Producing biodiesel from microalgae grown in wastewater is environment-friendly and cost-effective. The present study investigated the algae found in wastewater of a local dairy farm for their potential as biodiesel feedstocks. Thirteen native algal strains were isolated. On the basis of morphology and 16S/18S rRNA gene sequences, one strain was identified to be a member of cyanobacteria, while other 12 strains belong to green algae. After screening, two Scenedesmus strains out of the 13 microalgae isolates demonstrated superiority in growth rate, lipid productivity, and sedimentation properties, and therefore were selected for further scale-up outdoor cultivation. Both Scenedesmus strains quickly adapted to the outdoor conditions, exhibiting reasonably good growth and strong anti-contamination capabilities. In flat-plate photobioreactors (PBRs), algal cells accumulated predominantly neutral lipids that accounted for over 60% of total lipids with almost 70% being triacylglycerol. In addition, Scenedesmus obliquus had a high content of monounsaturated fatty acids, of which the amount of oleic acid ( C18:1) was up to 27.11%. The major components, 1-hydroxy-2,3,5-trimethoxy-xanthone (HM-1) and 1,5-dihydroxy-2,3-dimethoxy-xanthone (HM-5) isolated from Halenia elliptica D. Don (Gentianaceae), could cause vasodilatation in rat coronary artery with different mechanisms. In this work, high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to ion trap time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LCMS-IT-TOF) was used to clarify the metabolic pathways, and CYP450 isoform involvement of HM-1 and HM-5 were also studied in rat. At the same time, in vivo inhibition effects of HM-1 and ethyl acetate extracts from origin herb were studied. Three metabolites of HM-5 were found in rat liver microsomes (RLMs); demethylation and hydroxylation were the major phase I metabolic reactions for HM-5. Multiple CYP450s were involved in metabolism of HM-1 and HM-5. The inhibition study showed that HM-5 inhibited Cyp1a2, 2c6 and 2d2 in RLMs. HM-1 inhibited activities of Cyp1a2, Cyp2c6 and Cyp3a2. In vivo experiment demonstrated that both HM-1 and ethyl acetate extracts could inhibit Cyp3a2 in rats. In conclusion, the metabolism of xanthones from the origin herb involved multiple CYP450 isoforms; in vitro, metabolism of HM-5 was similar to that of its parent drug HM-1, but their inhibition effects upon CYP450s were different; in vivo, Cyp3a2 could be inhibited by HM-1 and ethyl acetate extracts. For newly developed, highly reliable, and long-lifespan products, it is quite difficult to implement effective remaining useful life (RUL) prediction in the early usage under limited time cost. However, accelerated degradation testing (ADT) is generally used for lifetime evaluation for such products with harsher test conditions and shorter test time in the late research and development phase. Thus, in this paper, we propose a life prediction framework to integrate the information from ADT to conduct field RUL prediction for highly reliable products. Because ADT belongs to reliability testing used for inferring the population information from the selected test samples, we at first present the modified Wiener process (MWP) model. Different from traditional methods that embody both the random variability and unit-to-unit variability into the diffusion coefficient, the proposed method describes them separately in ADT analysis. Then, the MWP model from ADT is used as a prior for field RUL prediction of the target product during which the strong tracking filtering algorithm is introduced for updating the hidden state and computing the RUL prediction results when the new monitoring data are available. Because of the complexity of the MWP model, the Markov chain Monte Carlo method is provided to estimate the unknown parameters. Finally, the simulation study and the light-emitting diode application verify the effectiveness of the proposed framework that can achieve reasonable life prediction results for highly reliable products for both linear and nonlinear scenarios. ABSTRACT Poly( p-dioxanone) (PPDO), a typical aliphatic poly(ether-ester), is generally synthesized via ring-opening polymerization of 1,4-dioxan-2-one ( p-dioxanone, PDO) monomer. However, a quite amount of PDO monomer should coexist with PPDO product due to the characteristics of the equilibrium polymerization. To clarify the effects of PDO on the properties of PPDO, a series of PPDO/PDO mixtures with different PDO content were prepared by adding PDO to pure PPDO. The thermal, mechanical, and hydrolytic properties of PPDO and PPDO/PDO mixtures were investigated systematically. It reveals that the existence of PDO in the polymer can act as plasticizer to facilitate the crystallization of PPDO, but the increasing of PDO content deteriorates the mechanical properties of the polymers, especially when the PDO loading is more than 3 php. The PDO does not distinctly affect PPDO thermal decomposition, but obviously accelerates the PPDO hydrolytic degradation.
