Dielectric relaxation in ABO3 perovskite oxides can result from many different charge carrier-related phenomena. Despite a strong understanding of dielectric relaxations, a detailed investigation of the relationship between the content of oxygen vacancies (VO) and dielectric relaxation has not been performed in perovskite oxide films. In this work, we report a systematic investigation of the influence of the VO concentration on the dielectric relaxation of Eu0.5Ba0.5TiO3-δ epitaxial thin films. Nuclear resonance backscattering spectrometry was used to directly measure the oxygen concentration in Eu0.5Ba0.5TiO3-δ films. We found that dipolar defects created by VO interact with the off-centered Ti ions, which results in the dielectric relaxation in Eu0.5Ba0.5TiO3-δ films. Activation energy gradually increases with the increasing content of VO. The present work significantly extends our understanding of relaxation properties in oxide films.

The root cause of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is repeated hypoxia during sleep. The genioglossus is one of the most important upper airway dilatation muscles and is important for maintaining normal oxygen supply during sleep. Hypoxia can directly affect the energy metabolism level of the genioglossus muscle, thereby weakening muscle function. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) can regulate mitochondrial function at the post-transcriptional level and achieve recovery or even enhancement of genioglossus function, but the specific mechanism is still unclear. In this study, an intermittent hypoxic cell model was established to detect the effects of hypoxia on the proliferation and apoptosis of Genioglossus muscle satellite cells (GG MuSCs), and the damage to the mitochondrial structure and function was assessed by transmission electron microscopy and mitochondrial membrane potential. Then, miR-17-5p was upregulated and downregulated by miRNA mimics and inhibitors, respectively, and bioinformatics analysis was used to predict and validate the target genes of miR-17-5p. The results showed that the hypoxic environment affected the proliferation of GG MuSCs and mitochondrial membrane potential, which promoted the occurrence of apoptosis and mitochondrial edema. After upregulation of miR-17-5p, cell proliferative capacity and mitochondrial function were restored. Bioinformatics prediction and gene and protein level analyses found that Mfn2 may be a target gene of miR-17-5p. .

CuWO 4 is an n-type oxide semiconductor with a bandgap of 2.2 eV which exhibits great potential for photoelectrochemical (PEC) conversion of solar energy into chemical fuels. However, the photocurrent achieved so far is limited to ∼0.3 mA cm -2 at +1.23 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE). Possible limiting factors include slow surface reaction kinetics, poor charge carrier mobility and/or presence of surface defect states. A detailed understanding of the fundamental electronic structure and its correlation with PEC activity is of significant importance for devising strategies for further improvements. In this work, we have synthesized CuWO 4 thin films showing a record photocurrent density of 0.50 mA cm -2 at +1.23 V vs. RHE. Importantly, we have used a synergistic combination of photoemission spectroscopy, X-ray absorption spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) to unravel the electronic structure of CuWO 4 . Our results show that the valence band (VB) consists of strongly hybridized states of O 2p 6 and Cu 3d 9 , while the bottom of the conduction band (CB) is primarily composed of unoccupied Cu 3d states. The localized nature of the Cu 3d state leads to the low charge carrier mobility and the localization of the photo-excited electrons to the CB. The combined experimental and theoretical results also indicate that CuWO 4 is better described as having a direct but d-d forbidden optical bandgap, leading to a low absorption coefficient for visible light. Furthermore, the implication of the electronic structure on its PEC characteristics and strategies for further improvements by adding Co 3 O 4 as a co-catalyst or surface layer to increase the interfacial band bending to facilitate photo-carriers transport, are discussed.

Five patients with primary malignancies in the pterygopalatine fossa (PPF) and infra temporal fossa (ITF) were enrolled in this retrospective study between January 2012 and January 2018. After malignancies proven by biopsy and evaluation with CT and MRI scan, all patients received modified maxillary swing (MMS) approach for extirpation of malignant tumors in the PPF and ITF under general anesthesia. En bloc resection with wide surgical margins was successfully performed in all cases. Negative margins were observed in 4 cases and positive margins were found in one patient with adenoid cystic carcinoma who received postoperative radiotherapy. The most common complication was facial numbness. During the follow-up period (range 12 to 57 months), one patient suffered from recurrence while others did not. The advantages of MMS include wide surgical field, full exposure and easy manipulation. The MMS approach is expected to become an standard method for monobloc resection of malignancies in the PPF and ITF.回顾性分析2012年1月至2018年1月于湖南省肿瘤医院头颈外科就诊的5例翼腭窝及颞下窝原发恶性肿瘤患者资料（3例女性，2例男性，年龄13~67岁），患者均经术前活检确诊为恶性肿瘤，颅底CT和MRI检查评估后，接受全身麻醉下改良上颌骨外旋入路切除手术。5例患者均一次性整块切除肿瘤。4例患者切缘阴性，1例腺样囊性癌患者神经切缘阳性并接受术后放疗。术后常见并发症为面部皮肤麻木。随访时间12~57个月，无死亡病例。1例患者肿瘤于颞下窝处复发，于外院再次手术切除；其余患者均无复发。改良上颌骨外旋入路具有术野宽敞，暴露好，便于直视下操作等优点，可为翼腭窝及颞下窝原发恶性肿瘤整块切除提供新的解决方案。.

