Background: Obturator hernia is an uncommon but important cause of intestinal obstruction., Methods: Retrospective study of 16 patients undergoing surgery for obturator hernia in a 20-year period., Results: All patients were elderly women. Low body mass index and multiparity were predisposing factors. Mean time from onset of symptoms to consultation was 4.1 days. The preoperative diagnosis was intestinal obstruction of unknown etiology in 13 cases and intestinal obstruction due to obturator hernia in three (diagnosis by CT). The rate of strangulated hernias was 75% and the perforation rate was 56.3%. Intestinal resection was required in 12 cases. Hernia repair was performed using polypropylene mesh in 11 cases and by means of simple suture and apposition of the peritoneum in five. Morbidity was 75% and mortality was 18.8%., Conclusions: Early diagnosis--we recommend CT in thin, elderly, multiparous women with intestinal obstruction--and early treatment can reduce complications and mortality.

Recurrent chronic pelvic pain should prompt physicians to reassess the patient. The threshold to perform laparoscopy, and to consider and surgically treat all potential disease associated with pain, even non-gynecologic etiologies, should be low, especially in those whose pain is focal or unresponsive to hormone therapy.

Obturator hernia is a rare event with poor clinical signs. Delayed diagnosis is a cause of increased mortality due to ruptured gangrenous bowel. We report a case of incarcerated obturator hernia which highlights the usefulness of computed tomography (CT) scanning in diagnosing this condition.

This is the first report on synthetic mesh migration following obturator hernia repair. Obturator hernias have a low incidence--with fewer than 700 published case studies to date--usually occur in elderly women and are difficult to diagnose. Since 1976, there have been no more than 29 reported cases in which synthetic materials were used in obturator hernia repair. Thus, information relevant to the surgical repair of this type of hernia is based on small numbers only. The use of synthetic mesh for the repair of obturator hernias is a recent development, and to date no complications have been reported with this type of repair. We report here on the outcome of a patient with mesh migration after obturator hernia repair. This report provides a short overview of mesh migration as a complication following the use of synthetic grafts for surgical repair.

Hernias through the obturator foramen are rare and are difficult to diagnose. They usually appear in elderly women, have an atypical presentation, and are associated with high mortality. The most frequently compromised organ is the small bowel. Hernias that involve the small bowel are often associated with intestinal obstruction and secondary necrosis. Several techniques and approaches have been described for management. We present a case of bladder hernia through the obturator foramen that we repaired laparoscopically by placing a mesh plug, a management option we find safe, fast, and effective.

An elderly emaciated female patient presented with recurrent lower abdominal pain associated with nausea and vomiting due to obstruction of the small bowel. Although the Howship-Romberg sign and tender mass on digital rectal examination could not ascertained but plain X-ray abdomen shows features of acute intestinal obstruction. After resuscitation laparotomy was done and diagnosed as case of strangulated obturator hernia of Ricters type. Reduction of hernial content and resection of the gangrenous part of small bowel with end-to-end anastomosis done. The hernial defect is repaired by a proleine mesh. Abdomen closed in layers keeping a drain in right iliac fossa and pelvic cavity. The postoperative recovery was uneventful. Patient discharge with advice on 9th postoperative day.

During the past 5000 years, ancient nomenclature and dogmas regarding the etiology of protrusions have accumulated. Whereas, in the abdomen, the Latin "hernia" supplanted Greek, it, based on content, persists in the pelvis as cystocele, rectocele, etc. Russell (Lancet 1:1519-1523, 1902) championed the congenital saccular theory of herniae, denying they could ever be acquired pathologically. Barring technical error, removal of the sac would cure. Despite dissent in the 1920s by Harrison, Keith, and Andrews, Russell's concepts held late into the twentieth century. We now know that pathology - systemic connective tissue disease - plays an important role in adult herniation. Tensionless prosthetic repair is usually required since the healing of damaged musculo-aponeurotic structures in abdomen or pelvis is impaired. Laparoscopists have declared sliding extraperitoneal prolapse of sacless kidney, ureter, bladder, and fat pad to be herniae. Similar vaginal protrusions should be denoted likewise. It is time gynecologists and herniologists join in the effort to develop antidotes for combating this pernicious co-morbidity which has been shown also to cause aneurysms, diverticulosis coli, skin changes, and emphysema. Prophylaxis should include exercise and going without cigarettes.

