Abstract: We report the measurement of the baryonic B decay B -→Σc++p̄π -π -. Using a data sample of 467×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring at SLAC, the measured branching fraction is (2.98±0.16 (stat)±0.15 (syst)±0. 77(Λ) c)×10 -4, where the last error is due to the uncertainty in B(Λc+→pK -π +). The data suggest the existence of resonant subchannels B -→Λ c(2595) +p̄π - and, possibly, B -→Σc++Δ ̄-π -. We see unexplained structures in m(Σc++π -π -) at 3.25GeV/c2, 3.8GeV/c2, and 4.2GeV/c2. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: The photon spectrum in the inclusive electromagnetic radiative decays of the B meson, B → X(s)γ plus B → X(d)γ, is studied using a data sample of (382.8 ± 4.2) × 10(6)Υ(4S) → BB decays collected by the BABAR experiment at SLAC. The spectrum is used to extract the branching fraction B(B → X(s)γ) = (3.21 ± 0.33) × 10(-4) for E(γ) >1.8 GeV and the direct CP asymmetry A(CP) (B → X(s+d)γ) = 0.057 ± 0.063. The effects of detector resolution and Doppler smearing are unfolded to measure the photon energy spectrum in the B meson rest frame.

Abstract: We report a study of the process γγ→X→η cπ +π -, where X stands for one of the resonances χ c2(1P), η c(2S), X(3872), X(3915), or χ c2(2P). The analysis is performed with a data sample of 473.9fb -1 collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. We do not observe a significant signal for any channel, and calculate 90% confidence-level upper limits on the products of branching fractions and two-photon widths Γ X→γγB(X→η cπ +π -): 15.7eV for χ c2(1P), 133eV for η c(2S), 11.1eV for X(3872) (assuming it to be a spin-2 state), 16eV for X(3915) (assuming it to be a spin-2 state), and 18eV for χ c2(2P). We also report upper limits on the ratios of branching fractions B(η c(2S) →η cπ +π -)/B(η c(2S) →KS0K +π -)

