High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We report a measurement of the cross section for $K^0_S$ pair production in single-tag two-photon collisions, $\gamma^* \gamma \to K^0_S K^0_S$, for $Q^2$ up to 30 GeV$^2$, where $Q^2$ is the negative of the invariant mass squared of the tagged photon. The measurement covers the kinematic range 1.0 GeV < W < 2.6 GeV and $|\cos \theta^*| < 1.0$ for the total energy and kaon scattering angle, respectively, in the $\gamma^* \gamma$ center-of-mass system. These results are based on a data sample of 759 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. For the first time, the transition form factor of the $f_2'(1525)$ meson is measured separately for the helicity-0, -1, and -2 components and also compared with theoretical calculations. Finally, the partial decay widths of the $\chi_{c0}$ and $\chi_{c2}$ mesons are measured as a function of $Q^2$., Comment: 22 pages, 18 figures, 7 tables, Belle Preprint 2017-25, KEK Preprint 2017-36, Submitted to Physical Review D

The COSINE-100 dark matter search experiment has started taking physics data with the goal of performing an independent measurement of the annual modulation signal observed by DAMA/LIBRA. A muon detector was constructed by using plastic scintillator panels in the outermost layer of the shield surrounding the COSINE-100 detector. It is used to detect cosmic ray muons in order to understand the impact of the muon annual modulation on dark matter analysis. Assembly and initial performance test of each module have been performed at a ground laboratory. The installation of the detector in Yangyang Underground Laboratory (Y2L) was completed in the summer of 2016. Using three months of data, the muon underground flux was measured to be 328 $\pm$ 1(stat.)$\pm$ 10(syst.) muons/m$^2$/day. In this report, the assembly of the muon detector and the results from the analysis are presented., Comment: 11 pages, 19 figures

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
Using a data sample of 980 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data taken with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we report the results of a study of the decays of the $\Omega_c^0$ charmed baryon into hadronic final states. We report the most precise measurements to date of the relative branching fractions of the $\Omega_c^0$ into $\Omega^-\pi^+\pi^0$, $\Omega^-\pi^+\pi^-\pi^+$, $\Xi^-K^-\pi^+\pi^+$, and $\Xi^0K^-\pi^+$, as well as the first measurements of the branching fractions of the $\Omega_c^0$ into $\Xi^-\bar{K}^0\pi^+$, $\Xi^0\bar{K}^0$, and $\Lambda \bar{K}^0\bar{K}^0$, all with respect to the $\Omega^-\pi^+$ decay. In addition, we investigate the resonant substructure of these modes. Finally, we present a limit on the branching fraction for the decay $\Omega_c^0\to\Sigma^+K^-K^-\pi^+$.

We search for $CP$ violation in the charged charm meson decay $D^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{0}$, based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $\rm 921~fb^{-1}$ collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB $e^{+}e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. The measured $CP$ violating asymmetry is $[+2.31\pm1.24({\rm stat})\pm0.23({\rm syst})]\%$, which is consistent with the standard model prediction and has a significantly improved precision compared to previous results., Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We report the first observation of the polarization of $\Lambda/\bar{\Lambda}$ hyperons transverse to its production plane in $e^+e^-$ annihilation. We observe a significant polarization that rises with the fractional energy carried by the hyperon as well as its transverse momentum. To define the production plane, we use the direction of the hyperon momentum together with either the thrust axis in the event or the momentum vector of a hadron in the opposite hemisphere. Furthermore, we investigate the contributions to the hyperon polarization from the feed-down from $\Sigma^0/\bar{\Sigma}^0$ and $\Lambda_c^{\pm}$ decays. This measurement uses a dataset of 800.4\~fb$^{-1}$ collected by the Belle experiment at or near a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV., Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We report results on the studies of the $e^+e^-\to B_s^{(*)}\bar{B}_s^{(*)}$ processes. The results are based on a $121.4$ fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected with the Belle detector at the center-of-mass energy near the $\Upsilon(10860)$ peak and $16.4$ fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at 19 energy points in the range from 10.77 to 11.02 GeV. We observe a clear $e^+e^-\to\Upsilon(10860)\to B_s^{(*)}\bar{B}_s^{(*)}$ signal, with no statistically significant signal of $e^+e^-\to \Upsilon(11020)\to B_s^{(*)}\bar{B}_s^{(*)}$. The relative production ratio of $B_s^*\bar{B}_s^*$, $B_s\bar{B}_s^{*}$, and $B_s\bar{B}_s$ final states at $\sqrt{s}=10.866$ GeV is measured to be $7:$ $0.856\pm0.106(stat.)\pm0.053(syst.):$ $0.645\pm0.094(stat.)^{+0.030}_{-0.033}(syst.)$. An angular analysis of the $B_s^*\bar{B}_s^*$ final state produced at the $\Upsilon(10860)$ peak is also performed., Comment: 22 page, 6 figures

