby enhancing the T-cell response after orchitis. Furthermore, the pharmacological inhibition of GSDMD alleviated the symptoms of UPEC-induced acute orchitis. Collectively, these findings provide the first demonstration of GSDMD’s role in driving orchitis and suggest that GSDMD may be a potential therapeutic target for treating orchitis.

Transition metal carbide/nitride cores within MXenes make them considerably useful for ultra-high-temperature reinforcement. However, extensive research on Ti3C2Tx MXene has revealed its tendency to undergo a phase transition to TiCy at temperatures above 800 ℃ due to high activity of a superficial Ti atomic layer. Herein, spark plasma sintering of Ti3C2Tx and TiC is performed to prevent the Ti3C2Tx phase transition at temperatures up to 1900 ℃ through the fabrication of composites at a pressure of 50 MPa. Using a focused ion beam scanning electron microscope to separate layered substances in the composites and examining selected area diffraction spots in a transmission electron microscope enabled identification of non-phase-transitioned MXene. First-principles calculations based on density functional theory indicated the formation of strong chemical bonding interfaces between Ti3C2Tx and TiC, which imposed a stability constraint on the Ti atomic layer at the Ti3C2Tx surface. Mechanical performance tests, such as three-point bending and fracture toughness analysis, demonstrated that the addition of Ti3C2Tx can effectively improve the cross-scale strengthening and toughening of the TiC matrix, providing a new path for designing and developing two-dimensional (2D) carbides cross-scale-enhanced three-dimensional (3D) carbides with the same elements relying on a wide variety of MXenes.

The study of road traffic flow theory utilizes physics and applied mathematics to analyze relevant parameters and their relationships quanlitatively and quantitatively, in order to explore their dynamic changes. The fluid dynamics model used for traffic flow analysis is highly favored by scholars due to its solid mathematical foundation and good simulation results. However, existing models have two main shortcomings: firstly, existing research is mostly limited to non-viscoelastic fluid equation or incompressible non-Newtonian fluid equation, making it difficult to accurately describe the viscosity state and micro cluster properties of the actual traffic flow; secondly, the existing non-Newtonian fluid partial differential equations (PDEs) rely heavily on the finite element method (FEM) for solving, requiring higher computational cost, larger storage space, and more constraint conditions. Thus, in this paper, a traffic flow equation based on compressible non-Newtonian fluid has been constructed, and it has been solved by using physical-informed rational neural network (PIRNN) and noise heavy-ball acceleration gradient descent (NHAGD) to ensure learning and training speed and accuracy. Numerical results indicate that the proposed method can truly reflect the gradual change process in the viscosity of traffic flow, and has better solving performance than traditional FEM and physical-informed neural network (PINN) with activation functions; under the same conditions, the prediction error of the proposed method is also smaller than that of traditional traffic flow models.

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of sequential distalization on increasing gaps in the maxillary anterior teeth, focusing on the control of torque and three-dimensional teeth movement during anterior retraction with clear aligners in extraction cases. Methods We recruited 24 patients who were undergoing extraction bilateral maxillary first premolars with clear aligners. According to a predetermined increment in the spaces between the maxillary anterior teeth, the patients were divided into three groups: those with no gap (9 cases), a 0.5 mm gap (6 cases) and a 1.0 mm gap (9 cases). In each group, a 2.0 mm en-mass retraction was applied on the anterior teeth. Plaster casts of the upper full dentition were obtained both before and after a 2 mm retraction. The palatal folds were used to overlap each pair of models. The three-dimensional movement of the teeth and the change of torque for the anterior teeth were subsequently analyzed using Geomagic Studio 2014 software. Results The change in torque in the groups with added gaps was significantly smaller than that in the group with no gaps (P 0.05). In the labial-lingual and vertical directions, the displacements of the central and lateral incisors were smaller in the groups with additional gaps compared to those in the groups without gaps (P 0.05). Then, a comparison was made between the displacement of the second premolar to the second molar in the mesial-distal direction across all groups. Hybrid improper ferroelectricity has been extensively reported through theoretical prediction and experimental investigation in the oxides with Ruddlesden-Popper (R–P) structures. However, the experimentally reported ferroelectric materials based on triple-layer R–P structures are rare, and the weak ferroelectricity impedes its practical application. In the present work, the single-phase Li2Nd2Ti3O10 ceramics with A-site cation ordered triple-layer R–P structure was obtained by spark plasma sintering technique, and the crystal structure of P21ab symmetry was revealed by neutron powder diffraction and transmission electron microscope analysis. Furthermore, the switchable ferroelectricity in Li2Nd2Ti3O10 ceramics has been observed at room temperature, and the saturated polarization-electric field hysteresis loop was obtained with Pr = 0.4 μC/cm2 under the electric field of 250 kV/cm. The phase transition behavior of Li2Nd2Ti3O10 oxides was revealed by the temperature-dependence Raman and dielectric spectra combined with the piezoelectric property.

