We present spectroscopic and photometric observations of 17 dwarf-nova superoutbursts obtained by KOOLS-IFU mounted on the 3.8 m telescope Seimei at Okayama Observatory of Kyoto University and through VSNET collaboration. Our spectroscopic observations for six outbursts were performed within 1 d from their optical peak. 11 objects (TCP J00590972+3438357. ASASSN-19ado, TCP J06073081-0101501, ZTF20aavnpug, ASASSN-19ady, MASTER OT J061642.05+435617.9, TCP J20034647+1335125, ASASSN-20kv, ASASSN-20kw, MASTER OT J213908.79+161240.2, and ASASSN-20mf) were previously unknown systems, and our observations enabled quick classification of their transient type. These results illustrate that Seimei telescope has the capability to conduct quick follow-up observations of unknown transients. Our photometric observations yielded that 11 objects are WZ Sge-type dwarf novae and their candidates, and the other six objects are SU UMa-type dwarf novae and their candidates. The He II 4686\AA~ emission line was clearly detected among ASASSN-19ado, TCP J06073081-0101501 and MASTER OT J213908.79+161240.2, whose association with a spiral arm structure in an accretion disk has been suggested in the previous studies. Flat-band models have been of particular interest from both fundamental aspects and realization in materials. Beyond the canonical examples such as Lieb lattices and line graphs, a variety of tight-binding models are found to possess flat bands. However, analytical treatment of dispersion relations is limited, especially when there are multiple flat bands with different energies. In this paper, we present how to determine flat-band energies and wave functions in tight-binding models on decorated diamond and pyrochlore lattices in generic dimensions $D \geq 2$. For two and three dimensions, such lattice structures are relevant to various organic and inorganic materials, and thus our method will be useful to analyze the band structures of these materials., Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures

Nonlinear Drude weight (NLDW) is a new concept which characterizes the nonlinear transport in quantum many-body systems. We investigate these weights for the spin-1/2 XXZ chain in the critical regime. The effects of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and an external magnetic field are also studied. Solving the Bethe equations numerically, we obtain these weights for very large system sizes and identify parameter regimes where the weights diverge in the thermodynamic limit. These divergences appear in all the orders studied in this paper and can be regarded as a universal feature of the NLDWs. We study the origin of these divergences and reveal that they result from $\textit{nonanalytic}$ finite-size corrections to the ground state energy. Furthermore, we compute closed-form expressions for several weights in the thermodynamic limit and find excellent agreement with the numerical results., Comment: 6+15 pages, 2+2 figures

For a nonsingular projective curve $C$ of genus 3 defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p > 2$, we give a necessary and sufficient condition that the Jacobian variety $J(C)$ has a decomposed Richelot isogeny outgoing from it and we determine the structures of decomposed ones., Comment: 17 pages. We propose a new class of tight-binding systems of interacting bosons with a flat band, which are exactly solvable in the sense that one can explicitly write down the unique ground state. The ground state is expressed in terms of local creation operators, and apparently resembles that of a Mott insulator. Based on an exact representation in terms of a classical loop-gas model, we conjecture that the ground state may exhibit quasi Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) or genuine BEC in dimensions two and three or higher, respectively, still keeping Mott insulator-like character. Our Monte Carlo simulation of the loop-gas model strongly supports this conjecture, i.e., the ground state undergoes a Kosterlitz-Thouless transition and exhibits quasi BEC in two dimensions., Comment: 14 pages, 13 figures. We study the magnetization process of the $S=1$ Heisenberg model on a two-leg ladder with farther neighbor spin-exchange interaction. We consider the interaction that couples up to the next-nearest neighbor rungs and find an exactly solvable regime where the ground states become product states. The next-nearest neighbor interaction tends to stabilize magnetization plateaus at multiples of 1/6. Kernel methods have been among the most popular techniques in machine learning, where learning tasks are solved using the property of reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS). In this paper, we propose a novel data analysis framework with reproducing kernel Hilbert $C^*$-module (RKHM) and kernel mean embedding (KME) in RKHM. Since RKHM contains richer information than RKHS or vector-valued RKHS (vvRKHS), analysis with RKHM enables us to capture and extract structural properties in such as functional data. We show a branch of theories for RKHM to apply to data analysis, including the representer theorem, and the injectivity and universality of the proposed KME. We also show RKHM generalizes RKHS and vvRKHS. We study the attractive SU($N$) Hubbard model with particle-hole symmetry. The model is defined on a bipartite lattice with the number of sites $N_A$ $(N_B)$ in the $A$ $(B)$ sublattice. We prove three theorems that allow us to identify the basic ground-state properties: the degeneracy, the fermion number, and the SU($N$) quantum number. We also show that the ground state exhibits charge density wave order when $|N_A-N_B|$ is macroscopically large. The theorems hold for a bipartite lattice in any dimension, even without translation invariance., Comment: 14 pages