Abstract: We report the results of a study of the exclusive charmless semileptonic decays, B0→π -+ν, B +→π0 +ν, B +→ω +ν, B +→η +ν, and B +→η ′+ν (=e or μ) undertaken with approximately 462×106 BB̄ pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector. The analysis uses events in which the signal B decays are reconstructed with a loose neutrino reconstruction technique. We obtain partial branching fractions in several bins of q2, the square of the momentum transferred to the lepton-neutrino pair, for B0→π -+ν, B +→π0 +ν, B +→ω +ν, and B +→η +ν. From these distributions, we extract the form-factor shapes f +(q2) and the total branching fractions B(B0→π -+ν)=(1.45±0.04 stat±0.06 syst)×10 -4 (combined π - and π0 decay channels assuming isospin symmetry), B(B +→ω +ν)=(1.19±0.16 stat±0.09 syst)×10 -4 and B(B +→η +ν)=(0.38±0.05 stat±0.05 syst)×10 -4. We also measure B(B +→η ′+ν)=(0.24±0. 08 stat±0.03 syst)×10 -4. We obtain values for the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix element |V ub| by direct comparison with three different QCD calculations in restricted q2 ranges of B→π +ν decays. From a simultaneous fit to the experimental data over the full q2 range and the FNAL/MILC lattice QCD predictions, we obtain |V ub|=(3.25±0.31)×10 -3, where the error is the combined experimental and theoretical uncertainty. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a study of τ -→π -KS0KS0(π0) ν τ and τ -→K -KS0KS0(π0) ν τ decays using a data set of 430 million τ lepton pairs, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 468fb -1, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy e +e - storage rings. We measure branching fractions of (2.31±0.04±0.08) ×10 -4 and (1.60±0.20±0.22)×10 -5 for the τ -→π -KS0KS0ν τ and τ -→π -KS0KS0π0ν τ decays, respectively. We find no evidence for τ -→K -KS0KS0ν τ and τ -→K -KS0KS0π0ν τ decays and place upper limits on the branching fractions of 6.3×10 -7 and 4.0×10 -7 at the 90% confidence level. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We study the process γγ→J/ψω using a data sample of 519.2fb -1 recorded by the BABAR detector at SLAC at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e - collider at center-of-mass energies near the Υ(nS) (n=2,3,4) resonances. We confirm the existence of the charmoniumlike resonance X(3915) decaying to J/ψω with a significance of 7.6 standard deviations, including systematic uncertainties, and measure its mass (3919.4±2.2±1.6)MeV/c2 and width (13±6±3)MeV, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. A spin-parity analysis supports the assignment JP=0 + and therefore the identification of the signal as due to the χ c0(2P) resonance. In this hypothesis we determine the product between the two-photon width and the final state branching fraction to be (52±10±3)eV. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We establish improved upper limits on branching fractions for B0 decays to final states where the decay products are purely invisible (i.e., no observable final state particles) and for final states where the only visible product is a photon. Within the Standard Model, these decays have branching fractions that are below the current experimental sensitivity, but various models of physics beyond the Standard Model predict significant contributions for these channels. Using 471×106 BB̄ pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II e +e - storage ring at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, we establish upper limits at the 90% confidence level of 2.4×10 -5 for the branching fraction of B0→invisible and 1.7×10 -5 for the branching fraction of B0→invisible+γ. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We use 429fb -1 of e +e - collision data collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector to measure the radiative transition rate of b→sγ with a sum of 38 exclusive final states. The inclusive branching fraction with a minimum photon energy of 1.9 GeV is found to be B(B̄→X sγ)=(3.29±0.19±0. 48)×10 -4 where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. We also measure the first and second moments of the photon energy spectrum and extract the best-fit values for the heavy-quark parameters, m b and μπ2, in the kinetic and shape function models. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We study the process e +e -→J/ψπ +π - with initial-state-radiation events produced at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies 10.58 and 10.54 GeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 454fb -1. We investigate the J/ψπ +π - mass distribution in the region from 3.5 to 5.5GeV/c2. Below 3.7GeV/c2 the ψ(2S) signal dominates, and above 4GeV/c2 there is a significant peak due to the Y(4260). A fit to the data in the range 3.74-5.50GeV/c2 yields a mass value 4245±5(stat)±4(syst)MeV/c2 and a width value 114-15+16(stat) ±7(syst)MeV for this state. We do not confirm the report from the Belle Collaboration of a broad structure at 4.01GeV/c2. In addition, we investigate the π +π - system which results from Y(4260) decay. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: Based on the full BABAR data sample, we report improved measurements of the ratios R(D(*))=B(B[over ¯]→D(*)τ(-)ν[over ¯](τ))/B(B[over ¯]→D(*)ℓ(ℓ)(-)ν[over ¯](ℓ)), where ℓ is either e or μ. These ratios are sensitive to new physics contributions in the form of a charged Higgs boson. We measure R(D)=0.440±0.058±0.042 and R(D(*))=0.332±0.024±0.018, which exceed the standard model expectations by 2.0σ and 2.7σ, respectively. Taken together, our results disagree with these expectations at the 3.4σ level. This excess cannot be explained by a charged Higgs boson in the type II two-Higgs-doublet model.