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We present the first measurement of the Michel parameters $\bar{\eta}$ and $\xi\kappa$ in the radiative leptonic decay of the $\tau$ lepton using 703 f$\mathrm{b}^{-1}$ of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. The Michel parameters are measured by an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the kinematic information of $e^+e^-\rightarrow\tau^+\tau^-\rightarrow (\pi^+\pi^0 \bar{\nu})(l^-\nu\bar{\nu}\gamma)$ $(l=e$ or $\mu)$. The preliminary values of the measured Michel parameters are $\bar{\eta} = -2.0 \pm 1.5 \pm 0.8$ and $\xi\kappa = 0.6 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.2$, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic.

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We report a measurement of the time-integrated $CP$ asymmetry in the neutral charm meson decay $D^0 \to K^0_S K^0_S$ using 921~fb$^{-1}$ data collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ and $\Upsilon(5S)$ resonances with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The observed asymmetry is $$ A_{CP}(D^0 \to K^0_S K^0_S) = (-0.02 \pm 1.53 \pm 0.17) \%, $$ where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This latter uncertainty is dominated by the error of the normalisation channel. The result is consistent with Standard Model expectations and improves the uncertainty with respect to previous measurement of this quantity by more than a factor of three., Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures, ICHEP 2016

We report a search for $B^{0}\to \eta \eta $ with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $698 \,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ containing $753 \times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The branching fraction is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(B^{0} \to \eta \eta ) = (7.6^{+2.7 +1.4}_{-2.3 -1.6}) \times 10^{-7}$ at the level of 3.3 standard deviations above zero, which provides the first evidence for the decay $B^{0} \to \eta \eta$., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, ICHEP 2016

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We report the first measurement of the $\tau$ lepton polarization in the decay ${\bar B} \rightarrow D^* \tau^- {\bar\nu_{\tau}}$ as well as a new measurement of the ratio of the branching fractions $R(D^{*}) = \mathcal{B}({\bar B} \rightarrow D^* \tau^- {\bar\nu_{\tau}}) / \mathcal{B}({\bar B} \rightarrow D^* \ell^- {\bar\nu_{\ell}})$, where $\ell^-$ denotes an electron or a muon, with the decays $\tau^- \rightarrow \pi^- \nu_{\tau}$ and $\tau^- \rightarrow \rho^- \nu_{\tau}$. We use the full data sample of $772 \times 10^6$ $B{\bar B}$ pairs accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider. Our preliminary results, $R(D^*) = 0.276 \pm 0.034{\rm (stat.)} ^{+0.029} _{-0.026}{\rm (syst.)}$ and $P_{\tau} = -0.44 \pm 0.47 {\rm (stat.)} ^{+0.20} _{-0.17} {\rm (syst.)}$, are consistent with the theoretical predictions of the Standard Model within $0.6$ standard deviation., Comment: 31 pages, 6 figures, ICHEP 2016

