156. Higgs potential in a minimal S3 invariant extension of the standard model

Abstract

金沢大学大学院自然科学研究科物理学, 金沢大学理学部, Minimal S3 invariant Higgs potential with real soft S 3 breaking masses is investigated. It is required that without having a problem with triviality, all physical Higgs bosons, except one neutral one, become heavy ≳ 10 TeV in order to sufficiently suppress flavor-changing neutral currents. There exist three nonequivalent soft mass terms that can be characterized according to their discrete symmetries, and the one that breaks S3 completely. The S2′ invariant vacuum expectation values (VEVs) of the Higgs fields are the most economic VEVs in the sense that the freedom of VEVs can be completely absorbed into the Yukawa couplings so that it is possible to derive, without referring to the details of the VEVs, the most general form for the fermion mass matrices in minimal S3 extension of the standard model. We find that except for the completely broken case of the soft terms, the S2′ invariant VEVs are unique VEVs that satisfy the requirement of heavy Higgs bosons. It is found that they also correspond to a local minimum in the completely broken case. ©2004 The American Physical Society.

165. Suppressing the μ and neutrino masses by a superconformal force

Abstract

金沢大学大学院自然科学研究科物理学, 金沢大学理学部, The idea of Nelson and Strassler to obtain a power law suppression of parameters by a superconformal force is applied to understand the smallness of the μ parameter and neutrino masses in R-parity violating supersymmetric standard models. We find that the low-energy sector should contain at least another pair of Higgs doublets, and that a suppression of ≲O(10-13) for the μ parameter and neutrino masses can be achieved generically. The superpotential of the low-energy sector happens to possess an anomaly-free discrete R symmetry, either R3 or R6, which naturally suppresses certain lepton-flavor violating processes, the neutrinoless double beta decays and also the electron electric dipole moment. We expect that the escape energy of the superconformal sector is ≲O(10) TeV so that this sector will be observable at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Our models can accommodate a large mixing among neutrinos and give the same upper bound of the lightest Higgs boson mass as the minimal supersymmetric standard model. ©2001 The American Physical Society.

184. Majorana phase in minimal <f>S3</f> invariant extension of the standard model

Abstract

The leptonic sector in a recently proposed minimal extension of the standard model, in which the permutation symmetry S3 is assumed to be an exact flavor symmetry at the weak scale, is revisited. We find that S3 with an additional ZN symmetry allows one CP violating phase φν in the neutrino mixing. The leptonic sector contains six real parameters besides the phase φν to describe charged lepton and neutrino masses and the neutrino mixing. The model predicts: an inverted spectrum of neutrino mass, the absence of CP violating Dirac phase, tanθ23=1+O(me2/mμ2) and sinθ13=0.0034+O(memμ/mτ2). Neutrino mass as well as the effective Majorana mass 〈mee〉 in the neutrinoless double-β decay can be expressed in a closed form as a function of φν,Δm221,Δm223 and tanθ12. The model also predicts 〈mee〉&ges;(0.036–0.066) eV. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
