Natural disasters have always threatened the lives of humans and other creatures. One of the significant challenges for quickly responding to an earthquake is the need for precise and comprehensive information. Given that part of the environmental infrastructure is destroyed, quickly acquiring the required information is a serious challenge. Due to the ubiquity of smartphones, which have sensing, processing, and communication capabilities, this paper proposes CrowdBIG, a crowdsourcing-based architecture for information acquisition from the disaster environment. CrowdBIG architecture consists of four layers: sensing, fog, cloud, and application. Given that the reliability of crowdsourcing systems is dependent on the quality of user data, detecting malicious users, as well as scoring, and selecting useful users are of great importance. The CrowdBIG system is equipped with a reputation management component, which contains two sub-components: malicious user detection and user scoring. To evaluate the CrowdBIG system, first, we validate the information acquisition and dissemination workflow of the system using a scenario-based method. We then simulate the disaster environment through several well-known scenarios. The results show that CrowdBIG can detect malicious users appropriately. The CrowdBIG system can also score non-malicious users reasonably based on their usefulness and information completeness rates. The simulation results reveal that the reliability of the CrowdBIG system is 92%. Finally, the usability evaluation survey shows that more than 80% of the participants rated the usability of the proposed information-gathering tool as good or excellent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) based on transfer learning methods have been widely used in the research of bearing fault diagnosis under variable operating conditions, and some useful results have been achieved. However, conventional UDA methods predominantly prioritize the extraction of class labels and domain labels from the data, neglecting the effect of data architecture information on extracted characteristics. In addition, global domain adaptation methods ignore the relationship between subdomains. Therefore, in this paper, we propose multi-kernel subdomain adversarial domain adaptation for graph autoencoder networks (MSADAGAE) to solve the above problems, which has two key parts. Firstly, multiple graph convolutional blocks are used to obtain graph node features as well as topologies at different scales via residual-connected graph autoencoders (GAEs). Second, a subadaptation module based on multi-layer multi-kernel local maximum mean discrepancy (MLMK-LMMD) is proposed, including a globally aligned domain classifier and subdomain-aligned domain adaptation. Then, the optimization of feature classification boundaries is further enhanced through margin loss regularization. Finally, validation is performed on the public datasets CWRU, JNU, and the results show that the model exhibits good performance even under unbalanced datasets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Infrared and visible image fusion aims at generating a fused image containing the intensity and detail information of source images, and the key issue is effectively measuring and integrating the complementary information of multi-modality images from the same scene. Existing methods mostly adopt a simple weight in the loss function to decide the information retention of each modality rather than adaptively measuring complementary information for different image pairs. In this study, we propose a multi-scale dual attention (MDA) framework for infrared and visible image fusion, which is designed to measure and integrate multi-scale complementary information in both structure and loss function at the image and patch level. In our method, the residual downsample block decomposes source images into three scales first. Then, dual attention fusion block integrates complementary information and generates a spatial and channel attention map at the same and adjacent scale for feature fusion. Finally, the output image is reconstructed by the residual reconstruction block. Loss function consists of image-level, feature-level and patch-level three parts, of which the calculation of the image-level and patch-level two parts are based on the weights generated by the complementary information measurement. Indeed, to constrain the pixel intensity distribution between the output and infrared image, a style loss is added. Our fusion results perform robust and informative across different scenarios. Qualitative and quantitative results on three datasets illustrate that our method is able to preserve both thermal radiation and detailed information from two modalities and achieve comparable results compared with the other state-of-the-art methods. Ablation experiments show the effectiveness of our information integration architecture and adaptively measure complementary information retention in the loss function. Purpose: The aim of this research is to assess the Qom University website using information architecture indicators to determine the website's status and conduct a qualitative review. Regularly reviewing and evaluating websites for their structural and content aspects, and then identifying their strengths and weaknesses, will provide a suitable strategy for policy and decision making. Method: This research utilized a survey method to investigate the Qom University website, using the evaluation checklist optimized by Sediqi (1400) in June 1402. In this study, foursub-systems of website