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We report a study of radiative decays of \chi_{bJ}(1P)(J=0,1,2) mesons into 74 hadronic final states comprising charged and neutral pions, kaons, protons; out of these, 41 modes are observed with at least 5 standard deviation significance. Our measurements not only improve the previous measurements by the CLEO Collaboration but also lead to first observations in many new modes. The large sample allows us to probe the total decay width of the \chi_{b0}(1P). In the absence of a statistically significant result, a 90% confidence-level upper limit is set on the width at \Gamma_{total}< 2.4 MeV. Our results are based on 24.7 fb^{-1} of e+e- collision data recorded by the Belle detector at the \Upsilon(2S) resonance, corresponding to (157.8\pm3.6)\times10^6 \Upsilon(2S) decays.

We present a measurement of angular observables, $P_4'$, $P_5'$, $P_6'$, $P_8'$, in the decay $B^0 \to K^\ast(892)^0 \ell^+ \ell^-$, where $\ell^+\ell^-$ is either $e^+e^-$ or $\mu^+\mu^-$. The analysis is performed on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $711~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ containing $772\times 10^{6}$ $B\bar B$ pairs, collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider KEKB. Four angular observables, $P_{4,5,6,8}'$ are extracted in five bins of the invariant mass squared of the lepton system, $q^2$. We compare our results for $P_{4,5,6,8}'$ with Standard Model predictions including the $q^2$ region in which the LHCb collaboration reported the so-called $P_5'$ anomaly., Comment: Conference paper for LHC Ski 2016. High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We report a measurement of ratio ${\cal R}(D^*) = {\cal B}(\bar{B}^0 \rightarrow D^{*+} \tau^- \bar{\nu}_{\tau})/{\cal B}(\bar{B}^0 \rightarrow D^{*+} \ell^- \bar{\nu}_{\ell})$, where $\ell$ denotes an electron or a muon. The results are based on a data sample containing $772\times10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs recorded at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider. We select a sample of $B^0 \bar{B}^0$ pairs by reconstructing both $B$ mesons in semileptonic decays to $D^{*\mp} \ell^{\pm}$. We measure ${\cal R}(D^*)= 0.302 \pm 0.030({\rm stat)} \pm 0.011({\rm syst)}$, which is within $1.6 \sigma$ of the Standard Model theoretical expectation, where $\sigma$ is the standard deviation including systematic uncertainties., Comment: 12pages, 13 figures, Moriond EW 2016

Using the entire Belle data sample of 980 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collisions, we present the results of a study of excited $\Omega_c$ charmed baryons in the decay mode $\Xi_c^+K^-$. We show confirmation of four of the five narrow states reported by the LHCb Collaboration: the $\Omega_c(3000)$ , $\Omega_c(3050)$, $\Omega_c(3066)$, and $\Omega_c(3090)$.

We search for the $J^{PC}=0^{--}$ and $1^{+-}$ light tetraquark states with masses up to 2.46~GeV/$c^2$ in $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$ decays with data samples of $(102\pm 2)$ million and $(158\pm 4)$ million events, respectively, collected with the Belle detector. No significant signals are observed in any of the studied production modes, and 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their branching fractions in $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$ decays are obtained. The inclusive branching fractions of the $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$ decays into final states with $f_1(1285)$ are measured to be ${\cal B}(\Upsilon(1S)\to f_1(1285)+anything)=(46\pm28({\rm stat.})\pm13({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(\Upsilon(2S)\to f_1(1285)+anything)=(22\pm15({\rm stat.})\pm6.3({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$. The measured $\chi_{b2} \to J/\psi + anything$ branching fraction is measured to be $(1.50\pm0.34({\rm stat.})\pm0.22({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-3}$, and 90\% C.L. upper limits for the $\chi_{b0,b1} \to J/\psi + anything$ branching fractions are found to be $2.3\times 10^{-3}$ and $1.1\times 10^{-3}$, respectively. For ${\cal B}(\chi_{b1} \to \omega + anything)$, the branching fraction is measured to be $(4.9\pm1.3({\rm stat.})\pm0.6({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-2}$. %($<3.68\times 10^{-2}$ at 90\% C.L.). All results reported here are the first measurements for these modes., Comment: 19 pages, 15 figures; a few minor text corrections; accepted for publication as a regular article in Physical Review D

