This review article shows the main contributions of the scientific literature related to the SBPR problem (Sorting Permutations By Prefix Reversals) carried out in the last 47 years that have served as the basis for the complete sequencing of the human genome. In fact, the purpose of this study is to describe the main background of the problem from its origins to its final application in human genome sequencing. The methodology used is based on the documentary review, which allowed the construction of a matrix and a graph, where all possible bibliographic interconnections are summarized. However, the main findings show that the 1990s were key to develop a solid theory in terms of construction and verification of algorithms. Finally, conclusions and future perspectives of the main results obtained are given., En este artículo de revisión se muestran los principales aportes de la literatura científica relacionados con el problema SBPR (Sorting Permutations By Prefix Reversals, en español, Ordenamiento de permutaciones con reversión de prefijos) realizados en los últimos 47 años que han servido como base en la secuenciación completa del genoma humano. De hecho, este estudio tiene como propósito describir los principales antecedentes del problema desde sus orígenes hasta su aplicación final en la secuenciación del genoma humano. La metodología utilizada está basada en la revisión documental, la cual permitió construir una matriz y un grafo, en donde se resumen todas las interconexiones bibliográficas posibles. Sin embargo, los principales hallazgos demuestran que los años 90 fueron claves para desarrollar una teoría sólida en cuanto a construcción y verificación en lo que refiere a algoritmos. Finalmente, se brindan las conclusiones y perspectivas a futuro de los principales resultados obtenidos.

In this work, different data sources are used to study the ionosphere effects of two moderate geomagnetic storms, 26-27 February 2014 and 17-18 September 2021, over the Iberian Peninsula. Data are obtained from digital ionosondes in Spain, Italy and Greece; the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) derived Total Electron Content (TEC) and Rate Of TEC Index (ROTI) from several receiver stations in Spain, Portugal and Morocco; and the UPC Quarter-of-an-hour time resolution Rapid GIM (UQRG), vertical TEC global ionosphere maps (GIMs), produced at 15 min intervals by the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC, Spain). This analysis showed that, during the two moderate storms, spread-F and high values of ROTI, indicating the presence of irregularities, are found in a very localized area (Southern Iberian Peninsula and northwest Africa) and local times (night-time). However, no irregularities are found eastwards and northwards of the location indicated. A way to obtain graphene-based materials on a large-scale level is by means of chemical methods for the oxidation of graphite to obtain graphene oxide (GO), in combination with thermal, laser, chemical and electrochemical reduction methods to produce reduced graphene oxide (rGO). Among these methods, thermal and laser-based reduction processes are attractive, due to their fast and low-cost characteristics. In this study, first a modified Hummer’s method was applied to obtain graphite oxide (GrO)/graphene oxide. Subsequently, an electrical furnace, a fusion instrument, a tubular reactor, a heating plate, and a microwave oven were used for the thermal reduction, and UV and CO2 lasers were used for the photothermal and/or photochemical reduction. The chemical and structural characterizations of the fabricated rGO samples were performed by Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy measurements. The analysis and comparison of the results revealed that the strongest feature of the thermal reduction methods is the production of high specific surface area, fundamental for volumetric energy applications such as hydrogen storage, whereas in the case of the laser reduction methods, a highly localized reduction is achieved, ideal for microsupercapacitors in flexible electronics.

Laser-induced graphene (LIG) is a graphenic material synthesized from a polymeric substrate through point-by-point laser pyrolysis. It is a fast and cost-effective technique, and it is ideal for flexible electronics and energy storage devices, such as supercapacitors. However, the miniaturization of the thicknesses of the devices, which is important for these applications, has still not been fully explored. Therefore, this work presents an optimized set of laser conditions to fabricate high-quality LIG microsupercapacitors (MSC) from 60 µm thick polyimide substrates. This is achieved by correlating their structural morphology, material quality, and electrochemical performance. The fabricated devices show a high capacitance of 22.2 mF/cm2 at 0.05 mA/cm2, as well as energy and power densities comparable to those of similar devices that are hybridized with pseudocapacitive elements. The performed structural characterization confirms that the LIG material is composed of high-quality multilayer graphene nanoflakes with good structural continuity and an optimal porosity.