organization — tagging, navigation, and search — were evaluated based on three fundamental aspects of information architecture: context, user, and content. The evaluation list included two parts: descriptive questions and yes-or-no questions, designed to assess the presence or absence of the investigated characteristics. Finally, the checklist was prepared by the researcher based on the indicators and evaluation criteria, presented in the form of tables, and completed. Findings: The analysis of these lists revealed that Qom University's website achieved 22 out of 37 points in the information organization section, 30 out of 57 points in the labeling section, 42 out of 78 points in the navigation section, and 5 out of 78 points in the search section. He has obtained a total of 46. Therefore, compared to the ideal state, the website under study scored 64% in the organization section, 45% in the tagging section, 81% in the navigation section, and 10% in the search field. Good at organization and navigation, but very poor at search. Conclusion: Websites are an effective tool for communication between organizations and their audiences. This research aimed to evaluate the Qom University website and to identify its strengths and weaknesses. Based on the research findings, the organization system of the website is in good condition. However, the weaknesses of the university website's organizational plan are primarily related to its structure. Specifically, it lacks an alphabetical organization plan and does not utilize an audience-oriented or social organization plan, as indicated by the organizational chart. While the website navigation system indicates the current page, it does not clearly display all the levels of navigation that the user has traversed. The website's main navigation system must be integrated with the local system. The website search system must be implemented. In addition, integrating a recommender system into the website search system is one method that can be utilized to enhance the performance of the search system.

The current ad-hoc, organically grown system of digital library inventory management is inefficient, ineffective, and costly, both in dollar terms and in the time and effort of librarians and users. UConn is building a data architecture framework that is integrated in a larger concept of how library data is acquired, managed, and delivered. The industrial domain is undergoing a major transformation, pushed forward by emerging technologies originating from research or industry. The resulting trend, better known by the term Industry 4.0, advances automation within these manufacturing companies by providing ubiquitous interconnection. This enables the integration of technologies mainly used in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Cyber-physical Systems (CPS) or Big Data with the goal to optimize production processes or facilitate intelligent decision-making. While those processes are progressively supported by methodologies coming from the area of artificial intelligence (AI) like machine learning algorithms, sustainable and consistent storing of production data becomes increasingly important. Concluding, production systems engineering and information engineering are correlating with each other, as the respective results could be used to the advantage of the respective other discipline. In order to address these issues while developing such flexible production systems, the Reference Architecture Model Industrie 4.0 (RAMI 4.0) has been introduced. However, practical applications are lacking as this standard is mainly described in theory, which makes it difficult to actually apply this framework. Thus, the main goal of this paper is to specify a detailed architecture description of the Information Layer to ensure the practical application of RAMI 4.0, which allows stakeholders to utilize model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for developing data aspects of industrial systems on the one hand and enable Information Engineering on the other hand. Issues of aviation flight safety conducted with an on-board information exchange system are discussed. The system information analysis method is used. An analysis of in-flight hazard sources and the means of their elimination from the information exchange point of view are carried out including the influence of the information exchange system's parameters, work algorithm and architecture. The value of information exchange speed on safety in dynamic flight conditions is discussed. A modification of architecture and the information exchange system algorithm are proposed to increase the exchange speed and the whole system's effectiveness based on parallel processing as well as to enhance the probability of successful elimination of an emergency situation. Landscape mapping is concerned with space planning whereby it emphasized space use in terms of function, mobility space, social space, and also ecological space. To plan this space design to reflect its purpose, initial data collection is critically needed. Depending on the site's characteristics such as hard and soft landscape features, collecting all of this data will be tedious and time-consuming. This research aims to employ Terrestrial Laser Scanning to iteratively approach landscape mapping and provide a landscape map architectural standard. In this research, by adapting Terrestrial Laser Scanning, a geomatic instrument that enables surveyors to immediately deliver accurate terrain relief mapping, technical structural assessments will be utilized to scan a diverse