Fifty years of worldwide success of Positive Psychotherapy practice suggested that primary capacities, postulated by prof. Nossrat Peseschkian, are reliable criteria to diagnose the integration level of personal psychological functioning. If this assumption is correct, then the higher level of integration of primary capacities should correlate with better adaptability, and inversely the lower level of integration should correlate with a higher level of perceived stress, anxiety and depression under the pressure of crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. To test this hypothesis, we surveyed internationally 1165 respondents, collecting data on emotional reactions and coping strategies engaging primary capacities of personality structure. As a result of this research, we discovered that a lower integration level of 4 out of 8 primary capacities, namely: ideal, trust, love, and time significantly correlate with a higher level of perceived depression, anxiety and stress. Those results support our initial hypothesis that the lower level of primary capacities would allow a higher level of depression and anxiety.

To diagnose and treat somatic disorders while considering psychosocial factors, medical and psychological practices require a comprehensive and operationalized list of criteria. The Evaluation Criteria for Psychosomatic Practice (ECPP) has been developed to address this need. It builds upon the updated version of the Diagnostic Criteria for Psychosomatic Research (DCPR) by incorporating significant psychodynamic factors and restructuring its framework to better cater to the practical demands of clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and outcome monitoring. It offers four axes for clinical evaluation that can be used together or separately, depending on the needs of diagnostic process, treatment, informing the patient, or research: psychosomatic symptoms and complaints, risk factors related to personality structure, triggers, and secondary risk factors. By utilizing the ECPP’s four axes, clinicians can gain a deeper understanding of how psychosocial factors impact the clinical picture and dynamics of somatic disorders and then effectively communicate this knowledge to patients, improving compliance and collaboration in treatment. Additionally, the ECPP’s framework allows for a balance of psychological, physical, and social treatment interventions that can be tailored to the specific needs of the patient, ultimately leading to better treatment outcomes.

The aim of the work was to determine the effective ultraviolet (UV) doses required for the disinfection of surfaces contaminated with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus using a low-pressure mercury lamp. Materials and methods. To carry out prompt disinfection of surfaces, a specially designed source of UV radiation with a power of 7.5 W at a wavelength of 254 nm in the form of a portable flashlight was employed, which has a high efficiency of UV radiation output and the possibility of long-term autonomous operation from a compact battery. In the studies, a suspension culture of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus with biological activity of 5.3∙106 PFU/ml was used. The objects of testing were plastic Petri dishes (disposable) and office paper (grade C, density 80 g/m2 ). Results and discussion. Doses of UV radiation that provide disinfection of surfaces contaminated with the COVID-19 pathogen with an efficiency of 99.0 % (paper) to 99.95 % (plastic) have been determined. The results obtained make it possible to recommend a portable UV irradiator for use in the practice of preventive measures to combat the spread of the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

The taxonomic status of many species of the family Cyclocoelidae is still unclear. Two species of cyclocoelids, Harrahium obscurum and Morishitium dollfusi, were collected from the air sacs of birds (Turdus merula and Tringa ochropus) inhabiting the Middle Volga region (European Russia). Here, we provide the first detailed morphological description of these cyclocoelids and combine it with the first molecular phylogenetic analysis of Cyclocoelidae from birds in Russia based on partial sequences of their 28s rDNA and coI mtDNA genes. Specimens of both flatworm species from different host individuals differ slightly in body shape and size, which probably reflects host-induced intraspecific variability. For the first time, we have shown that a stable morphological character such as the length of the vitelline fields in the studied digeneans is variable at the species level and cannot be used in their morphological diagnosis.

