Following the lifespan of optical excitations from their creation to decay into photons is crucial in understanding materials optical properties. Macroscopically, techniques such as the photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy provide unique information on the photophysics of materials with applications as diverse as quantum optics or photovoltaics. Materials excitation and emission pathways are affected by nanometer scale variations directly impacting devices performances. However, they cannot be directly accessed, despite techniques, such as optical spectroscopies with free electrons, having the relevant spatial, spectral or time resolution. Here, we explore optical excitation creation and decay in two representative optical devices: plasmonic nanoparticles and luminescent 2D layers. The analysis of the energy lost by an exciting electron that is coincident in time with a visible-UV photon unveils the decay pathways from excitation towards light emission. This is demonstrated for phase-locked interactions, such as in localized surface plasmons, and non-phase-locked ones, such as the light emission by individual point defects. This newly developed cathodoluminescence excitation spectroscopy images energy transfer pathways at the nanometer scale. It widens the toolset available to explore nanoscale materials.

Background and purpose: Colorectal cancer has become the third most common cancer worldwide, accounting for approximately 10% of cancer patients. Early detection of the disease is important for the treatment of colorectal cancer patients. Histopathological examination is the gold standard for screening colorectal cancer. However, the current lack of histopathological image datasets of colorectal cancer, especially enteroscope biopsies, hinders the accurate evaluation of computer-aided diagnosis techniques. Methods: A new publicly available Enteroscope Biopsy Histopathological H&E Image Dataset (EBHI) is published in this paper. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the EBHI dataset, we have utilized several machine learning, convolutional neural networks and novel transformer-based classifiers for experimentation and evaluation, using an image with a magnification of 200x. Results: Experimental results show that the deep learning method performs well on the EBHI dataset. Traditional machine learning methods achieve maximum accuracy of 76.02% and deep learning method achieves a maximum accuracy of 95.37%. Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, EBHI is the first publicly available colorectal histopathology enteroscope biopsy dataset with four magnifications and five types of images of tumor differentiation stages, totaling 5532 images. We believe that EBHI could attract researchers to explore new classification algorithms for the automated diagnosis of colorectal cancer, which could help physicians and patients in clinical settings.

In the past ten years, the computing power of machine vision (MV) has been continuously improved, and image analysis algorithms have developed rapidly. At the same time, histopathological slices can be stored as digital images. Therefore, MV algorithms can provide doctors with diagnostic references. In particular, the continuous improvement of deep learning algorithms has further improved the accuracy of MV in disease detection and diagnosis. This paper reviews the applications of image processing technology based on MV in lymphoma histopathological images in recent years, including segmentation, classification and detection. Finally, the current methods are analyzed, some more potential methods are proposed, and further prospects are made.

In the proposed SEHybridSN model, a dense block was used to reuse shallow feature and aimed at better exploiting hierarchical spatial spectral feature. Subsequent depth separable convolutional layers were used to discriminate the spatial information. Further refinement of spatial spectral features was realized by the channel attention method, which were performed behind every 3D convolutional layer and every 2D convolutional layer. Experiment results indicate that our proposed model learn more discriminative spatial spectral features using very few training data. An optical antenna can convert a propagative optical radiation into a localized excitation, and reciprocally. Although optical antennas can be readily created using resonant nanoparticles (metallic or dielectric) as elementary building blocks, the realization of antennas sustaining multiple resonances over a broad range of frequencies remains a challenging task. Here, we use aluminum self-similar, fractal-like structures as broadband optical antennas. Using electron energy loss spectroscopy, we experimentally evidence that a single aluminum Cayley tree, a simple self-similar structure, sustains multiple plasmonic resonances. The spectral position of these resonances is scalable over a broad spectral range spanning two decades, from ultraviolet to mid-infrared. Such multi-resonant structures are highly desirable for applications ranging from non-linear optics to light harvesting and photodetection, as well as surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy., Comment: Authors' version of the published paper. Transaction processing technology has three important contents: data anomalies, isolation levels, and concurrent control algorithms. Concurrent control algorithms are used to eliminate some or all data anomalies at different isolation levels to ensure data consistency. Isolation levels in the current ANSI standard are defined by disallowing certain kinds of data anomalies. Yet, the definitions of data anomalies in the ANSI standard are controversial. On one hand, the definitions lack a mathematical formalization and cause ambiguous interpretations. On the other hand, the definitions are made in a case-by-case manner and lead to a situation that even a senior DBA could not have infallible knowledge of data anomalies, due to a lack of a full understanding of its nature. While revised definitions in existing literature propose various mathematical formalizations to correct the former argument, how to address the latter argument still remains an open problem. In this paper, we present a general framework called Coo with the capability to systematically define data anomalies. Under this framework, we show that existing reported data anomalies are only a small portion. While we theoretically prove that Coo is complete to mathematically formalize data anomalies, we employ a novel method to classify infinite data anomalies. In addition, we use this framework to define new isolation levels and quantitatively describe the concurrency and rollback rate of mainstream concurrency control algorithms. These works show that the C and I of ACID can be quantitatively analyzed based on all data anomalies.