To investigate the expression of micro ribonucleic acid-330 (miR-330) in breast cancer tissues and cancer-adjacent tissues as well as the correlations of the miR-330 expression with clinicopathological features and the prognosis of breast cancer patients.The expression levels of miR-330 in cancer tissues and cancer-adjacent tissues of 120 breast cancer patients with complete follow-up data were detected via the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Meanwhile, the expression level of miR-330 in serum of breast cancer patients was measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The correlations of the expression level of miR-330 with clinicopathological data and the prognosis of breast cancer patients were explored.The expression level of miR-330 in breast cancer tissues was remarkably higher than that in cancer-adjacent tissues, and it was also higher in serum of breast cancer patients than that of healthy controls. In breast cancer patients with axillary lymph node metastasis, the proportion of patients with the high expression of miR-330 [30/54 (55.6%)] was markedly larger than that of patients with the low expression of miR-330 [6/30 (20%)] (p=0.003). In terms of tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage, the proportion of patients with the high expression of miR-330 in stage II or above was evidently larger than that of patients with the low expression of miR-330, in which the proportion was 46/60 (77.2%) in stage III and 11/15 (73.3%) in stage IV (p=0.002). Additionally, the tumor size, the histological grade, the expression of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), the expression of hormone receptors and the tissue type, were not related to the expression level of miR-330 (p0.05). It was manifested in the survival curve that the median survival time was 84.8 months in the miR-330 high expression group and 96.8 months in the miR-330 low expression group, displaying a statistical difference (p=0.01).MiR-330 is highly expressed in cancer tissues and serum of patients with breast cancer, and it can promote the axillary lymph node metastasis, which is an important factor affecting the prognosis of breast cancer patients. However, no obvious correlations of the expression level of miR-330 with the tumor size, the histological grade, the HER2 expression and the expression of estrogen receptors are found.

Theory and experiment are combined to gain an understanding of the electronic properties of OsO2, a poorly studied metallic oxide that crystallizes in the rutile structure. Hard and soft valence-band x-ray photoemission spectra of OsO2 single crystals are in broad agreement with the results of density-functional-theory calculations, aside from a feature shifted to high binding energy of the conduction band. The energy shift corresponds to the conduction electron plasmon energy measured by reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy. The plasmon satellite is reproduced by many-body perturbation theory.

目的 探讨芦可替尼（RUX）联合PTD方案（泼尼松+沙利度胺+达那唑）治疗骨髓纤维化（MF）的疗效和安全性。 方法 对符合2016年WHO的MF诊断标准的MF患者，采用芦可替尼（RUX）联合PTD方案治疗，并评价该方案的临床疗效、血细胞计数变化和不良反应。 结果 7例MF患者纳入研究，其中原发性骨髓纤维化（PMF）6例，原发性血小板增多症后骨髓纤维化（post-ET MF）1例；JAK2V617F突变4例，CARL突变1例，MPLW515突变1例，以上3种始动基因突变均阴性1例。7例患者治疗前均有肋缘下可触及的脾肿大。7例患者中5例获得临床改善，2例疾病稳定。7例患者均有不同程度的临床症状改善，6例患者有不同程度的脾脏缩小。3例患者接受芦可替尼单药治疗，均出现不同程度的血红蛋白浓度和血小板计数下降，改用芦可替尼联合PTD方案后血红蛋白浓度和血小板计数均明显上升。所有7例接受芦可替尼联合PTD方案治疗患者的血红蛋白浓度中位上升值为30（18~54）g/L，血小板计数中位上升值为116（13~369）×109/L，其中3例患者因血小板计数明显上升而调高芦可替尼剂量。全部7例患者均未发生血液学不良反应，未发生Ⅲ/Ⅳ级非血液学不良反应，Ⅰ/Ⅱ级非血液学不良反应包括便秘、腹胀、下肢水肿、丙氨酸转氨酶升高和齿龈感染各1例。 结论 芦可替尼联合泼尼松、沙利度胺和达那唑治疗MF患者，可减少芦可替尼的血液学不良反应，使血红蛋白和血小板计数上升、提高临床疗效，且安全性好。