terrain, with a particular emphasis on hard and soft landscapes. The method of data acquisition for Terrestrial Laser Scanning was the traverse method, with that location-specific data will then be processed to generate a 3D point cloud model with georeferenced and transform it into 2D hard and soft landscape mapping. Then, a comparison will be made between the landscape map created from this research and the conventional landscape architecture approach. As a result of the data validation, it shows that Terrestrial Laser Scanning can provide high accuracy data in terms of northing, easting, and heights. Moreover, it can be concluded that there are numerous advantages to providing efficient information and an accurate representation of the site in a 3D model/point cloud, which enables landscape designers or architects to design a landscape map to their fullest potential in terms of creativity, landscape placement strategies, and as-built survey for maintenance updates. A lot of applications including event logs and web pages uses XML format for utilizing, keeping, transferring and displaying data. Thus, volume of data expressed in XML has increase rapidly. Numerous research has been done to extract and mine information from XML documents. Mining XML documents allows an understanding to the architecture and composition of XML documents. Generally, frequent subtree mining is one of the methods to mine XML documents. Frequent subtree mining searches the relation between data in a tree structured database. Due to the architecture and the composition of XML format, normal data mining and statistical analysis difficult to be performed. This paper suggests a framework that flattens and converts tree structured data into structured data, while maintaining the information of architecture and the composition of XML format. To gain more information from event logs, converting into structured data from semistructured format grants more ability to perform variety data mining techniques and statistical test. Tooth point cloud segmentation plays an important role in the digital dentistry, and has received much attention in the past decade. Recently, methods based on the graph neural network have made significant progress. However, the development has been hindered by two challenges: (1) the heterogeneous geometry data are analyzed separately or combined linearly which leads to a semantic gap in different streams; (2) there is mis-alignment between the loss function and evaluation metrics in the segmentation task. In this paper, a novel interacted graph network is presented that combines cues from heterogeneous geometry data by extending the graph attention architecture to propagate information among the different graphs. Moreover, in this paper, an approach is designed to search the segmentation loss function based on the computation graphs according to the evaluation metrics, and the evolution algorithm is revised to avoid potential loss and equivalent loss functions. In view of the current multi-source information scenario, this paper proposes a decision-making method for electric vehicle charging stations (EVCSs) based on prospect theory, which considers payment cost, time cost, and route factors, and is used for electric vehicle (EV) owners to make decisions when the vehicle's electricity is low. Combined with the multi-source information architecture composed of an information layer, algorithm layer, and model layer, the load of EVCSs in the region is forecast. In this paper, the Monte Carlo method is used to test the IEEE-30 model and the traffic network based on it, and the spatial and temporal distribution of charging load in the region is obtained, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results show that EVCS load forecasting based on the prospect theory under the influence of multi-source information will have an impact on the space–time distribution of the EVCS load, which is more consistent with the decisions of EV owners in reality. Geospatial Information Verification Mid-End Platform for Natural Resource Administration is designed in response to issues such as repeated development, low scalability, and inconsistent verification rules in existing approval and supervision application systems. We first discussed the architecture of the middle platform and micro-services and also examined the business requirements. Secondly, we presented the architecture of the spatial information verification platform. Finally, the application method in the construction land approval business is introduced. Practical applications proved that the spatial information verification platform is highly scalable and maintainable, with reusable business components and data services for a variety of government affairs application systems. The concept of "Bio-Digital Architecture" is not new and it is within an area of great speculation and few well-demarcated definitions. A key factor in the definition and practice of technology is the difference between its production and use. If we assume that forms of use are also technical, this distinction is intrinsic to countries based on economies without added value and their histories focused on reverting this situation. This article proposes the revision of a paradigm shift in South America that combined the sustainable "Bio Architecture" (Garciatello: 1948) background from the developmental state with a different economic model era. Through a historical review of the sociology of symbolic production, and the development of devices and interfaces, mechanisms are proposed to recognize paradigm shifts, in