PurposeThis study investigated gender differences in behavioral inhibitory control among college students under acute stress state by using event-related potential technique.MethodsAcute stress was evoked in 41 college students (22 males and 19 females) using the Trier Social Stress paradigm, and the neutral state was matched using out-of-speech reading, with subjects completing a two-choice Oddball task in each of the two states. In combination with the ERP technique, the area under the stress curve, reaction time, number of errors, and the difference waves between the two stimulus conditions in the frontal-central region N2 wave amplitude and the parietal-central region P3 wave amplitude were compared between the two groups of subjects in the stressful and neutral state.ResultsThe results revealed that the area under the stress curve was larger under the stress condition compared to the neutral condition, and the area under the stress curve was larger in females than in males. Behavioral results showed no statistically significant differences in reaction time and number of errors between the two genders in the acute stress condition. The ERP results showed that the wave amplitudes of N2 and P3 decreased significantly in both genders in the acute stress state. The decrease in N2 amplitude was greater in females during the transition from neutral to stressful condition, while the difference in P3 amplitude was not statistically significant in both genders.ConclusionThe findings suggest that evoked acute stress can promote behavioral inhibitory control in both genders and that females are more sensitive to acute stress state.

Blue light with a wavelength of 400–470 nm is the composition of the visible light. However, in recent years, blue light contributed the most significance to light pollution due to the artificial light at night. Previously, we have demonstrated that the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP), Diaphorina citri, an important pest in citrus production, has significant positive phototaxis with a light-emitting diode light of 400 nm. In this study, ACP with positive phototactic behavior to 400 nm light (PH) and non-phototactic behavior to 400 nm light (NP) were collected, individually. Transcriptome dynamics of head tissues of PH and NP groups were captured by using RNA-sequencing technology, respectively. Forty-three to 46 million clean reads with high-quality values were obtained, and 1773 differential expressed genes (DEGs) were detected. Compared with the NP group, there were 841 up-regulated DEGs and 932 down-regulated DEGs in the PH group. Eight pathways were significantly enriched in the PH group in the KEGG database, while 43 up-regulated pathways and 25 down-regulated pathways were significantly enriched in the PH group in the GO database. The DGE approach was reliable validated by real time quantitative PCR. Results indicated that the blue light acted as an abiotic stress causing physiological and biochemical responses such as oxidative stress, protein denaturation, inflammation and tumor development in ACPs. Additionally, the light was absorbed by photoreceptors of ACPs, and converted into electrical signal to regulate neuromodulation. This study provides basic information for understanding the molecular mechanisms of ACP in response to blue light and provides a reference for further studies to elucidate phototactic behavior.

Abstract Both intra-pore hydrate morphology and inter-pore hydrate distribution influence the physical properties of hydrate-bearing sediments, yet there has been no pore-scale observations of hydrate habit under pressure in preserved pressure core samples so far. We present for the first time a pore-scale micro-CT study of natural hydrate-bearing cores that were acquired from Green Canyon Block 955 in UT-GOM2-1 Expedition and preserved within hydrate pressure–temperature stability conditions throughout sub-sampling and imaging processes. Measured hydrate saturation in the sub-samples, taken from units expected to have in-situ saturation of 80% or more, ranges from 3 ± 1% to 56 ± 11% as interpreted from micro-CT images. Pore-scale observations of gas hydrate in the sub-samples suggest that hydrate in silty sediments at the Gulf of Mexico is pore-invasive rather than particle displacive, and hydrate particles in these natural water-saturated samples are pore-filling with no evidence of grain-coating. Hydrate can form a connected 3D network and provide mechanical support for the sediments even without cementation. The technical breakthrough to directly visualize particle-level hydrate pore habits in natural sediments reported here sheds light on future investigations of pressure- and temperature-sensitive processes including hydrate-bearing sediments, dissolved gases, and other biochemical processes in the deep-sea environment.

