Abstract

Consider a connected reductive algebraic group $ G $ and a symmetric subgroup $ K $. Let $ \mathfrak{X} = K/B_K \times G/P $ be a double flag variety of finite type, where $ B_K $ is a Borel subgroup of $ K $, and $ P $ a parabolic subgroup of $ G $. A general argument shows that the orbit space $ \mathbb{C}\,\mathfrak{X}/K $ inherits a natural action of the Hecke algebra $ \mathscr{H} = \mathscr{H}(K, B_K) $ of double cosets via convolutions. However, to find out the explicit structure of the Hecke module is a quite different problem. In this paper, we determine the explicit action of $ \mathscr{H} $ on $ \mathbb{C}\,\mathfrak{X}/K $ in a combinatorial way using graphs for the double flag variety of type AIII. As a by-product, we also get the description of the representation of the Weyl group on $ \mathbb{C}\,\mathfrak{X}/K $ as a direct sum of induced representations., Comment: 18 pages

Abstract

A quantum battery is a device where an energy is charged by using a quantum effect. Here, we propose a quantum battery with a charger system composed of $N$ qubits by utilizing a collective effect called a superabsorption. Importantly, the coupling strength between the quantum battery and charger system can be enhanced due to an entanglement. While the charger time scales as $\Theta\left(N^{-1/2}\right)$ by applying a conventional scheme, we can achieve a charging time $\Theta\left(N^{-1}\right)$ in our scheme. Our results open the path to ultra-fast charging of a quantum battery.

Abstract

An ensemble model of turbulence is proposed. The ensemble consists of flow fields in which the flux of an inviscid conserved quantity, such as energy (or enstrophy in two-dimensional flow fields), across the wavenumber $k$ is a constant independent of $k$ in an appropriate range. Two-dimensional flow fields of constant enstrophy flux are sampled randomly by a Monte Carlo method. The energy spectra $E_k$ of the flow fields are consistent with the scaling $E_k \propto k^{-3}(\ln(k/k_\mathrm{b}))^{-1/3}$ where $k_\mathrm{b}$ is the bottom wavenumber of the constant-flux range., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

Interfaces between dissimilar correlated oxides can offer devices with versatile functionalities. In that respect, manipulating and measuring novel physical properties of oxide heterointerfaces are highly desired. Yet, despite extensive studies, obtaining direct information on their momentum-resolved electronic structure remains a great challenge. This is because most correlated interfacial phenomena appear within a few atomic layers from the interface, thus limiting the application of available experimental probes. Here, we utilize atomic-scale epitaxy and photoemission spectroscopy to demonstrate the interface control of correlated electronic phases in atomic-scale ruthenate--titanate heterostructures. While bulk SrRuO$_3$ is a ferromagnetic metal, the heterointerfaces exclusively realize three distinct correlated phases in the single-atomic-layer limit. Our theory reveals that atomic-scale structural proximity effects lead to the emergence of Fermi liquid, Hund metal, and Mott insulator phases in the quantum-confined SrRuO$_3$. 172. Spontaneous generation and active manipulation of real-space optical vortex

Abstract

Optical vortices host the orbital nature of photons, which offers an extra degree of freedom in photonic applications. Unlike vortices in other physical entities, optical vortices require structural singularities, which restrict their abilities in terms of dynamic and interactive characteristics. In this study, we present the spontaneous generation and external magnetic field-induced manipulation of an optical vortex and antivortex. A gradient-thickness optical cavity (GTOC) consisting of an Al/SiO2/Ni/SiO2 multilayer structure realised the distinct transition between the trivial and non-trivial topological phases, depending on the magneto-optic effects of the Ni layer. In the non-trivial topological phase, the mathematical singularities generating the optical vortex and antivortex pair in the reflected light existed in the generalised parameter space of the thicknesses of the top and bottom SiO2 layers, which is bijective to the real space of the GTOC. Coupled with the magnetisation, the optical vortex and antivortex in the GTOC experienced an effective spin-orbit interaction and showed topology-dependent dynamics under external magnetic fields. We expect that field-induced engineering of optical vortices will pave the way for the study of topological photonic interactions and their applications., Comment: 22 pages, 4 figures