a context where technological utopias are associated with the materialization of new social utopias of developing. Focused on specific cases, this research explains the culmination of the principles of "Second-order cybernetics", in the epistemological formulation of "Autopiesis", and the early visualization of these principles through digital media in the experience of "Protobio" (Varela, Maturana, Uribe: 1974). Finally, this work concludes with the description of the concrete application of these principles, not in an illustrative way, but in the design of the electronic information architecture of the operating system, continuing with the challenge of translating the logic of the immune system into an economic, political and social context completely different from its predecessors, with "Virus Detection"—VirDet—and "Oyster 2.0" (Giacaman: 1988, 1994). The paper presents the solutions for Optimizing economic applications by optimizing data flows present in different modules integrated in informatics technology systems. The architecture of the information system represents the generic solution regarding the data processing processes that must be carried out and the way of data and processing integration. In other words, the architecture represents the constructive solution of the IT system and reflects the strategic managerial vision of how the organization (company) works. The company’s global IT system is broken down into subsystems, each of which covers a distinct field of activity. In turn, each subsystem is broken down into applications, each of which covers a distinct activity within the domain. For example, the IT subsystem for the commercial domain will be broken down into distinct applications for each of the following activities: supply, sales, and marketing. The decomposition process also continues in the stage where procedures will be defined for each application performing distinct functions within the application, for example, procedures for directing processing, procedures for updating the database, procedures for consulting the database. In turn, the procedures are broken down into modules. They comprise code sequences, each performing a distinct function within the procedure. For example, a database update procedure will include: a module for adding records, a module for modifying records and a module for deleting records. The architecture promoted in the realization of decentralized systems is the client-server architecture characterized by the fact that the applications and data made available to users are dispersed on the various hardware components depending on the number of users who must have access and the required computing power. Background and Objectives: Users’ change approach from traditional methods to the use of social network sites, capacities for searching information and reaching ii including the educational content, have attracted the attention of numerous of studies in Human and Information Interaction. Also, availability, usability, audience attraction ability, and capacity of creating useful, customized and variable content have provided new opportunities in creating and distributing educational content on Instagram, one of the social media platforms that has the majority of the users in Iran. This study completed with mission of discovery and knowing the success components in creating and sharing educational content. The objectives of the study are analyzing successful experiences in producing and sharing information, drawing themes network of shared information, using of metadata for improving findability, and realizing factors affected in user acceptance in these pagesMethods: This research was carried out following qualitative research design with exploratory approach and thematic analysis. Thirty educational pages on Instagram have been selected based on competitive benchmarking, one of the research approaches in Information Architecture area. For research validity and reliability, the researchers used triangulation method. Data analyzed by Maxqda Pro 12.3 software. The research has done in the framework of Rosenfeld and Morville Information Architecture and in three dimensions: context, user and content. In the context dimension, the theory of use and gratification was used for examining the goals and motivations of information sharing. In the content dimension, the social tagging behavior was examined for investigating information findability behavior; also, the image characteristics have been examined the most liked posts, using theories of user engagement and optimal experience. In user dimension, the study investigated success components in content creating and successful content creators’ attributes. For this, the study analyzed user’s feedback in comments section and content creators and experts’ opinions.Findings: The results showed that various components have contributed search optimization and findability. In context dimension, it showed that users had followed the goals of informing and awareness along with achieving economic goals, personal interest, interpersonal benefits, status, social status, and social interaction. In the content dimension and findability and examining the social tagging behavior, it was found that content creators had a definite constant policy on the use of hashtag. They had assigned subject and related hashtags, also they had used exclusive hashtags for the personalization and branding. They had utilized more subject, common and exclusive hashtags to content and less emphasizing and critical hashtags. The type of tags assigned to content was depended on the context of the pages. Also, the findings showed that 76 percent of the hashtags were consistent with the main subject of the shared content. Additionally, it was showed that image characteristics on the most liked posts were the human image, outstanding artistic, scientific and literary characters and nature and the themes of family, love, and religion on these posts. 