Abstract Background Serum tumor markers (STM), extensively used for the diagnosis, monitoring and prognostic assessment of tumors, can be increased in some non-malignant lung diseases. To date, there is a paucity of studies regarding the clinical characteristics of non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis patients with positive STMs. Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and indicators of bronchiectasis with positive STMs. Methods The clinical data of 377 bronchiectasis patients was retrospectively collected from January 2017 to December 2019 from Beijing Chaoyang Hospital. Patients were divided into the STM negative group, the single STM positive group and the ≥2 STMs positive group according to the number of the positive STMs. The clinical characteristics are described and compared separately. Abstract Background The differential diagnosis between tuberculous meningitis (TBM) and viral meningitis (VM) or bacterial meningitis (BM) remains challenging in clinical practice, particularly in resource-limited settings. This study aimed to establish a diagnostic model that can accurately and early distinguish TBM from both VM and BM in adults based on simple clinical and laboratory parameters. Methods Patients diagnosed with TBM or non-TBM (VM or BM) between January 2012 and October 2021 were retrospectively enrolled from the General Hospital (derivation cohort) and Branch Hospital (validation cohort) of Ningxia Medical University. Abstract Background This prospective study aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of pyrotinib (P) combined with 4 cycles of epirubicin and cyclophosphamide followed by 4 cycles of taxane and trastuzumab (P + EC-TH) regimen as neoadjuvant therapy for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) positive breast cancer and to investigate the predictive value of p53, p63, and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) status for neoadjuvant efficacy. Methods A total of 138 HER2-positive breast cancer patients who received neoadjuvant therapy and underwent surgery were included. Case group: 55 patients received P + EC-TH regimen. Control group: 83 patients received EC-TH regimen. The chi-square test, Fisher’s exact test, and logistic regression analysis were applied. The primary endpoint was total pathologic complete response (tpCR), and the secondary endpoints were breast pathologic complete response (bpCR), overall response rate (ORR), and adverse events (AEs). Results In the case group, the tpCR rate was 63.64% (35/55), the bpCR rate was 69.09% (38/55), and the ORR was 100.00% (55/55). In the control group, the tpCR rate was 39.76% (33/83), the bpCR rate was 44.58% (37/83), and the ORR was 95.18% (79/83). The case group had significantly higher tpCR and bpCR rates than those of the control group (P 0.05). The tpCR was associated with the status of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and androgen receptor (AR), and the patients with any negative ER, PR, AR, or combined, were more likely to achieve tpCR than those with positive results (P

191. Optimizing a high‐sensitivity NanoLuc‐based bioluminescence system for in vivo evaluation of antimicrobial treatment