We present rigorous results for the SU($n$) Fermi-Hubbard models with finite-range hopping in $d$ ($\ge 2$) dimensions. The models are defined on a class of decorated lattices. We first study the models with flat bands at the bottom of the single-particle spectrum and prove that the ground states exhibit SU($n$) ferromagnetism when the number of particles is equal to the number of unit cells. We then perturb the models by adding particular hopping terms and make the bottom bands dispersive. Under the same filling condition, it is proved that the ground states remain SU($n$) ferromagnetic when the bottom bands are sufficiently flat and the Coulomb repulsion is sufficiently large., Comment: 21 pages, 4 figures, v2: references added, comments added, figures updated, several minor revisions, v3: minor revisions

We report on the multi-wavelength photometry of the 2018 superoutburst in EG Cnc. We have detected stage A superhumps and long-lasting late-stage superhumps via the optical photometry and have constrained the binary mass ratio and its possible range. The median value of the mass ratio is 0.048 and the upper limit is 0.057, which still implies that EG Cnc is one of the possible candidates for the period bouncer. This object also showed multiple rebrightenings in this superoutburst, which are the same as those in its previous superoutburst in 1996--1997 despite the difference in the main superoutburst. This would represent that the rebrightening type is inherent to each object and is independent of the initial disk mass at the beginning of superoutbursts. We also found that $B-I$ and $J-K_{\rm S}$ colors were unusually red just before the rebrightening phase and became bluer during the quiescence between rebrightenings, which would mean that the low-temperature mass reservoir at the outermost disk accreted with time after the main superoutburst. Also, the ultraviolet flux was sensitive to rebrightenings as well as the optical flux, and the $U-B$ color became redder during the rebrightening phase, which would indicate that the inner disk became cooler when this object repeated rebrightenings. We consider the multicanonical systems $\vert mK_{S}\vert$ of quasi-elliptic surfaces with Kodaira dimension $1$ in characteristic 2. We show that for any $m \geq 6$ $\vert mK_{S}\vert$ gives the structure of quasi-elliptic fiber space, and 6 is the best possible number to give the structure for any such surfaces., Comment: 10 pages

Since the theoretical prediction and experimental observation of the thermal Hall effect of magnons, a variety of novel phenomena that may occur in magnonic systems have been proposed. In this paper, we review the recent advances in the study of topological phases of magnon Bogoliubov-de Gennes (BdG) systems. After giving an overview of the previous works on electronic topological insulators and the thermal Hall effect of magnons, we provide the necessary background for bosonic BdG systems, with a particular emphasis on their non-Hermiticity arising from the diagonalization of the BdG Hamiltonian. After that, we introduce the definitions of $ \mathbb{Z}_2 $ topological invariants for bosonic systems with pseudo-time-reversal symmetry, which ensures the existence of bosonic counterparts of "Kramers pairs". Because of the intrinsic non-Hermiticity of the bosonic BdG systems, these topological invariants have to be defined in terms of the bosonic Berry connection and curvature. We then introduce theoretical models that can be thought of as magnonic analogues of two- and three-dimensional topological insulators in class AII. We demonstrate analytically and numerically that the $ \mathbb{Z}_2 $ topological invariants precisely characterize the presence of gapless edge/surface states. We also predict that bilayer CrI$_3$ with a particular stacking would be an ideal candidate for realization of a two-dimensional magnon system characterized by a nontrivial $ \mathbb{Z}_2 $ topological invariant. For three-dimensional topological magnon systems, the thermal Hall effect of magnons is expected to occur when a magnetic field is applied to the surface.