This paper introduces a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with high power and narrow linewidth broadening achieved through active region mode control. By integrating mode control with broad-spectrum epitaxial material design, the device achieves high gain, high power, and wide band output. At a wavelength of 1550 nm and an ambient temperature of 20 °C, the output power reaches 757 mW when the input power is 25 mW, and the gain is 21.92 dB when the input power is 4 mW. The 3 dB gain bandwidth is 88 nm, and the linewidth expansion of the input laser after amplification through the SOA is only 1.031 times. A Schottky barrier tunneling field-effect transistor (SBT FET) built upon catalytically grown ultrathin silicon nanowires (SiNWs) offers a preferable low-temperature routine to construct top device layers for monolithic three-dimensional (3D) integration technology, but there still remain several peculiar electronic transport behaviors that need to be better understood. In this work, a high-performance SBT FET was fabricated based on orderly SiNWs grown via the in-plane solid–liquid–solid (IPSLSL) mechanism, achieving an Ion/Ioff ratio of 106 and a SS of 150 mV/dec. The as-fabricated device, with SBT contacts between SiNWs and Pt/Au source-drain electrodes, was analyzed and compared to a three-dimensional numerical model built via the TCAD simulator to extract the actual energy band profile and the bias distribution in the SBT FET, as well as the hole carrier mobility in the catalytic SiNW channels. This comparative investigation also reveals the limiting factors for the SBT transport and explains well the observed peculiar channel-bias-dependent drain-induced barrier-lowering (DIBL) behavior. These results provide an in-depth understanding of SBT FET and lay a solid basis for its future applications in high-performance logic and in-memory computing in advanced 3D architecture. As LiDAR technology progressively advances, the capability of radar in detecting targets has become increasingly vital across diverse domains, including industrial, military, and automotive sectors. Frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) LiDAR in particular has garnered substantial interest due to its efficient direct velocity measurement and excellent anti-interference characteristics. It is widely recognized for its significant potential within radar technology. This study begins by elucidating the operational mechanism of FMCW LiDAR and delves into its basic principles. It discuss, in depth, the influence of various parameters on FMCW LiDAR's performance and reviews the latest progress in the field. This paper proposes that future studies should focus on the synergistic optimization of key parameters to promote the miniaturization, weight reduction, cost-effectiveness, and longevity of FMCW LiDAR systems. This approach aims at the comprehensive development of FMCW LiDAR, striving for significant improvements in system performance. By optimizing these key parameters, the goal is to promote FMCW LiDAR technology, ensuring more reliable and accurate applications in automated driving and environmental sensing. In view of the lack of soil bins for studying the surface interaction between aircraft wheels and soil, this study designed an indoor test bench for aircraft wheels and soil, including a soil container, loading vehicle, and intelligent measurement and control system, to test key parameters such as tire speed and wheel frictional resistance. The test system is capable of achieving speed regulation ranging from 0 to 30 km/h. The vertical load adjustment range with an adjustment interval of 10 kg spans from 90 to 140 kg. The soil type, compaction degree, and other conditions can be modified as per requirements to vary multiple test conditions, thereby enabling us to explore their influence on the driving resistance of the wheels. Moreover, the test data can be collected and processed in real time. A performance test of a wheel–soil table was carried out. The results show that the wheel–soil table test system is stable and reliable and can determine the relationship between the tire and soil, and the structural design of the test system meets the use requirements. In addition, it achieves the target test speed, data acquisition frequency, and stability. In terms of functionality and operational difficulty, the data acquisition of the entire test process is automated, and the test system achieves better informationization than previous methods. To optimize the processing technology of Gastrodia elata by water in which millet had been cooked and investigate the effects of LPS-induced microglia (BV2) inflammatory responses. Determination of gastrodin, p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol, parishin A, parishin B, parishin C, parishin E in the extract of Gastrodia elata by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and the content of six components were used as evaluation index, the volume ratio of water in which millet had been cooked to water, cooking time and drying temperature were selected as single factor variables. The designation of orthogonal test was based on single factor on three indicators, then optimization