Abstract Focal and systemic infections are serious threats to human health. Preclinical models enable the development of new drugs and therapeutic regimens. In vivo, animal bioluminescence (BL) imaging has been used with bacterial reporter strains to evaluate antimicrobial treatment effects. However, high‐sensitivity bioluminescent systems are required because of the limited tissue penetration and low brightness of the BL signals of existing approaches. Here, we report that NanoLuc (Nluc) showed better performance than LuxCDABE in bacteria. However, the retention rate of plasmid constructs in bacteria was low. To construct stable Staphylococcus aureus reporter strains, a partner protein enolase (Eno) was identified by screening of S. aureus strain USA300 for fusion expression of Nluc‐based luciferases, including Nluc, Teluc, and Antares2. Different substrates, such as hydrofurimazine (HFZ), furimazine (FUR), and diphenylterazine (DTZ), were used to optimize a stable reporter strain/substrate pair for BL imaging. S. aureus USA300/Eno‐Antares2/HFZ produced the highest number of photons of orange‐red light in vitro and enabled sensitive BL tracking of S. aureus in vivo, with sensitivities of approximately 10 CFU from mouse skin and 750 CFU from mouse kidneys. USA300/Eno‐Antares2/HFZ was a powerful combination based on the longitudinal evaluation of the therapeutic efficacy of antibiotics. The optimized S. aureus Eno‐Antares2/HFZ pair provides a technological advancement for the in vivo evaluation of antimicrobial treatment.

Abstract The D s + → K + K − μ + ν μ $$ {D}_s^{+}\to {K}^{+}{K}^{-}{\mu}^{+}{\nu}_{\mu } $$ decay is studied based on 7.33 fb −1 of e + e − collision data collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies in the range from 4.128 to 4.226 GeV. The absolute branching fraction is measured as B D s + → ϕ μ + ν μ = 2.25 ± 0.09 ± 0.07 × 10 − 2 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to \phi {\mu}^{+}{\nu}_{\mu}\right)=\left(2.25\pm 0.09\pm 0.07\right)\times {10}^{-2} $$ , the most precise measurement to date. Combining with the world average of B D s + → ϕ e + ν e $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to \phi {e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right) $$ , the ratio of the branching fractions obtained is B D s + → ϕ μ + ν μ B D s + → ϕ e + ν e = 0.94 ± 0.08 $$ \frac{\mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to \phi {\mu}^{+}{\nu}_{\mu}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to \phi {e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)}=0.94\pm 0.08 $$ , in agreement with lepton universality. By performing a partial wave analysis, the hadronic form factor ratios at q 2 = 0 are extracted, finding r V = V 0 A 1 0 = 1.58 ± 0.17 ± 0.02 $$ {r}_V=\frac{V(0)}{A_1(0)}=1.58\pm 0.17\pm 0.02 $$ and r 2 = A 2 0 A 1 0 = 0.71 ± 0.14 ± 0.02 $$ {r}_2=\frac{A_2(0)}{A_1(0)}=0.71\pm 0.14\pm 0.02 $$ , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. No significant S-wave contribution from f 0(980) → K + K − is found. The upper limit B D s + → f 0 980 μ + ν μ ⋅ B f 0 980 → K + K − < 5.45 × 10 − 4 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to {f}_0(980){\mu}^{+}{\nu}_{\mu}\right)\cdot \mathcal{B}\left({f}_0(980)\to {K}^{+}{K}^{-}\right)

