This article intends to analyze the possible scenarios of evolution of Cuba after Fidel in the short and medium term, after a retrospective of the Cuban Revolution, its democratic and anticommunist motivations and its authoritarian drift and later its Soviet leaning.

Members of Sigma Delta Chi (SDX), the largest journalism professional organization based in the United States, engaged in advocacy for transnational freedom of information and press freedom in Cuba between 1959 and 1962, between the Cuban Revolution and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Analysis of archival sources—including SDX member records, correspondence, and declassified government reports—and content in the official SDX magazine, reveals three themes: justifying a Latin America section with a primary focus on Cuba, the throttling of the free flow of information in and from Cuba, and documenting transnational flows of propaganda from Cuba and news from United States-based Cuban exiles to Cuba. Communist threats to reporters and democratic news organizations increased, and news management from the Cuban government and US government influenced information flows during this period. Al propio tiempo, la experiencia del proceso de Rectificación en Cuba es muy particular, por lo que el presente trabajo se orienta hacia el análisis de sus causas, impactos y enseñanzas desde la visión de la teoría sociopolítica. The process known as «rectification of errors and negative tendencies» in Cuba, is not a casual passage in the construction of socialism, because there is no manual that establishes how to build the alternative society to capitalism. At the same time the experience of the Rectification process in Cuba is very particular, for this reason, the present paper is devoted to analyze its causes, impacts and lessons from the vision of the sociopolitics theory.

This article studies the impact that the Cuban Revolution had on conservative political actors inChile during the 1964 presidential campaign. At that time, Cuba served as a dystopian example for anticommunist forces through the direct identification between the Cuban experience and the Chilean Left. They utilized a "language of family" to give meaning to their rejection of any possible establishment of socialism in Chile. In this sense, an eventual electoral victory of the Marxist Left was seen as an attack--as in Cuba--on the stability of the family, traditional gender roles, and even parental control of their daughters' sexuality. These representations were widely distributed through an anticommunist propaganda campaign known as the "campaign of terror," which forged transnational networks among local actors, the CIA, and conservative Brazilian women. Based on unpublished primary sources (private collections, diplomatic archives, interviews), this article examines a key moment for French commitment to Cuba’s revolutionary project: the Cultural Congress of Havana of January 1968, an international conference that gathered around 500 foreign guests, including nearly 80 French intellectuals. The “Third Worldist” inclination of the Cuban Revolution and its ideological defiance to the USSR was keenly welcomed by many French people, who saw in Cuba the emergence of a non-dogmatic revolutionary model focused on South-South solidarity, and freedom of thought and creation. Back in France, many participants in the congress implemented concrete initiatives in support of the Cuban Revolution, but the events of May 1968 and Castro’s backing of the military intervention in Czechoslovakia (August 1968) dampened this militant momentum, obstructing French solidarity projects towards Cuba.

Objective/context: This article focuses on information about the Military Units to Aid Production found in Cuban periodical publications like El Mundo, Granma and Verde Olivo between 1965 and 1968 about the Unidades Militares de Ayuda a la Producción (UMAP). Originality: Very few studies have dealt with this subject as a way to reconstruct the economic, socio-political and cultural aspects of the period in which this revolutionary institution arose. Methodology: This investigation has been guided by a focus which favors an analysis of documents, due to the absence of other kinds of historical sources. Conclusions: These Units were created with the aim of reforming some persons, like priests, homosexuals, dissidents and the unemployed, through agricultural work, which was regarded as a corrective measure on an individual and political-ideological level. This article aims to share the experience of the renewal of congregational singing in Cuban churches since the 1960s as a testimony to the links that exist between liturgical renewal and theological renewal with a special focus on the dialogue between culture and social reality, particularly in light of the Cuban Revolution of 1959, as constitutive of this renewal.