Introduction: Obturator hernia is an important cause of small bowel obstruction and is associated with difficult diagnosis and high mortality., Materials and Methods: We reviewed 22 cases of intestinal obstruction due to obturator hernia that necessitated surgical intervention over the last 17 years and evaluated the changes in the number of patients based on the census data., Results: All cases were elderly females. The Howship-Romberg sign was present in 15 patients (68%). Computed tomography (CT) correctly diagnosed 13/15 (87%) of cases in which it was performed prospectively. The median time to surgery was 7.5+/-5.2 days for those patients with bowel resection, compared to 0.8+/-1.3 days for those without (P <0.05). The number of patients with obturator hernia has increased with an ageing society., Conclusions: The rising incidence of obturator hernia is probably linked to an ageing society. CT of the pelvis was helpful in obtaining the correct diagnosis. The shorter the delay between admission and surgery, the lower the bowel resection rate. Laparotomy at an early stage is recommended in such patients as it leads to reduced morbidity and mortality.

The obturator hernia is a rare type of hernia which usually presents in thin, elderly women. The preoperative diagnosis is typically difficult, with non-specific signs and symptoms which result in a delay in the diagnosis. It can also be an incidental finding at exploratory laparotomy for a patient with intestinal obstruction. The treatment is surgical. A series of four females with obturator hernia is presented. All patients presented with a history of intestinal obstruction and the hernia was diagnosed preoperatively by computed tomography. All patients underwent a preperitoneal mesh repair with a favourable outcome. The diagnosis and the surgical approach are discussed.

Background/aims: Obturator hernia presenting in elderly women accompanies a high rate of bowel resection because of strangulation. Open laparotomy is usually indicated in general anesthesia. However, minimal invasive approaches would be advantageous unless resection is necessary. We aimed to determine clinical and radiological criteria for the selection of these patients., Methodology: Preoperative clinical data from 23 cases and known signs of ischemia on CT examination were retrospectively compared to operative findings., Results: Identification of patients having necrotic bowel was not possible by any clinical parameter or their combination. Patients with necrosis had longer history of symptoms, but acute onset less than 24 h does not exclude the need of resection (negative predictive value 83%). Impaired contrast enhancement was frequently seen on CTs independently from the onset of symptoms suggesting early vascular compromise (sensitivity 80%, specificity 22%), but not helping the differentiation. Signs of ischemia (bowel wall thickening and/or ascites) were present in every resected case while both were absent in 69% of patients having viable bowel., Conclusions: Absence of ischemic signs on nonenhanced CT may allow safe and more accurate selection of patients for minimal invasive surgery than any clinical or anamnestic parameter in obturator hernia.

Most cases of obturator hernia are diagnosed during surgery for treatment of acute small bowel obstruction resulting from incarceration. We present the case of a patient with incarcerated obturator hernia that was correctly diagnosed by computed tomography preoperatively. Laparoscopic preperitoneal mesh repair of the incarcerated obturator hernia and a contralateral direct inguinal hernia found incidentally was successfully performed.

Obturator hernia may occur bilaterally in association with another hernia, which is usually of the femoral type. We present a 77-year-old-woman who had abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting together with swelling of the right groin for 3 days. Incarcerated right femoral hernia and consequent mechanical small-bowel obstruction was diagnosed, and urgent operation was undertaken. As the incarcerated femoral hernia reduced spontaneously during the induction of anesthesia, a lower median incision was performed. During exploration, the real cause of mechanical intestinal obstruction was found to be a small intestinal loop strangulated in the left obturator hernia. Right femoral and left obturator hernia were repaired with preperitoneal polypropylene mesh. If there is enough time and general condition of the older patient is suitable, further diagnostic techniques for concomitant obturator hernias may be useful in patients who present with signs of incarcerated inguinal hernia and intestinal obstruction.

Obturator hernia is a rare variety of pelvic hernia. Preoperative diagnosis is still uncommon and influences treatment and prognosis. Clinical suspicion and tomography are fundamental for establishing a preoperative diagnosis. Subsequently, elective treatment via the total extraperitoneal laparoscopic approach seems to offer the best results for both the patient and the hospital. This management might reduce the high rates of associated morbidity and mortality. We present the case of a patient with chronic pelvic pain after hernia surgery in whom tomography confirmed the existence of a bilateral obturator hernia. Details are given of diagnostic and therapeutic management using ambulatory total extraperitoneal laparoscopy. We recommend ruling out obturator hernia as a possible cause of chronic pain after hernia repair.