Wide bandgap oxide semiconductors constitute a unique class of materials that combine properties of electrical conductivity and optical transparency. They are being widely used as key materials in optoelectronic device applications, including flat-panel displays, solar cells, OLED, and emerging flexible and transparent electronics. In this article, an up-to-date review on both the fundamental understanding of materials physics of oxide semiconductors, and recent research progress on design of new materials and high-performing thin film transistor (TFT) devices in the context of fundamental understanding is presented. In particular, an in depth overview is first provided on current understanding of the electronic structures, defect and doping chemistry, optical and transport properties of oxide semiconductors, which provide essential guiding principles for new material design and device optimization. With these principles, recent advances in design of p-type oxide semiconductors, new approaches for achieving cost-effective transparent (flexible) electrodes, and the creation of high mobility 2D electron gas (2DEG) at oxide surfaces and interfaces with a wealth of fascinating physical properties of great potential for novel device design are then reviewed. Finally, recent progress and perspective of oxide TFT based on new oxide semiconductors, 2DEG, and low-temperature solution processed oxide semiconductor for flexible electronics will be reviewed.

Hybrid carbon-coated transition metal oxides (TMOs@C) offer enhanced lithium storage capabilities, but the facile formation of TMOs@C nanocomposites remains a great challenge. Herein, we report a novel hierarchical hybrid nanostructure of carbon-coated CoFe2O4 twin elliptical frustums (CoFe2O4@C TEFs) via a quick one-pot refluxing reaction in ethylene glycol (EG) followed by an annealing treatment. When evaluated as an anode in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), the resultant CoFe2O4@C TEF hybrids demonstrate good electrochemical performance with high reversible specific capacity, excellent rate capability and super-long life cycle. After 600 cycles at a current density of 500 mA g−1, the resultant TEFs still deliver a stable reversible discharge capacity of 875 mA h g−1. This work demonstrates the extensive potential of such simple synthetic methods towards various carbon coated transition metal oxide composites for energy conversion and storage devices.

Two-dimensional graphene is easy to aggregate and hard to transfer because of the van der Waals forces between graphene layers. The three-dimensional (3D) graphite-like capsules (GCs) disperse well and exhibit robust structural stability and have a potential for promising applications in energy storage, drug delivery, catalyst substrate, etc. Here, we develop a catalytic chemical vapor deposition route for the synthesis of 3D GCs with unprecedented thickness and morphology control. The theoretical results indicate that the strong chemisorption and charge transfer between ZnO and acetylene allow the layer-by-layer formation of GCs that is later confirmed by the experimental data. The cycloidal propeller for a Micro-Aerial Vehicle (MAV)-scale cyclogyro in hover was studied using a 2D Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations solver. The effects of the blade dynamic stall, parallel Blade Vortex Interaction (BVI), inflow variation and flow curvature were discussed, based on the results of numerical simulation. The results from the 2D Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation indicated that the blade of the cycloidal rotor is actually performing a pitching oscillation, if observed in a moving reference frame. The dynamic stall vortices shed from the upstream blade cause intense parallel BVI on the downstream blade. The interaction will induce upwash and downwash on the downstream blade. This changes the effective reduced frequency and actually delays the stall of the blade, which is beneficial to the thrust generation. There is also strong downwash in the rotor cage and it changes the inflow velocity experienced by the blade. The downwash and flow curvature can either be beneficial or harmful to the thrust generation. The combined effects of dynamic stall, parallel BVI, inflow variation and flow curvature cause large aerodynamic force peaks and ensure the cycloidal rotors work at very low rotation speeds with high thrust. This guarantees that the cycloidal rotors possess at least the same level of hover efficiency as screw propellers.

Very few industrial processes only produce the target product, but other materials not desired by the manufacturer are also obtained. These unwanted products constitute the residues of the processes and their discharge contributes to the overall environmental impact. The concept of preventing pollution is gaining increased importance, and certain industries that are particularly similar in nature, could benefit from PPP (Pollution Prevention Program) cross-fertilization. Implementing PPP sets important targets and benefits. A number of codes of good practice lead to PPP, both from a management and technical viewpoints. The fast development of technology and pollution standards implies important challenges for environmental engineers, environmental research and development. Although there is no general route to success, there are however a number of pollution prevention and waste reduction schemes that apply. These alternatives and procedures are illustrated in the paper. It is clear that environment-caring companies will be more readily accepted by their human environment. It is also evident that the engineer of the 21st century faces new and complex environmental challenges. Research remains the backbone of successful development.