ABSTRACT Cancers associated with the oncogenic gammaherpesviruses, Epstein-Barr virus and Kaposi sarcoma herpesvirus, are notable for their constitutive activation of the transcription factor signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3). To better understand the role of STAT3 during gammaherpesvirus latency and the B cell response to infection, we used the model pathogen murine gammaherpesvirus 68 (MHV68). Genetic deletion of STAT3 in B cells of CD19cre/+Stat3f/f mice reduced peak MHV68 latency approximately sevenfold. However, infected CD19cre/+Stat3f/f mice exhibited disordered germinal centers and heightened virus-specific CD8 T cell responses compared to wild-type (WT) littermates. To circumvent the systemic immune alterations observed in the B cell-STAT3 knockout mice and more directly evaluate intrinsic roles for STAT3, we generated mixed bone marrow chimeric mice consisting of WT and STAT3 knockout B cells. We discovered a dramatic reduction in latency in STAT3 knockout B cells compared to their WT B cell counterparts in the same lymphoid organ. RNA sequencing of sorted germinal center B cells revealed that MHV68 infection shifts the gene signature toward proliferation and away from type I and type II IFN responses. Loss of STAT3 largely reversed the virus-driven transcriptional shift without impacting the viral gene expression program. STAT3 promoted B cell processes of the germinal center, including IL-21-stimulated downregulation of surface CD23 on B cells infected with MHV68 or EBV. Together, our data provide mechanistic insights into the role of STAT3 as a latency determinant in B cells for oncogenic gammaherpesviruses.IMPORTANCEThere are no directed therapies to the latency program of the human gammaherpesviruses, Epstein-Barr virus and Kaposi sarcoma herpesvirus. Activated host factor signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is a hallmark of cancers caused by these viruses. We applied the murine gammaherpesvirus pathogen system to explore STAT3 function upon primary B cell infection in the host. Since STAT3 deletion in all CD19+ B cells of infected mice led to altered B and T cell responses, we generated chimeric mice with both normal and STAT3-deleted B cells. B cells lacking STAT3 failed to support virus latency compared to normal B cells from the same infected animal. Loss of STAT3 impaired B cell proliferation and differentiation and led to a striking upregulation of interferon-stimulated genes. These findings expand our understanding of STAT3-dependent processes that are key to its function as a pro-viral latency determinant for oncogenic gammaherpesviruses in B cells and may provide novel therapeutic targets.

We combined records from moorings, profilers, and CTD transects obtained in an Arctic fjord (Young Sound, Greenland) to assess the effects of local meltwater input at the beginning of ice melt while the fjord was still covered by ice. Results indicate that light penetrated below the ice and was available throughout the sampling period. Melting began at the mouth, where the ice and snow layers were thinner. At the mouth, meltwater triggered stratification and the onset of an under-ice phytoplankton bloom, as shown by an increase in chlorophyll-a (chl-a), fluorescence-CDOM, and oxygen saturation. Chl-a was highly correlated with salinity (−0.84) and temperature (0.88), indicating a strong association with the input of meltwater, while the maximums in chl-a and oxygen matched the distribution of the meltwater. At the mouth, in the area where the meltwater occurred, average chl-a increased from 0.27 mg m−3 to 0.40 mg m−3, and by the end of the record, it was three times greater than the surrounding waters. In the area of the patch of meltwater on 26–28 May, averaged oxygen increased by 4%–5% during the sampling period. Inside the fjord, patches of meltwater occurred and were advected from the mouth by an in-fjord flow. Within these patches of meltwater, chl-a and oxygen saturation increased, and by the end of the record, they were two times and 5% higher than the surrounding waters, respectively. This study shows that meltwater and stratification were more important than light for the onset of the under-ice bloom and suggests a significant portion of pelagic primary productivity occurs before ice breakup.

Ultrafine silicon carbide powders of two types were used as fillers for synthesis of porous ceramics. The first powder was obtained by the furnace method (SiCF), the second sample was synthesized using the SHS technology (SiCSHS). The fillers had identical average particle size, but different morphology of their surface. It is established that with the same size, the morphology of initial powder components determined structural parameters and characteristics of the synthesized porous ceramics. It determines effective applicability of various materials for ultrafiltration or catalysis processes.