Strangulated obturator hernia is a very rare condition found almost always in elderly, debilitated multiparas usually with concomitant severe chronic illnesses. The authors presented a case of a young, 35-years-old woman of normal constitution, nullipara, without previous abdominal surgery. This unusual clinical picture despite the symptoms of intestinal obstruction caused difficulties in the correct preoperative diagnosis. It is the youngest case of patient with strangulated obturator hernia described in Polish medical literature.

Obturator hernia is rare and has not been described in the pediatric population. The authors describe a case in a 12-year-old girl who presented with nonspecific abdominal pain and who was treated with a laparoscopic primary hernia repair.

The present study 66 half pelvis of cadaver for vascular structure called corona mortis, vessel that connect between external iliac and internal iliac system. The vessel was found 77.27% and the incidence of aberrant is 13.6%. The average distance from symphysis pubis to the vessel is 5.28 cm and distance above superior pubic rami is 1.37 cm.

The aim of this article is to provide a review of six patients with the various stages of obturator hernia and a diagnostic and therapeutic strategy in suspected cases. Obturator hernia is relatively rare and is a diagnostic challenge. It is a significant cause of intestinal obstruction, especially in emaciated elderly women with chronic disease. A palpable groin mass is not common in these patients because the hernia mass is usually concealed beneath the pectineus muscle. The high mortality is directly related to the delayed recognition, with resultant ruptured gangrenous bowel, and to the high incidence of patients with concurrent medical illness. A total of six patients with obturator hernias were treated at this hospital between 1994 and 2004, and one of these patients was diagnosed and treated by elective laparoscopy. We reviewed these six cases and examined the clinical presentation, age, body weight, associated medical conditions, preoperative diagnosis, operative findings, complications, and outcome in this retrospective study. We concluded that we cannot shorten the time from onset of symptoms to admission, but what we can do is to make a rapid evaluation and surgical intervention to reduce the morbidity and mortality from obturator hernia. The approaches to different presentation of obturator hernia and diagnostic role of CT scan are also discussed.

Obturator hernia is relatively rare and tends to occur in elderly, emaciated women with chronic diseases. Clinical presentations are frequently delayed and so preoperative diagnosis is difficult. Treatment is always surgical. We present a case of a 75-year-old woman with bilateral obturator hernia diagnosed by the physical examination and abdominopelvic computed tomography (CT) scan; she had no signs of bowel strangulation. We used a laparoscopic approach for correction. A transabdominal preperitoneal hernioplasty was done using a prosthetic patch of polypropylene mesh. The patient recovered very well after surgery. We suggest that a laparoscopic approach may be used as treatment, when a nonstrangulated obturator hernia is diagnosed preoperatively.

Background: We performed a pilot study review of 7 female patients suffering with obturator neuralgia produced by a type I obturator hernia. Diagnosis and laparoscopic treatment of this rare hernia are presented., Methods: Patients with chronic pelvic pain and signs of obturator neuralgia were identified retrospectively by chart review. These patients had been referred to our chronic pelvic pain clinic. Outcomes of their surgery from February through November 2001 were analyzed. Median length of follow-up was 11 months (range, 6 to 16). A new technique using Cooper's ligament and arcus tendineus fasciae pelvis was used for the tension-free mesh hernia repair., Results: In this pilot study, 6 of 7 patients (86%) received greater than 50% relief of their chronic pelvic pain, which leads to the conclusion that we have at least 95% confidence that the pain reduction achieved is greater that 50%. Due to the small sample size, no statistically meaningful conclusions could be reached. All of the patients have reported some pain relief and increased function since surgery., Conclusion: Symptomatic type I obturator hernias may be more common than previously thought. Patients with obturator neuralgia, persisting longer than 6 months despite conservative therapy, may respond to laparoscopic reduction of the pilot fat tag and mesh overlay of the obturator canal.

