Objective: To evaluate the inter-examiner reliability of the Chinese version of the Axis I diagnoses of the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD) and to compare the consistency between clinical diagnoses and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods: Sixty-seven individuals were evaluated by three TMD specialists, and 49 underwent MRI examination. Cohen's Kappa coefficient (κ) was used to evaluate the inter-examiner reliability and the consistency between clinical diagnoses and MRI manifestations. Results: Diagnostic agreement was good to excellent for pain and disc displacement with or without reduction (κ = 0.659–1.000). Agreement between clinical diagnoses and MRI findings was fair to good (κ = 0.400). Conclusion: Inter-examiner diagnostic reliability using the Chinese version of the DC/TMD Axis I instruments was excellent, especially for arthrogenic TMDs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective Previous studies focusing on primary aldosteronism (PA) and thyroid diseases were controversial. Hence, this study aimed to examine associations between thyroid function, thyroid diseases, and PA and its subtypes. Design and Methods This was a cross-sectional study, which enrolled 1023 patients with PA and 6138 patients with essential hypertension (EH) admitted to Hypertension Center of People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from August 2011 to June 2022. All patients with PA were accurately classified into aldosterone-producing adenoma (APA) and idiopathic hyperaldosteronism (IHA) by adrenal vein sampling (AVS). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to assess the relationship of thyroid function, thyroid nodules, and PA and its subtypes. Results A total of 7161 patients (327 APA and 696 IHA, and 6138 EH) were included with a mean age of 48.20 ± 8.83 years. PA patients and PA subtypes showed lower FT4, FT3, TT4, TT3, and prevalence of positive TPOAb, meanwhile higher prevalence of thyroid nodules than EH patients (PA: 56.10%, IHA: 56.90%, APA: 54.80%, and EH: 48.90%, respectively). PA (adjusted OR: 1.290, 95% CI: 1.035-1.607, P =.02) and its subtype (IHA) (adjusted OR: 1.316, 95% CI: 1.005-1.724, P =.04) were significantly associated with thyroid nodules. Compared to patients with lower plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) levels (<12 ng/dL), patients with PAC levels ≥ 12 ng/dL presented a higher prevalence of thyroid nodules. Conclusions PA patients had lower thyroid function and higher prevalence of thyroid nodules compared to EH patients. Ilex rotunda Thunb. stands as a representative tree species in subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests, widely distributed across southeast Asia. This species holds significant value in forestry due to its ecological resilience and adaptability. Although researchers have conducted in-depth research on the plastid genome (plastome) of I. rotunda, the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of this species has remained undocumented. In the present study, we successfully sequenced and assembled the I. rotunda mitogenome. The mitogenome has a circular structure and is 567,552 bp in total length, with a GC content of 45.47%. The composition of the mitogenome encompasses 40 protein-coding genes, along with 3 rRNA genes and 19 tRNA genes. Notably, the mitogenome exhibits a universal distribution of repetitive sequences, but the total length of repeats contributes to a relatively small proportion (4%) of the whole mitogenome, suggesting that repeats do not serve as the primary cause of the amplification of the Ilex mitogenomes. Collinear analysis indicates that the I. rotunda mitogenome is very conservative within Aquifoliales species. Additionally, our research identified 51 fragments of plastid genomic DNA, which have migrated from the plastome into the mitogenome, with five genes from the plastome remaining intact. Eventually, the phylogenetic analyses based on the plastomes and mitogenomes of 36 angiosperms determine the Aquifoliales to be the basal group in the campanulids. Background: According to the studies, more than 80% of pediatric patients with cancer can achieve a survival rate greater than 5 years; however, long‐term chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy may seriously affect their reproductive ability. Fertility preservation in adolescents with cancer in China was initiated late, and related research is lacking. Analyze data to understand the current situation and implement measures to improve current practices. Methods: From 2011 to 2020, data on 275 male adolescents with cancer whose age ranged from 0 to 19 years old were collected from 16 human sperm banks for this retrospective study. Methods include comparing the basic situation of male adolescents with cancer, the distribution of cancer types, and semen quality to analyze the status of fertility preservation. Results: The mean age was 17.39 ± 1.46 years, with 13 cases (4.7%) aged 13–14 years and 262 cases (95.3%) aged 15–19 years. Basic diagnoses included leukemia (55 patients), lymphomas (76), germ cell and gonadal tumors (65), epithelial tumors (37), soft tissue sarcomas (14), osteosarcoma (7), brain tumors (5), and other cancers (16). There are differences in tumor types in different age stages and regions. The tumor type often affects semen quality, while age affects semen volume. Significant differences were found in sperm concentration and progressive motility before and after treatment (p < 0.001). Moreover, 90.5% of patients had sperm in their semen and sperm were frozen successfully in 244 patients (88.7%). Conclusions: The aim of this study is to raise awareness of fertility preservation in male adolescents with cancer, to advocate for fertility preservation prior to gonadotoxic therapy or other procedures that may impair future fertility, and to improve the fertility status of future patients.
