The article presents an interview with Cesar Dominguez. This is the first part of a two part interview with Cesar, where he discusses his life before his conviction for residential burglary and the mundane ness of his incarceration. Professionally, Cesar's career was single and multi-unit retail management, which is a really cool way of saying that he can operate one to seven units at a time. He had been a manager and district manager for Mrs. Field's Cookies for a number of years as well as a training manager for Domino's Pizza, bakeries, candy stores, and things of that nature. Spiritually, he believed there was a God but he never knew what to believe. In retrospect he guess he never really wanted to believe. To have belief one must also have Responsibility, something he tried to avoid at all costs, all the time. He dropped out of high school one week before graduation. As far as burglarizing, that came up out of need. At a time in his life when everything was very upset and he had sunk so far that he was living on the streets, he would do just about anything to get loaded.

When asked to describe about the first day after his release from jail he responded that it was hard for him to slip into old routines. He gave up his entire past and avoided repeating his anti-social activities. Also, when asked what was his hardest "normal" thing he had to get used to on the outside he said that his easiest thing to get used was the mundane. Furthermore, the article gives a narration of Cesar's life routine after jail term, his views on whether criminal justice system "corrects" people, and the lesson others should learn from Cesar's life.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) could be regarded as a brain form of diabetes since insulin resistance and deficiency develop early and progress with severity of neurodegeneration. Preserving insulin's actions in the brain restores function and reduces neurodegeneration. T3D-959 is a dual nuclear receptor agonist currently in a Phase 2a trial in mild-to-moderate AD patients (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT02560753). Herein, we show that T3D-959 improves motor function and reverses neurodegeneration in a sporadic model of AD., Methods: Long Evans rats were administered intracerebral (i.c.) streptozotocin (STZ) or normal saline (control) and dosed orally with T3D-959 (1.0 mg/kg/day) or saline for 21 or 28 days. Rotarod tests evaluated motor function. Histopathology with image analysis was used to assess neurodegeneration., Results: T3D-959 significantly improved motor performance, and preserved both cortical and normalized white matter structure in i.c STZ-treated rats. T3D-959 treatments were effective when dosed therapeutically, whether initiated 1 day or 7 days after i.c. STZ., Conclusion: T3D-959's targeting neuro-metabolic dysfunctions via agonism of PPAR delta and PPAR gamma nuclear receptors provides potential disease modification in AD.
