Abstract

In this non-equivalent control group, non-synchronized study, we assessed the effects of an education-counseling program for young prehypertensive adults. We included 40 and 47 prehypertensive individuals in the experimental and control groups, respectively. A structured questionnaire (pretest) was used to assess prehypertension-related knowledge, attitudes, health-promoting behavior, and self-efficacy. The experimental group underwent the 8-week program, while the control group received basic prehypertension and self-management education. Subsequently, blood pressure (BP) was measured, and prehypertension-related knowledge, attitudes, health-promoting behavior, and self-efficacy were evaluated using a questionnaire (posttest). There were significant intergroup differences in knowledge (t = 3.04, p =.003), attitudes (t = 6.41, p <.001), behavior (t = 11.60, p <.001), self-efficacy (t = 11.76, p <.001), and systolic BP (t = −5.49, p <.001); however, diastolic BP was not significantly different (t = −0.73, p =.473). Our findings demonstrated that the program is effective in improving knowledge, attitudes, behavior, self-efficacy, and systolic BP. Therefore, it can be used to prevent progression to hypertension. Abstract

Objective To investigate if the extent of lumbar segmental motion is correlated with the recovery process in the form of pain intensity in patients with acute single level lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Methods A retrospective review of medical records was performed on patients presented with acute low back pain from January 2011 to December 2017. With prerequisites of undergoing both lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging and functional radiography, patients with etiologies other than single level LDH were excluded. A total of 46 patients were selected, including 27 patients with disc herniation at L4-5 level and 19 patients at L5-S1 level. Pearson correlation analysis of pain intensity against segmental range of motion (sROM) and percentage of sROM of each lumbar segment was performed at the initial evaluation point and follow-ups. Abstract

A current-integration-based differential NAND-structured physically unclonable function (PUF) with 20F2 area per bit is proposed for low-cost IoT security. Current integration scheme with a capacitor is adopted to generate a response bit by comparing the delay of capacitor charging through pair of selected MOSFET transistors. For area-efficient implementation, minimum-sized MOSFETs are selected from NAND-flash-like array structure. By operating selected MOSFET pairs in moderate inversion mode, higher sensitivity to threshold voltage ($V_{\mathrm {th}}$) variation, and hence more stable response generation, is achieved while keeping it faster than weak inversion operation. A stabilization scheme based on current integration is proposed by discarding or remapping the transistor pairs that generate small charging delay difference. The proposed current-integration-based differential NAND-structured PUF (CI NAND-PUF) achieved high $V/T$ variation tolerance of 0.145%/0.1 V and 0.120%/10 °C while limiting 20F2/bit area for 1-bit random response generation. With the proposed stabilization scheme, up to $11\times $ and $7.7\times $ BER improvement is achieved for trimming and remapping, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

187. Factor Structure of the PANAS With Bayesian Structural Equation Modeling in a Chinese Sample.

Abstract

The Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) is the most widely used self-report instrument for assessing affect. However, there are inconsistent findings regarding the factor structure of the PANAS. In this study, we applied Bayesian structural equation modeling (BSEM) to investigate the structure of the PANAS using data from a sample of 893 Chinese middle and high school students. Four models, the orthogonal two-, the oblique two-, the three-, and the bi-factor models were tested with prior specifications including approximately zero cross-loadings and residual covariances. The results indicated that the orthogonal two-factor model specified with informative priors for both cross-loadings and residual correlations has the best model fit. Confirmatory factor analysis with the maximum likelihood estimator (ML-CFA) based on modifications from BSEM analysis showed improved model fit compared to ML-CFA based on frequentist analysis, which is the evidence for the merit of BSEM for addressing misspecifications. 195. Efficient visible light-induced H2production by g-C3N4/NiFe Prussian blue composites

Abstract

Hydrogen (H2) produced via photocatalytic water splitting shows great potential as a renewable alternative to fossil fuels, as it uses clean and renewable resources (water and solar light). However, low efficiency remains a significant challenge for this technology. In this study, we synthesized novel graphitic carbon nitride (GCN)–Prussian blue analog (PBA) heterostructure composites using suitable PBAs for photocatalytic reactions, and explored their application in visible-light-induced H2production. GCN-PBA heterostructure composites were synthesized using PBAs containing Ni, Co, and Fe, and their photocatalytic activities under visible light irradiation were compared. The visible-light absorption characteristics and H2production efficiency of the GCN-PBA composites were characterized. The GCN-NiFe heterostructure composite showed excellent visible-light-induced H2production efficiency, indicating effective charge separation and transfer characteristics that enhanced the photocatalytic activity of GCN. These findings contribute to the development of efficient photocatalytic materials for solar H2production, thereby contributing to the advancement of renewable energy technologies.

197. Automatic Syntactic Processing in Agrammatic Aphasia: The Effect of Grammatical Violations

Abstract

This study aimed to examine syntactic processing in agrammatic aphasia. We hypothesized that agrammatic individuals’ automatic syntactic processing would be preserved, as measured by word monitoring task, and their knowledge of syntactic constraints would be impaired, as measured by sentence judgment task, and their performance would vary by type of syntactic violation. The study found that the sentence processing in agrammatism differed based on the type of violation in both tasks: preserved for semantic and tense violations and impaired for word category violations. However, there was no correlation between the two tasks. Furthermore, single-subject analyses showed that automatic syntactic processing for word category violations does not seem to be impaired in aphasia. Based on the findings, this study supports that knowledge of syntactic constraints and automatic processing may be relatively independent abilities which are not related. Findings suggest that individuals with agrammatic aphasia may have preserved automatic syntactic processing.