In order to solve these problems, based on the LabVIEW2013 as platforms and the hardware of sensor and data acquisition card, combined with the serial communication program to design the flow measurement system, getting traffic through the information collected data and the data acquisition card to convey in the program, get traffic after processing, according to flow to calculate the hydraulic balance, judging by the imbalance rate and the degree of hydraulic balance pipeline system is in a state of hydraulic balance. At last, through the actual test analysis, it is concluded that the flow measurement system for the conclusion of practical application, it not only can be used for pipe flow measurement and equilibrium state judgment, and also to have certain security on accuracy.

Indium oxide is widely used as a transparent electrode in optoelectronic devices and as a photocatalyst with activity for reduction of CO2. However, very little is known about the structural and electronic properties of its surfaces, particularly those prepared under reducing conditions. In this report, directional "lone-pair" surface states associated with filled 5s2 orbitals have been identified on vacuum-annealed In2O3(111) through a combination of hard and soft X-ray photoemission spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations. The lone pairs reside on indium ad-atoms in a formal +1 oxidation state, each of which traps two electrons into a localized hybrid orbital protruding away from the surface and lying just above the valence band maximum in photoemission spectra. The third electron associated with the ad-atoms is delocalized into the conduction band, thus producing the surface electron accumulation layer identified previously on vacuum-annealed In2O3(111) (1 × 1) surfaces. The surface structure is further supported by low-energy electron diffraction, but there is no chemical shift in indium core level X-ray photoelectron spectra between surface In(I) ad-atoms and bulk In(III). The 5s2 lone pairs confer Lewis basicity on the surface In sites and may have a pronounced impact on the catalytic or photocatalytic activity of reduced In2O3.

The aim of this study was to explore the effect of depression of different degrees on inflammatory response and immune function in patients with ovarian cancer. One hundred and eight cases of ovarian cancer according to the Federation Internationale of Gynecologie and Obstetrigue (FIGO) stage II~III who visited the Gynecology Department of Affiliated HongQi Hospital of MuDanJiang Medical University between September 2015 and May 2017 were enrolled in the study. After being hospitalized, they were divided into two groups according to their Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) scores. The total score of BDI is 63, with 0~4 for the normal group (25 cases), 5~13 for the mild depression group (24 cases), 14~20 for the moderate depression group (28 cases), and 21~63 for the severe depression group (31 cases). The immune function, inflammatory reaction, tumor markers [CA125, human epididymis protein-4 (HE4), insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I)], platelet technology and D-dimer index were compared between the four groups. The results showed that there were different levels of depression in patients with ovarian cancer in II~III stage, and the degree of depression could stimulate the level of serum-6, and TNF -α in serum increased. The proportion of CD3+, CD4+ and NK cells in patients with severe depression decreased, and their immunity also decreased. Depression increased the levels of CA125, HE4 and IGF-I in serum and ascites of ovarian cancer patients, and increased the risk of tumor progression and recurrence. Hypercoagulability existed in patients with ovarian cancer, and tumor associated depression could increase platelet count in plasma and increase D-dimer level. To sum up, depression can affect the level of micro inflammation in patients with ovarian cancer. In particular, depression can reduce cellular immune responses, affect the progression free survival of ovarian cancer patients, and reduce their overall survival rate.

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects and mechanism of miRNA-31 in synovial cells apoptosis induced by RA. METHODS The miRNA-31 gene expressions were extracted from synovial tissues of normal and RA patients by RT-PCR and H et E staining. The synovial cells of RA patients were isolated and randomly divided into Control, Blank and miRNA groups. The cell apoptosis of difference groups were measured by flow cytometry; the TNF-α and IL-1β concentrations of difference groups were measured by Elisa assay; TLR4 and NF-κB proteins expressions were measured by WB assay and the correlation between TLR4 and miRNA-31 were evaluated by double luciferase target experiment. Silver–bismuth double perovskites have recently gained attention, but evaluating their carrier lifetime and recombination mechanisms from photoluminescence measurements is challenging due to their indirect bandgap. In this work, transient absorption spectroscopy is used to directly track the photocarrier population in Cs2AgBiBr6 by measuring the ground state bleach dynamics. A small initial drop is resolved in the ground state bleach on a picosecond timescale, after which the remaining photocarriers decay monoexponentially with a lifetime of 1.4 µs. The majority of the early-time decay is attributed to hot-carrier thermalization from the direct transition to the indirect bandgap, and the 1.4 µs lifetime represents the recombination of most photocarriers. From this lifetime, a steady-state excess carrier density of 2.2 × 1016 cm−3 under 1 sun is calculated, which is an order of magnitude larger than that for methylammonium lead iodide, suggesting that charge transport and extraction can be efficient in Cs2AgBiBr6 solar cells.