COSINE is a dark matter search experiment based on an array of low background NaI(Tl) crystals located at the Yangyang underground laboratory. The assembly of COSINE-100 was completed in the summer of 2016 and the detector is currently collecting physics quality data aimed at reproducing the DAMA/LIBRA experiment that reported an annual modulation signal. Stable operation has been achieved and will continue for at least two years. Here, we describe the design of COSINE-100, including the shielding arrangement, the configuration of the NaI(Tl) crystal detection elements, the veto systems, and the associated operational systems, and we show the current performance of the experiment., Comment: 19 pages, 25 figures, EPJC accepted

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
We present a detailed measurement of charged two-pion correlation functions in 0%-30% centrality $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV Au$+$Au collisions by the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The data are well described by Bose-Einstein correlation functions stemming from L\'evy-stable source distributions. Using a fine transverse momentum binning, we extract the correlation strength parameter $\lambda$, the L\'evy index of stability $\alpha$ and the L\'evy length scale parameter $R$ as a function of average transverse mass of the pair $m_T$. We find that the positively and the negatively charged pion pairs yield consistent results, and their correlation functions are represented, within uncertainties, by the same L\'evy-stable source functions. The $\lambda(m_T)$ measurements indicate a decrease of the strength of the correlations at low $m_T$. The L\'evy length scale parameter $R(m_T)$ decreases with increasing $m_T$, following a hydrodynamically predicted type of scaling behavior. The values of the L\'evy index of stability $\alpha$ are found to be significantly lower than the Gaussian case of $\alpha=2$, but also significantly larger than the conjectured value that may characterize the critical point of a second-order quark-hadron phase transition., Comment: 448 authors, 25 pages, 11 figures, 4 tables, 2010 data. v3 is version accepted for publication in Phys. TlSr2I5: Eu2+ is a newly discovered scintillator and show promising scintillation properties for X- and {\gamma}-rays spectroscopy applications. Two zones vertical Bridgman technique is used for the growth of this scintillator. Luminescence properties of the grown crystals are measured under X-ray excitation at room temperature. Pure and Eu2+ doped crystals contained broad emission bands between 445-670 nm peaking at 528 nm and 430-600 nm peaking at 463 nm, respectively. Energy resolution, light yield and decay time profiles are studied under 662 keV {\gamma}-ray excitation using 137Cs radioactive source. Energy resolution of 4.2 % (FWHM) is obtained for 3 mol% Eu2+ doped crystal. For the same sample, light yield of 70,000 ph/MeV is also obtained. Three and two decay constants are observed for the pure and Eu2+ doped samples, respectively at room temperature. Effective Z-number and density are found to be 61 and 5.30 g/cm3, respectively.

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We measure the inclusive production cross sections of hyperons and charmed baryons from $e^+e^-$ annihilation using a 800 fb$^{-1}$ data sample taken near the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The feed-down contributions from heavy particles are subtracted using our data, and the direct production cross sections are presented for the first time. The production cross sections divided by the number of spin states for $S=-1$ hyperons follow an exponential function with a single slope parameter except for the $\Sigma(1385)^+$ resonance. Suppression for $\Sigma(1385)^+$ and $\Xi(1530)^0$ hyperons is observed. Among the production cross sections of charmed baryons, a factor of three difference for $\Lambda_c^+$ states over $\Sigma_c$ states is observed. This observation suggests a diquark structure for these baryons.

