This study examines the impact of institutional investors on the readability of corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports in the Chinese polluting industry. All available CSR reports in the listed polluting industries in China from 2010 to 2019 are analyzed to develop a readability score for each company. To differentiate the heterogenous motivation of institutional investors, we classify institutional investors into long-term and short-term investors based on their holding purpose and trading frequency. The results show that long-term institutional investors with long-term horizons have strong motivation to engage in the CSR reports disclosure. However, short-term institutional investors pursue near-term interests and they may have weak incentives to participate in the corporate governance and improve CSR report readability. Furthermore, we also find that the positive relationship between long-term institutional investors and CSR readability is stronger in polluting firms with higher environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. Purpose: This paper discusses whether institutional investors change the shareholding ratio of listed companies through research meeting, and whether this active investment mode can really improve the investment efficiency of institutional investors. Design/methodology/approach: Using empirical research method, this study designs and conducts an empirical research according to empirical research's basic norms. Thus, we acquire needed and credible empirical data. This study analyzes whether institutional investors seek their private interest in researched companies by analyzing their research meetings and the shareholding ratios of different types of institutional investors using Shenzhen Stock Exchange data on listed firms from 2014 to 2018. Findings: This study finds that the research meetings of institutional investors provide participants with reliable information which supports the decision of institutional investors to change their shareholding ratio. The stock price growth rate strengthens the positive correlation between the research meetings of institutional investors and the shareholding ratio of institutional investors. Additionally, transactional institutional investors increase the shareholding ratio, while holding institutional investors do not. Originality/value: This paper combines the behavior of institutional investors with the holding status of institutional investors, and discusses the impact of institutional investors' behavior on investment decisions. Institutional asset owners increasingly seek to customize index-linked strategies in order to take their ESG and climate preferences into consideration. This trend away from capweighted benchmarks does, however, bring forth challenges for asset owners in fulfilling their fiduciary duties. To address these issues, a new self-indexing approach can provide investors with the tools to fully control the index design process and independently monitor the direct and indirect impacts of customization decisions. A 2023 EDHEC survey of institutional asset owners in North America and Europe reveals that less than half of respondents have the capacity to fully analyze their risk exposures, but more than 90% anticipate the further development of digitalized customization capabilities in the institutional passive investment industry. Infrastructure investment is increasingly important for institutional investors. This paper focuses on pension fund allocations to infrastructure, using the CEM Benchmarking database. We document that larger pension funds, public pension funds, and pension funds with a higher allocation to other alternative assets are more likely to invest in infrastructure. Pension funds across the globe face infrastructure investment costs that are comparable, but we observe significant scale advantages in infrastructure investments, with larger pension funds exhibiting lower investment costs, and higher net returns. Importantly, infrastructure has been among the best-performing asset classes, as measured by net returns, and we document persistence in pension fund infrastructure investment performance over a one-year horizon. A sharp drop in stock prices is one of the most important risks of investing in the capital market. In the absence of a fully efficient market, it is possible to obtain abnormal negative (positive) returns from a group of traders. One of the most important traders of the stock exchange, which plays a significant role in the operation of the stock market, is the institutional shareholders. Therefore, in this research, the effect of institutional investors' attention on the risk of falling stock prices has been investigated. For this purpose, using the systematic sampling method, the data of 100 member companies of the Tehran Stock Exchange for the period of 2013 to 2021 have been selected and used as a sample using the method of systematic elimination. To test the hypotheses of the research, the multivariate regression technique was used using the panel data method. The research results showed that the attention of institutional investors hurts the risk of falling stock prices.
