Gemessen wurden Warmeubergang und Widerstand in 15 quer angestromten Rohrbundeln, bei denen Form und Anordnung der Rohre verschieden waren. Die Versuche bei 11 at mit glatten Rohren und Rippenrohren bestatigten erneut die Ahnlichkeitstheorie sehr gut. Formeln aus Ahnlichkeitsgrosen konnen also unbedenklich fur Gase und Flussigkeiten angewendet werden. Durch die eigenen Messungen wird der Anwendungsbereich bekannter Gleichungen fur den Warmeubergang an Bundeln mit glatten Rohren bis auf Reynolds-Zahlen von 150 000 ausgedehnt. -- Im zweiten Teil dieser Arbeit wird der Einflus der Rippen- und Rohranordnung untersucht.

Gasstromungen in einem innen berieselten, senkrechten Rohr findet man in der Praxis bei der Kondensation, Absorption, Rektifikation und Verdampfung. Ausgehend von bisher unerklarbaren experimentellen Ergebnissen werden theoretische Beziehungen abgeleitet, die es ermoglichen, das Verhalten solcher Gasstromungen zu deuten. Aus den theoretischen Beziehungen fur das Widerstandsgesetz werden fur die auftretenden Stromungsbereiche einfache und leicht zu handhabende Gesetze entwickelt. Auf interessante Sonderfalle wird ausfuhrlich eingegangen.

Fur die Praxis ist vor allem wichtig, den Druckverlust des Dampfes beim Durchstromen der Fullkorperschuttung und den Flussigkeitsinhalt der Fullkorperschuttung zu kennen. Hierfur werden die masgebenden Gesetze mittels dimensionsloser Kennzahlen aufgestellt.

Der piezooptische Effekt in Kristallen, speziell in Kristallen der Klassen m3m und 43 m des regularen Systems wird erlautert. Unter Beachtung der Symmetrieeigenschaften wird eine Methode zur Messung der Spannungsdoppelbrechungskonstanten (q11 – q12) und q44 an einer einzigen Materialprobe vorgeschlagen und an Si- und GaAs-Einkristallen praktisch angewendet. Zur Messung der Spannungsdoppelbrechungskonstanten wurde eine Apparatur entwickelt, die mit groser Genauigkeit quantitative Bestimmungen erlaubt. Zur Probenpraparation wurden mehrere Verfahren untersucht. Die Messungen an verschiedenen Si- bzw. GaAs-Einkristallen ergaben unterschiedliche spannungsoptische Werte, die mit den bisher in der Literatur angegebenen Werten verglichen werden. Es wird gezeigt, das der Begriff „spannungsoptische Konstante” nicht als Materialkonstante, sondern als kristallindividueller Wert aufgefast werden mus. Unter Verwendung der gemessenen spannungsoptischen Werte werden die Restspannungen in kompakten Einkristallen aus Doppelbrechungsmessungen an dicken Scheiben rekonstruiert. The piezooptic effect in crystals is explained, in particular for cubic classes m3m and 43 m. Taking in consideration the properties of symmetry, a method is proposed for measuring the piezobirefringence constants (q11 – q12) and q44 in a single sample only, and its application to Si- and GaAs-single crystals is shown. A device was constructed for exact measurement of the piezobirefringence constants. Some methods for the preparation of the samples were examined. The measurements on different Si- and GaAs-single crystals lead to different photoelastic values. These values are discussed in comparision to values published up to now in the literature. It is shown that the terminus „photoelastic constant” cannot be used in the meaning of material constant, because these values are specific for every crystal. Taking into consideration the photoelastic values measured the residual stresses in crystal ingots are reconstructed by birefringence measurements on thick slices.

Bei Rippenabstanden von 2 bis 4 mm wurde die Rippenhohe zwischen 2 und 15 mm geandert und der Warmeubergang in diesen Rippenrohrbundeln gemessen. Er wird durch ungunstige Stromungsverhaltnisse in den Ecken zwischen Rippe und Kernrohr beeintrachtigt. Ferner wurde der Einflus der Rohrreihenzahl auf die Warmeubertragung und den Stromungswiderstand untersucht. Beide werden mit zunehmender Rohrreihenzahl Kleiner. Die Reynolds-Zahl des stromenden Mediums hat dabei aber nur auf die Warmeubergangszahl einen grosen Einflus.