Abstract: A precise measurement of the cross section of the process e +e -→π +π -(γ) from threshold to an energy of 3GeV is obtained with the initial-state radiation (ISR) method using 232fb -1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at e +e - center-of-mass energies near 10.6GeV. The ISR luminosity is determined from a study of the leptonic process e +e -→μ +μ -(γ) γ ISR, which is found to agree with the next-to-leading-order QED prediction to within 1.1%. The cross section for the process e +e -→π +π -(γ) is obtained with a systematic uncertainty of 0.5% in the dominant ρ resonance region. The leading-order hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly calculated using the measured ππ cross section from threshold to 1.8GeV is (514.1±2.2(stat)±3.1(syst))×10 -10. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: In a sample of 471×106 BB̄ events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e +e - collider we study the rare decays B→K( *) -+ -, where - +- - is either e +e - or μ +μ -. We report results on partial branching fractions and isospin asymmetries in seven bins of dilepton mass-squared. We further present CP and lepton-flavor asymmetries for dilepton masses below and above the J/ψ resonance. We find no evidence for CP or lepton-flavor violation. The partial branching fractions and isospin asymmetries are consistent with the Standard Model predictions and with results from other experiments. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report measurements of partial branching fractions for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays B̄→X ulν̄ and the determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix element |V ub|. The analysis is based on a sample of 467×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e +e - storage rings. We select events in which the decay of one of the B mesons is fully reconstructed and an electron or a muon signals the semileptonic decay of the other B meson. We measure partial branching fractions ΔB in several restricted regions of phase space and determine the CKM element |V ub| based on different QCD predictions. For decays with a charged lepton momentum pl*>1.0GeV in the B meson rest frame, we obtain ΔB=(1.80±0.13 stat±0.15 sys±0.02 theo)×10 -3 from a fit to the two-dimensional M X-q2 distribution. Here, M X refers to the invariant mass of the final state hadron X and q2 is the invariant mass squared of the charged lepton and neutrino. From this measurement we extract |V ub|=(4.33±0.24 exp±0.15 theo) ×10 -3 as the arithmetic average of four results obtained from four different QCD predictions of the partial rate. We separately determine partial branching fractions for B ̄0 and B - decays and derive a limit on the isospin breaking in B̄→X ulν̄ decays. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present searches for the rare decay modes D0→e +e -, D0→μ +μ -, and D0→e ±μ ∓ in continuum e +e -→cc̄ events recorded by the BABAR detector in a data sample that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 468fb -1. These decays are highly Glashow-Iliopoulos-Maiani suppressed but may be enhanced in several extensions of the standard model. Our observed event yields are consistent with the expected backgrounds. An excess is seen in the D0→μ +μ - channel, although the observed yield is consistent with an upward background fluctuation at the 5% level. Using the Feldman-Cousins method, we set the following 90% confidence level intervals on the branching fractions: B(D0→e +e -)

Abstract: We report measurements of partial branching fractions for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays B̄→X ulν̄ and the determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix element |V ub|. The analysis is based on a sample of 467×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e +e - storage rings. We select events in which the decay of one of the B mesons is fully reconstructed and an electron or a muon signals the semileptonic decay of the other B meson. We measure partial branching fractions ΔB in several restricted regions of phase space and determine the CKM element |V ub| based on different QCD predictions. For decays with a charged lepton momentum pl*>1.0GeV in the B meson rest frame, we obtain ΔB=(1.80±0.13 stat±0.15 sys±0.02 theo)×10 -3 from a fit to the two-dimensional M X-q2 distribution. Here, M X refers to the invariant mass of the final state hadron X and q2 is the invariant mass squared of the charged lepton and neutrino. From this measurement we extract |V ub|=(4.33±0.24 exp±0.15 theo) ×10 -3 as the arithmetic average of four results obtained from four different QCD predictions of the partial rate. We separately determine partial branching fractions for B ̄0 and B - decays and derive a limit on the isospin breaking in B̄→X ulν̄ decays. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: A precise measurement of the cross section of the process e +e -→π +π -(γ) from threshold to an energy of 3GeV is obtained with the initial-state radiation (ISR) method using 232fb -1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at e +e - center-of-mass energies near 10.6GeV. The ISR luminosity is determined from a study of the leptonic process e +e -→μ +μ -(γ) γ ISR, which is found to agree with the next-to-leading-order QED prediction to within 1.1%. The cross section for the process e +e -→π +π -(γ) is obtained with a systematic uncertainty of 0.5% in the dominant ρ resonance region. The leading-order hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly calculated using the measured ππ cross section from threshold to 1.8GeV is (514.1±2.2(stat)±3.1(syst))×10 -10. © 2012 American Physical Society.