To investigate the effect of miR-146a gene silencing on brain tissue and related drug-resistance proteins in rats and explore its resistance mechanism.A rat model of chronic refractory epilepsy was established. The rats were divided into four groups: Normal group, Model group, Negative control group and AntagomiR-146a group. Hematoxylin and eosin (HE) stain was used to detect brain histopathological changes. We examined the expression of mRNA of miR-146a, multidrug resistance (MDR1) and multidrug-resistant associated protein (MRP1) by RT-PCR. The expressions of protein of High motility group box 1 (HMGB1)/Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/nuclear transcription factor-κB (NF-κB) pathway and P-glycoprotein (P-gp), MRP1 were detected by Western-blotting.We demonstrated that the pathological lesion was lighter in antagomiR-146a group compared with the model group. The mRNA expression of miR-146a in AntagomiR-146a group was significantly decreased compared to the model group. Furthermore, the mRNA expression of MDR1 and MRP1 in AntagomiR-146a group was lower than that in the model group. In addition, the protein expression of HMGB1, TLR4, NF-κB and P-gp, MRP1 in AntagomiR-146a group was lower than that in model group.These results demonstrated that miR-146a gene silencing can attenuate pathological changes and improve drug resistance in refractory epilepsy. Also, it is closely related to the HMGB1/TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway regulation.

Transparent oxide semiconductors hold great promise for many optoelectronic devices such as transparent electronics, UV-emitting devices, and photodetectors. A p-n heterojunction is the most ubiquitous building block to realize these devices. In this work, we report the fabrication and characterization of the interface properties of a transparent heterojunction consisting of p-type NiO and n-type perovskite BaSnO3. We show that high-quality NiO thin films can be epitaxially grown on BaSnO3 with sharp interfaces because of a small lattice mismatch (∼1.3%). The diode fabricated from this heterojunction exhibits rectifying behavior with a ratio of 500. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveals a type II or "staggered" band alignment with valence and conduction band offsets of 1.44 eV and 1.86 eV, respectively. Moreover, a large upward band bending potential of 0.90 eV for BaSnO3 and a downward band bending potential of 0.15 eV for NiO were observed in the interface region. Such electronic properties have important implication for optoelectronic applications as the large built-in potential provides favorable energetics for photo-generated electron-hole separation/migration.

The study aims to detect the association of miR-146a-5p with intracranial aneurysms (IAs).The expression of miR-146a-5p was compared from plasma samples between 72 patients with intracranial aneurysms (IAs) and 40 healthy volunteers by quantitative Real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Statistical analysis was performed to analyze the relationship between miR-146a-5p expression and clinical data and overall survival (OS) time of IAs patients. Univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards have also been performed.Notably, higher miR-146a-5p expression was found in plasma samples from 72 patients with intracranial aneurysms (IAs) compared with 40 healthy controls. Higher miR-146a-5p expression was significantly associated with rupture and Hunt-Hess level in IAs patients. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis verified that higher miR-146a-5p expression predicted a shorter overall survival (OS) compared with lower miR-146a-5p expression in IAs patients. Univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards demonstrated that higher miR-146a-5p expression, rupture, and Hunt-Hess were independent risk factors of OS in patients with intracranial aneurysms (IAs).MiR-146a-5p expression may serve as a biomarker for predicting prognosis in patients with IAs.

To explore the role of transgelin-2 TAGLN2 in the development and progression of meningioma and the potential regulatory.TAGLN2 knockdown expression and overexpression in vitro models were constructed using lentivirus in meningioma cell line CH157; their corresponding transfection efficiencies were verified by qRT-PCR and Western Blot. Actions of TAGLN2 on the proliferation of meningioma cells were explored by CCK8 and colony formation assays. The effect of TAGLN2 on invasion of meningioma cells was analyzed by transwell cell invasion assay. Biological function of TAGLN2 on apoptosis of meningioma cells was determined by flow cytometry. Finally, Western Blot was used to investigate the detailed mechanism of TAGLN2 on regulating the biological functions of meningioma cells.After down-regulating the expression of TAGLN2, there were significantly decreased capacities of cells proliferation and colony formation of meningioma cells, meanwhile, cell invasion was significantly decreased but the apoptosis rate was increased. On the contrary, up-regulation of TAGLN2 expression, the proliferation, colony formation ability were significantly increased as well as the invasion capacity, whilst apoptosis rate was decreased. Western Blot showed that expressions of p-PI3K and p-AKT were inhibited after knockdown of TAGLN2, which were significantly increased after TAGLN2 was overexpressed.TAGLN2 can affect the proliferation, invasion and apoptosis of meningioma cells and may participate in the development of meningioma through regulating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.

