The subject of the present research is the phytosociological study of some typologies of semideciduous and evergreen wood vegetation of the Apulia region, in the south-east of peninsular Italy. The associations, which have been defined on the basis of 152 phytosociological relevées and elaborated by cluster analysis methods, are: the Aleppo pine woods (Thymo capitati-Pinetum halepensis and Cyclamino hederifolii-Pinetum halepensis ass. nova), the cork oak woods, which in Apulia find the eastern limits of their distribution (Carici halleranae-Quercetum suberis ass. nova), the kermes oak shrubbery (Arbuto unedi-Quercetum calliprini) and woods (Hedero helicis-Quercetum calliprini ass. nova), the holm oak woods, which represent the major vegetational potentiality of the region (Cyclamino hederifolii-Quercetum ilicis, Cephalanthero longifoliae-Quercetum ilicis and Festuco exaltatae-Quercetum ilicis), the Trojan oak woods, which find the western limits of their distribution in the area of Murge, between Apulia and Basilicata (Euphorbio apii-Quercetum trojanae and Teucrio siculi-Quercetum trojanae), and the woods of Quercus virgiliana (Irido collinae-Quercetum virgilianae ass. nova and Cyclamino hederifolii-Quercetum virgilianae ass. nova) and of Quercus dalechampii (Stipo bromoidis-Quercetum dalechampii ass. nova.). Finally, the complete syntaxonomic scheme of the forest vegetation of Apulia is presented.

Objetivo: Relacionar las concentraciones de la alfafetoproteína (AFP) sérica con la ocurrencia de parto pre-término (PP) en embarazadas con y sin factores de riesgo (FR) atendidas en la Maternidad "Dr. Armando Castillo Plaza" en Maracaibo, Estado Zulia, Venezuela. Métodos: Investigación predictiva y comparativa aplicada, que incluyo 60 embarazadas con y sin FR para PP (n= 30 para cada grupo), a las que se les determinó la AFP sérica entre las 24-28 semanas de gestación, siguiéndose hasta la culminación del embarazo. Las deficiencias de oligoelementos es un importante problema de salud pública, que pone en riesgo principalmente a las embarazadas y a sus productos; por tanto se propuso determinar las concentraciones séricas de Hierro (Fe), Zinc (Zn) y Cobre (Cu) durante el primer trimestre del embarazo e identificar las patologías asociadas con su deficiencia durante el primer trimestre del embarazo, en embarazadas que acudían a la consulta prenatal de la Maternidad Dr. Armando Castillo Plaza del Hospital Universitario de Maracaibo, Venezuela durante el año 2012. Investigación fue de tipo descriptiva y aplicada; con un diseño de tipo no experimental y prospectivo, que incluyo una muestra no probabilística e intencionada de 70 mujeres en el primer trimestre del embarazo, a las cuales se les determinaron las concentraciones séricas de Fe, Zn y Cu. Se encontró que la edad promedio fue de 20,5± 6 años; 42,85% eran adolescentes y 57,15% adultas. Se determinó una media de FE, Zn y Cu de 40,04 ± 1,212 μg/dL, 0,566 ± 0,130 μg/mL y 1,326 ± 0,878 μg/mL, respectivamente; siendo las concentraciones de Fe y Zn más bajos en las adolescentes (< 0,001). Asimismo, se demostró que el 67%, 57% y 14% de estas embarazadas presentaban deficiencia de Fe, Zn y Cu, respectivamente; sin diferencias significativas entre adolescentes o adultas (p >0,05). Se concluye que existe una alta prevalencia de deficiencias de oligoelementos (Zn, Cu y Fe) en gestantes sin patologías asociadas y aparentemente sanas al inicio de su embarazo. Deficiencies of trace elements is an important public health problem that threatens mainly pregnant women and their products; we propose to determine serum iron (Fe), Zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) during the first trimester of pregnancy and identify the pathologies associated with a deficiency during the first trimester of pregnancy in pregnant women attending antenatal care at Maternity Dr. Armando Castillo Plaza, University Hospital of Maracaibo, Venezuela during 2012. A descriptive and applied type research, with a non-experimental and prospective design, which includes a non-probabilistic intentional sample of 70 women during the first trimester of pregnancy, which were measured in serum Fe, Zn and Cu. We found that the age mean was 20,5± 6 years; in terms of the concentrations of these trace elements was determined an average of Fe, Zn and Cu of 40,04 ± 1,212 μg/dL, 0,566 ± 0,130 μg/mL and 1,326 ± 0,878μg/mL, respectively; with concentrations of Fe and Zn lower in adolescents ( 0,05). Its concluded that exist a high prevalence of deficiencies of trace elements (Zn, Cu and Fe) in patients without associated diseases and apparently healthy at the beginning of her pregnancy.