El propósito principal de este Trabajo Final de Grado (TFG) se basa en el desarrollo de una plataforma híbrida de compra-venta entre usuarios mediante servicios avanzados dirigida a plataformas móviles, tanto Android como iOS, que permita al usuario la gestión de la publicación de anuncios y compra de productos o servicios en el momento que desee, en cualquier lugar a través de cualquier dispositivo móvil, y facilitado por su sistema de geolocalización de anuncios disponibles. Por esta razón, el objetivo es que el usuario disponga de una aplicación intuitiva y sencilla de manera integral que facilite las transacciones de objetos entre usuarios de la misma. En consecuencia, el objetivo de "DaSell" es mejorar la experiencia del usuario en el caso de realizar una transacción con otro usuario sin necesidad de disponer de un intermediario, facilitar una comunicación instantánea entre ambos, la posibilidad de mostrar la geolocalización para la entrega del producto y gestionar las publicaciones para mostrar la información más relevante del producto, y llegar al resto de usuarios con la mayor eficacia posible., Grado en Ingeniería Informática de Servicios y Aplicaciones

El objetivo primero de este Trabajo Fin de Grado es el de desarrollar una aplicación web que nos permita contabilizar las distintas acciones llevadas a cabo por los jugadores de un equipo de fútbol a lo largo de un partido y durante las diferentes temporadas y estudiarlas desde un punto de vista estadístico. Para ello e-Footbal proporciona una interfaz intuitiva para gestionar los integrantes de la plantilla, así como los partidos que los mismos disputen y en los cuales podremos recabar información sobre las actuaciones de nuestros jugadores, para su posterior análisis., Grado en Ingeniería Informática de Servicios y Aplicaciones

El TFG desarrolla una aplicación web para gestionar un taller de reparación de automóviles, centrándose en la gestión de vehículos y sus órdenes de trabajo asociadas. Se ha utilizado un framework basado en Java para el backend como Spring Boot y Bootstrap/Jquery para el frontend. Así, el TFG es una muy buena puesta en práctica de los conocimientos adquiridos en el grado., Grado en Ingeniería Informática de Servicios y Aplicaciones

Memoria final del Proyecto Innova-Docencia nº 164, titulado "Elaboración y desarrollo de materiales accesibles para la formación de jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual en la Atención y Cuidado de Animales, mediante la intervención en el Proyecto Liceo". Contiene información sobre la creación de materiales y de un repositorio de los mismos disponibles en la Facultad de Veterinaria de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y sobre la difusión realizada de los resultados obtenidos. También contiene información sobre la sensibilización sobre discapacidad intelectual realizada en la comunidad educativa complutense y en entornos laborales relacionados con el cuidado de animales y sobre la información recibida por los componentes del equipo para poder realizar esta actividad docente con jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual.