A novel ladder-like polymeric silver(I) complex, [Ag2L2] n •2nH2O, where L is 3-aminopyrazine- 2-carboxylate, was obtained by the reaction of 3-aminopyrazine-2-carboxylic acid and silver oxide in aqueous ammonia. The complex was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and single crystal X-ray determination. The smallest repeat unit contains a [Ag2L2] moiety and two water molecules. The Ag•••Ag distance is 3.176(1) A. Each Ag atom is in a Y-shaped coordination, with one carboxylate O and two pyrazine N atoms from two ligands. In the crystal structure of the complex, the dinuclear silver moieties are linked through 3-aminopyrazine-2-carboxylate ligands, to form 1D ladder-like chain along the b axis. The water molecules are linked to the silver chain through hydrogen bonds. There are π•••π interactions between the chains. The complex showed effective cytotoxic property on human lung cancer cell line A549.

Two mononuclear manganese(III) complexes, [MnL1(OH2)(CH3OH)]·ClO4 (1) and [MnL2] (2), where L1 and L2 are the deprotonated forms of N,N′-bis(5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzylidene)ethane-1,2-diamine and tris{2-[(3,5-dichlorosalicylidene)amino]ethyl}amine, respectively, are obtained by the reaction of Schiff bases with manganese perchlorate in methanol. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, and single crystal X-ray determination. In both complexes, Mn atoms are in the octahedral coordination. In the crystal structure of complex 1, the complex molecules are linked by water ligands through intermolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to form dimers. The perchlorate anions are linked to the complex molecules through intermolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal structure of complex 2, the molecules are stacked along the y axis through π⋯π interactions. The catalytic oxidation on olefins of the complexes is studied.

Gas transport in the porous electrode plays a crucial role in the performance of fuel cells. Inthis work, gas convection caused by temperature gradient, typically ignored in the analysis of gastransport in fuel cells, has been evaluated quantitatively. The correlation of gas convection with gas pressure and electrode thickness is investigated systematically. In addition, limiting current density loss caused by temperature gradient and the associated concentration polarization (CP) are evaluated analytically. Our work facilitates a comprehensive understanding of gas transport in electrodes and the improvement in the electrochemical performances of fuel cells.

Introducing lattice mismatch-induced tensile strain at hetero-interfaces may be an efficient approach to enhance ionic conductivity at moderate temperatures. Extensive theoretical and experimental research has focused on strain-versus-ionic conductivity correlations. However, the correlation between strain and ionic conductivity still lacks a systematic and quantitative investigation. In this report, we derive an analytical expression to evaluate quantitatively the strain-induced enhancement in ionic conductivity. We demonstrate that simulation and experimental data in the literature, are well explained in the framework of our derived expressions. Our studies provide a powerful platform for quantitatively designing and engineering heterostructure interfaces for a number of applications, including fuel cells/batteries and optical/magnetic devices.

Slow air transport in the cathodes limits the performance of the metal-air battery. In this work, the diffusion mechanisms in the lithium-air battery have been investigated. It has been found that Knudsen diffusivity can be influenced dramatically by the different pore sizes while bulk diffusivity is almost a constant at a fixed temperature. Limiting current density and concentration polarization, both limited by impeded gas diffusion in the porous cathode, have been evaluated systematically. The analysis of the correlation between those electrochemical parameters and diffusivities improves the quantitative evaluation of gas-based batteries at various materials and operation conditions.

The mixed electronic and ionic conductivity of perovskite oxides has enabled their use in diverse applications such as automotive exhaust catalysts, solid oxide fuel cell cathodes, and visible light photocatalysts. The redox chemistry at the surface of perovskite oxides is largely dependent on the oxidation state of the metal cations as well as the oxide surface stoichiometry. In this study, LaFeO3 (LFO) thin films grown on yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) was characterized using both bulk and surface sensitive techniques. A combination of in situ reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS) demonstrated that the film is primarily textured in the [1 0 0] direction and is stoichiometric. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy measurements show regions that are dominated by [1 0 0] oriented LFO grains that are oriented with respect to the substrates lattice. However, selected regions of the film show multiple domains of grains that are not [1 0 0] oriented. The film was annealed in an ultra-high vacuum chamber to simulate reducing conditions and studied by angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Iron was found to exist as Fe(0), Fe(II), and Fe(III) depending on the annealing conditions and the depth within the film. A decrease in the concentration of surface oxygen species was correlated with iron reduction. These results should help guide and enhance the design of LFO materials for catalytic applications.