Fur die Berechnung des Warmeuberganges beim Verdampfen von Flussigkeiten unter den in technischen Apparaten auftretenden Bedingungen gibt es bereits mehrere Formeln. Diese werden miteinander verglichen, um dabei ihre Unterschiede herauszustellen. Zur Klarung der noch bestehenden Unsicherheiten wurden viele fruhere Versuchsergebnisse des Verfassers herangezogen. Dabei stellte sich heraus, das alle Gleichungen einen ahnlichen Aufbau haben, obgleich ihnen sehr verschiedene Modellvorstellungen zugrunde liegen.

The effectiveness of day hospital care of geriatric psychiatric patients was evaluated in a pilot study. The main aspect was the training of social competence, i.e. a training leading to growing personal independence of the demands of every day life, such as hygiene , fitness considering the household, etc. During day hospital treatment a significant improvement regarding social competence was attained. A one year follow-up showed a moderate decline in the patients' performances of the earlier trained skills.

Reported in this paper is the case of a woman, 43 years of age, with malignant haemangiopericytoma. The patient had undergone radical surgery and irradiation, following diagnosis of globucellular sarcoma. Metastasis occurred after an interval of six years from surgery. Histological checks revealed a pattern typical of haemangiopericytoma. The patient died one year later. - Morphology, incidence, clinical aspects, and general importance of this rare tumour are discussed against the background of relevant literature. The point is made that histological diagnosis may be quite difficult and that there is only limited possibility to draw conclusions from the morphological pattern of the tumour as to its biological importance.

Chronic psychiatric patients (N = 42) predominantly diagnosed as schizophrenics, who had been hospitalized for the mean of 9 years were treated in a double-blind study with a neurotropic drug (tamitinol dihydrochloride coated tablets of 300 mg t.i.d.) and placebo. Test drugs were administered concomitantly to the existing drug therapy during two treatment periods of 6 weeks each with an interval of two months free of test medication. In the second treatment period patients moved to a new building. It was expected that neurotropic drug effects can be made clearer after the transfer requiring patient's reorientation in a new environment than before the transfer. Assessment of efficacy was made using observer ratings (Psychic and Somatic Findings of the A.M.P. System, WING Behaviour Rating Scale) and patient's self ratings (Adjective Check List. List of Somatic Symptoms) and clinical laboratory parameters. Results show that neurotropic co-medication reduced the "neurological syndrome" and the "psychoorganic syndrome" (A.M.P. System). An amelioration of the "neurological syndrome" was observed at the end of the first and at the end of the second medication phase (p less than or equal to 0.10) whilst the improvement of the "psychoorganic syndrome" was particularly evident as expected after the transfer to the new building (p less than or equal to 0.001) Patients receiving placebo described themselves as more active than patients receiving the test drug. No subjective or objective side effects (List of somatic symptoms and laboratory parameters) were evident due to the test medication which was tolerated by all patients.

For 341 patients treated with psychotropics over different periods of time and with different dosages laboratory examinations were carried out in order to discover as far as possible toxic damage of the parenchyma of liver, kidneys, and blood-formation systems. Statistically secured differences of some liver functions and of the serum creatinine between treated and untreated patients were seen for which, however, no sufficient indication of direct toxic damage was found. The deviations were interpreted as allergic and caused by enzyme induction.

A system has been established to study the 65Zn2+ uptake into enzymatically active whole rat-liver nuclei in vitro. The incubation conditions have been elucidated and it appears that 37°, 20 min and a Zn 2+ nuclei ratio of 1 nmole Zn2+ per 2.1 μg nuclear DNA are optimal. The rate of 65Zn2+ taken up by the nuclei has been found to deviate in the presence of different bioligands such as amino acids or nucleic acid derivatives. A marked stimulation of 65Zn2+ uptake can be observed with phosphate ions and nucleoside monophosphates. Ultrasonic treatment of nuclei suggests that most of the 65Zn2+ being absorbed in vitro might be located in the nuclear membrane. If a 10-h pulse of 65Zn2+ was applied to living rats a considerable amount of 65Zn2+ could be detected in the soluble fraction containing the nucleoplasma.