80 percent of the most liked posts were dedicated to the main theme of the pages. The components of the success of content acceptance by users included quality, awareness, credibility, value-added, specialized, motivational, entertaining, unique, relevant, realistic, up-to-date, and creative, executable, sharable, and personalized. Being committed, creativity, credibility, expertise, distinct identity, generosity and avoidance of copying, criticality, having intelligent behavior, patience and tolerate, a strong spirit of cooperation and communication, familiarity with analytical tools of information platform, and alignment with developments and updates were also components of the successful content creators.Conclusion: The results of the research showed that successful experiments in three dimensions of context, content, and user, used specific features and components that could be a good model for content creators on this network. These components were using suitable inclusion of subject and exclusive hashtags; recommendation technique; information about author identity and expertise, contact information, valued followers, followers’ number, presence on other platforms, consistent themes in profile information; aesthetic, positive affect, quality, relevance, using of image characteristics, inspiring, Informing, realistic, relevance, unique, entertaining content and some others.

Several research that assesses, or assess computer systems has been undertaken in previous decades. Choosing an appropriate DBMS system in a computer application, though, was never completely arbitrary, based on the professional study. Developing a viable answer for such a challenge depending on business goals and needs from judgment necessitates a thorough study on information access as well as comprehensive professional evaluation. The research presents a DSS to help non-kinetics discover their proper DBMS solutions and otherwise information retention types faster. This suggested DSS is unique in that it uses MoSCoW to evaluate criterion weighting or deliberate, as well as assessment frameworks for quantifying overall levels of quasi criterion and ISO/IEC qualitative features to show the link between criterion based upon industry specialists' expertise. Companies that produce programs have difficulty integrating new innovations, such as Internet computing or information management platforms, into their operations. Because computer engineers and top programmers are usually specialists in their field, users need to consult or train other professionals. Therefore, computer development is an appropriate area for implementing judgment support technologies that can proactively help this prediction to choose the best technologies for their products. We offer a decision support system (DSS) to assist in the selection of the best appropriate information architecture. According to both example reports and specialists, this technique improves visibility into the choice method gives a deeper prioritized choice range than if customers have conducted their study individually, or saves the duration and expense of the judicial procedure. The identification of genetic factors associated with the risk, onset, and progression of kidney disease has the potential to provide mechanistic insights and therapeutic perspectives. In less than two decades, technological advances yielded a trove of information on the genetic architecture of chronic kidney disease. The spectrum of genetic influence ranges from (ultra)rare variants with large effect size, involved in Mendelian diseases, to common variants, often non-coding and with small effect size, which contribute to polygenic diseases. Here, we review the paradigm of UMOD, the gene coding for uromodulin, to illustrate how a kidney-specific protein of major physiological importance is involved in a spectrum of kidney disorders. A robust perception system is crucial for natural human–robot interaction. An essential capability of these systems is to provide a rich representation of the robot's environment, typically using multiple sensory sources. Moreover, this information allows the robot to react to both external stimuli and user responses. The novel contribution of this paper is the development of a perception architecture, which was based on the bio-inspired concept of endogenous attention being integrated into a real social robot. In this paper, the architecture is defined at a theoretical level to provide insights into the underlying bio-inspired mechanisms and at a practical level to integrate and test the architecture within the complete architecture of a robot. We also defined mechanisms to establish the most salient stimulus for the detection or task in question. Furthermore, the attention-based architecture uses information from the robot's decision-making system to produce user responses and robot decisions. Purpose/Thesis: The purpose of this article is to present and analyze the information architecture used in the digital distribution service Steam. It discusses both the strategy informing the design of the Steam and the practical application of the service's systems. Approach/Methods: A significant part of the analysis was