Abstract

Pre‐eclampsia (PE) is deemed an ischemia‐induced metabolic disorder of the placenta due to defective invasion of trophoblasts during placentation; thus, the driving role of metabolism in PE pathogenesis is largely ignored. Since trophoblasts undergo substantial glycolysis, this study aimed to investigate its function and regulatory mechanism by AMPK in PE development. Metabolomics analysis of PE placentas was performed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Trophoblast‐specific AMPKα1‐deficient mouse placentas were generated to assess morphology. A mouse PE model was established by Reduced Uterine Perfusion Pressure, and placental AMPK was modulated by nanoparticle‐delivered A769662. Trophoblast glucose uptake was measured by 2‐NBDG and 2‐deoxy‐d‐[3H] glucose uptake assays. Cellular metabolism was investigated by the Seahorse assay and GC–MS.PE complicated trophoblasts are associated with AMPK hyperactivation due not to energy deficiency. Thereafter, AMPK activation during placentation exacerbated PE manifestations but alleviated cell death in the placenta. AMPK activation in trophoblasts contributed to GLUT3 translocation and subsequent glucose metabolism, which were redirected into gluconeogenesis, resulting in deposition of glycogen and accumulation of phosphoenolpyruvate; the latter enhanced viability but compromised trophoblast invasion. However, ablation of AMPK in the mouse placenta resulted in decreased glycogen deposition and structural malformation. These data reveal a novel homeostasis between invasiveness and viability in trophoblasts, which is mechanistically relevant for switching between the 'go' and 'grow' cellular programs. Abstract

New surface coordination photocatalytic systems that are inspired by natural photosynthesis have significant potential to boost fuel denitrification. Despite this, the direct synthesis of efficient surface coordination photocatalysts remains a major challenge. Herein, it is verified that a coordination photocatalyst can be constructed by coupling Pd and CTAB-modified ZnIn2S4 semiconductors. The optimized Pd/ZnIn2S4 showed a superior degradation rate of 81% for fuel denitrification within 240 min, which was 2.25 times higher than that of ZnIn2S4. From the in situ FTIR and XPS spectra of 1% Pd/ZnIn2S4 before and after pyridine adsorption, we find that pyridine can be selectively adsorbed and form Zn⋅⋅⋅C-N or In⋅⋅⋅C-N on the surface of Pd/ZnIn2S4. Meanwhile, the superior electrical conductivity of Pd can be combined with ZnIn2S4 to promote photocatalytic denitrification. This work also explains the surface/interface coordination effect of metal/nanosheets at the molecular level, playing an important role in photocatalytic fuel denitrification. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

179. A Wideband Magnetoelectric Dipole Antenna With Wide Beamwidth for Millimeter-Wave Applications

Abstract

A wideband magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antenna with wide half-power beamwidth (HPBW) in both the E- and H-planes is investigated for millimeter-wave (mm-wave) applications. This antenna mainly consists of a core ME dipole structure at the center and two parasitic Π-shaped patches at the two sides, and it is fed by a Γ-shaped probe. Compared with the traditional ME dipole antenna fed by an L-shaped probe, the proposed ME dipole shows a comparable impedance bandwidth of over 50%, but it exhibits a more simplified configuration and a smaller footprint due to the loading effect of the Γ-shaped feeding probe. Moreover, thanks to the supplementary effect of the end-fire radiation characteristics of the parasitic Π-shaped patches, the proposed antenna features much expanded beamwidths in both the E- and H-planes. The measured results indicate that this antenna with a footprint of 0.442λ0 × 0.268λ0 can obtain a −10 dB impedance bandwidth of 61.7% (21.4–40.5 GHz), a 3 dB gain bandwidth of 47.5% (23.9–38.8 GHz), and a 120°-HPBW pattern bandwidth (within the band, the HPBWs of the E- and H-planes are both over 120°) of 32.3% (26–36 GHz), showing merits of small size, wideband, and widebeam, which are very desirable for the mm-wave wireless communication systems and radar systems.

180. Robust Output-Feedback Predictive Control for Proximity Eddy Current Detumbling With Constraints and Uncertainty

Abstract

Proximity operation can significantly improve the efficiency of eddy current detumbling. However, the tumbling motion and noncooperation of space debris make the chaser execute collision avoidance maneuvers and be influenced by model uncertainty. In this article, an inertial-oriented safety corridor is proposed by taking the debris' angular momentum as the central axis, which can avoid the frequent collision maneuvers of the chaser. Meanwhile, a desired detumbling trajectory under this safety corridor is designed to detumble the angular velocity of space debris. Then, a robust output-feedback controller considering safety corridor and model uncertainty is proposed by combining moving horizon estimation (MHE) and model predictive control (MPC). The MHE is employed to estimate the system state and model uncertainty which is compensated by a feedforward control law. Furthermore, the MPC without terminal ingredients is designed to realize the optimal performance of fuel consumption and the robust tracking stability of the system. Finally, taking the Chinese Sinosat-2 satellite as the simulation case, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified.

Abstract

Photocatalytic H2 generation has long been supposed to be an intriguing approach for obtaining clean energy, but it is challenging to achieve a satisfactory efficiency mainly restricted by the high recombination rate of photoexcited carriers. The designing of a directional channel for the spatial separation of photogenerated electrons and holes to different components may be an ideal solution. To prove this point, a ternary hybrid g-C3N4/ZnIn2S4/NiS, in which NiS is directionally anchored onto ZnIn2S4, is successfully synthesized according to the Fajans rule. Compared with single g-C3N4, ZnIn2S4 and the counterpart in which NiS is randomly deposited onto g-C3N4/ZnIn2S4, the designed g-C3N4/ZnIn2S4/NiS exhibits the highest photocatalytic activity, with an H2 evolution rate of 16310 μmol g−1. The mechanism research showed that the matched band structure and interfacial electric field oriented from ZnIn2S4 to g-C3N4 facilitate the photo-induced electron transfer from g-C3N4 to ZnIn2S4. NiS nanoparticles that attached to ZnIn2S4 can act as electron trappers, thus further promoting the electron-hole separation efficiency.