The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the e +e - center-of-mass energy, so that the K +K -π +π -γ data can be compared with direct measurements of the e +e -→K +K -π +π - reaction. No direct measurements exist for the e +e -→K +K -π0π0 or e +e -→K +K -K +K - reactions, and we present an update of our previous result based on a data sample that is twice as large. Studying the structure of these events, we find contributions from a number of intermediate states and extract their cross sections. In particular, we perform a more detailed study of the e +e -→φ(1020)ππγ reaction and confirm the presence of the Y(2175) resonance in the φ(1020)f 0(980) and K +K -f 0(980) modes. Abstract: We present a search for the lepton flavor violating decay modes B ±→h ±τ l (h=K, π; l=e, μ) using the BABAR data sample, which corresponds to 472×106 BB̄ pairs. The search uses events where one B meson is fully reconstructed in one of several hadronic final states. Using the momenta of the reconstructed B, h, and l candidates, we are able to fully determine the τ four-momentum. The resulting τ candidate mass is our main discriminant against combinatorial background. We see no evidence for B ±→h ±τ l decays and set a 90% confidence level upper limit on each branching fraction at the level of a few times 10 -5. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We perform amplitude analyses of the decays B0→K +K -KS0, B +→K +K -K +, and B +→KS0KS0K +, and measure CP-violating parameters and partial branching fractions. The results are based on a data sample of approximately 470×106 BB̄ decays, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. For B +→K +K -K +, we find a direct CP asymmetry in B +→(1020)K + of A CP=(12.8±4.4±1.3)%, which differs from zero by 2.8σ. For B0→K +K -KS0, we measure the CP-violating phase β eff((1020)KS0)=(21±6±2)°. For B +→KS0KS0K +, we measure an overall direct CP asymmetry of A CP=(4-5+4±2)%. Abstract: We study the process e +e -→π +π -π +π -γ, with a photon emitted from the initial-state electron or positron, using 454.3fb -1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC, corresponding to approximately 260000 signal events. We use these data to extract the nonradiative σ(e +e -→π +π -π +π -) cross section in the energy range from 0.6 to 4.5 GeV. The total uncertainty of the cross section measurement in the peak region is less than 3%, higher in precision than the corresponding results obtained from energy scan data. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present results for B-meson decay modes involving a charm meson, protons, and pions using 455×106 BB̄ pairs recorded by the BaBar detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e - collider. The branching fractions are measured for the following ten decays: B ̄0→D0pp̄, B ̄0→D *0pp̄, B ̄0→D +pp̄π -, B ̄0→D *+pp̄π -, B -→D0pp̄π -, B -→D *0pp̄π -, B ̄0→D0pp̄π -π +, B ̄0→D *0pp̄π -π +, B -→D +pp̄π -π -, and B -→D *+pp̄π -π -. The four B - and the two five-body B ̄0 modes are observed for the first time. The four-body modes are enhanced compared to the three- and the five-body modes. In the three-body modes, the M(pp̄) and M(D(*)0p) invariant-mass distributions show enhancements near threshold values. In the four-body mode B ̄0→D +pp̄π -, the M(pπ -) distribution shows a narrow structure of unknown origin near 1.5GeV/c2. The distributions for the five-body modes, in contrast to the others, are similar to the expectations from uniform phase-space predictions. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: Recent astrophysical and terrestrial experiments have motivated the proposal of a dark sector with GeV-scale gauge boson force carriers and new Higgs bosons. We present a search for a dark Higgs boson using 516 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector. We do not observe a significant signal and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the standard model-dark-sector mixing angle and the dark-sector coupling constant.

The data sample analyzed corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 470.5fb -1 collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e - collider at SLAC. Abstract: We present branching fraction measurements for the decays B0→ρ0K *0, B0→f 0K *0, and B0→ρ -K *+, where K * is an S-wave (Kπ)0* or a K *(892) meson; we also measure B0→f 0K2*(1430)0. For the K *(892) channels, we report measurements of longitudinal polarization fractions (for ρ final states) and direct CP violation asymmetries. These results are obtained from a sample of (471.0±2.8) ×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e - collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We observe ρ0K *(892)0, ρ0(Kπ)0*0, f 0K *(892)0, and ρ -K *(892) + with greater than 5σ significance, including systematics. We report first evidence for f 0(Kπ)0*0 and f 0K2*(1430)0, and place an upper limit on ρ -(Kπ)0*+. Our results in the K *(892) channels are consistent with no direct CP violation. © 2012 American Physical Society.