of the preparation technology. Comparison of the content of six components in different processed product. The neuroinflammatory cell model was induced by LPS and the cell viability was evaluated after treatment with the extract of processed products by a Cell Counting kit 8 (CCK-8) assay. The levels of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β in the cell culture medium were measured with ELISA kits. The protein expressions of TLR4, MYD88, P65, INOS, COX-2, IL-1β in LPS-induced BV2 cells were detected by Western blot. The results showed that the cooking time and the volume ratio of water in which millet had been cooked to water had a significant effect on the test results. The water in which millet had been cooked of Gastrodia elata processing technology: The ratio of the volume water in which millet had been cooked to water was 1:3, the boiling time was 25 min and the temperature of drying was 75 °C. The comprehensive score of the six components in processing with water in which millet had been cooked products was higher than that of steamed products. The extract of Gastrodia elata had exhibited varying degrees of protective activity on LPS-induced BV2 cells. The results showed that the secretion of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β was significantly increased in BV2 microglial cells induced by LPS compared with the normal control group (P<0.001). Compared with the LPS group, the two extract of Gastrodia elata significantly decreased the expression level of TNF-α (P<0.05), IL-6 (P<0.05, P<0.001), IL-1β (P<0.05, P<0.001) in LPS-induced BV2 microglial cells. The result of Western blot showed that PZH significantly inhibited the LPS-induced TLR4/MYD88/NF-κ B signaling pathway activation, and decreased the protein expressions of TLR4 (P<0.01), MYD88 (P<0.01, P<0.05), P65 (P<0.01), INOS (P<0.05), COX-2 (P<0.05, P<0.001), IL-1β (P<0.001). The optimized processing technique is simple, stable and feasible. The mechanism of processed drugs of Gastrodia elata may reduce inflammatory factor expression by inhibiting the TLR4/MYD88/NF-κ signaling pathway. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The online detection of liquid flow rate in gas-liquid two-phase flow has become an important factor in ensuring the safe operation of gas wells. In this paper, the real-time measurement of liquid holdup in gas-liquid two-phase flow is carried out by analyzing the characteristics of vibration signals excited by gas-liquid two-phase flow impacting on the pipe wall. Firstly, an acceleration sensing detection and processing system is constructed to obtain the vibration signals excited by gas-liquid two-phase flow impacting on the pipe wall. Then, the pure airflow vibration signals at different flow velocities and the gas-liquid two-phase flow excitation vibration signals at different liquid flow rates are tested, respectively, and the time-frequency characteristics analysis based on STFT is implemented. The practice shows the following: firstly, the frequency band of 6.5−15 Hz is identified as the characteristic frequency band of liquid flow rate in gas-liquid two-phase flow. Secondly, the liquid holdup is positively correlated with the vibration energy in its characteristic frequency band. Thirdly, a mathematical model of the relationship between liquid flow rate and vibration energy is constructed. Finally, the measurement error of liquid holdup is within 10%. This research method has laid a good foundation for the subsequent detection of characteristic parameters of each phase in gas-solid-liquid complex multiphase flow fluids, and it has certain application and promotion value.

Plant diseases threaten global food security by reducing crop yield; thus, diagnosing plant diseases is critical to agricultural production. Artificial intelligence technologies gradually replace traditional plant disease diagnosis methods due to their time-consuming, costly, inefficient, and subjective disadvantages. As a mainstream AI method, deep learning has substantially improved plant disease detection and diagnosis for precision agriculture. In the meantime, most of the existing plant disease diagnosis methods usually adopt a pre-trained deep learning model to support diagnosing diseased leaves. However, the commonly used pre-trained models are from the computer vision dataset, not the botany dataset, which barely provides the pre-trained models sufficient domain knowledge about plant disease. Furthermore, this pre-trained way makes the final diagnosis model more difficult to distinguish between different plant diseases and lowers the diagnostic precision. To address this issue, we propose a series of commonly used pre-trained models based on plant disease images to promote the performance of disease diagnosis. In addition, we have experimented with the plant disease pre-trained model on plant disease diagnosis tasks such as plant disease identification, plant disease detection, plant disease segmentation, and other subtasks. The extended experiments prove that the plant disease pre-trained model can achieve higher accuracy than the existing pre-trained model with less training time, thereby supporting the better diagnosis of plant diseases.