Abstract Using e + e − collision datasets corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 21.7 fb −1 collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.009 GeV to 4.951 GeV, the energy-dependent cross sections of e + e − → p K − Λ ¯ + c . c . $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to p{K}^{-}\overline{\Lambda}+c.c. $$ are measured for the first time. By fitting these energy-dependent cross sections, we search for the excited ψ states ψ(4160) and ψ(4415), and the vector charmonium-like states ψ(4230), ψ(4360), and ψ(4660). No evidence for these is observed and the upper limits on the branching fractions of these states decaying into p K − Λ ¯ + c . c . $$ p{K}^{-}\overline{\Lambda}+c.c. $$ are set at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract The lack of an accurate mathematical model of non‐linear systems, such as bidirectional DC–DC converters, brings certain limits to design a formidable controller for such systems. This article proposes a model‐free adaptive control (MFAC) approach for an ultracapacitor based three‐phase interleaved bidirectional DC–DC converter (BDC) to ameliorate the controller design limitations due to the demand for system model information. This article designs a pseudo gradient (PG) estimation algorithm based on the input and output (I/O) data of a three‐phase interleaved BDC and designs a control input estimation algorithm through the PG estimation value, then, the design of a model‐free adaptive controller is completed. Moreover, the Black‐box technique is applied to the system, which does not require a precise mathematical model resulting in a lower computational burden, faster dynamics, and easier implementation. Furthermore, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed MFAC scheme are experimentally tested and verified on an energy storage system microgrid platform.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is an extremely malignant pulmonary vascular disease of unknown etiology. ADAR1 is an RNA editing enzyme that converts adenosine in RNA to inosine, thereby affecting RNA expression. However, the role of ADAR1 in PH development remains unclear. In the present study, we investigated the biological role and molecular mechanism of ADAR1 in PH pulmonary vascular remodeling. Overexpression of ADAR1 aggravated PH progression and promoted the proliferation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs). Conversely, inhibition of ADAR1 produced opposite effects. High-throughput whole transcriptome sequencing showed that ADAR1 was an important regulator of circRNAs in PH. CircCDK17 level was significantly lowered in the serum of PH patients. The effects of ADAR1 on cell cycle progression and proliferation were mediated by circCDK17. ADAR1 affects the stability of circCDK17 by mediating A-to-I modification at the A5 and A293 sites of circCDK17 to prevent it from m1A modification. We demonstrate for the first time that ADAR1 contributes to the PH development, at least partially, through m1A modification of circCDK17 and the subsequent PASMCs proliferation. Our study provides a novel therapeutic strategy for treatment of PH and the evidence for circCDK17 as a potential novel marker for the diagnosis of this disease.

Pokkah boeng disease (PBD), which is caused by Fusarium verticillioides, is a major sugarcane disease in Southeast Asian countries. Breeding varieties to become resistant to F. verticillioides is the most effective approach for minimizing the damage caused by PBD, and identifying genes mediating resistance to PBD via molecular techniques is essential. The production of reactive oxygen species (ROSs) is one of a cell’s first responses to pathogenic infections. Plant peroxisomes play roles in several metabolic processes involving ROSs. In this study, seedlings of YT94/128 and GT37 inoculated with F. verticillioides were used to identify PBD resistance genes. The cells showed a high degree of morphological variation, and the cell walls became increasingly degraded as the duration of the infection increased. There was significant variation in H2O2 accumulation over time. Catalase, superoxide dismutase, and peroxidase activities increased in both seedlings. Analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) revealed that peroxidase-metabolism-related genes are mainly involved in matrix protein import and receptor recycling, adenine nucleotide transport, peroxisome division, ROS metabolism, and processes related to peroxisomal membrane proteins. The expression levels of SoCATA1 and SoSOD2A2 gradually decreased after sugarcane infection. F. verticillioides inhibited the expressions of C5YVR0 and C5Z4S4. Sugarcane infection by F. verticillioides disrupts the balance of intracellular ROSs and increases the cell membrane’s lipid peroxidation rate. Defense-related enzymes play a key regulatory role in maintaining a low, healthy level of ROSs. The results of this study enhance our understanding of the mechanism through which peroxisomes mediate the resistance of sugarcane to PBD and provide candidate genes that could be used to breed varieties with improved traits via molecular breeding.