We find no evidence for these decays and place 90%-confidence-level upper limits on their branching fractions B(B +→π -e +e +)

Abstract: We have searched for the lepton-number violating processes B +→h -- +- + with h -=K -/π - and - +=e +/μ +, using a sample of 471±3 million BB̄ events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e +e - collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We find no evidence for these decays and place 90%-confidence-level upper limits on their branching fractions B(B +→π -e +e +)

Abstract: We present branching fraction measurements for the decays B0→ρ0K *0, B0→f 0K *0, and B0→ρ -K *+, where K * is an S-wave (Kπ)0* or a K *(892) meson; we also measure B0→f 0K2*(1430)0. For the K *(892) channels, we report measurements of longitudinal polarization fractions (for ρ final states) and direct CP violation asymmetries. These results are obtained from a sample of (471.0±2.8) ×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e - collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We observe ρ0K *(892)0, ρ0(Kπ)0*0, f 0K *(892)0, and ρ -K *(892) + with greater than 5σ significance, including systematics. We report first evidence for f 0(Kπ)0*0 and f 0K2*(1430)0, and place an upper limit on ρ -(Kπ)0*+. Our results in the K *(892) channels are consistent with no direct CP violation. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present the first results on the Dalitz-plot structure and improved measurements of the time-dependent CP-violation parameters of the process B0→KS0KS0KS0 obtained using 468×106BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. The Dalitz-plot structure is probed by a time-integrated amplitude analysis that does not distinguish between B0and B ̄0 decays. We measure the total inclusive branching fraction B(B0→KS0KS0KS0)=(6.19±0. 48±0.15±0.12)×10 -6, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third represents the Dalitz-plot signal model dependence. We also observe evidence for the intermediate resonant states f 0(980), f 0(1710), and f 2(2010). Their respective product branching fractions are measured to be (2.70-1.19+1.25±0.36±1.17)×10 -6, (0.50-0.24+0.46±0.04±0.10)×10 -6, and (0.54-0.20+0.21±0.03±0.52)×10 -6. Additionally, we determine the mixing-induced CP-violation parameters to be S=-0.94-0.21+0. 24±0.06 and C=-0.17±0.18±0.04, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. These values are in agreement with the standard model expectation. For the first time, we report evidence of CP violation in B0→KS0KS0KS0 decays; CP conservation is excluded at 3.8 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report a search for CP violation in the decay τ -→π -KS0(0π0)ν τ using a data set of 437×106 τ-lepton pairs, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 476fb -1, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e - storage rings. The CP-violating decay-rate asymmetry is determined to be (-0.36±0. 23±0.11)% approximately 2.8 standard deviations from the standard model prediction of (0.36±0.01)%. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a search for semileptonic B decays to the charmed baryon Λc+ based on 420fb -1 of data collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e +e - storage rings. By fully reconstructing the recoiling B in a hadronic decay mode, we reduce non-B backgrounds and determine the flavor of the signal B. We statistically correct the flavor for the effect of the B0 mixing. We obtain a 90% confidence level upper limit of B(B̄→Λc+X -ν ̄)/B(B̄→Λc+X)