The Mn atoms in both complexes are in octahedral coordination. Complex I crystallized in orthorhombic space group Pbca with unit cell dimensions a = 12.4090(4), b = 13.5432(5), c = 19.4637(7) A, V = 3271.0(2) A3, Z = 8, R1 = 0.0423, wR2 = 0.0922. Complex II crystallized in triclinic space group \(P\bar 1\) with unit cell dimensions a = 7.6845(3), b = 88.984(2), c = 13.5522(7) A, α = 78.369(1)°, β = 88.984(2)°, γ = 83.835(1)°, V = 1237.63(9) A3, Z = 2, R1 = 0.0526, wR2 = 0.1421. In the crystal structure of I, the complex molecules are stack via π⋯π interactions along the y axis. In the crystal structure of II, the molecules are linked through intermolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, to form chains along the x axis. The catalytic oxidation on olefins of the complexes was studied.

Prohormone convertase 1/3 is a serine endoprotease belonging to the subtilisin-like proprotein convertase family that is encoded by the proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 1 (PCSK1) gene, and its major function is the processing and bioactivation of the proproteins of many kinds of neuroendocrine hormones, including insulin, cholecystokinin, and adrenocorticotropic hormone. The results of our previous genomewide association study indicated that the PCSK1 gene might be an important candidate gene for fatness traits in chickens. The objectives of this study were to investigate the tissue expression profiles of PCSK1 gene and to identify functional variants associated with fatness and growth traits in the chicken. The results indicated that PCSK1 mRNA was widely expressed in various tissues, especially neuroendocrine and intestinal tissues. Of these 2 tissue types, PCSK1 mRNA expression in lean males was significantly higher than in fat males. A SNP in the 3′ untranslated region of PCSK1 (c.*900G > A) was identified. Association analysis in the Arbor Acres commercial broiler population and Northeast Agricultural University broiler lines divergently selected for abdominal fat content (NEAUHLF) population showed that the SNP c.*900G > A was associated with abdominal fat weight, abdominal fat percentage, BW, metatarsus length, and metatarsal circumference. In the 5th to 19th generation (G5 to G19) of NEAUHLF, the allele frequency of c.*900G > A changed along with selection for abdominal fat content. At G19, allele G of c.*900G > A was predominate in the lean line, whereas allele A was predominate in the fat line. Functional analysis demonstrated that allele A of c.*900G > A reduced mRNA stability and consequently downregulated gene expression. These results suggested that c.*900G > A was a functional SNP for fatness and growth traits in the chicken. The results of this study provide basic molecular information for the role of PCSK1 gene in avian growth and development, especially obesity.

Catalytic conversion of CO

Inefficient gas transport in the porous cathode is disastrous for the lithium–air battery to achieve a high electrochemical performance. Previous evaluation of the cathode diffusivity relies on indirect calculations based on multiple V–I data obtained over the intact battery system, which inevitably induces evaluation uncertainty and material waste. In this report, an electrochemical device is designed for the out-of-cell diffusivity measurement in the lithium–air battery with micro/nano-sized cathodes. With the measured diffusivity, a few electrochemical parameters including the limiting current density and the concentration polarization associated with the porous cathodes can thus be directly evaluated. The work facilitates the development of highly-efficient cathode materials in the general field of metal–air battery field.

Oriented attachment (OA) growth has been a promising method for the synthesis of one dimensional (1D) anisotropic nanocrystals (NCs). An unresolved fundamental issue is to understand the growth mechanism at the initial stage of an OA nanorod (NR) growth. In this report, a collision–recrystallization model is proposed to investigate the initial OA growth of NRs. The repulsive electrical double layer (EDL) interaction and the attractive van der Waals (vdW) interaction at the initial OA stage are derived by the accurate surface element integration (SEI) technique and the classical Hamaker equation, respectively. Our results show that the self-recrystallization of nanochains increases the collision activation energy of NPs dramatically as their surface potentials and Hamaker constants increase. Under a specific electrolyte concentration, the collision activation energy reaches the maximum, indicating that the growth rate of OA can be controlled by adjusting the electrolyte concentration.

The development of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is always followed by changes in vascular endothelial cells that are related to the reactivity of the homocysteine (Hcy) sulfhydryl group. In this meta-analysis, we investigated the association of Hcy with the pathogenesis and progression of DPN. We screened the Embase, Ovid, PubMed, Web of Science, Wangfang, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases. All analyses were performed by using the STATA software, version 12.0 (StataCorp, College Station, TX, USA) and the Comprehensive Meta-analysis 2.0 software (Biostatic Inc., Englewood, NJ, USA). The standardized mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence interval (95%CI) were further calculated. The electronic literature search identified six articles that included 603 patients with DPN and 687 healthy controls. The pooled SMD of those six studies revealed that increased serum levels of Hcy may be correlated with DPN (SMD = 1.23, 95%CI: 1.09-1.36, P < 0.001). Subgroup analysis according to ethnicity indicated that high serum Hcy levels might be an important risk factor for DPN in both Asian and Caucasian populations (Asians: SMD = 0.62, 95%CI: 0.45-0.79, P < 0.001; Caucasians: SMD = 2.32, 95%CI: 2.10-2.55, P < 0.001; respectively). Elevated serum levels of Hcy indicate the risk of development of DPN in patients, suggesting that Hcy levels could be used as a marker for new therapeutic approaches to DPN.