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We report a study of the decay $D^0 \to K^0_S K^0_S$ using 921~fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at or near the $\Upsilon(4S)$ and $\Upsilon(5S)$ resonances with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The measured time-integrated $CP$ asymmetry is $ A_{CP}(D^0 \to K^0_S K^0_S) = (-0.02 \pm 1.53 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.17) \%$, and the branching fraction is $\mathcal{B} (D^{0}\rightarrow K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0})$ = (1.321 $\pm$ 0.023 $\pm$ 0.036 $\pm$ 0.044) $\times$ 10$^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is due to the normalization mode ($D^0 \to K_S^0 \pi^0$). These results are significantly more precise than previous measurements available for this mode. The $A_{CP}$ measurement is consistent with the standard model expectation., Comment: 7 pages,1 figure, Submitted to PRL

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We report a study of the charmless hadronic decay of the charged $B$ meson to the three-body final state $K^+ K^- \pi^+$. The results are based on a data sample that contains $772\times10^6$ $B \bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The measured inclusive branching fraction and the direct $CP$ asymmetry are $(5.38\pm0.40\pm0.35)\times 10^{-6}$ and $-0.170\pm0.073\pm0.017$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The $K^{+}K^{-}$ invariant mass distribution of the signal candidates shows an excess in the region below $1.5$ GeV/$c^2$, which is consistent with the previous studies from BaBar and LHCb. In addition, strong evidence of a large direct $CP$ asymmetry is found in the $K^{+}K^{-}$ low-invariant-mass region., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We measure the branching fraction and $CP$ violation asymmetry in the decay $B^{0}\to \pi^{0}\pi^{0}$, using a data sample of $752\times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The obtained branching fraction and direct $CP$ asymmetry are $ \mathcal{B}(B\to \pi^{0}\pi^{0}) = [1.31 \pm 0.19~ \text{(stat.)} \pm 0.19~ \text{(syst.)}] \times 10^{-6}$ and $ A_{CP} = +0.14 \pm 0.36~ \text{(stat.)} \pm 0.10~ \text{(syst.)}, $ respectively. The signal significance, including the systematic uncertainty, is 6.4 standard deviations. We combine these results with Belle's earlier measurements of $B^{0}\to \pi^{+} \pi^{-}$ and $B^{\pm} \to \pi^{\pm} \pi^{0}$ to exclude the $CP$-violating parameter $\phi_{2}$ from the range $15.5^{\circ} < \phi_{2} < 75.0^{\circ}$ at 95\% confidence level., Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures

We perform a full amplitude analysis of the process $e^+ e^- \rightarrow J/\psi D \bar{D}$, where $D$ refers to either $D^0$ or $D^+$. A new charmoniumlike state $X^*(3860)$ that decays to $D \bar{D}$ is observed with a significance of $6.5\sigma$. Its mass is ($3862^{+26}_{-32}{}^{+40}_{-13}$) MeV/$c^2$ and width is ($201^{+154}_{-67}{}^{+88}_{-82}$) MeV. The $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ hypothesis is favored over the $2^{++}$ hypothesis at the level of $2.5\sigma$. The analysis is based on the 980 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider KEKB., Comment: 17 pages, 11 figures

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We present the results of a search for the rare decays $B\to h\nu\overline{\nu}$, where $h$ stands for $K^+,\:K^0_{\mathrm{S}},\:K^{\ast +},\:K^{\ast 0},\:\pi^+,\:\pi^0,\:\rho^+$ and $\rho^{0}$. The results are obtained with $772\times10^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider. We reconstruct one $B$ meson in a semileptonic decay and require a single $h$ meson but nothing else on the signal side. We observe no significant signal and set upper limits on the branching fractions. The limits set on the $B\to K^0_{\mathrm{S}}\nu\overline{\nu}$, $B^0\to K^{*0}\nu\overline{\nu}$, $B\to \pi^+\nu\overline{\nu}$, $B^0\to\pi^0\nu\overline{\nu}$, $B^+\to\rho^+\nu\overline{\nu}$, and $B^0\to\rho^0\nu\overline{\nu}$ channels are the world's most stringent., Comment: Submitted to PRD

