Abstract

The reliability assurance of software systems from design to deployment level through transformation techniques and model driven approach, is described. Once the reliability mechanisms provided by current component-based development architectures (CBDA) are designed in a platform-independent way, platform-based design and implementation models must be extended. Current CBDAs, such as Enterprise Java Beans, address a considerable range of features to support system reliability. The evaluation aims to test maturity of the approach, its applicability, and the effectiveness of reliability models. The techniques such as process algebras are generally considered time consuming, in regard to software development.

Abstract

The grid community has been migrating towards service-oriented architectures as means of\ud exposing and interacting with computational resources across organizational boundaries. The\ud adoption of Web Service standards provides us with an increased level of manageability,\ud extensibility and interoperability between loosely coupled services that is crucial to the\ud development of a grid infrastructure spanning multiple organizations and incorporating a wide\ud range of different services. Providing support for Web Services in existing middleware and tools\ud would ensure open interoperability with future mainstream grid developments. We cover in this\ud paper the work that we have done in incorporating Web Service support into Condor – a widely\ud adopted and sophisticated high-throughput computing software package, and present an overview\ud of the motivations, implementation and achievements of this work. In order to demonstrate\ud Condor’s new capabilities, we also present work that we have done in adapting GridSAM, a Web-\ud Service based job submission and monitoring system that endorses the emerging Job Submission\ud Description Language (JSDL) standard, in order for it to interact with Condor through its Web\ud Service API – as well as demonstrate the use of this combination of services to deploy real-world\ud scientific workflows in the context of the e-Minerals project using the Web Service based workflow\ud specification standard BPEL (Business Process Execution Language).