Objetivo: Comparar las concentraciones séricas de zinc en embarazadas preeclámpticas y normotensas. Métodos: Investigación de tipo correlacional, comparativa y aplicada, con diseño de casos y controles. La cual incluyó a 40 mujeres en el tercer trimestre del embarazo con diagnóstico de preeclampsia y a 40 embarazas normotensas; tanto a los casos como a los controles se les determinó las concentraciones séricas de zinc, mediante la espectrofotometría de absorción atómica. Ambiente: Hospital Materno Infantil “Dr. Raúl Leoni” de Maracaibo. Resultados: Se encontró que las pacientes preeclámpticas presentaban significativamente concentraciones más bajas de zinc que las normotensas (P 0,05); mientras que en las normotensas se evidenció una relación significativa e inversamente proporcional (r = - 0,319; P 0.05), whereas in the normotensive group showed a significant and inversely proportional relationship (r = - 0.319, P

With the discovery of Transient Luminous Events above thunderclouds in 1990 and of Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes from thunderstorms in 1994, lightning physics has got a new impetus. Sprite discharges shooting downwards from the ionosphere are the first lightning phenomenon that can be quantitatively explained by the underlying discharge physics. Here precise observations, lab experiments and theory have jointly succeeded in explaining the observations. Furthermore, thunderstorms also emit gamma-ray flashes, electron bursts, and even substantial positron bursts that can be measured from satellites. I will review these observations, and I will sketch elements of physical understanding of this energetic radiation: electron run-away and local field enhancement.

Light emission and electrical characteristics in the early post-discharge of a high purity nitrogen streamer have been investigated. Up to the millisecond regime, both light emission and current are significant, while the voltage has decayed after several tens of microseconds. The corresponding decay time constants are 240 µs and 580 µs for the current and radiance, respectively, versus 3.8 µs for the voltage decay. This suggests that energy transfer to high vibrational levels of N2 (X 1 Σ, ν) and high population of metastable N2 (A3 Σ+ ) species are important in sustaining the discharge.

A high order fluid model for streamer dynamics is developed by closing the system after the 4th mo- ment of the Boltzmann equation in local mean energy approximation. This is done by approximating the high order pressure tensor in the heat flux equation through the previous moments. The electric field generated by the space charges is calculated with the Poisson equation. Then planar ionization fronts for negative streamers in N2 are simulated both with the classical streamer model in local field approximation, and with the present higher order model. The main differences between the models lie in the degree of ionization behind the front and in the mean electron energies.

International audience; A self-consistent kinetic model was developed in order to study the production of active species in Ar-O surface-wave microwave plasmas with a relatively small N addition. It is shown that the Ar-O-N mixture produces efficiently the same active species as an Ar-O discharge, including oxygen atoms, metastable O(∆) molecules and the VUV emitting Ar(4) states. Furthermore, active N-containing species are additionally produced, in particular N atoms and NO ground-state and excited molecules, which makes the ternary mixture very interesting for numerous plasma applications.