This research titled Implementation ofDigital Educational Resources (RED) with interactive texts under the theory of multiple intelligences as a pedagogical strategy to strengthen reading comprehension skills in the area of English in sixth grade students of the Institución Educativa Los Palmitos (Sucre-Colombia), was carried out with a qualitative design and action-participation research approach, through a methodological route of four phases, namely: deconstruction of the English language learning processes in the center, the design of the digital resource using interactive texts as a didactic tool. in the context of the recognition and strengthening of multiple intelligences, the implementation and observation of the same and finally the evaluation of its impact on the learning under study. Among the main conclusions, the positive impact of this resource for students, teachers and the institution is highlighted because it helped to strengthen interpretive skills, in the same way, students managed to appropriate their own learning process, by strengthening the Attention and concentration in classes, the motivation to learn and explore new forms of study, all this redounds to one of the key purposes of current education, as is the development of autonomy., Cette recherche intitulée "Mise en œuvre de ressources éducatives numériques (REN) avec des textes interactifs basés sur la théorie des intelligences multiples en tant que stratégie pédagogique pour renforcer les compétences en compréhension de lecture en anglais chez les élèves de sixième année du collège de l'Institution Éducative Los Palmitos (Sucre, Colombie)" a été réalisée avec une approche qualitative et une méthodologie d'action participative. Elle a suivi quatre phases méthodologiques : la déconstruction des processus d'apprentissage de la langue anglaise dans l'établissement, la conception de la ressource numérique utilisant des textes interactifs en lien avec la reconnaissance et le renforcement des intelligences multiples, la mise en œuvre et l'observation de cette ressource, et enfin l'évaluation de son impact sur les apprentissages étudiés. Parmi les principales conclusions, on souligne l'impact positif de cette ressource pour les élèves, les enseignants et l'établissement, car elle a contribué au renforcement des compétences d'interprétation. De plus, les élèves ont réussi à s'approprier leur propre processus d'apprentissage en renforçant leur attention et leur concentration en classe, en étant motivés à apprendre et à explorer de nouvelles méthodes d'étude. Tout cela concorde avec l'un des objectifs clés de l'éducation actuelle, qui est le développement de l'autonomie., Esta pesquisa intitulada "Implementação de Recursos Educacionais Digitais (RED) com textos interativos baseados na teoria das inteligências múltiplas como estratégia pedagógica para o fortalecimento da habilidade de compreensão de leitura na área de inglês em estudantes do sexto ano do ensino fundamental da Instituição Educacional Los Palmitos (Sucre, Colômbia)" foi realizada com um desenho qualitativo e abordagem de pesquisa-ação participativa, seguindo uma metodologia de quatro fases: desconstrução dos processos de aprendizagem da língua inglesa na escola, design do recurso digital usando textos interativos como ferramenta didática no contexto do reconhecimento e fortalecimento das inteligências múltiplas, implementação e observação do recurso, e, finalmente, avaliação de seu impacto nas aprendizagens em estudo. Entre as principais conclusões, destaca-se o impacto positivo desse recurso para os estudantes, professores e instituição, pois auxiliou no fortalecimento dashabilidades interpretativas. Dentro de las principales conclusiones se resalta el impacto positivo de este recurso para los estudiantes, docente y la institución porque ayudó al fortalecimiento de las habilidades interpretativas, del mismo modo, los estudiantes lograron apropiarse de su propio proceso de aprendizaje, mediante el fortalecimiento de la atención y concentración en las clases, la motivación por aprender y explorar nuevas formas de estudio, todo ello redunda el uno de los propósitos claves de la educación actual como lo es el desarrollo de la autonomía

The crosstalk between the opioidergic system and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) has a critical role in mediating stress-induced behaviors related to the pathophysiology of anxiety. The present study evaluated the basal status and stress-induced alterations of cortico-thalamic MAPKs and other cell fate-related signaling pathways potentially underlying the anxiogenic endophenotype of PDYN gene-deficient mice. Compared to littermates, PDYN knockout (KO) mice had lower cortical and or thalamic amounts of the phospho-activated MAPKs c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK1/2) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2). Similarly, PDYN-KO animals displayed reduced cortico-thalamic densities of total and phosphorylated (at Ser191) species of the cell fate regulator Fas-associated protein with death domain (FADD) without alterations in the Fas receptor. Exposure to acute restraint and chronic mild stress stimuli induced the robust stimulation of JNK1/2 and ERK1/2 MAPKs, FADD, and Akt-mTOR pathways, without apparent increases in apoptotic rates. Interestingly, PDYN deficiency prevented stress-induced JNK1/2 and FADD but not ERK1/2 or Akt-mTOR hyperactivations. These findings suggest that cortico-thalamic MAPK- and FADD-dependent neuroplasticity might be altered in PDYN-KO mice. In addition, the results also indicate that the PDYN gene (and hence dynorphin release) may be required to stimulate JNK1/2 and FADD (but not ERK1/2 or Akt/mTOR) pathways under environmental stress conditions.