carried out on the basis of the book entitled Information architecture. For the web and beyond. Four main systems identified in the book are considered. For each of them, conclusions were drawn with regard to the operation of the entire platform. The analysis was supported by content provided by the platform's producers. Results and conclusions: The conducted research allowed the author to identify and characterize the methods for organizing information employed by the Steam platform in the light of the basic elements of information architecture. Originality/Value: Steam is one of the most popular digital video-game distribution platforms. Nevertheless, it is a relatively new and underexplored field in the context of information architecture studies. The platform's enormous financial success warrants research into its information architecture as it yields insight into the operations of this type of information services. Research limitations: The main challenge encountered during research was the limited access to official information concerning the mechanics of Steam's information architecture Therefore, the article partly relies on the analysis of the platform's interface as accessed by its users. Purpose/Thesis: The main objective of the presented study is to assess the quality of information architecture on the websites of Law and Justice (PiS) and Civic Platform (PO), the dominant parties in Polish politics. Approach/Methods: The research methodology comprises a qualitative-heuristic assessment of the information architecture on the websites of PiS and PO, expert assessment, a comparative analysis of selected websites and the author's own observations. Results and conclusions: Although both sites are of standard quality, they have been designed with the principles of functionality in mind. They lack some important components of information architecture. The website of PO is of marginally higher quality than the website of PiS. Practical implications: The results of the conducted research may have an impact not only on the assessment of the parties' technological advancement, but also on their image and public perception, and therefore also their effectiveness in reaching their voters. Originality/Cognitive value: The study shows a new interpretation of a qualitative and heuristic assessment based on 74 criteria concerning the needs and competences of the user of a given website. The identification of data that is in various sources of information and its consolidation to deliver it as useful is achieved with Big Data. The overall objective of this work is to develop an information consolidation architecture design for health insurance using Big Data. For this research proposal, the analytical empirical method is used, of a quasi-experimental type with a quantitative approach, through the analysis of relevant references and specification of the architecture components. The results of this research allow categorizing different computational architectures for health insurance through a review of relevant literature, developing an architectural model of a computational system for an Ecuadorian health insurance company oriented to the consolidation of information, and evaluating the study methodology used to establish feasible factors of the model. The contribution of this work allows us to determine the applicability of the model to national or foreign health insurance companies by contrasting feasible factors in a specific company of the environment. It is concluded that the different sources of information or types of data used in the field of health insurance allow to know several edges of data analysis through a Big Data architecture, in addition to obtaining indicators to improve decision making; 73% of the established factors are viable in an Ecuadorian health insurance company. Construction management is a highly competitive project-based field of complex specialized services, creating or altering the built environment for a client. For construction projects to be successful, and in turn, for construction firms to be successful, understanding the relationship of performance statistics as indicators of project outcomes, such as cost, time, and profitability, is essential. There have been a number of efforts made to identify key performance indicators related to construction project success. However, due to lack of available data, many questions remain. There lies an opportunity to analyze project statistics as indicators of project success, similar to the way analytics have been used to predict success in sports. Construction firm project data for a portfolio of building projects were analyzed, and this study identifies correlated factors for completed building construction projects. A highlight of this correlation analysis identified profit differential as demonstrating a strong relationship with the number of requests for information and architects supplemental instructions on a project. Automatic identification of human facial expressions has many potential applications in today's connected world, from mental health monitoring to feedback for onscreen content or shop windows and sign-language prosodic identification. In this work we use visual information as input, namely, a dataset of face points delivered by a Kinect device. The most recent work on facial expression recognition uses Machine Learning techniques, to use a modular data-driven path of development instead of using human-invented ad hoc rules. In this paper, we present a Machine-Learning based method for automatic facial expression recognition that