Abstract Water‐splitting reactions such as the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) typically require expensive noble metal‐based electrocatalysts. This has motivated researchers to develop novel, cost‐effective electrocatalytic systems. In this study, a new multicomponent nanocomposite was assembled by combining functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes, a Cu‐based metal–organic framework (MOF) (HKUST‐1 or HK), and a sulfidized NiMn‐layered double hydroxide (NiMn‐S). The resulting nanocomposite, abbreviated as MW/HK/NiMn‐S, features a unique architecture, high porosity, numerous electroactive Cu/Ni/Mn sites, fast charge transfer, excellent structural stability, and conductivity. At a current density of 10 mA cm−2, this dual‐function electrocatalyst shows remarkable performance, with ultralow overpotential values of 163 mV (OER) or 73 mV (HER), as well as low Tafel slopes (57 and 75 mV dec−1, respectively). Additionally, its high turnover frequency values (4.43 s−1 for OER; 3.96 s−1 for HER) are significantly superior to those of standard noble metal‐based Pt/C and IrO2 systems. The synergistic effect of the nanocomposite's different components is responsible for its enhanced electrocatalytic performance. A density functional theory study revealed that the multi‐interface and multicomponent heterostructure contribute to increased electrical conductivity and decreased energy barrier, resulting in superior electrocatalytic HER/OER activity. This study presents a novel vision for designing advanced electrocatalysts with superior performance in water splitting. Various composites have been utilized in water‐splitting applications. This study investigates the use of the MW/HK/NiMn‐S electrocatalyst for water splitting for the first time to indicate the synergistic effect between carbon‐based materials along with layered double hydroxide compounds and porous compounds of MOF. The unique features of each component in this composite can be an interesting topic in the field of water splitting.

Based on Schumpeter's process of creative destruction, we propose a qualitative model of the cyclic process of introducing new technologies. The model consists of a variable structure system with switchings between three globally stable dynamical subsystems. The switchings between regimes make it possible to describe the process of departing the system from the equilibrium state in the process of introducing new technologies. The alternation of regimes implies lack of equilibrium for the variable structure system despite the global stability of its subsystems. This mathematical fact corresponds to a typical situation in real economic systems during the renovation period. The proposed model shows the global cyclicity of the process of introducing new technologies. In the case of an unsuccessful technology introduction, we establish the existence of a closed trajectory of the system. Bibliography: 17 titles. Orchids form one of the most threatened plant families in the world. For a successful conservation of these species, comprehensive studies of their biology and ecology are necessary, and long-term demographic studies are especially valuable in this regard. This article aimed to present results of long-term observations of two populations of Calypso bulbosa, a rare orchid included in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation, on the northern border of its range, in the Komi Republic (northeast of European Russia). Seasonal development, ontogenesis, number of individuals and structure of populations, and reproductive success of C. bulbosa were studied. The influence of weather factors on the peculiarities of the small and large life cycles of this species has been revealed. Populations of C. bulbosa located in various habitats differ in a number of characteristics (e.g. number of individuals, spatial placement of plants, their size, the number of generative individuals). The fruit set of C. bulbosa on the northern border of the range is quite low (28.4%). This is compensated by the formation of a large number of tiny (0.68 × 0.11 mm) seeds. The pollination efficiency of the species is affected by the temperature of the beginning of the growing season and precipitation of the second decade of June, as well as by the flowering time. With deterioration of habitat conditions (more northern or shaded habitats), the seed index increases. The seeds become more volatile, which increases chances of reaching favourable sites for seed germination. One capsule of C. bulbosa contains an average of 19 900 seeds. The real seed production is 6500 seeds per plant. The seed production of C. bulbosa varies greatly year by year; it depends on the weather conditions of the first decade of June. In both studied populations, the presence of juvenile individuals (from 3.3% to 41.4%) during all years of the study indicates a successful seed regeneration, which, along with vegetative growth, ensures the stable existence of C. bulbosa populations on the northern border of the range.

At present time widespread use of autonomous laser systems supposes reducing of supply energy, consumed by laser sources that are included in their composition and at the same time increasing of their output energy characteristics. The objective of this work was practical confirmation of possibility of laser beam combining in systems based on a ring delay line.The experimental setup that implements the principle of synchronous laser beam combining scheme on the ring fiber-optic delay line, developed by authors earlier, is made. The schematic diagram of the manufactured setup is presented, its operation principle is described in detail and its composition is considered. It is noted that in order to achieve the objective measurements of electrical signals received from the photodetector of the setup and measurements of the part of laser radiation power removed by the splitter and formed in the fiber-optic path of the setup are performed. Results of measurements are presented as the waveforms of electrical signals from the photodetector and of power values at the output of the splitter. Plots of dependence of the output power and the circulation power on the power of the initial laser beam introduced into the setup are presented.Analysis of results showed that the laser beam combining occurs in the ring fiber-optic delay line. Besides, it was found that the proposed scheme provides an increase in the power of the initial beam by 1.05…1.11 times.