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We present a measurement of angular observables and a test of lepton flavor universality in the $B\to K^\ast \ell^+\ell^-$ decay, where $\ell$ is either $e$ or $\mu$. The result is consistent with Standard Model (SM) expectations, where the largest discrepancy from a SM prediction is observed in the muon modes with a local significance of $2.6\sigma$., Comment: Submitted to PRL

Physics - Instrumentation and Detectors - Abstract
In this study we present our preliminary report on the scintillation properties of new Ce-doped Tl2LaBr5 single crystal. Two zones vertical Bridgman technique is used for the growth of this compound. Pure and Ce-doped samples showed maximum emission peaks at 435 nm and 415 nm, respectively. Best light yield of 43,000+-4300 ph/MeV with 6.3% (FWHM) energy resolution is obtained for 5% Ce-doped sample under {\gamma}-ray excitation. Single exponential decay time constant of 25 ns is observed for 5% Ce doped sample. Effective Z-number is found to be 67, therefore efficient detection of X- and {\gamma}-ray will be possible. Preliminary results revealed that this compound will be an ideal candidate for the medical imaging techniques. Further investigations are under way for the determination of optimized conditions of this compound.

Condensed Matter - Mesoscale and Nanoscale Physics ,Condensed Matter - Soft Condensed Matter - Abstract
Water, when confined at the nanoscale acquires extraordinary transport properties. And yet there is no direct experimental evidence of these properties at nanoscale resolution. Here, by using 2D NMR diffusion-relaxation (D-T2) and spin-lattice - spin-spin relaxation (T1-T2) spectroscopy, we succeeded to resolve at the nanoscale water diffusion in single and double-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT/DWCNT). In SWCNTs, spectra display the characteristic shape of uniform water diffusion restricted in one dimension. Remarkably, in DWCNTs water is shown to split into two axial components with the inner one acquiring unusual flow properties: high fragility, ultrafast self-diffusion coefficient, and "rigid" molecular environment, revealing a stratified cooperative motion mechanism to underlie fast diffusion in water saturated CNTs., Comment: Article: 6 pages, 5 figures. The AMoRE (Advanced Mo-based Rare process Experiment) aims to study not only the neutrino-less double beta (0νββ) decay but also the two-neutrino double beta (2νββ) decay using a cryogenic technique and consists of enriched 100Mo-based scintillating crystal detectors. The study of the 2νββ decay from 100Mo to excited states of 100Ru helps to understand nuclear matrix elements and nuclear models as well as to search for the bosonic (symmetric) fraction of the neutrino wave function. In AMoRE-I, we can select the double-coincidence events to suppress background level successfully. The half-life of the 2νββ decay of 100Mo to 0 1 + state of 100Ru is measured to be {6.55±0.67 (stat)±0.45 (syst)} ×1020 year. The AMoRE-II, a large scale successor of the AMoRE-I, is under construction at 1000 m deep Yemilab, underground laboratory, aiming for a tonne-year exposure of 100Mo. A simulation has been initiated to measure the beta energy of the 0 1 + transition in triple-coincidence events, and to verify events from the decay to the suppressed 2 1 + excited state. Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Two-pion interferometry measurements are used to extract the Gaussian radii $R_{{\rm out}}$, $R_{{\rm side}}$, and $R_{{\rm long}}$, of the pion emission sources produced in Cu$+$Cu and Au$+$Au collisions at several beam collision energies $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}$ at PHENIX. The extracted radii, which are compared to recent STAR and ALICE data, show characteristic scaling patterns as a function of the initial transverse size $\bar{R}$ of the collision systems and the transverse mass $m_T$ of the emitted pion pairs, consistent with hydrodynamiclike expansion. Specific combinations of the three-dimensional radii that are sensitive to the medium expansion velocity and lifetime, and the pion emission time duration show nonmonotonic $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}$ dependencies. The nonmonotonic behaviors exhibited by these quantities point to a softening of the