Introduction: An obturator hernia is a rare hernia that is bilateral in about 6% of patients. Most patients present with chronic pelvic pain although a few patients may present with features of intestinal obstruction. Only about 10% of obturator hernias are diagnosed preoperatively., Methods: A 65-year-old female patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease presented with bilateral groin swellings associated with local pain and heaviness. She also suffered from recurrent episodes of abdominal distension. She was diagnosed to have bilateral direct inguinal hernias and a left femoral hernia. At endoscopy under epidural anesthesia she was found to have a direct inguinal, an indirect inguinal, and a femoral hernia on the left side and an indirect inguinal hernia on the right side. Additionally, the endoscopic totally extraperitoneal approach to inguinal hernias identified hitherto undiagnosed bilateral obturator hernias. The hernias were reduced and polypropylene mesh was placed bilaterally covering the myopectineal orifice and pelvic floor bilaterally., Results: The patient was discharged the next day and is symptom-free on followup at eight months., Conclusion: Endoscopic repair of groin hernias allows the surgeon not only to diagnose and treat unsuspected groin hernias but also allows identification, dissection, and repair of coincidental occult pelvic hernias like obturator hernias at the same time.

Our objective was to determine the relationships between a trans-obturator sling and anatomic structures within the obturator region. The obturator regions of six cadavers were dissected and distances from the mid-point of the ischiopubic ramus to the muscles, nerves, and vessels of the region were measured. A trans-obturator sling was placed and distances from the device to the same anatomic structures were determined. Four additional cadavers were dissected to determine the device route of passage. The obturator canal is on average 4.4 cm from the midpoint of the ischiopubic rami. The trans-obturator sling passes on average 2.4 cm inferior-medial to the obturator canal. The anterior and posterior divisions of the obturator nerve are on average 3.4 and 2.8 cm, respectively, from a passed trans-obturator device. The device passed on average 1.1 cm from the most medial branch of the obturator vessels. Vascular and nerve structures are within 1-3 cm of the path of any device passed through the obturator foramen. A trans-obturator sling risks injury to these structures, although the small caliber of the vessels and the confined space in which they would bleed make the consequences of injury uncertain.

Background: One distinct advantage of the 1aparoscopic inguinal hernia repair is the opportunity for clear visualization of the direct, indirect, femoral, and obturator spaces. The surgeon should routinely inspect all of them. Obturator hernia accounts for as few as 0.073% of all hernias, but the mortality rate when it is acutely incarcerated can be as high as 70%. There is only one previous report of a totally extraperitoneal repair for obturator hernia. Five such procedures are described., Methods: A retrospective review was undertaken to evaluate one surgeon's experience with the totally extraperitoneal repair of obturator hernia over a 4-year period. Four of five cases were completed, and the remaining case was converted to an open procedure., Results: Three hernias were on the right side, and two on the left. One patient presented with an acutely incarcerated obturator hernia and underwent a small bowel resection for strangulated bowel within the obturator space. The other four hernias were found during totally extraperitoneal repair, and the patients were discharged home several hours later. There was one complication, a midline wound infection in the patient with strangulated bowel. It was treated with dressing changes. There were no other complications, and during a follow-up period of 3 to 48 months, there was no recurrence., Conclusions: The laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal approach allows inspection and repair of direct, indirect, femoral, and obturator hernias. This study found this procedure to be feasible, safe, and highly effective for the diagnosis and repair of obturator hernias.

Background: The aim of this paper is to present a simple method for obturator hernia repair in two cases with strangulated obturator hernia., Methods: The authors report on two cases of mechanical bowel obstruction due to incarcerated obturator hernia in elderly, thin women. Both patients presented with clinical and radiological signs of small bowel obstruction. Neither of them had the Howship-Romberg or Hannington-Kiff sign., Results: At laparotomy, incarcerated small bowel in a right-sided obturator hernia was observed in both patients. The small bowel was not necrotic, and no bowel resection was performed. The hernial defect was closed in two layers with interrupted and purse-string nonabsorbable sutures., Conclusions: Obturator hernia is rare and difficult to diagnose. Often the diagnosis is reached only at laparotomy for small bowel obstruction. The double-layer repair with interrupted and purse-string nonabsorbable sutures could be useful, especially in emergency laparotomies for incarcerated obturator hernia.