As the body ages, free radical processes intensify and the risk of various age-related diseases increases, including memory impairment, as exchange processes in nerve cells deteriorate. The internal antioxidant system, capable of neutralizing free radicals, is not always able to cope with the growing load, and then the supply of antioxidants from outside is necessary. A source of biologically active substances possessing antioxidant activity are plant extracts possessing a pronounced therapeutic effect combined with a minimum of side effects. The purpose of our study was to study the learning and memory of the offspring of rats that received aqueous plant extracts as an additional load. The study of the learning and memory of the offspring of rats that received aqueous plant extracts of Ginkgo biloba, Centella asiatica, Eleutherococcus and a mixture of aqueous extracts of Ginkgo biloba and Centella asiatica was performed on 4-month-old animals, obtained in an experiment from 15 males and 50 females, which in the course of 30 days water extracts were obtained in a dose of 30 mg/100 g of body weight in a volume of 1 ml. The study was carried out with the help of the test "Passive escape with negative (painful) reinforcement". Conclusions: the offspring of rats that received as an additional load intragastric mixture of aqueous extracts of Ginkgo biloba and Centella asiatica are characterized by the best indicators of learning and memory, compared to the offspring of animals of the control group, and rats that received aqueous extracts of Ginkgo biloba, Centella asiatica and Eleutherococcus separately.

Since 2000, the Laboratory of Historical Informatics of Nizhny Tagil State Socio-Pedagogical Institute has been working on the project “Gedenkbuch: Book of Memory of the Repressed Russian Germans.” Within the framework of the project, collective monographs on the corrective labor camps (ITLs) of the Urals were published and an electronic database of about 100 000 persons was created based on the materials of record files of forced labor camps. The purpose of this article is to familiarize readers with the results of the comparative analysis of social portrait of the persons mobilized for labor in several camps in the Urals according to the generally accepted parameters related to the contents of the primary source, the latter being registration cards of special contingent in the archives of law enforcement agencies. Archival sources of the corrective labor camps of the Gulag and electronic databases that were compiled in the process of preparing the Books of Memory in the period from 1999 to 2021 constitute the information basis for creating a social portrait of repression victims and comparative analysis. The conceptual apparatus of new social history, prosopographical and historical comparative methods as well as methods of historical informatics are the main methodological tools of the research. The sources, dynamics and stages of the intake of persons mobilized for labor were determined; the range of nationalities that made up this contingent was identified, age and sex, place of birth, social origin, level of education, party affiliation, employment before mobilization were analyzed as well as causes and level of departure from the camp and mortality rate; the percentage of the arrested and convicted was established; the dynamics of demobilization and release from labor camps was traced. As a result of the study, the specific features of social portrait were revealed depending on the place, time, and production purpose of the camp. The composition of the special contingent of all camps was complex. It was represented by such categories as prisoners, persons mobilized for labor duty, prisoners of war, and internees. Numerically, prisoners and labor armyists predominated. Despite the special status of labor armyists, which was intended to somehow alleviate their situation, all of them were engaged in forced labor in the conditions of the camp regime together with the rest of special contingent. The labor of free employees constituted an insignificant percentage in the construction of industrial facilities and timber harvsting. The article focuses on the reconstruction of the social portrait of the persons mobilized for labor duty in certain labor camps of the Urals. The solution of this problem made it possible to reveal the generalized characteristics of the social portrait of labor armyists as a whole. Main socio-demographic characteristics of this category of special contingent are associated with Russian Germans and practically coincide with the results of the 1939 census. However, a fundamentally important difference is that our observations focus not on the German national minority within the USSR but on Russian Germans as a part of special contingent of forced labor camps. In accordance with this task, generalized characteristics of the persons mobilized for labor duty were revealed. The significance of the study is determined by the introduction into the historiographical circulation of prosopographical databases that were combined on the basis of comparative analysis.