We study the quantum Ising chain with boundary dephasing. By doubling the Hilbert space, the model is mapped to the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model with imaginary chemical potential at the edges. We show analytically and numerically that the Liouvillian gap, i.e., the inverse relaxation time of the model, scales with the system size $ N $ as $ N^{-3} $., Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures

Despite previous extensive analysis of open quantum systems described by the Lindblad equation, it is unclear whether correlated topological states, such as fractional quantum Hall states, are maintained even in the presence of the jump term. In this paper, we introduce the pseudo-spin Chern number of the Liouvillian which is computed by twisting the boundary conditions only for one of the subspaces of the doubled Hilbert space. The existence of such a topological invariant elucidates that the topological properties remain unchanged even in the presence of the jump term which does not close the gap of the effective non-Hermitian Hamiltonian (obtained by neglecting the jump term). In other words, the topological properties are encoded into an effective non-Hermitian Hamiltonian rather than the full Liouvillian. This is particularly useful when the jump term can be written as a strictly block-upper (-lower) triangular matrix in the doubled Hilbert space, in which case the presence or absence of the jump term does not affect the spectrum of the Liouvillian. With the pseudo-spin Chern number, we address the characterization of fractional quantum Hall states with two-body loss but without gain, elucidating that the topology of the non-Hermitian fractional quantum Hall states is preserved even in the presence of the jump term. This numerical result also supports the use of the non-Hermitian Hamiltonian which significantly reduces the numerical cost. Similar topological invariants can be extended to treat correlated topological states for other spatial dimensions and symmetry (e.g., one-dimensional open quantum systems with inversion symmetry), indicating the high versatility of our approach., Comment: 16 pages, 4figures, (to appear in Phys. We apply Witten's conjugation argument [Nucl. Phys. B 202, 253 (1982)] to spin chains, where it allows us to derive frustration-free systems and their exact ground states from known results. We particularly focus on $\mathbb{Z}_p$-symmetric models, with the Kitaev and Peschel--Emery line of the axial next-nearest neighbour Ising (ANNNI) chain being the simplest examples. The approach allows us to treat two $\mathbb{Z}_3$-invariant frustration-free parafermion chains, recently derived by Iemini et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 118, 170402 (2017)] and Mahyaeh and Ardonne [Phys. Rev. B 98, 245104 (2018)], respectively, in a unified framework. We derive several other frustration-free models and their exact ground states, including $\mathbb{Z}_4$- and $\mathbb{Z}_6$-symmetric generalisations of the frustration-free ANNNI chain.