Background: Obturator hernia is a relatively rare pelvic hernia and usually occurs in elderly, thin, multiparous women. Because symptoms are nonspecific, the diagnosis is often delayed until laparotomy is performed form to treat bowel obstruction., Methods: Forty-three patients with obturator hernia undergoing surgery at Tokyo Metropolitan Geriatric Hospital were divided retrospectively into two groups (group A = 23 patients from 1968 to 1986 before computed axial tomography [CAT] was developed; group B = 20 patients from 1987 to 1999 after CAT). Preoperative diagnosis, operative procedures, and postoperative course were reviewed and compared between the 2 groups., Results: Preoperative diagnostic accuracy was significantly higher in group B at 80.0% (16 of 20 patients) than in group A at 43.5% (10 of 23 patients) (P = 0.0146). Rate of gut resection and mortality were significantly lower in group B at 25.0% (4 of 20) and 5.0% (1 of 20) than in group A at 52.2% (12 and 23) and 30.4% (7 of 23) (P = 0.0295 and P = 0.0385, respectively)., Conclusions: The use of pelvic CAT in cases of suspected obturator hernia significantly enhances preoperative diagnostic accuracy and helps to decrease both intestinal resection rate and surgical mortality.

Background: In experienced hands, laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair has a low rate of recurrence, but it still can recur, and a number of reasons for this have been identified. In published studies, the majority of such cases seem to result from inadequate dissection leading to missed hernias or suboptimal mesh placement. But even with adequate dissection and proper placement of a sufficiently large mesh, recurrence sometimes happens. A number of investigators have cited mesh migration or dislocation as a possible cause, and this study examined how hip flexion affects the position of newly placed meshes and staples in totally extraperitoneal (TEP) repair of inguinal hernia., Methods: After completion of the dissection and reduction of discovered hernias, a 15 x 15-cm polypropylene mesh was placed either unilaterally or bilaterally, as indicated. The preperitoneal space then was desufflated. The operating table, in an extended -20 degrees position during surgery, was placed in a 90 degrees position for approximately 15 s. After reinsufflation, the possibility of mesh migration and folding was investigated. Finally, the mesh was stapled, the table again extended and flexed, and the possibility of mesh migration and staple dislodgement investigated once more., Results: The mesh did not migrate or become displaced from any potential hernia area, nor did any of the staples become dislodged., Conclusions: Concern about mesh migration attributable to patients sitting up immediately after surgery appears to be unfounded, at least according to the findings for the current, small, simulated study group.

Background: Laparoscopic treatment of acutely incarcerated inguinal hernia is uncommon and still controversial. Those being performed almost all use the transabdominal (TAPP) approach. The authors here present their experience with totally extraperitoneal (TEP) repair of acutely incarcerated hernia., Methods: A retrospective review was undertaken to evaluate the authors' experience with this procedure over a 4-year period. There were 16 cases, 5 of which were performed using a conventional anterior repair. These 5 cases were excluded from the review. The surgery for all of the remaining 11 acutely incarcerated hernias was started laparoscopically using the TEP approach. Eight of the cases were completed this way, whereas three were converted to the open procedure. In addition to standard TEP repair techniques, a releasing incision is required for acutely incarcerated direct, indirect, or femoral hernias. With a direct hernia, the opening of the defect is enlarged to allow safe dissection of its contents. A releasing incision is made at the anteromedial aspect of the defect to avoid injury to the epigastric or iliac vessels. With an indirect hernia, several additional steps are required. The epigastric vessels may be divided; an additional trocar may be placed laterally below the linea semicircularis to facilitate dissection of the sac and to assist with suturing of the divided sac; and the deep internal ring is divided anteriorly at the 12 o'clock position toward the external ring, facilitating dissection of the indirect sac. With a femoral hernia, a releasing incision is made by carefully incising the insertion of the iliopubic tract into Cooper's ligament at the medial portion of the femoral ring., Results: The mean operative time was 50 min (range, 20-120 min), and the length of hospital stay was 5.4 days (range, 1-29 days). During a follow-up period of 9 to 69 months, there was no recurrence, and only two complications. One of these complications was an infected mesh that occurred in a case involving cecal injury. It was treated with continuous irrigation and salvaged. The other complication was a midline wound infection after a small bowel resection for a strangulated obturator hernia., Conclusions: Familiarity with the anatomy involved leads to the conclusion that the laparoscopic approach, specifically the TEP procedure, can be used without hesitation even in cases of acutely incarcerated hernia.