Abstract: We report a measurement of the inclusive semileptonic branching fraction of the B s meson using data collected with the BABAR detector in the center-of-mass energy region above the Υ(4S) resonance. We use the inclusive yield of mesons and the yield in association with a high-momentum lepton to perform a simultaneous measurement of the semileptonic branching fraction and the production rate of B s mesons relative to all B mesons as a function of center-of-mass energy. The inclusive semileptonic branching fraction of the B s meson is determined to be B(B s→νX)=9.5-2.0+2.5(stat)-1.9+1.1(syst)%, where indicates the average of e and μ. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report updated branching fraction measurements of the color-suppressed decays B ̄0→D0π0, D *0π0, D0η, D *0η, D0ω, D *0ω, D0η ′, and D *0η ′. We measure the branching fractions (×10 -4): B(B ̄0→D0π0)=2.69±0.09±0.13, B(B ̄0→D *0π0)=3.05±0.14±0.28, B(B ̄0→D0η)=2.53±0.09±0.11, B(B ̄0→D *0η)=2.69±0.14±0.23, B(B ̄0→D0ω)=2.57±0.11±0.14, B(B ̄0→D *0ω)=4.55±0.24±0. 39, B(B ̄0→D0η ′)=1.48±0. 13±0.07, and B(B ̄0→D *0η ′)=1.49±0.22±0.15. We also present the first measurement of the longitudinal polarization fraction of the decay channel D *0ω, f L=(66.5±4.7±1.5)%. In the above, the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The results are based on a sample of (454±5)×106 BB̄ pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance, with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage rings at SLAC. The measurements are the most precise determinations of these quantities from a single experiment. They are compared to theoretical predictions obtained by factorization, Soft Collinear Effective Theory (SCET) and perturbative QCD (pQCD). We find that the presence of final state interactions is favored and the measurements are in better agreement with SCET than with pQCD. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report an analysis of charmless hadronic decays of charged B mesons to the final state K+π0π0, using a data sample of (470.9±2.8)×106 BB̄ events collected with the BABAR detector at the Υ(4S) resonance. We observe an excess of signal events, with a significance above 10 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties, and measure the branching fraction and CP asymmetry to be B(B +→K+π0π0)=(16.2±1.2±1.5) ×10-6 and ACP(B+→K +π0π0)=-0.06±0.06±0.04, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Additionally, we study the contributions of the B+→K*(892) +π0, B+→f0(980)K+, and B+→χc0K+ quasi-two-body decays. We report the world's best measurements of the branching fraction and CP asymmetry of the B+→K+π0π0 and B+→K *(892)+π0 channels. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We search for hadronic decays of a light Higgs boson (A(0)) produced in radiative decays of an Υ(2S) or Υ(3S) meson, Υ→γA(0). The data have been recorded by the BABAR experiment at the Υ(3S) and Υ(2S) center-of-mass energies and include (121.3±1.2)×10(6) Υ(3S) and (98.3±0.9)×10(6) Υ(2S) mesons. No significant signal is observed. We set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product branching fractions B(Υ(nS)→γA(0))B(A(0)→hadrons) (n=2 or 3) that range from 1×10(-6) for an A(0) mass of 0.3 GeV/c(2) to 8×10(-5) at 7 GeV/c(2).

Abstract: Using a sample of 122×106 Υ(3S) events recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e - collider at SLAC, we search for the h b(1P) spin-singlet partner of the P-wave χ bJ(1P) states in the sequential decay Υ(3S) →π0h b(1P), h b(1P) →γη b(1S). We observe an excess of events above background in the distribution of the recoil mass against the π0 at mass 9902±4(stat)±2(syst)MeV/c2. The width of the observed signal is consistent with experimental resolution, and its significance is 3.1σ, including systematic uncertainties. Abstract: We study the Υ(3S,2S)→ηΥ(1S) and Υ(3S,2S) →π +π -Υ(1S) transitions with 122×106Υ(3S) and 100×106Υ(2S) mesons collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e - collider. We measure B[Υ(2S)→ηΥ(1S)]=(2.39±0.31(stat.) ±0.14(syst.))×10 -4 and Γ[Υ(2S) →ηΥ(1S)]/Γ[Υ(2S)→π +π -Υ(1S)]=(1.35±0.17(stat.)±0.08(syst.)) ×10 -3. We find no evidence for Υ(3S)→ηΥ(1S) and obtain B[Υ(3S)→ηΥ(1S)]