Acanthocepola indica, a deep-sea snake fish, is primarily found in the Indo-west Pacific region, including India, Korea, Japan, and the South China Sea. The taxonomic classification of A. indica based on morphological characteristics remains inaccurate and unclear. In this study, we utilized next-generation sequencing to generate comprehensive genomic data for A. indica. The estimated genome size of A. indica was 422.95 Mb, with a heterozygosity ratio of 1.02% and a sequence repeat ratio of 22.43%. Our analysis suggested that A. indica is diploid, and the draft genome assembly consists of 1,059,784 contigs with a contig N50 of 1942 bp. We identified a total of 444,728 simple sequence repeats in the genome of A. indica. Furthermore, we successfully assembled the complete mitochondrial genome (16,439 bp) of A. indica, which included 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes and 2 rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis based on mitochondrial genomes revealed that A. indica is closely related to Acanthocepola krusensternii and Cepola schlegelii, providing evidence that the family Cepolidae belongs to the order Priacanthiformes. Population size dynamics analysis indicated that A. indica experienced a bottleneck effect during the Pleistocene Glacial Epoch, likely due to the changes in glacial cycles and sea level fluctuations since ~800 Kya.

Sugarcane is a globally significant economic crop, and sugar content is a key determinant of its financial and industrial value. This study utilized sugar content information from spring-planted and ratoon sugarcane in six research regions across Guangxi, China from 2008 to 2023 along with concurrent meteorological data. By conducting statistical tests, the critical meteorological factors influencing the sugar content of sugarcane (effective cumulative temperature and rainfall) were identified. These factors were then used as independent variables to construct a vector autoregression (VAR) model, which was employed to analyze the spatiotemporal dynamic relationships between sugar content and meteorological variables across different planting periods. The empirical results demonstrated that the influence of effective cumulative temperature on sugar content across various regions and planting periods shifted from positive to negative in the short-term, eventually reverting to a positive effect after a period of alternating influences. The impact of rainfall mirrored effective cumulative temperature, though it was relatively less pronounced. The sugarcane in Nanning and Baise was less influenced by effective cumulative temperature and rainfall, with the short-term impact changing from positive to negative and diminishing over time. Our findings provide scientific insights for guiding the ecosystem management of sugarcane in China.

Ocean buoys play a critical role in marine hydrological, water quality, and meteorological monitoring, with applications in navigation, environmental observation, and communication. However, accurately modeling and deploying a multi-buoy system in the complex marine environment presents significant challenges. To address these challenges, this study proposes an enhanced deployment strategy using the tuna swarm optimizer enhanced with the fractional-order calculus method for marine observation. The proposed method first introduces a detailed observation model that precisely captures the performance of buoys in terms of coverage and communication efficiency. By integrating the observation coverage ratio and communication energy consumption, we establish an optimal multi-buoy deployment model. The proposed method leverages tent chaotic mapping to improve the diversity of initial solution generation and incorporates fractional-order calculus to strengthen its search capabilities. Simulation experiments and statistical analysis verify the effectiveness of the proposed deployment model, with the proposed method achieving the best performance in deploying the multi-buoy system, reaching a final fitness value of 0.190052 at iteration 449, outperforming TSA, PSO, GWO, and WOA. These results highlight the potential of the proposed method in optimizing multi-buoy system deployment in marine observation.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease in which kidney involvement, so-called lupus nephritis (LN), is common and one of the most severe manifestations. Oxidative stress (OS) may play a role in the pathogenesis of LN through the exacerbation of inflammation and immune cell dysfunction/dysregulation. Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), also known as nuclear factor erythroid-derived 2-like 2, is a transcription factor that in humans is encoded by the NFE2L2 gene and is regarded as a central regulator of the antioxidative response. Nrf2-activating compounds have been shown to alleviate oxidative stress in cells and tissues of lupus-prone mice. Although the precise mechanisms of Nrf2 activation on the immune system in SLE remain to be elucidated, Nrf2-activating compounds are considered novel therapeutical options to suppress OS and thereby might alleviate disease activity in SLE, especially in LN. This review therefore summarizes the role of the Nrf2 signaling pathway in the pathogenesis of SLE with LN and describes compounds modulating this pathway as potential additional clinical interventions.