equation of state that may coincide with the critical end point in the phase diagram for nuclear matter., Comment: 622 authors, 8 pages, 5 figures, data from 2005, 2007, and 2010. We report the first search for the $J^{PC}=0^{--}$ glueball in $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$ decays with data samples of $(102\pm2)$ million and $(158\pm4)$ million events, respectively, collected with the Belle detector. No significant signals are observed in any of the proposed production modes, and the 90\% credibility level upper limits on their branching fractions in $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$ decays are obtained. The inclusive branching fractions of the $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$ decays into final states with a $\chi_{c1}$ are measured to be $\BR(\Upsilon(1S)\to \chi_{c1}+ anything) = (1.90\pm 0.43(stat.)\pm 0.14(syst.))\times 10^{-4}$ with an improved precision over prior measurements and $\BR(\Upsilon(2S)\to \chi_{c1}+ anything) = (2.24\pm 0.44(stat.)\pm 0.20(syst.))\times 10^{-4}$ for the first time., Comment: 19 pages, 17 figures, Fig.10b was polished, but all the results unchanged. High Energy Physics - Experiment ,High Energy Physics - Phenomenology ,Physics - Instrumentation and Detectors - Abstract
Hyper-Kamiokande consists of two identical water-Cherenkov detectors of total 520~kt with the first one in Japan at 295~km from the J-PARC neutrino beam with 2.5$^{\textrm{o}}$ Off-Axis Angles (OAAs), and the second one possibly in Korea in a later stage. Having the second detector in Korea would benefit almost all areas of neutrino oscillation physics mainly due to longer baselines. There are several candidate sites in Korea with baselines of 1,000$\sim$1,300~km and OAAs of 1$^{\textrm{o}}$$\sim$3$^{\textrm{o}}$. We conducted sensitivity studies on neutrino oscillation physics for a second detector, either in Japan (JD $\times$ 2) or Korea (JD + KD) and compared the results with a single detector in Japan. Leptonic CP violation sensitivity is improved especially when the CP is non-maximally violated. The larger matter effect at Korean candidate sites significantly enhances sensitivities to non-standard interactions of neutrinos and mass ordering determination. Current studies indicate the best sensitivity is obtained at Mt. Bisul (1,088~km baseline, $1.3^\circ$ OAA). Thanks to a larger (1,000~m) overburden than the first detector site, clear improvements to sensitivities for solar and supernova relic neutrino searches are expected., Comment: 102 pages, 49 figures. The fast neutron rate is measured at the site of NEOS experiment, a short baseline neutrino experiment located in a tendon gallery of a commercial nuclear power plant, using a 0.78-liter liquid scintillator detector. A pulse shape discrimination technique is used to identify neutron signals. The measurements are performed during the nuclear reactor-on and off periods and found to be ~20 per day for both periods. The fast neutron rate is also measured at an overground site with a negligible overburden and is found to be ~100 times higher than that at the NEOS experiment site., Comment: To be submitted to JKPS

High Energy Physics - Experiment ,Physics - Instrumentation and Detectors - Abstract
An experiment to search for light sterile neutrinos was conducted at a reactor with a thermal power of 2.8 GW located at the Hanbit nuclear power complex. The search was done with a detector consisting of a ton of Gd-loaded liquid scintillator in a tendon gallery approximately 24 m from the reactor core. The measured antineutrino event rate is 1976 per day with a signal to background ratio of about 22. The shape of the antineutrino energy spectrum obtained from eight-month data-taking period is compared with a hypothesis of oscillations due to active-sterile antineutrino mixing. It is found to be consistent with no oscillation. An excess around 5 MeV prompt energy range is observed as seen in existing longer baseline experiments. The parameter space of $\sin^{2}2\theta_{14}$ down below 0.1 for $\Delta m^{2}_{41}$ ranging from 0.2 eV$^{2}$ to 2.3 eV$^{2}$ and the optimum point for the previously reported reactor antineutrino anomaly are excluded with a confidence level higher than 90%., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures. 1 supplemental material (Fig. S1).