An analysis of generalized clinical material includes 60 diagnostic laparoscopies performed in patients with incarcerated hernias and 48 curative endovideosurgical interventions in patients with incarcerated inguinal and femoral hernias. Attention is called to the extension of technological resources of the operative treatment of incarcerated hernias using the laparoscopic technique and possible transformations of the operative strategy in such cases.

Purpose of the Study: To assess clinical, therapeutic and diagnostic findings of strangulated obturator hernias., Patients and Method: Retrospective study of 17 patients (16 women, 1 man; average age: 81.7 years), all treated in the same service, for strangulated obturator hernia. The studied criteria were: clinical characteristics (general status, obstruction, sign of Romberg-Howship), morphologic exams, mean delay for surgical treatment, and occurrence of postoperative complications., Results: The clinical examination revealed small bowel obstruction in 94% of the patients (n = 16) and incomplete obstruction in 1 patient; 23.5% of the patients presented a sign of Romberg-Howship. A major slimming was observed in 82% of the cases. A computed tomography, performed in 3 patients, showed the presence of air in the under-pubic channel. Preoperative diagnosis of obturator hernia was suspected in 23.5% of the cases. Surgical treatment was performed after a mean delay of 5.3 d. The mortality and morbidity rates were respectively 35 and 18%., Conclusion: Due to the low specificity of clinical examination, preoperative diagnosis of obturator hernia remains difficult. Computed tomography can be of great help for the diagnosis. Any therapeutic delay increasing mortality rate, surgery is mandatory in case of small bowel obstruction in order to make the diagnosis and the treatment of such rare pathology.

Two cases of strangulated obturator hernia were presented. Both cases were diagnosed during surgical intervention. In one case the postoperative recovery was not successful--mostly because of delay in referring to the surgeon. Described cases confirm diagnostic difficulties associated with this rare type of hernia. The attention should be paid to association of obstructive symptoms with obturator neuralgia and/or painful mass in rectal examination.

Obturator hernia is a rare type of hernia, but it is a significant cause of intestinal obstruction due to the associated anatomy. Correct diagnosis and treatment of obturator hernia is important, because delay can lead to high mortality. Twelve patients with obturator hernia were managed during a 11-year period, including 11 women and 1 man with a mean age of 82 years. We compared our experience with the previously published data to establish standards for the diagnosis and treatment of this hernia. All 12 patients presented with intestinal obstruction. The median interval from admission to operation was 2 days. The Howship-Romberg sign was positive in 5 patients. A correct diagnosis was made in all 8 patients who underwent pelvic CT scanning. Surgery was performed via an abdominal approach (n = 7) or an inguinal approach (n = 5). The hernial orifice was closed using the uterine fundus (n = 6), a patch (n = 5), and direct suture (n = 1). Mean follow-up time was 33 months, and no recurrence has been detected. The poor physical condition of patients might have led to a delay in diagnosis and treatment. In troubled patients with nonspecific intestinal obstruction, CT scanning is useful for the early diagnosis of obturator hernia. Correct CT diagnosis of obturator hernia allows us to select the inguinal approach combined with patch repair, which is minimally invasive surgery.

A retrospective study of 6 patients with obturator hernia diagnosed before surgery by X-ray and computed tomography (CT) was conducted between 1993 and 2000. The initial CT of the abdomen including the pelvic area revealed incarcerated bowel in the obturator foramen of all 6 patients. All patients underwent laparotomy as soon as possible after CT scans were obtained. Resection of the small bowel was performed in 3 patients, and release of the small bowel was performed in the remaining 3 patients. There were no perioperative deaths. In elderly women who show evidence of small bowel obstruction by abdominal plain x-ray studies, we recommend performing CT scans of the abdomen including the pelvic area for detection of obturator hernia.

Obturator hernia is a rare condition with few reports in the world literature. There appears to be no consensus on the ideal approach and repair for such a condition. We report a simple, quick technique via a lower midline incision using an autogenous peritoneal fold. It is ideal for the contaminated case and in settings where mesh is not readily available.

The canalis obturatorius hernia was revealed in 3 women aged 74-84 yrs old of 221 patients who have died due to strangulation of hernia. Diffuse peritonitis, caused by an acute strangulation ileus, was the reason of the death. Osteometric investigations were performed in 50 cadavers. For the improvement of the canalis obturatorius hernia diagnosis there was proposed the application of dots of its projection.