Plasma-surface interactions are increasingly recognised as a key factor in explaining molecule production and conversion processes. In order to scrutinise such effects well-defined surface and gas phase conditions are required. Hence, the inner surface of a Pyrex tube was treated by a capacitively coupled RF plasma at low pressure. The post-plasma oxidation of gas mixtures containing 1 % NO into NO2 has been studied by means of quantum cascade laser absorption spectroscopy in the mid-infrared spectral range. The plasma pre-treatment experiments with oxygen containing precursors suggest O atom adsorption on the Pyrex tube with a surface density of 2.7 x 1014 cm–2. A simple kinetic model was developed and shows good agreement with the measured NO and NO2 gas phase concentrations. Objetivo: Comparar la prevalencia de depresión posparto en primigestas y multíparas atendidas en la División de Obstetricia y Ginecología del Servicio Autónomo Hospital Universitario de Maracaibo, Venezuela. Objetivo: Estudiar la calidad de vida (CV) en pacientes menopáusicas con y sin terapia de reemplazo hormonal. El Virus del Papiloma Humano (VPH) es un virus ADN de doble cadena, que infecta el epitelio escamoso en individuos sanos para producir verrugas y condilomas y se ha transformado en un problema de salud pública que afecta a muchos países a nivel mundial. Así mismo, causa algunos tipos de cáncer como de cuello uterino, tumores de vagina y pene; también se cree en su implicación en algunos tumores de esófago que en algunos países tiene una inusual incidencia elevada. Objetivo: correlacionar el virus de papiloma humano y las lesiones papulosas de esófago. Material y Método: estudio prospectivo, descriptivo y correlacional, conformado por 38 pacientes de ambos sexos, mayores de 18 años de edad, que asistieron al Servicio de Gastroenterología del Hospital Central Dr. Urquinaona, con síntomas de reflujo gastroesofágico y/o por hallazgo casual endoscópico presentaron lesiones papulosas de esófago, en el período de marzo-septiembre 2007. Se evaluaron desde el punto de vista clínico; realizándoles videoendoscopia digestiva superior, con toma de biopsias para estudio histopatológico e inmunohistoquimico. Resultados: la edad media de los pacientes con lesiones papulosas de esófago fue de 40,5 años. Con respecto al sexo, hubo una prevalencia del sexo femenino con un 68,4%. La clínica que prevaleció fueron los síntomas de reflujo gastroesofágico como pirosis, regurgitación, disfagia y dispepsia representados en un 57,9%. La presencia de células tópicas (coilocitos) con núcleos atípicos, se demostró en el 55,3% de pacientes asintomáticos que por hallazgo casual endoscópico presentaron lesiones papulosas de esófago. En la inmunohistoquímica se observó el VPH (+) serotipo de alto riesgo en un 39,5% de los pacientes evaluados, seguidos del 36,8% para pacientes evaluados con VPH (+) serotipo de bajo riesgo. Conclusión: existe correlación directa y proporcional entre pacientes con lesiones papulosas de esófago y VPH (+) serotipo de alto riesgo que pudieron ser corroboradas por histopatología e inmunohistoquimico. Materials y Mhetods: prospective, descriptive and corelational study, conformed by 38 patients of both sexes, majors of 18 years of age, that attended the Service of Gastroenterology of the Central Hospital Dr. Urquinaona, with ebb tide symptoms of gastroesofágico ebb tide and/or by endoscopic accidental finding they presented/displayed papulous injuries of esophagus, in the period of March-September 2007. They were evaluated from the clinical point of view; realising digestive videoendoscopia to them superior, with taking of biopsies for histopatológico and inmunohistoquímico study. Results: the average age of the patients with papulous injuries of esophagus was of 40.5 years. With respect to sex, there was a prevalence of the feminine sex of a 68.4% in relation to the masculine one. The clinic that prevailed was the symptoms of gastroesofágico ebb tide like pirosis, regurgitation, disfagia and dispepsia represented in a 57.9%. The presence of topical cells (coilocitos) with atypical nuclei, demonstrated in 55.3% of patients asintomát that by endoscopic accidental finding they presented/displayed papulous injuries of esophagus. In the findings inmunohistoquímico it was demonstrated that the VPH (+) serotype of high risk appeared in 39.5% of the evaluated patients, followed of 36.8% for patients evaluated with VPH (-) serotype of low risk. Conclusion: it exists direct and proportional correlation between patients with papulous injuries of esophagus and VPH (+) serotype of high risk that could be corobbery by histopathology and immunohistochemistry.

Despite previous suggestions that ambiguity intolerance is part of openness, the current study demonstrates important differences between these traits in the context of an academic life transition. Openness was expected to be related to well-being through challenge and threat appraisals in the beginning of the university studies due to its relevance to novelty and intellect. It was expected to be related to well-being later in the university studies due to its relevance to intellect. In contrast, ambiguity intolerance was expected to be related to well-being through challenge and threat appraisals only in the beginning of the university studies. Multigroup path analyses supported the hypotheses, comparing students in the beginning of the first year of university with advanced students. In the beginning of the university studies, the relations of openness and ambiguity intolerance to well-being were mediated by challenge and threat appraisals. The relationship of openness to well-being remained the same for advanced students, whereas the relationship of ambiguity intolerance to well-being, challenge and threat appraisals was reduced to non-significance. The findings contribute to our understanding of context-specific functions of traits, and more broadly to knowledge on person-environment fit and to understanding person-situation interactions.