Binary black hole (BH) central engine description for the unique blazar OJ 287 predicted that the next secondary BH impact-induced bremsstrahlung flare should peak on 2019 July 31. This prediction was based on detailed general relativistic modeling of the secondary BH trajectory around the primary BH and its accretion disk. The expected flare was termed the Eddington flare to commemorate the centennial celebrations of now-famous solar eclipse observations to test general relativity by Sir Arthur Eddington. We analyze the multi-epoch Spitzer observations of the expected flare between 2019 July 31 and 2019 September 6, as well as baseline observations during 2019 February-March. Observed Spitzer flux density variations during the predicted outburst time display a strong similarity with the observed optical pericenter flare from OJ 287 during 2007 September. The predicted flare appears comparable to the 2007 flare after subtracting the expected higher base-level Spitzer flux densities at 3.55 and 4.49 $\mu$m compared to the optical R-band. Comparing the 2019 and 2007 outburst lightcurves and the previously calculated predictions, we find that the Eddington flare arrived within 4 hours of the predicted time. Our Spitzer observations are well consistent with the presence of a nano-Hertz gravitational wave emitting spinning massive binary BH that inspirals along a general relativistic eccentric orbit in OJ 287. Repetitive operations are widely conducted by automatic machines in industry. Periodic disturbances induced by the repetitive operations must be compensated to achieve precise functioning. In this paper, a periodic-disturbance observer (PDOB) based on the disturbance observer (DOB) structure is proposed. The PDOB compensates a periodic disturbance including the fundamental wave and harmonics by using a time delay element. Furthermore, an adaptive PDOB is proposed for the compensation of frequency-varying periodic disturbances. An adaptive notch filter (ANF) is used in the adaptive PDOB to estimate the fundamental frequency of the periodic disturbance. Simulations compare the proposed methods with a repetitive controller (RC) and the DOB. Practical performances are validated in experiments using a multi-axis manipulator. We theoretically demonstrate that interacting symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phases can be realized with ultracold spinful bosonic atoms loaded on the lattices which have a flat band at the bottom of the band structure. Ground states of such systems are not conventional Mott insulators in the sense that the ground states possess not only spin fluctuations but also non-negligible charge fluctuations. The SPT phases in such systems are determined by both spin and charge fluctuations at zero temperature. We find that the many-body ground states of such systems can be exactly obtained in some special cases, and these exact ground states turn out to serve as representative states of the SPT phases. As a concrete example, we demonstrate that spin-1 bosons on a sawtooth chain can be in an SPT phase protected by $\mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$ spin rotation symmetry or time-reversal symmetry, and this SPT phase is a result of spin fluctuations. We also show that spin-3 bosons on a kagome lattice can be in an SPT phase protected by $D_2$ point group symmetry, but this SPT phase is, however, a result of charge fluctuations., Comment: 24 pages, 17 figures

Kernel methods have been among the most popular techniques in machine learning, where learning tasks are solved using the property of reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS). In this paper, we propose a novel data analysis framework with reproducing kernel Hilbert $C^*$-module (RKHM), which is another generalization of RKHS than vector-valued RKHS (vv-RKHS). Analysis with RKHMs enables us to deal with structures among variables more explicitly than vv-RKHS. We show the theoretical validity for the construction of orthonormal systems in Hilbert $C^*$-modules, and derive concrete procedures for orthonormalization in RKHMs with those theoretical properties in numerical computations. Moreover, we apply those to generalize with RKHM kernel principal component analysis and the analysis of dynamical systems with Perron-Frobenius operators. The empirical performance of our methods is also investigated by using synthetic and real-world data.

Castryck, Decru, and Smith used superspecial genus-2 curves and their Richelot isogeny graph for basing genus-2 isogeny cryptography, and recently, Costello and Smith devised an improved isogeny path-finding algorithm in the genus-2 setting. In order to establish a firm ground for the cryptographic construction and analysis, we give a new characterization of {\em decomposed Richelot isogenies} in terms of {\em involutive reduced automorphisms} of genus-2 curves over a finite field, and explicitly count such decomposed (and non-decomposed) Richelot isogenies between {\em superspecial} principally polarized abelian surfaces. As a corollary, we give another algebraic geometric proof of Theorem 2 in the paper of Castryck et al., Comment: 16 pages, the replacement of the paper "Counting superspecial Richelot isogenies and its cryptographic application."

A supervised learning framework has been proposed for the situation where each training data is provided with a complementary label that represents a class to which the pattern does not belong. In the existing literature, complementary-label learning has been studied independently from ordinary-label learning, which assumes that each training data is provided with a label representing the class to which the pattern belongs. However, providing a complementary label should be treated as equivalent to providing the rest of all the labels as the candidates of the one true class. In this paper, we focus on the fact that the loss functions for one-versus-all and pairwise classification corresponding to ordinary-label learning and complementary-label learning satisfy certain additivity and duality, and provide a framework which directly bridge those existing supervised learning frameworks. Further, we derive classification risk and error bound for any loss functions which satisfy additivity and duality.