The aim of the present study was to study the effects of arachidonic acid (ARA) in a rat brain ischemia/reperfusion model induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). A total of 50 rats were randomly divided into five groups: control group, MCAO group, MCAO + ARA 0.3 g/kg group, MCAO + ARA 1 g/kg group, and MCAO + ARA 3 g/kg group. The MCAO + ARA groups received ARA by intraperitoneal injection daily for 14 consecutive days, while the rats in the control and MCAO groups were given equivalent volume of saline. We detected the Morris water maze test and pathological changes to investigate the ischemia/reperfusion injury. The protein levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-6 in the hippocampus were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits. In addition, the activities of superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and malondialdehyde were assayed in hippocampus homogenates to evaluate the oxidative stress after ischemia/reperfusion. The results indicated that ARA administration decreased biochemical parameters of inflammation and oxidative stress. Morris water maze test and histopathological examination further verified the protective effects of ARA on ischemia/reperfusion injury rats. These findings demonstrated that ARA could protect MCAO-induced brain injury rats by inhibition of inflammation and oxidative stress, suggesting that it may have potential as a therapy for cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.

$\mathrm{L}{\mathrm{a}}_{0.9}\mathrm{B}{\mathrm{a}}_{0.1}\mathrm{Mn}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ is a ferromagnetic insulator in its bulk form, but exhibits metallicity in thin-film form. It has a wide potential in a range of spintronic-related applications, and hence it is critical to understand thickness-dependent electronic structure in thin films as well as substrate/film interface effects. Here, using electrical and in situ photoemission spectroscopy measurements, we report the electronic structure and interface band profile of high-quality layer-by-layer-grown $\mathrm{L}{\mathrm{a}}_{0.9}\mathrm{B}{\mathrm{a}}_{0.1}\mathrm{Mn}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ on single-crystal $\mathrm{Nb}:\mathrm{SrTi}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ substrates. A transition from insulating-to-conducting was observed with increasing $\mathrm{L}{\mathrm{a}}_{0.9}\mathrm{B}{\mathrm{a}}_{0.1}\mathrm{Mn}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ thickness, which was explained by the determined interface band diagram of $\mathrm{L}{\mathrm{a}}_{0.9}\mathrm{B}{\mathrm{a}}_{0.1}\mathrm{Mn}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$/$\mathrm{Nb}:\mathrm{SrTi}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$, where a type II heterojunction was formed.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between sleep disorders in acute thalamus stroke patients and plasma IL-17 levels and the mechanism through which inflammatory reactions develop in stroke. The study included two groups of patients: an experimental group consisting of 30 patients with thalamus stroke who received treatment at the Affiliated Hong Qi Hospital of Mu Dan Jiang Medical University during October 2015 to October 2016 and a control group consisting of 15 healthy volunteers. All the subjects included in the study were biochemically monitored for blood glucose, blood fats and IL-17 plasma levels. The sleep quality of all the subjects included in the study was evaluated [Epwort, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI)] with 8-hour Polysonmography (PSG) monitoring. The experimental group was divided into 3 subgroups according to the part of the brain affected by stroke: anterior thalamus nucleus group, lateral thalamus nucleus group and medial thalamus nucleus group. The differences were analyzed between the experimental group and the control group in sleep quality scores, sleep structural changes, and plasma IL-17 levels. The differences in sleep structural scores were also analyzed according to different parts of the brain affected by stroke. The experimental group had a higher PSQI score compared with the control group, but this difference had no statistical significance (p0.05). Compared with the control group, the N1 phase of the experimental group was longer while the N2 and N3 phases were shorter (p0.05). There were no differences in sleep structure between the three regions of the brain affected by stroke (anterior thalamus nucleus group, lateral thalamus nucleus group and medial thalamus nucleus group) (p0.05). The plasma levels of IL-17 in the experimental group was higher compared to the control group (p0.05). In the experimental group, the patients with hypersomnia had higher IL-17 levels than patients without hypersomnia (p0.01). We can conclude that PSG can be used as an electrophysiology index for early detection of sleep disorders in thalamus stroke patients. Sleep disorders in patients with thalamus stroke persist a long time after the incident, therefore monitoring their sleep structure may become an important index to predict the prognosis of the disease. The increased level of IL-17 level in the experimental group shows its implication in appearance of sleep disorders of acute thalamus stroke through inflammatory mechanism.