The use of the term ‘maritime security’ generates confusion in Spanish. The words ‘safety’ and ‘security’ (sécurité and sureté in French) are often used interchangeably in Spanish because there is only one word to define both concepts, which is ‘seguridad’. So first of all the term needs to be clarified. Moreover, the term ‘maritime security’ is increasingly used in academic circles and has been enriched in recent years: from a traditional conception of maritime security (strategic, military), related to safe oceans and seas, to a new vision, including the Blue Economy, ocean governance and sustainability. Nowadays, and increasingly so, successful maritime security policies require the integration of the blue economy and ocean health., El concepto de seguridad marítima genera confusión en castellano. A diferencia de lo que ocurre en inglés (donde se diferencia security de safety) o del francés (sécurité y sureté), hay una sola palabra en castellano para definir ambos conceptos, que es seguridad. Por lo tanto, en primer lugar, cabe precisar el término. Además, es un concepto que cada vez se utiliza más en el ámbito académico y que se ha enriquecido en los últimos años de una concepción tradicional de la seguridad marítima (estratégica, militar), relacionada con unos océanos y unos mares seguros a una nueva visión que incluye en dicho término cuestiones relacionadas con la economía azul, la gobernanza y la sostenibilidad de los océanos. Hoy en día se considera cada vez más que el éxito de las políticas en materia de seguridad marítima requiere de la integración de la economía azul y la salud de los océanos.

Bacterial conjugation is the main mechanism for the dissemination of antibiotic resistance genes. A single DNA strand of the conjugative plasmid is transferred across bacterial membranes covalently bound to a large multi-domain protein, named relaxase, which must be unfolded to traverse the secretion channel. Two tyrosine residues of the relaxase (Y18 and Y26 in relaxase TrwC) play an important role in the processing of conjugative DNA. We have used nanopore technology to uncover the unfolding states that take place during translocation of the relaxase–DNA complex. We observed that the relaxase unfolding pathway depends on the tyrosine residue involved in conjugative DNA binding. Transfer of the nucleoprotein complex is faster when DNA is bound to residue Y18. This is the first time in which a protein–DNA complex that is naturally translocated through bacterial membranes has been analyzed by nanopore sensing, opening new horizons to apply this technology to study protein secretion.

Many pathogens use Type III and Type IV protein secretion systems to secrete virulence factors from the bacterial cytosol into host cells. These systems operate through a one-step mechanism. The secreted substrates (protein or nucleo-protein complexes in the case of Type IV conjugative systems) are guided to the base of the secretion channel, where they are directly delivered into the host cell in an ATP-dependent unfolded state. Despite the numerous disparities between these secretion systems, here we have focused on the structural and functional similarities between both systems. In particular, on the structural similarity shared by one of the main ATPases (EscN and VirD4 in Type III and Type IV secretion systems, respectively). Interestingly, these ATPases also exhibit a structural resemblance to F1-ATPases, which suggests a common mechanism for substrate secretion. The correlation between structure and function of essential components in both systems can provide significant insights into the molecular mechanisms involved. This approach is of great interest in the pursuit of identifying inhibitors that can effectively target these systems..

Bioluminescence is interesting, among other reasons, for the various technological applications that have been derived from it. Among these applications, developing visualization techniques to record the expression of one or more genes simultaneously in real-time are particularly useful. With this in mind, this study aimed to generate a recombinant Pyrocystis lunula luciferase protein (Luci D2-3 partial CDS). As the main results, i) a fragment of 1467 bp of the luciferase (LCFb) mRNA of the dinoflagellate P. lunula, containing part of domain 2 and all of the domain 3, was cloned in the pET28a vector; ii) the constructed vector was used to transform Escherichia coli to express the recombinant protein and subsequently purify it through an affinity chromatography procedure using a His-Tag; and iii) the purified protein (~50 kDa) was further analyzed by mass spectrometry to confirm its identity. Despite being unable to perform activity tests with the luciferin substrate, the evidence from previous studies indicates that the recombinant protein obtained in this case is enzymatically active. Due to the limited number of currently available luciferases, synthesizing this recombinant protein represents a useful tool, especially in designing expression assays coupled to multiple reporter genes, thus expanding the palette of proteins available for developing this type of biotechnological advances.

Cada día se ha recogido un aniversario científico o tecnológico como, por ejemplo, nacimientos de personas de estos ámbitos o conmemoraciones de hallazgos destacables. Además, el calendario se acompaña de una guía didáctica con orientaciones para el aprovechamiento educativo transversal del calendario en las clases, incluyendo actividades adaptadas a cada rango de edad y al alumnado con necesidades especiales. Se trata de la cuarta edición de este proyecto de divulgación científica.