leverages information fusion architecture techniques from our previous work and soft voting. Our approach shows an average prediction performance clearly above the best state-of-the-art results for the dataset considered. Building information modeling (BIM) can integrate multi-stage resources and promote multi-agent collaboration. As a key information technology in the architecture, engineering and construction field, BIM has attracted increasing attention worldwide. Existing research mainly focuses on influencing factors or project-based applications of BIM, lacking a macroscopic and quantitative measurement. This study quantitatively explores the macro characteristics and dynamics of BIM adoption. A total of 4,591 BIM-related patents were collected, and the current BIM adoption status was clarified. The evolution process of BIM adoption from 2011 to 2020 was revealed using social network analysis, and the development trend was predicted based on a Barrat, Barthelemy, Vespignani (BBV) model. The results indicate that BIM adoption in China presents significant regional imbalances and scale-free network features, with low connectivity as a whole and a significant island effect locally, and is entering a stage of rapid development and active evolution. This study provides an overview of actual BIM adoption and its potential causes, which is a breakthrough in existing research. Molecular recognition is a form of information transfer, seen in the base pairing in DNA which is derived from the identity (acceptor or donor) and number of hydrogen bond sites within each base. Here we report bis‐ligand palladium(II) complexes that exhibit similar complementarity. Pd(II) has square planar four‐coordinate geometry, giving control over ligand orientation and denticity. Pairings were developed using ligand denticity (3 : 1 or 2 : 2), and hydrogen bond capability (AA:DD or AD:DA) or lack thereof. Five pairings were investigated, with two sets of four being found fully orthogonal. The two 3 : 1 pairings exhibited limited ligand exchange. The extent of this exchange varied dependant on solvent from 2 : 1 (desired to undesired) to 6 : 1. A reliable and varied set of ligand pairs have therefore been developed for bis‐ligand coordination sphere engineering in pursuit of sorting for complex molecular architectures and molecular‐level information storage and transfer events. Using an AI-based methodical analysis and synthesis approach, the high consumption of economic and human resources is to be continuously monitored and optimization measures initiated at an early stage. The necessary information technology with its infrastructure and architecture is the starting point to accompany the agility and changeability of corporate goals. Researching the relevant documents begins with writing the panorama or the state of knowledge on the topic. This article is about the IT infrastructure based on the requirements for an architecture and behavior that a versatile, agile company needs to accompany the constantly changing framework conditions of the market. The technology used and the available resources, including the human resources, need to be adapted as early as possible. Data now represent the most valuable asset on Earth and future industrial manufacturing systems must maximize the opportunity of data usage. Low-level data must be transformed to make them useful in supporting intelligent decision-making, for example. Furthermore, future manufacturing systems must be highly productive, adaptable, absent of error, and kind to the environment and to local communities. The all-important design should minimize the waste of material, capital, energy, and media. Background and Aim: This study aimed to propose a consistent architecture to design integrated and flexible information systems for the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology of Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences (AJUMS). Materials and Methods: This applied research employed an integrated design based on business system planning (BSP) and James Martinchr('39')s model for the design of information systems. The statistical population of this study included 27 managers and experts of AJUMS Vice-Chancellorship department for Research and Technology. Data collection was carried out using structured interview, observation, and document analysis. A contrast matrix was then used for data analysis. Results: In total, 53 processes and 60 data classes were identified. Using a multi-layered architectural model (presentation, process, data and infrastructure), the results were presented in the form of a proposed architecture. In the proposed architecture, 12 subsystems and the relationships among them were identified; such subsystems as library, research activities, sabbatical leave, conference, fellowship, publication, innovation and technology, laboratory information, theses, budget and planning, social subsystem and knowledge-management networks. The results also showed that the level of coverage of the processes, data classes, and objectives by existing information systems were 53%, 50%, and 55%, respectively, and increased to full coverage in proposed or optimal modes. Conclusion: By identifying the required information systems, it is possible to accurately plan and successfully use these systems in this study. The results of the present study can be used to implement the architecture of information systems of Research and Technology Departments of other universities of medical sciences (UMSs) in Iran, which can have a significant effect on saving cost and time.
