151. The symmetry of phase-coherent thermopower oscillations in Andreev interferometers

Abstract

We study the thermopower of diffusive Andreev interferometers, which are hybrid loops with one normal-metal arm and one superconducting arm. The thermopower oscillates as a function of the magnetic flux through the loop with a fundamental period corresponding to one flux quantum $\Phi_0=h/2e$. Unlike the electrical resistance oscillations and the thermal resistance oscillations, which are always symmetric with respect to the magnetic field, the symmetry of the thermopower oscillations can be either symmetric or antisymmetric depending on the geometry of the sample. We also observe that the symmetry of the thermopower oscillations is related to the distribution of the supercurrent between the normal-metal/superconductor interfaces. Abstract

The differential resistance of submicron-size ferromagnet/superconductor interface structures shows asymmetries as a function of the current through the ferromagnet/superconductor interface. These asymmetries are a consequence of spin-polarized electron transport from the ferromagnet to the superconductor, coupled with the Zeeman-splitting of the superconducting quasiparticle density of states. They are sensitive to the orientation of the magnetization of the ferromagnet, as the magnetic field required to spin-split the quasiparticle density of states can be provided by the ferromagnetic element itself., Comment: to appear in the proceedings of the St. Petersburg NATO Conference on Quantum transport, St. Petersburg, August, 2003

Abstract

Ankyrin repeat and suppression-of-cytokine-signaling box (Asb) proteins, a subset of ubiquitin ligase E3, include Asb5 with six ankyrin-repeat domains. Zebrafish harbor two asb5 gene isoforms, asb5a and asb5b. Currently, the effects of asb5 gene inactivation on zebrafish embryonic development and heart function are unknown. Using CRISPR/Cas9, we generated asb5a-knockout zebrafish, revealing no abnormal phenotypes at 48 h post-fertilization (hpf). In situ hybridization showed similar asb5a and asb5b expression patterns, indicating the functional redundancy of these isoforms. Morpholino interference was used to target asb5b in wild-type and asb5a-knockout zebrafish. Knocking down asb5b in the wild-type had no phenotypic impact, but simultaneous asb5b knockdown in asb5a-knockout homozygotes led to severe pericardial cavity enlargement and atrial dilation. RNA-seq and cluster analyses identified significantly enriched cardiac muscle contraction genes in the double-knockout at 48 hpf. Moreover, semi-automatic heartbeat analysis demonstrated significant changes in various heart function indicators. STRING database/Cytoscape analyses confirmed that 11 cardiac-contraction-related hub genes exhibited disrupted expression, with three modules containing these genes potentially regulating cardiac contractile function through calcium ion channels. This study reveals functional redundancy in asb5a and asb5b, with simultaneous knockout significantly impacting zebrafish early heart development and contraction, providing key insights into asb5's mechanism. Abstract

Xinglinpu Bridge was built on the S3801 freeway in 2019 in preparation for the winter Olympics in Beijing, China. It is a cable-stayed steel bridge with pylons in the shape of flower baskets. Using Xinglinpu Bridge as a case study, a systematic approach to the dimensional quality assessment of complex bridges using a combination of three-dimensional (3D) point clouds obtained by terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) surveys is proposed in this paper. The currently available methods for dimensional quality assessment of complex bridges rely largely on manual inspection and contact-type measurement devices, which are time consuming and costly. To overcome these limitations, this paper presents a framework for dimensional quality assessment composed of three parts: scanning schemes for TLS and UAV, scanning implementation and measurement of geometric dimensions. The results of configuration detection verified the high-quality construction of Xinglinpu Bridge, although millimetre-scale differences were obtained between the point clouds and the design value. The potential and limitations of 3D laser scanning for assessing the quality of complex bridges are discussed.

Abstract

when the material interface received strong impact,the large gradient zone or mutations of the pressure and velocity will appear on both sides,and in this case,the numerical simulation has become extremely difficult. Effect of strong impact on gas-gas and gas-liquid interface is studied numerically by Runge- Kutta discontinuous Galerkin method. Ghost fluid Method is r GFM and limiter is TVB limiter with M = 150,and the results showed that the impact is very easy to transfer to gas gas interface,and the impact of transmission is very difficult to through the gas-liquid interface; Error is very small when the impact of strong impact on the gas-liquid interface is on the numerical simulation,and the effect is good; The simulation of gas gas interface can capture the shock wave,but there are some error on the simulation of high density area,and it still need to continue to improve.
