Abstract

The Fibre Bragg Gratings (FBG) technology based on integrated photonics, offers specific benefits including thermal mapping, damage detection, shape- and distributed sensing. This makes it useful for determining pavement behaviour during extreme weather conditions e.g. freeze-thaw cycles when harsh winter conditions could damage the asphalt surfacing layer. However, the harsh construction environment and traffic loading highlights the high-risk challenge of installing the sensor into the asphalt layer in a noninvasive manner so that the key parameters are accurately measured during and after construction.

Abstract

In the present paper, Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) controller using the Least Mean Fourth (LMF) algorithm is presented. The proposed DVR is used for protecting various voltage-sensitive loads from voltage-related power quality issues (i.e. balanced voltage sag, unbalanced voltage sag and voltage harmonic distortion, balanced and unbalanced swell, etc.) in a distribution system. The active and reactive power components of distorted source voltage are extracted using an adaptive LMF-based control algorithm for the calculation of reference load voltage for the voltage source converter (VSC) of DVR. The control algorithm doesn't require a phase-locked loop (PLL) and thus is less complex, robust and easy to implement. The adopted control algorithm for DVR is verified in MATLAB by simulation studies. The adaptive LMF-controlled DVR produces excellent dynamics response as compared to conventional adaptive Least Mean Square (LMS) and Synchronous reference frame theory (SRFT)-controlled DVR. The convergence rate of the source voltage fundamental active weight component is higher for the proposed adaptive LMF-controlled DVR. Various power quality issues such as balanced sag, unbalanced sag, balanced and unbalanced swell and a combination of these power quality issues are mitigated with the help of the LMF-controlled DVR. Abstract

An experiment entitled "Studies on the management of rice diseases through local isolates of Trichoderma spp." was conducted during 2022-23 to evaluate the effect of local isolates of Trichoderma spp. to control the Sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani) and Brown spot (Helminthosporium oryzae) disease of rice. Trichoderma species had a significant effect on controlling radial growths of Sheath blight and Brown spot disease of rice. Trichoderma isolate S-8 and S-10 (98.10%) significantly inhibited the radial growth of Sheath blight at 96 hours and it was on par with S-5 (97.47%). Trichoderma isolates S-8 and S-10 (98.10%) are very effective for the management of Sheath blight diseases of rice and S-6, S-7, S-9, and S-10 (95.80%) are effective for the management Brown spot disease of rice. Abstract

Among the various mushrooms widely found in India, Pleurotus ostreatus is also known as oyster mushroom and possesses antioxidant and antitumor medicinal activity (Bhatt et al (2011). The present investigation was carried out to find the best supplement combination for the cultivation of Pleurotus ostreatus. Different substrates, namely T1-Soybean flour @ 5% + Wheat straw, T2-Soybean flour @ 10% + Wheat straw, T3-Pearl millet flour @ 5% + Wheat straw, T4-Pearl millet flour @ 10% + Wheat straw, T5-Black gram flour @ 5% + Wheat straw, T6-Black gram flour @ 10% + Wheat straw, T7-Wheat straw (Control) were mixed with the wheat straw. Spawning was done @ 4% weight basis of wheat straw. Among the different treatment, T2-Soybean flour @ 10% + Wheat straw has recorded the minimum days of pinhead formation (16 days), maximum number of pinhead formation (71.25), it also has the highest number of the fruiting body (34.00) and maximum yield of 580 g was recorded.
