Purpose No study to date has addressed the construct of event tourist experience value and there is no well-accepted value measurement method. This study aims to examine the underlying dimensions of event tourist experience value from a holistic perspective. Design/methodology/approach The research process consists of two steps. First, the dimensions of event tourist experience value are investigated by using grounded theory and content analysis of travel blogs. The second step is to explore and verify the scale of event tourist experience value. Findings The items show that event tourist experience value can be comprehensively understood from three dimensions: functional value (functional factors); hedonic value (relaxation, escape, restoration and interaction); and symbolic value (social prestige, belonging and self-transcendence). Practical implications The findings are useful indicators explaining events attendance, and can help event organizers and destination managers to better understand the needs of tourists and design event experiences in a more sophisticated way. Originality/value This work integrates a series of varied events to suggest a holistic view of event tourist experience value, which provides a theoretical basis for other scholars to compare and monitor findings in this field.

In this work, we aim to show that there are generally four possible mapping functions that can be used to map the time-domain or frequency-domain representations of an applied voltage input to the resulting time-domain or frequency-domain electrical charge output; i.e. when the capacitive device is voltage-charged. Alternatively, there are four more possible combinations when the device is current-charged. The dual relationship between each pair of functions for the case of voltage or charge input are provided in terms of single or double Fourier transforms. All eight system functions coincide with each other if and only if a constant time- and frequency-independent capacitance is considered.

Fuzheng Kangai decoction (FZKA) has been preliminarily proved to be effective in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study plans to investigate the clear role of FZKA on HCC progression. After establishing a HCC tumor-bearing mice model and treated with FZKA, the volumes and weights of HCC tumor were monitored, and tumor pathology was analyzed by HE staining. The expression of the molecules related to angiogenesis, apoptosis and angiogenesis in tumor tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry, Western blot and qRT-PCR assays. In addition, HCC cells were administrated with increasing concentrations of FZKA. Then the cell proliferation, migration and invasion ability were tested. In HCC tumor bearing mice, it was found that FZKA significantly decreased the tumor volumes, weights, aggravated tumor pathological damage, reduced VEGF, CD34, Bcl-2 expression, but promoted the expression of Bax, cleaved caspase 3, Cyt-C in tumor tissues. Moreover, in vitro experiments demonstrated that FZKA co-incubation suppressed the proliferation, migration and invasion ability of HCC cells. This study demonstrated that FZKA has the potential to inhibit HCC progression by promoting apoptosis and inhibiting angiogenesis.

Watercore is a common physiological disorder in pear and is closely related to excessive accumulation of sorbitol and sucrose. Our previous research found the watercore incidence of ‘Akibae’ (Pyrus pyrifolia cv. Akibae) fruit significantly decreased after boron application (BA). Moreover, foliar spray of boric acid also significantly improved fruit quality. To uncover the mechanisms underlying pear fruit response to BA, a comprehensive transcriptome analysis was performed in this study. Transcriptome results revealed a total of 3146 up-regulated and 1145 down-regulated differently expressed genes (DEGs) between control and treated fruits of ‘Akibae’ pear, respectively. BA significantly induced expression of sorbitol metabolism and sucrose metabolism genes. Besides, BA also increased the expression of starch degradation, fatty acid synthesis, IAA (indole-3-acetic acid) degradation, GA (gibberellin acid) synthesis and inhibit the expression of ethylene synthesis genes. Overall, these findings suggested that BA alleviated ‘Akibae’ watercore occurrence and improve fruit quality by regulating the decrease of sorbitol and sucrose, increased of fatty acid and a balance of plant hormone. Our results provided further information for understanding the molecular mechanism of the effect of boron application on pear fruit.
